Lilies in your garden

Lilies are probably my favourite flowers in my mixed perennial gardens. They are not difficult to grow and add so much colour. I garden in Canada in zone 2b or 3. The Lilium genus has hybrids and species to extend bloom for a few months of the gardening season. I will share some of my photos of lilies with you here so that all members can see them and add their own pics of lilies that they grow.

This first one is a LA lily called Aladdin Sun. LA lilies are a cross between longiflorum and Asiatic lilies.

I get my lilies now from reputable growers, to be sure that I get healthy and true to name bulbs. This one comes from Valley K Lily Ranch, formerly Valley K Greenhouse or plantlilies.com

Here is Black Out, an Asiatic, growing with rose Morden Fireglow.

This one is called Brushstrokes, another Asiatic, also from Valley K.

Butter Pixie is a nice bright yellow. It multiplies quickly and can be placed close to the front of a bed becasue it isn't as tall as most.

Calgary Tower, a magnificent red Asiatic lily I got at Valley K a few years ago. Lots of pop from this one.

Cappuccino is one of the newer stylish lilies. I don't collect too many of these super speckled ones, but there were a few that I liked. Everyone doesn't seem to spell this one the same and it isn't registered so I'm not sure. This one came from Lily Nook.

Cavalese is another LA.

One of the best reliable pink Asiatic lilies, Chianti. I love this one in bouquets. Another acquisition, I think from Valley K.

Connecticut King has been in my garden for many years. I still love it.

Here is another shorter one by Ed McRae, Crimson Pixie. Butter Pixie was one of his babies too.

Dolly Madison is more the deeper coloured pink that goes with the rosy tones. Another one from Valley K or Lily Nook, not in the registry.

I adore 'Morden Butterfly' echoes, it is a must and for me it is so tough to capture just how beautiful it really is! Enjoying those pictures as the garden is near rest here. Thanks.

I guess I could throw in an orange one too. I really do like orange lilies as well. Just not so much, ha ha. This is Eloise from Valley K

Lynette is a gem, the owner of Valley K Lily Ranch. I love the selection of both the older, nearly lost from the garden varieties, to the newest lilies around. Then there is her website, with some of the most amazing lilies currently undergoing trials. It's just a real pick me, especially in the middle of winter.

Have fun shopping lilypon ;)

Just one more for tonight, an Asiatic that just keeps getting better for me, Sally Jo Ann.

You better hurry Pam, I just notice her catalogue keeps getting smaller as she sells out, Looks like Sally Jo Ann is gone now.
