Thanks Dave. I was correcting my spelling and erased part of the message...yes, Stapelia nobilis. Star Cactus is one of those misnomers used as a common name...my apologies...grin
Cryptanthus also has gorgeous blooms. Shame the mother plant dies after blooming, but they do put out pups also.

Gypsies on Vacation!
Ah, little babies!
Moon, Pirl is over on -- Daylilies: what to do about ratty foliage in late summer?
I just looked at her link for the irises. They stick more to the subject over there!
You have to show us the whole cactus-like plant with all it blooms!
Not raining here yet but looks like it could. We could use it tried to dig a hole was like digging in concrete.
I've been to the daylily forum venice. They are very nice but they do take it serious. Some of them have thousand or more daylilies. Didn't know there was that many. Some gave away a bunch too, don't ya know I was day late and dollar short...
Those babies almost looked like starfish til I enlarged picture. Can we get a scratch and sniff for these flowers please??
Dave and moon I don't know how you can keep all those names straight much less spell them. :)
Venice, I only have the cutting, got it from my friend the other day...if I get a chance to get back out to his nursery, I'll get a picture.
JJs, these don't have any scent, all their glory is in their looks...grin
I have a note book that I divided into sections and that is where I record the names of plants. I try to keep it in Alphabetical order and add pictures where possible along with common names...sort of a personal plant encyclopedia.
Otherwise, I would never remember a quarter of them....grin
Daylily folks can be too serious...my Mother in law is one of them....grin
Back into the weed fray...catch you folks later....dratted peppervine is everywhere....Moon
Moon, after all that rain, I bet you have some monster weeds!
I agree, that flower looks like a starfish...beautiful.
Barely survived...just hanging on till bed time lol sure is an interesting age...I don't think they slept at all....
just cleaning up a bit and getting things back where they belong. it's so nice out I keep ending up outside *grin*
Lynnie, hope you are going to tell us all about it!
Nice weeds Jean!
Hey, those are pretty healthy weeds! How does that area usually look? The first photo looks like flowers and not objectionable in my opinion. But the others kind of look like weeds, especially the last one! lol What are you going to do?
Now that's a kid activity! So cute! I hope you are getting a lot of rain so it will pass over here soon.
lol I love chocolate activities....
Moon I could use a bottle of that energy right now.
Not much to tell of the sleepover, lots of screaming, gave them dinner, lots of screaming, gave them cake & ice cream, lots of screaming, set up a movie & projector w/ popcorn, lots of screaming....I think you guys get the picture lol good bunch of kids, they're nice to the little sister.
I'm making a fresh tomato mozzarella & basil salad with balsamic vinegar....it's all good when there's fresh basil.
So! There was a lot of screaming with a few activities!!! lol
The first picture is my Thalia....engulfed in crud.....I am through for today...started raining a bit, but could have kept on working...2 snakes, a half dozen or so toads, a buh-zillion mosquitoes and a dad-blamed ground hornet nest put an end to today....I hate hornets...they hurt....kinda like getting shocked.
Boy I bet you are worn out Lynnie...never could sleep if the kids were up. Bet everyone will sleep tonight.
Boy, chocolate anything , the great pacifier....he is too cute, JJs.
Thanks, Dave...fine crop out there, eh? more than willing to share them....grin
Venice, that is a most obnoxious, noxious weed that has engulfed my daylilies, crinums, Thalia, flag irises and giant mondo grass....looks are very deceiving....grin
Snakes, mosquitoes, hornets . . OH MY!!!
Toads are ok because they eat the mosquitoes. I don't care what snakes eat, I wouldn't want any type of snake around me. And I couldn't stand being stung by a hornet!!!
Went camping in Floriday once. Wanted to stay at a campground after one of those storms they have down there. The mosquitoes were so thick that at least one hundred would attack you in just seconds! Remember the guy who put his arm in a clear box with hundreds of mosquitoes in it to advertise Raid? That is what it was like!
I imagine that is what your mosquitoes were like. You need a bee keepers outfit to go out there!!!
Pretty close to it Venice...don't mind the snakes as long as they are heading away from me...toward me sends me scurrying...grin. These were both King snakes and among a ton of other stuff, they eat other snakes....and they are quite attractive in a snakey sort of way...grin...love the toads and they can be quite entertaining....emptied half a can of wasp spray on the hornets....they really make me angry and vengeful....grin. There are three things in the garden I don't think twice about killing....wasps/hornets, fire ants and those huge lubber grasshoppers...oh yeah, and white flies....grin.
I'm not even going to try to catch up with all of the that...I saw several of Dave's pictures and noticed he said "would not survive as a houseplant"....was that for my benefit Dave?
Sorry was busy with seeds yesterday! got alot collected some I didn't even know made seeds....I learn something new everyday!
Anyone get crickets? I get tons of little brown crickets. I don't know if they're good or bad. They don't seem to bother anything in my garden, I'll take them over snakes.
Did anyone have nice weather today? It was really nice here in WNY - almost 80 and sunny.
This has been a good year for crickets. They eat on some plants, but usually not enough to matter
I will see you fine folks later...gonna go try not to scratch my skeeter bites and put more hydrocortisone on my hornet stings, right after a good hot shower....have a sweet evening....later, Moon
later moon...I didn't get crickets I got Frogs!
Well, Trina, welcome back! So what kind of seeds have you been working on?

trina- hope I'm here
Hey everbody meet my Mom!
venice I got both types of my dianthus seeds, some ballon flower, some Yucca, marigold of course, trying the petunia seeds
and waiting on rose of sharon in some intersting colors and this awesome azalea the neighbor has in her front yard
I think there was more...oh yeah several coleus, and my double yellow datura has finally started to open their seed pods
Anyone know how to help a diffenbachia that's gotten toooo much sun
Hi! Tina's Mom Witch! Glad to have you here!
Trina, you have been busy if you have been collecting all of those!
Did you see some petunia seed pods yet? I have had only a couple and they are just ordinary white. I am hoping my double ones will have seed pods.
too much sun? change location...Mom when did you get a diffenbachia?
same here....I am trying to see if I can collect them....because I have 3 types and lots of colors of them and if I can get the seeds and get them to grow it saves me money on next years garden project
Were you collecting seeds when it was raining?
no...i was putting them in those seed packets I printed off...hoping maybe I can sell some on Spoon River Drive
hi mom! :)
Trina are you all better now?
Venice I think screaming IS an activity at this age...even when it isn't loud, it's a high pitch.
I did manage to water some stuff while they were all outside (fortunately they didn't notice the hose was on) I don't think we're getting more rain for a while. Moon you may need a canoe soon, but here it's just beautiful dry crisp weather.
Trina & Venice I put the seeds in a safe place, I should get them out Tuesday. I tucked them way away from the revelry...they wouldn't have survived the hide & seek game otherwise.
LOL Lynnie! I still have a cough and a little stuffy but much much better now
the chupacabra is driving me nuts all she wants to do is be in my lap
Did you figure out a chat Trina
