Okay..... moving on to happy news!!!
Didn't watch the games last night, cause I know LSU will beat ULL. (Now, I should support Lafayette right, as I had lived there for years... but I'm Tiger diehard)
And... I can't believe what I'm reading!!!
FSU beats BYU 54-28!!! That's a blowout!!!
Maid M.. you must be in heaven!

Oh yes I am Jaye!! In more ways than one as I actually listened to the game with my children last night--first game I have listened to or watched in 5 years!!! Huge milestone for me and oh how good I feel about one more down!!!
Not suppose to rain today but it is cloudy and horribly humid!! Not very enticing for even going out to pick up the paper.
BTW, Jaye my sister works for a vet and it is surprising how many 'scripts are written for people to go the their pharmacist to have filled for their 4 legged babies. Actually she was too until she started working there. However having said that--be careful. There is only one unique Jaye and we aren't ready to lose her in any form, shape or fashion.
Humm, not report Kel? Hehehe!! Wonder what I can do with that information? LOL
Oh Marion.....stop.....you don't want Kel getting a pouty face do you?
By the way, what is our theme this coming year for the Festival?
Jaye, dear, so glad you're feeling better!
Geaux Seminoles!!
Now Cookie, only way for Kel to get that pouty look, unless he knows for sure he won't get some of your famous caramels!!
Yeah, wondering what the theme will be too. How about Enchanted Gardening? Cause it seems the Seminoles will have an enchanted year!
oh y'all. by the way, morning. bad sleep night again, this time more indigestion.
Jaye, hope you are better! my friend emailed she couldn't wait, check with me on irises you wanted.
oh my! well, I'm with you there, Susan. In NC, you can file for divorce and write up the property settlement, but you must live "apart" - i.e., no martial relations, you can live in the same house otherwise - for 12 months. know one couple that took 5 years, and am told that's not unusual. if they have relations or cant' agree on the property and kids, it drags on for years. one "marital relation" and the clock starts over. everyone said "don't do it in NC."
It was supposed to be 90 days and easy in WA state. Even though he'd asked me for a legal separation, he dragged it out 18 months, even four months after the very long court hearing which was supposed to end it all. Ten years ago, found out his girlfriend/2nd wife had been married five times before. No wonder she got it all when she divorced him - she'd had practice!!
(((((Cody)))) I said the same thing....then my family informed me my 1st choice was so bad they each got veto power on my next choice. No Way! Wasn't ever going to do that again......after 3.5 years, I met Randall, who was determined to marry me! bestest thing ever for me! first he won over my sister, then my mother, then Nana, then Dad, before he won over me! and Randall's always said, if Mom was 10 years younger and free......
y'all will love this...first I said yes, then started hemming and hawwing. wanted to keep it a secret for a while. But he insisted we look at rings, and about caved when he saw the price of diamonds. back then he would sometimes take me to the Longbranch where I had learned two-step. one night one the fellas that really helped me learn to dance (we'd never dated) was there for the first time in forever. we went out on the floor and they played six of our favorite dancing tunes in a row. When we came off the floor, Randall stormed out of there and announced I had 3 days to find a ring "big enough to be seen on the other side of the dancefloor." no more secret. A week later I was OFFICIALLY off the market with a 1 carat diamond rock on me!
.....and four months later, I was still so scared to remarry that I walked into the church 10 mins. after my cue to enter....left everyone wondering there for a bit.....
that honey of mine just bought me 100 irises ...YIPPPEEEE!
Bonnie, thanks for thinking of me. I've looked them over just now and the ones I like are gone :(
There's always next year.
100 irises??? Ohhh my back!!
So, next anniversary, you'll be sporting 1 carat diamond earrings, Bonnie!
Off to the store... first time out of the house in 2 days! See you all later.
Well the committee decided to go with "Celebrating 20 Years!". Of course, with that group things could change next meeting. I sure hope not.
no way Jaye. our money days are long gone. that diamond went to pay bills. and I don't miss it.
Marion, one of these days I want to come see one of your shindigs! they sound so cool.
Cindy - LOL - I did the same thing. was dating several at once. Randall gave me an ultimatum "no more other guys" and I told him to shove off, I was a free woman. But I'd got used to being single for a few years first and got over that phase. After I did, the guys came out of the woodwork! something about that clinging phase in women scares them off. Just keep having fun with 'em, girl.
Bon, I would love to have you attend the festival. It is fun but I am not sure how many more years I will remain active. My life has changed in the past 5 and I have other things I want/plan to do. Might stay as a "consultant" for the vendor coordinators but there will be a day I say bye!!! 19 years of 20 is a lots!! You have seen the website, haven't you? If not I will post the address for you to see pictures of the past year.
please post that link Marion!
Hi Everyone!! Love the conversations!
When me and Dave met, we were set up and didn't know it, he presented a 1/2 carat diamond ring on Christmas 2003, we had only known each other 1 1/2 months! I had never been married so I wasn't scared to get married, but I was scared of 'being married' if that makes sense. When he presented the ring he told me his story, divorced once, no kids, hard working, on and on LOL! I of course said yes right off the bat but the engagement band was ugly and very worn, so we ended up with this scenario: He bought my 1/2 carat diamond, I bought my own engagement/wedding set and put the diamond in it, and we bought his wedding band together after we got married and put the money together. I didn't get the jitters at all through the whole thing. Don't remember the wedding hardly at all, just all the pictures I've looked at. We get along great, except when he starts nagging about something lol.
And about that, after last night he better not ever say anything to me again about how much to pay for a good T-Bone steak.
That's a sweet story there, Crissy.
No diamonds here.
My first wedding gem, was a jade. Told Kel that I'd love to have an emerald, not a man made chatham emerald. But somehow, nothing attracts my fancy. Let's say, I'm still happy with the band.
What funny stories about engagement rings. The only stipulation regarding mine (and yes, it is the original and I have been wearing it 50 years come December) was my diamond could not be larger than the one his sister had just received!! Yes, we are best friends and do keep in touch constantly--she is truly my family now.
Bon go to: www.gardenfestival.org and enjoy the sights.
thanks Marion.
crissy et al - I would never have gotten a 1 carat diamond if it hadn't been for six dances in a row at the Longbranch with another man! LOL. remember, that rock had to be visible from the other side of the dance floor - their dance floor was about 30 to 40 feet wide!!! and twice as long. remember where I wrote we'd shopped for diamonds before that and he almost caved at getting married because of the prices? those were for 1/2 carat!
[never fear, my sis clued me into a discount place here in town. mine cost 1/2 what that 1/2 carat did...]
LOL
have y'all seen on line anywhere to buy quilt patterns? I've heard there's one for irises.
Good Evening Ladies,
Got up early to go visit my brother. Starting tomarrow we will have to make appts for visits, so I don't know when we'll get to see him again. Anyhoo on the way down there at 5 am I came upon a drunk driver. told mom to call 911 as she was telling dispatcher where we were the guy went from the center lane and crashed into a cement wall and kept on going!!!! This other truck got behind him and tried to get him to pull over. I think the guy was able to get close enough to get license # because he then pulled over and made a call. Cops never did show up and the guy turned off the freeway. Wonder how he felt later today when he saw the damage to his truck, lol.
So last night I was chatting with this guy that I had been checking out for awhile even before I met Steve. He kept sending me "I'm interested in you" flirts and i wouldn't respond. Well I gave in last night and we started chatting. He lives here in my home town about 6 miles from me. He kept saying that I look familiar. I've never seen him before. Anyways I asked what he did for fun other than camping and fishing. He said he plays darts at a friends house on Tuesday night. I said "Oh I bowl on Tuesdays" He asked what league, that he has friends that bowl on Tuesday. LOL he works with a guy that is on my mom's team. OMG!! what a small town, lol. So we chatted for awhile he then asked if I'd like to meet sometime for a drink. I said Yes. His name is Dave and he is only 43. I brought that up and he said that age is just numbers, and that he thought I was a cutie and sexy. And he said that he liked my hair. I'm so bad, but this is kind of fun, lol. And while I'm chatting with him, I'm texting with Steve on my cell phone, lol. Shame on me two timing,LOL...........The thing with Steve (as much as I adore him) is he has more problems to take care of than I do. And he can never really commite to a serious date. Every time we plan one something comes up. So I need to "shop around" lol. I have a feeling that Dave wil show up at the bowling alley Tuesday night. So anyhooo I'll keep you ladies posted on "The Romances of Cindy" LOL!!!!!! Steve is at his mom's right now trying to get some much needed rest, he is still not up to par and his bp is still too high. He said he'll talk to me later. I'll probably be asleep before he wakes up.
wow Cindy - small town!
Dave's half carat, let's see, I know the receipt is right here...
Here it is!!
Round
Clarity SI2
Color G
Oh look, I found a color grading scale...
So Color G is the whitest "near colorless" there is, three categories of "colorless" above G.
And "SI2 Clarity (Slightly Included) are used to describe those stones with small inclusions which are easy or very easy to see under ten power magnification and proper lighting. Occasionally, inclusions in the SI category are visible to the unaided eye."
Which mine is very visible to my unaided eye, but I don't care.
The diamond was $1100.00 and that poor beat up band was $100.00.
Cindy you are way too funny, and I'd be doing the same thing. Just remember of those who didn't want to date you because of your 'baggage' lol! They're such losers! I'd be afraid to date someone so close by, there's a lot of nuts out there that will follow you around, that I wouldn't be doing. He wouldn't know where I lived until I had dated him once :) Dave is a good name though! LOL
Well Beans, it's already 8:15 on Sunday night, have to go to work tomorrow. Booo.
Wonderful stories ladies! Cindy, as long as you don't comit to one guy, I don't think there is anything wrong with checking out others.
Good morning to all. Coffee is on! Granola bars to go with!
Bon, try this link, for the iris quilt! SO pretty! There are several to choose from, and if you decide to make one, we want a picture!
http://www.clotilde.com/list.html?criteria=iris
Well it is good morning and see you all in a couple of days. I am returning to Gaineville earlier than planned as a friend passed away this weekend and I am going back to attend the service. Will just stay over until after the garden circle luncheon. So keep up the thread, have fun and will chat when I return home.
hmmmmmmm my engagement right - bought it at WalMart lol
My DH had the most romantic/sweet proposal though ^_^
We'd talked about marriage, cuz I said at my age I wasn't going to do the "casual fling" thing...
Christmas '97 he said - "I can't give you your Chrismas present until I talk to your Mom", so when we called to exchange Christmas greetings, I said to him "well, you've talked to Mom, so where's my present?"
He said "I have to see her". We had to pickup my son & his g/f and go there, so I was anxious to do that - we left early lol I was so antsy to leave their place!
When we so to Mom's, I kept saying - "ok, where is it?"
He called to my Mom, they went into her bedroom and were there for quite a few minutes, and no one in the family was talking (about 8 of us), waiting for them to return.
When they did, I said "Well.........?!?!"
He got down on one knee, in front of everyone, and asked me to marry him - he said he had to ask mym's permission! (I was 43 at the time and this would be my 2nd marriage LOL)
I was dumbfounded - couldn't speak.... my brother finally said "I suppose there's going to be a 'YES' here, sometime?" YES, I said lol
What a sweet man, my hubby is! My Mom was tickled that he asked her permission (my Dad had passed away many years ago, or he would have asked him. I know my Dad would have loved Bob ^_^
~Susan~
AW Susan how sweet ^_^
That was such a romantic proposal! Everyone has such great stories about engagement rings, etc. I think I missied the boat. Got married and 9 months later at Christmas I got engagement ring. We do things a little backwards. It was wrapped in box after box after box until there was one large box. I got tired after a few boxes and ready to give up. So, I was pregnant when I got my ring. LOL
That's what Dave did, he put it in a clothing box and I was thinking, "He better not have got me clothes for Christmas, I've only known him a couple months!" LOL In that box was a smaller box, in that box was the jewelery box and then I was thinking earrings or necklace or both, but it was an engagement band! Woo Hoo!!
so we're telling engagement stories heh? y'all will love this!
Randall must have asked me to marry him twice a day for 2 months....or more...he started hinting first. Must have explained a hundred times I didn't ever want to marry again. and I wasn't going to live with him either, made THAT mistake the first time - I had two young kids to consider.
he was a game programmer and asked me to CES, so I could get to know what he did for a living. After I'd said yes, and he'd bought the tickets, he then informed me I'd meet his folks there in Las Vegas. I a nervous wreck for five weeks.
Adored them immediately. While there, after they approved of me and I of them, he must have toured me (and them) past 2 dozen wedding chapels. I kept saying ya didn't just waltz in the door, he didn't know ya had to have a license to marry! After they went home to AZ, I realized I missed them! our last night we went to the new Excalibur Hotel and saw/ate King Arthur's Court dinner and show.
Meeting his folks was a turning point. (didn't do that the first time) Had been thinking hard, or maybe it was the drinks - I threw caution and common sense away.... after we came out of the dinner theatre, I was looking at little glass blown figures in the gift shop when he came up behind me, put his arms around my waist and whispered in my ear, "Will you marry me wench?" and I said "OK".
He was so used to hearing no! he whined and fussed about me always saying no. I grinned to myself and didn't say a word.
Later that night in bed, he asked again, and I just looked at him and said, "I already said OK 2 hours ago!" He looked at me kinda funny, thought a minute, then started crowing! wanted to go do it right away - I said NO, my family and kids had to be there, and I was getting married in a church, not a casino. he insisted we had to get dressed and go back into the casino and win the price of an engagment ring. [that's a whole story by itself!]
when we told my daughter, age 11, she had to think about it, came back with a yes 2 days later. when we told my son, age almost 9, he high fived Randall and grinned at me and said, "what took you so long, Mom?"
....and y'all already know how I got cold feet and started dragging my heels.....he gave me the 1 carat ring on Valentines day, at dinner...with both kids, of course! same restaurant as our first date. (think he wanted witnesses that time)
awwwww that's so sweet - and the poor guy thought you'd rejected him Yet Again, eh? lol
Bon, that is one nice story!
Thanks for sharing.
Jaye where are you at swettie, hope your getting lots of rest, and have gone to see the Dr. today? Tapping foot!!!
Bon, did you see the iris quilt above? It is so pretty.
Went to a baby shower yesterday, my brother's great granddaughter. I never saw so many baby things, that little girl can wear 3 outfits a day and still not run out of clothes. They grow out of them so fast. Guess I'll have to get out my kitting needles and start on another baby blanket. Sometimes I wish I had another pair of hands.
Jaye, are you feeling better? Hope you got to the doctor and got the meds you need.
where's Jaye? she not better? thought she was doing better.
yes, Linda Kay - that's a great pattern. Marian told me how to go see more, too. Did y'all see the photo of the one irisloverdee showed a picture of over in the irisforum, its on a thread she just started.
Pegi, I would kill to have grandkids to crochet for!!
did y'all just see Dancing with the Stars? it's going to be a hunky season! most of these fellas are in shape!
we went to dinner at Mimi's Cafe. It's Mom's birthday, and my Sis and BIL's 24th anniversary today. it seemed strange not having my nephew there - he's off to Stevens - his freshman year. He's already met a girl, and we're hoping for info from the Internet on her. the modern world......

I'm here!
I know you all forgave me for being missing yesterday. Promised Kel to take one day off on everything again. Am feeling much better yesterday and today and no I didn't see that PA.
Kel was strapped with responsibilities and since I haven't been barking, temp. back to normal, I happily chose to not do anything, just veg.
(((((Maid M))))) So sorry to read of your friend's passing.
What a romantic proposal Susan and Bonnie.
My ex asked my dad for my hand in marriage. Mum was not happy, as she's one year older than my ex, but they consented on the condition that he converted into a Muslim. He was willing to do it, but I told them "NO WAY". Since he is Catholic, and parents said I'm praying to the wrong god, and my parents agreed he should be praying towards Mecca..... I told them why weren't 2 wrong gods fighting up there! (More on Plato's line)
Islam is very strict. Families are supposed to disown their kids if they marry heathens. My sisters who marry into other races, had their husbands embrace Islam.
Guess Jesus already had a plan for me then :D
My ex is saved..
Now Kel... he was literally 'gifted' to me by God. I was swearing off men. Told Him the next one will be His choosing.
Can't believe that a trip to MB will lead to a long distance romance.
Nothing romantic about the proposal.. just a "Wanna get married?".
Yah, Pegi, I'd crochet for grandkids too!!
Trisha, haven't seen you lately. Hope you are okay. I miss you.
Hard to get rid of this gal, LK :D But I still can't get to starting the tote.
Maybe tomorrow. Dmail me a pic once you've finished will you, unless I'm your buddy!
Crissy, be happy at work.
Don't kow why making a bag is so hard, but when your not close to a store to get supplies, it makes it real difficult! I have one tote about half way done, but I need more stiffener, and I can't find it online anywhere, so I am going to San Antonio this week-end for my Granddaughters 10th Birthday, I will find some shop while I am there!
Hard to beleive she is 10 already!
Look at my Angel garden. Since the temps have been cooler here the past few weeks, they have decided to just go crazy, and grow. Most of them have "Y'd", and several of them are full of buds! It smells so good 20 feet away!
Jaye so glad to hear your feeling better. Now just take it easy, so you do not relapse!

Good morning!
My goodness, enjoyed reading about the engagements!
Such sweet stories.
LOL, Jaye, some of the simplest questions are truley romantic, if kel asked you any other way would have been way out of Charachter, don't you think.
My DH, actually asked proposed twice.
First time was at a bowling alley...Said he had to talk to me about something very serious, would I go out with him that night.
He sounded more serious then I had ever heard him. I was so nervous, forgot my ID, so we went went to the Bowling alley were we were on a legue, knew they would serve me alcohol! lol. So over a pizza and a Miller he talked about family(again) and finally asked if I would please marry him. I burst into tears, I really thought he woas going to break up with me...
We did break up, my choosing...Lasted about a month. He continued to come over and we managed to reconcile our differences.
That summer we went Camping at Bigfoot State Park...It was a gorgeous day, we decided to go for a swim and as we played and splashed around, He got this concerned look on his face, said he was only going to ask this one time. Said I love you, will you Marry Me?
Without hestitation, I said yes!
We were married 4.5 years later! And, almost 25 years later, he is still my knight in shining arnor.
October 12 is our 30 years together...Yep, God sent him to me too and I know I am one lucky lady.
That is my personal fairytale and oh i would do it allover again, in a heartbeat.
AW you guys, such romantic stories. When my hubby proposed to me he was drunker than a skunk and we were at a Moose campout. When we told everyone at the pot luck that night, it turned out to be a "engagement party" lol. So the next morning when we went out fishing I asked my hubby "Do you remember anything from last night" "Yea" I said what and then he says "Will you marry me" this time he was sober, lol. We had a garden wedding at some friends house. He made the arch that we stood under and I decorated it with lots of flowers. I kep that arch for years, then with all the moving we did it fell apart:(
Boy this online dating thing is getting FUN!!! I am now chatting with a 3rd guy who just happens to have a Harley :) 2009 Streetglide. He does not know what I look like as I haven't posted a pix on the site. So he wants to see a pix of me. This guy is 55, own his own business, lives about 17 miles from me is, 5'11" brown hair, blue eyes and his name is Harold and a smoker dang!!! Well , I gotta go to Curves.
TTYL
Bummer LK! Me too get most of bag supplies online. Now that I have everything I need the pattern I chose don't need all except for the canvas as base.
Knowing you, you'd be having a merry time with your grandaughter besides enjoying yourself at the craft shops.
You'd be having so many blooms bet another bed for next year is in the plannings;)
Yep sistah Judy. You met that man and he can be blatantly straight forward!!! Romantic to him is playing Reggae music and a point to the bedroom!!
Sis, Steve chose the right woman ;)
Your next arch will be a one made with some HD materials, Cindy!
Bonnie I'll never have grand kids. That is a neat story. Hope you had a nice dinner. Too cute about your nephew lol!
LOL that's too cute Judy!
Jaye that's an interesting story and it's always nice when they ask your parents first. Glad you're feeling better and I 'always' have fun at work LOL
Isn't it funny how they work and work and work to get under our skin? I never used any caution anyway when dating lol
Cindy lol make sure he doesn't bring it in the house, and he doesn't go through 20 packs a day (you know what I mean lol!) Dave met my dad about a year before he met me, then when I met Dave my dad was with me and didn't recognize him, but Dave recognized my dad and our very first conversation was, "I know him! He's got to be your dad, you look just like him!" LOL
Busy busy busy! Have a great day! Wanna say something but won't... LOL
LOL y'all! such nice stories. remember, my story would have been short and sweet too....if I hadn't been such an obstinent coward!
Cindy, Jaye, Randall and I met through a dating service. I'd fallen in love for the first time since ex and it didn't work out. then dated a guy it was just stupid to date. I was mad. started praying over it. Asked God to send me the person He wanted me to have because I was lonely and getting myself into trouble. talked to my girlfriends about it. Amy talked me into trying a dating service.
Amy is a 5'10' former model blond who was disgusted with the egotistical men she met. She discovered 4 times more men join than women ended up dating professional men that treated her well. I negotiated the fees from $1400 a year, to $150 for 3 months (the summer). Met Randall three weeks after starting to pray. He is terribly shy.
Like Cindy, we talked a great deal on the phone before meeting. I thought he was the nicest man I'd ever met, and was going to be a friend.... which he still is.
Just saw on the news.. flooding in Ga.
Sistah Deborah and Donna (Gapeahen). Hope you're not affected.
Check this out..
