Lynnie that sounds good. I have never made a cake that had filling in it. Hard to do? Never mind the last thing I need around here is something sweet I like to eat and can make. LOL
Venice sorry I can't help you, sure moon or Dave could.
I need to get outside too. I have to start emptying the pool but I don't know where I am going to run the water to. I planted pumpkins in the spot that I usually do it in. Sure the chlorine wouldn't help them grow!
Might kill any bugs though.
GYPSY LIVES, GARDEN STORIES and FOOTLESS CHICKENS

Morning moon.
just like magic you appear
Interesting Julie...had this discussion with a friend a while back. His take was similar to yours, only he felt that it was a matter of becoming god-like or elevating oneself to the same status of Creator. He likened gardens to personal worlds where the gardener is god to create and destroy at will...to sculpt and mold living things to suit his fancy....rather like a plant meglomaniac....grin
What happened to Jim? Haven't seen him for awhile.
Hope he didn't OD on caramel sauce. lol
Jim if ya every show up wanted to let ya know:
That Mrs. Wages mix I used to make salsa worked well and tasted good too. Only I made the medium one first (thank goodness) and it is almost to hot for me. Don't know what I'm going to do with the hot packet but it won't be making me salsa I know that.

That's what happens when you travel on moonbeams, Pam....sometimes you slip in quite unexpectedly...grin
I am with you....all my recipes for chocolate stuff are in a separate binder, helps to keep temptation at bay....sorta.lol
Lynnie, I am sure that cake was every bit as yummy with pink frosting as with chocolate. Think I might even have to try it with white chocolate frosting. Hope the young one had a great birthday...GSJordan, GSAidan and Jordan's little half sister are all Virgos as is dhJim's mom. What a group of perfectionists...grin
Moon I figured out why I couldn't get rid of the ads.
Nonsubscribers don't get that choice. You can uncheck it under tools it doesn't matter.
They are gone now.
I couldn't find this forum either remember. It wasn't on the list until I subscribed along with a few others that magically appeared.
I am a virgo, someone forgot the perfection part tho!
It would be worth the subscription price to keep the pop up ads at bay....grin
Not that Virgos are perfect, Pam, they just tend to strive for perfection in the things that matter to them...grin
I knew what you meant about the perfection, I should have worded it different.
I tend to strive for if you can't see it ( a mistake) from the road its alright. Drives my DH crazy!!
Maybe he should have been a Virgo instead of a Taurus
And you're right about those ads. :)
Of course, I did mention that my MIL is a Virgo....she is perfect....just ask her....LOL
My GSEthan is a Taurus.....but he is not quite 5 mos old, but pretty sure he will have strong opinions about things already....grin
I better get outside or I am going to talk myself out of doing anything.
That will not be good since I have some new plants that need tending to. Need to go spray more roundup where I pulled the weeds.
I think the bottle says after 1 or 2 days you can plant. Gonna give it a good dose of preen also after planting
Asked DH if that tree they have would block the sun, he told me I really should have paid more attention in school when they were teaching which way was N,S,E , and W.
We don't talk MIL here. Imagine someone not liking me!!!
Sometimes my mouth says I should have been a taurus.
Pam, I can truly say I cannot imagine anyone not liking you...but since it is a MIL I understand...grin Have fun playing with the new plants...later, Moon.
Lynnie, Julie, here is a link I think you both will enjoy. This place is in Ohio, and I call it a "drool" link. GRIN
http://www.glasshouseworks.com/pageone.html
Your drool link ID the tall yellow daylily I sent venice.
It is a Chinese Daylily Herercucallis Ahissima.
One down lots to go. ha ha
Outside I go or DH is gonna shut of the power around here.LOL
Lynn, I'm coming to your house!! Save me some cake!!
I love peanutbutter and chocolate together..........Yum ^_^
Ok, now I have to go back and finish reading...................LOL
JJ, I send you a d-mail...........I talked to my son.
So glad you found the link useful, Pam. I can get lost in those links just looking.
Venice, maybe what you have is a Helichrysum, curry plant
http://www.mountainvalleygrowers.com/heltalicum.htm
This thread has gotten over 200 posts. Guess I need to start a new one....
GARDEN CHATTER...here comes Fall
Moon, sorta looks like it but it does not have a curry smell or much of any smell! Try again, please!!!
Oh no, I think I missed JJ.
Jean, I want that cat ^_^
Moon, whatever it is, do you think it is a perennial? It hasn't grown much but most of it was covered by those sweet potato vines, which I have cut off. Should I give it some MiracleGro? Should I bring it inside?
They usually recommend not giving daylilies any fertilizer until 3 weeks after has been planted. Does that sound right to you?

Kassy, I knew that you would love that little guy....grinFrom what I have read, they make pretty good pets...especially for someone who is up at night...grin
Venice, here is a link to tons of Artemisia pictures. Perhaps you can match yours to one of them.
http://images.google.com/images?q=artemisia%20varieties&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
Hey Venice, your plant does show similar leaves to Artemisia filifolia which has linear leaves, often singular or sometimes dividing into three leaflets. It does not have the pinnatisect leaves that other Artemisia species have.
Trina what species of Jasminum do you have.
To over-winter a Passiflora vine indoors, I would trim the vine back so that the plant bushes out more. Add some compost to the pot, or repot it. Give it a balanced liquid fertilizer. Don't over-water it during the winter months.
Carol, it is a little late in the year to feed much of anything as most will be going dormant for the winter and you do not want to stimulate new tender growth on your plants. The daylily will be fine without being fed now. It will establish itself over the winter. The only thing I give new plants is Greenlight root stimulator....helps prevent some of the shock from transplanting, but does not encourage new leaf growth, just root growth.
Without a proper ID, I can't tell you whether you should lift that plant or not. It may be artemisia annua, which is an annual artemisia and no matter what you do, it would have a very short life span. I am not that familiar with the artemisias, as I have only grown Powis Castle and Limelight....and Limelight is a grossly invasive plant here. Been out of the ground for 3 years and I am still pulling up new sprouts from it.
See you all at the new thread....makes loading go a little quicker.
Sand Sagebrush, Artemisia filifolia, is a deciduous shrub that grows up to four feet. It will hold it's foliage till the fall or sometimes into winter.
It is native from north-east Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona up to South Dakota, growing in mountainous areas from 4,000 to 6,000 ft. elev.
Plants are longer lived and hardier when grown in poor dry soil. They prefer a warm sunny dry position in the garden.
Winter-dead branches should be trimmed off.
A tea made from the leaves is good for indigestion.
Dave, I found that Artemisia filifolia is sweetly pungent. What I have hardly has any smell.
Are you growing the plant in a dry type of habitat?
Your plant looks like it might be a ground cover. A. filifolia is supposed to be a shrub, 2 - 4 ft. high.
Nite Dave and venice, bed time for me ^_^
Aloha ahiahi Kassy!
My ground is so dry! It is 2:30 in the afternoon here and very bright. Can I just lay the hose down and water everything?
Yes, just turn it on low so it doesn't create a wash out.
It doesn't seem to fit exactly into any species that I can find.
From the looks of it, it doesn't seem to be an annual.
Venice, compost the tomatoes if you want to. Or, do the southern thing and slice them, batter and fry. Good recipe in the new Southern Living Cook Book for fried green tomato BLTs.
Say me some of that peanut butter cake, Lynnie.
Live dangerous jjs, make the hot salsa.
To everyone else, a fond hello.
Good to see you Jim. Hope all is well with you and yours. How is your cousin faring?
