Crissy what are nylons?? :)) One of the many beauties of working outside.
Bon funny you would mention about cleaning house. I am always amazed at people that can't find work. A lot of people feel that it is beneath them to do manual labor, cleaning, etc. I was raised to believe that any honest work is good work and you should be glad to have it. Guess I am just old fashioned. I always tell young people that are talking about college that they should learn a trade. In this kind of economy those folks are the ones who have work. But the young folks want an easy job with a big paycheck and they feel that is due them. I don't mean to come across anti- college, but I guess I am. I've known more people with advanced degrees working as receptionists or waiters for minimum wage. Sorry, I guess that sounded like a vent sort of. Just get mad a young people especially around here. They get everything handed to them on a silver platter and they think that's what life is all about.
Gotta run, us tradespeople never get caught up. :0)

I'm here sistahs!! Glad you don't need me to chat!
Been a rather 'crazy' day today. Started at 7 this morning and I just got home :( No excuses to ignore my sistahs, but I have to feed the garden plus the furry babies.......... and did I tell you beside the 6 puppies, we too now rescued 2 kitties? One of them lost both eyes from a severe infection.
After these chores, I have to return to town before the bank closes.
So don't let me stop you from your fun. And please, don't behave!!
I shall be back this evening.
Whistling at Cindy's "Newbie"!!! Man, he's cute!!!
...ah but we miss you Jaye!!!
Oh I knew I should have elaborated on that ROFLOL
...seems like I used to know what nylons were. Yup, I'm sure at one time in my life I wore them. haven't in nearly .......a lot of years.
Then something came along called, hmmm, let me see, seems like they were called "pantyhose.: yup, that's it, panty hoses. darnest things, you didn't need girdles with straps for those nylons, but if you ran one you had to throw both away, which was always so darned wasteful I wondered why anyone would wear them darn things.
got chicken breasts in marinading for dinner. that and some pasta, I'm thinking, and some grilled squashes. our gas grills is on the frizt, so the George Forman will do the honors.
Whew.. what a day!
Finally able to sit and read all that are posted.
Donna, so sorry to read you're still under the weather. Are you taking supplemental vitamins and minerals? Got to be kind to your system.
Supposedly to have started on my tote today too, LK. I'm sticking to a simple pattern, so that I can finish it in time. By the way, how's the weather there?
Cindy, is this it? I agree with Deborah.. his eyes are gorgeous.
Wonder what he'd think if he found out a bunch of nutty gardeners are scoping him out.
Lolol Maid M!!!!
Crissy, she got you there! And yes, you can count me to testify that I've seen your perfection at work, and you're truly the epitome of a perfect woman....sans competition;)
You know we love you!!
You are absolutely right, Trisha. God has something better in store for Laura.
Bonnie, I hope I'm not too late!! Gonna check the classifieds in a bit. That's what we had tonight.. roast beef sandwiches. Store bought tho', but so good.
My ex's sister and her best friend make a very good living cleaning houses. Her husband's the town mayor, and she's proud of what she does. Says, it's honest work, and the time is flexible.
Completely agree with you, Juanita.
Kel's HS classmates are pretty surprised when he chose to work with appliances. Menial work, is beneath most of them....including his own brother, who is a banker.
But Kel has a trade that's always in demand and he is his own boss.
Nylons!! I gave up on them aeons ago!!!
Nylons??? EEewwwwww!!!! What is the saying?...."If I have to wear panty hose I am not going!"
High 5 Trisha!!!
But there are some work places that require women to wear nylons if they're wearing dresses.
Urrrggggggh.. nylons and high heels got to be invented by men. Only to punish us!
Well, guess I won't be working in any of those places will I?
Perhaps, they'd allow dress pants!
Patrick Swayze passed away. I've always admire his acting and especially his devotion to his wife.
Aww he did, what a fight he gave.
woohooo going for a bike ride! Get to wear my new leathers!
Jacket and boots...
Hi ya sistahs, lol, not too excited am I?
You betchya.
See you in a bit....
lol, I could use one of those nylon legs, in black please to hold my hair down.
ROFLOL, when i was about 7 had a nylon to hold my pixie down during night!
Other wise I would have been totally in style today with hair standing strait up, hahahha, and kids use
hair podge
how are the little kitties Jaye? Bet that lil blind one will be just so full of love he'll be good as new!
lolol, did you see I did post way up there today...
Happy smiles for you, of course armwraps all around.
Hey sistah Judy!! How could I miss replying to your post!!! See I have C Still RS bad!
I'll alert you when there's another apron swap. Didn't think Liz sews.. but then she's full of surprises ain't she. Ooooh, I'd love to skydive one day, but I think my doctors won't allow it.
Looking forward to the 'letter'. Your words just pour out flawlessly. One day, I'll be queing up at Books-A-Million for one of your book signing!!!!
As for the kitties, I had to bring them along with me today wherever I went, 'cause they got to be hydrated every hour. I've already named the blind one Possum, cause with his sunken eye sockets, he looks like one.
Armwraps to you too.. our favorite Chippewa!!
I started a thread called "Remember Patrick Swayze" so we can do all of our Patrick Swayze chit chat on there too!
LOL Jaye you are just too funny!
I'm not wearing dress shoes without some sort of something, that stinks and gives blisters, and since I have a BA Degree in IT I work in an office, and most offices require dressing up to some sort. Knee highs work just fine with slacks and they're no different than socks, it's the shoes that will kill ya. Our building is kept at 60 degrees so I'm not wearing dresses, I'll be coughing my head off, I do anyway...
Yay bike rides!!
That's so sad, a blind kitty. Do you have pictures of these dolls?
Sorry Jaye, not perfect!!! Just human and mostly slow!!!! Well did we have a rain tonight. I think there are some areas still to come over us but makes sleeping all that much better. Been trying to get caught up on the laundry and some other things today. Is there ever an end to it? How dumb of me to ask--of course not--as long as we wear clothes!! Hummm got me thinking now.
Oh Juanita you said it perfectly!!! Agree, agree, agree. Oh BTW, thank you for the fantastic surprise I got in the mail today. I love the pat and notepad!!!! Now that I have finally gotten my camera back from Kim I will get updated on all the pictures I am long over due to post.
Night all.
Maid M.. only one solution to your dilemna of washing.. start your own nudist colony!! :D
Now how many swaps have been waiting for your pics, Maid M?
I'm going to wait till Possum fills up his cheeks/face a little, before I take any pictures, Crissy. He's really a sick little kitty, worse than Sweet Sistah Hope. But this time, I'm more aware of what to do.
Will check out the site tomorrow.
For now, I need to head for bed.
Good night Trisha, Judy, LK, Juanita, Deborah, Maid M., Crissy, Bonnie, Cindy..... and whoever's lurking out there.
Uh, did youhave to ask? LOL A a fat quarter swap, flat envie and I think that is it!
o wow - Patrick Swayze passed away? Gosh I miss out on the news, don't I?
I knew he was very ill..............I was watching him & Baby dance the other night..what a hunk!....... siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh
~Susan~
Hello Ladies,
First I want to say to Judy......Lucky girls I so miss ridin' scooters. Let's see a pix of you in your leathers. I still have mine not going to part with them just yet, Steve it talking of getting another Harley. He has had two in the past and wants another.
So Jaye asks is he the one.........Boy I sure hope so. Today we chatted IM for awhile then while we are chatting he calls me on my cell, lol. Said he needed to hear my voice kept saying how much he missed me. We only met the one time, lol. So then we hang up cell phone and continued chatting IM we talked from about 11am until 7:30 pm now that is some serious chatting. We talked about all kinds of things. He wants to take a trip to Alaska for some hunting and fishing, wants me to go. He has a sister that lives there and is going to call and find out if we can come stay for awhile. He said that if things don't work between us as a couple he would really like to remain friends because he can talk to me about anything. I told him that I'm hoping that things do work out because I'm looking for someone to spend the rest of my life with and I think he may be it. He makes me laug all the time. Not just a chuckle I mean a good belly shaking laugh. He shared some pretty hairy things with me. Things that happen to friends of his and things that happened to him as a kid. He had it really rough. This man is a jack of all trades he has done just about any kind of work a man knows. He gave me advice on some stuff around the house and said that he would help with whatever I need help with. He told his mother about our first date, she said that was great she was happy that he found someone that he like alot just meeting the first time. I asked him if I was going to get to meet her soon, yep his mother insisted on it, lol. I saw a picture of her and she looks like a sweetheart. Now I wished my mom would be like that, but she is very cold when it comes to meeting men in my life. So we are planning on getting together tomarrow after I get done bowling, that's if he doesn't get called to work. If he does then we have made plans to meet Wednesday for sure. I told him I was not waiting until Saturday to see him, he said he wasn't either, lol. I have never fell for a guy like this in my whole life, this is really strange. I don't believe in love at first sight so what is this that is happening. I have to share with you some poems he wrote. I cracked up. So I will let you all know what happens tomarrow. ^_^
A Fisherman’s Prayer
By S.L. (Trucker) Reno
Dear Lord, Bless this boat and all who sail upon her.
Guide us through ruff waters and bring us home safely again.
Teach us to be courteous to others, as we would have them treat us.
Help give the younger inexperienced Fishermen/women, the Wisdom to listen to older and wiser Fishermen/women, on how to tell the difference between a Striper and a Carp.
Teach us how to find and land the big fish or at least, how to lie about it convincingly, when getting back to shore.
Show us how to hold our tempers, as our wife’s and/or girlfriend’s, out fish us, than help us to talk them into cleaning the catch of the day.
Give us strength to smile as we get hooked in the hand, arm, neck, face or butt, by our fishing partner, and the courage not to throw said fishing partner overboard when they start to laugh.
Show us how to hold our heads up high as we return back to the dock, with no fish in the locker.
Help us not to loose our favorite Fly’s, Lures or Casting Bait when getting snagged in trees, rocks, brush or underwater hazards.
Please Lord, let us not be the one’s being towed back to shore for any reason.
And Lord, Bless our worse day fishing to be better then our Best Day working.
Amen!
Fish’n on the Pond
By (S.L.) Trucker Reno
T’was the morn’n after Christmas and all across the pond,
not a creature was stir’n, not even a frog.
The morn’n was so crisp, it could form ice, the air was so dense, you could cut it with a knife.
The dog & I walked down to the dock, and loaded the boat, an old 15-foot glass, but it’s still afloat. With an old Merc on the back, it can still get us around, it may be old, but it’s still quite sound. The tackle laid out all nice and neat, all checked out in the box, by my feet.
All of a sudden, what did we hear, but some fancy new rigs, that did appear. These new rigs were lined up in a row, with fancy Bass boats, all in tow.
They launched their boats and tied them to the dock, then started to load them with beer, snacks and sandwiches and a lot.
What a party they’ll have, on the pond all right, just trying to keep warm, that’ll be a fun sight.
They were bragg’n about their fancy tackle they had and how much it cost, how much they spent on their rods, but never bought at cost.
They made cracks about my lil old glass boat, and my lil Merc, they bet it would smoke, sputter and pop, then stop with a jerk.
They got in their boats and casted off, talking about who’d be first, catch’n the Big One, the Trophy, as they started off.
With a crack of the throttle, they raced on, up on plan, and were soon gone.
Off to the farthest shore they went, to catch those Trophy fish, the Big One, the Keeper, the fish that were heaven sent.
As I left the dock and started putt’n along, it a cured to me to wonder, how these Doctor’s, and Lawyer’s and professional what-nots, were go’n to catch these Trophy fish, with their fancy tackle and expensive rods, still sitt’n on the dock.
Morning everyone! Coffee is on!
Cindy, please rememeber to get plenty of rest. Sounds like your going to be busy. Steve sounds like a nice guy. Love the poem!
Juanita, beautiful yellow rose, but I don't know what the orange beauty is?
Jaye, we would love to see the new family member please? Sounds like your going to be a busy Momma for a bit!
Nice thing about being retired, I don't have to wear panty hose anymore!
I will be att he sewing machine for a bit.
Jaye, I thik my tote will be reversible, but a simple pattern as well.
Later
LK
Juanita that looks like a Spider Lily, they're real popular here and I don't have any :(
Cindy I love the poems and it does sound like he just might be the one! I bet you are just jumping for joy all over the place.
I'm so busy, I have enough work to keep me busy through Christmas and that's not good. I'll see ya'll later on today sometime!
morning all! just wanted to wave hello to sisters.
had another almost sleepless night, but this time it was in anticipation of an email co-op for irises. am impatiently waiting the witching hour to start ordering........can't think of anything else. I didn't put in any orders for irises in the "normal season" and started having "withdrawal symptoms". couldn't sleep so curled up with latest Baldacci novel and eventually fell asleep on sofa. so had some sleep and only myself and my nerves to blame.
to uptight to read, will come back to y'all and catch up after 10PST. Meanwhile, what do I do when nervous? same as always, I'll go clean something!
ah - Love at first sight........... it's a wonderful feeling, and it's how I felt about my DH (of 11 years, next month ^_^ )
Best of luck and love to you, Cindy!!
~Susan~
Sisters, I need your help. been hanging in the iris forum waiting for the co-op to start. lovelyiris is a wonderful encourager of others. she's experiencing a flood in eastern Texas, and they are under water and stranded. she's got two threads in the iris forum if you want to go see. 10" rain one day, 15" the next.
please put these Texas folks in your prayers, too, for their safety.
anyone heard from BJ or Phyllis today?
BJ lives too near that dam. lovelyiris says the dams are under stress.
Good morning.. however it goes for me this morning, I hope, you all don't have what I'm having. A bad sinus infection :(
Cindy, if a man can make you laugh all the time, he certainly has the temperament of a peacemaker.
Not going to scoff at love at first sight between 2 mature adults. And the laughter plus all the common things you both have together, will certainly just ease you into a wonderful relationship.
Yep, me too Susan. It's love at first sight for Kel and I too.
And thank you for the coffee LK. I ought to start on my tote, but can't function with this head. 2 for 1 sounds like a winner. Mine won't be reversible.
Juanita, Crissy is right. That looks like a "Lycoris" red spider lily.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2109/
This here is the "Crinum" white spider lily, only blooms in the summer and has lush swordlike leaves.
You all have a wonderful Tuesday.
BTW, it's not going to be catfish tonight :(
Thanks Bonnie.. I'll try to get hold of BJ.
Happy Lunch everyone
Just popping in real quick while on brek I had to get out of that shop! The old fart I dont get along with is on my last neve today. He said thanks for calling off he made tons on money and I should just take today too since its DEAD SLOW.. I have done 2 haircuts all day and was forced to sit outside because I cant breath inside the shop because the girl working today booked a perm and the fumes made me not be able to breath. Normally her and I get along well but she has made a few coments today - about me not going to a doctor (i have no insurance or money to go). ughhh So the Manager is the only friend I have left in the shop .. Th eother 3 barbers are plotting against me and making snide comments.. So here I sit sick, still working and my blood pressure is boiling while Im at work.. Wish I didnt have to go back and am really thinking it might be time to figure out another way to make money.. Max is still working with his dad when he can but the applications he has put in havent even got a return call except to say when they start hiring he will be contacted..
We shut the cells down and went to Majic Jack for the phone so its only $20 a year for unlimited local and log distance calling. Smoking is almost ompletely done for both of us especially with us being sik.. Yep Max as it too now. Kids are getting free lunches and Tristen gets breakfast in class every morning as part of the new programs through the elementary schools around here.
Upside is we will have another vehicle soon. Max did a re-modle on his aunts bathroom and she is giving us an older chevy conversion van. Its in great shape and the only thing it will need s a new battery and title , taggs and ect.. Will be nice when nobody has to ride in the bed of the truck for us to go somewhere as a family wit hall 4 of us. Just gotaa get everything in order for transferring things into our name. Insurance should go down since we will get multiple car discount too.
Sorry for ranting just having a really rough day..
Huggs
Donna
Definite prayers for those in flood areas and for all of you who fighting illnesses today...
Church lunch at moms and I am also taxi for one of the ladies today so have to run...
If you haven't read Sharran's article today you really should!!
The sun just came out and the feeders and bath are Full of Finches!! Have a great afternoon, will talk to you later.
Donna you need to re-group and go back in with a different thought pattern. I hate it when that happens, just forget they're talking about you, it doesn't matter anyway. And I doubt that old fart made a ton of money, he probably cut one person's hair and he's mad because you got two today with him there, so just trying to make you upset. Is there a possibility you can move to a different shop if worse comes to worse, maybe in a better location where it's busier. The busier it is the less time people have to hen peck and gossip..
I haven't seen BJ in quite a while, wondering how it's going with her exchange student and hopefully she's not in the floods.
hang in there Donna. We can't change other folks, only our own attitudes.
try this, pray for Patience AND Wit AND Lots of Smiles - you giving them. Honey in the voice and Smiles will conquer most ill will situations.
But I've been there. Had a boss's SIL get so darn jealous of me when I consistantly made bigger tips than she did. Caught a tab she wrote up one day (this was in 70s) charging half price on a Chateau Briand! I showed her so she could fix it. Her BIL, my boss, had left our friend Mable in charge. With him not there to see that tab, his SIL threatened to beat me up! I'd never been threatened with bodily harm before! and she kept a cold war with me going for six months. everyone was sick of it. I avoided her, she wouldn't speak to me or would hiss insults at me. Finally, at the company Christmas party at the boss's home, I sat down beside her and suggested we could end the hostilities, in honor of the season, a truce. Know what she said, "but fighting is so much fun!" about two weeks later she left her 5 kids and ran off with someone.
Learned from this that unhappy people share their misery, too often by making others miserable. Also found out that if you turn that around, you are very much valued and well liked. any way to look at this from the other man's and girl's shoes? you arrive and they lose a few much needed sales? it's hard times for everyone.
YOU have PLANT SKILLS, Donna!!! not everyone does. EVEN WALMART has plant sales, and about now some places will hire part time/full time temps for Christmas. you know how to pot up plants? trim them to look good? every other grocery store here has a plant person on staff for potted plants and bouquets. I got a job once by asking for the manager, pointing out something that was lacking (plants not being properly watered and dying) and asking to be hired, went around the shelves and bins explaining what each plant was and how to plant it to him. yes, it's the wrong time of year. but bulb sales come out soon, and they'll need folks for The Tree sales. you have sewing skills right? walmarts need those folks, too! they seldom have a gal with sewing knowledge in their fabrics.
Heck, even Michaels has to have extra staff at Christmas time! you'd be perfect!
A lot of wal marts are getting rid of their fabric section, I wouldn't go there for fabric but flowers maybe. Grocery stores definitely, Hobby Lobby is huge, any craft store, Joann's, Hancock Fabrics, I think you get it :)
Yes misery definitely loves company. How sad to just up and leave your kids! Bonnie's right, if you get this huge positive attitude others will follow, it's easier to smile than frown, your muscles in your face are naturally in a 'smiling' position.
Good Afternoon Ladies,
Well shoot!!! My lunch date with Steve didn't happen, he got called to work. Oh well, that is a good thing though more money for him to take me out for that candle lite dinner, lol.
Once again our hearts are breaking. My daughter's MIL does not have much longer to live. They have her home and Hospice is there to take care of her. She says she just wants to get it over with that she tired of being sick. She has not been able to keep any food down for at least 2 weeks now. I just hope God gives me the strength to stay strong for my daughter and grandkids.
ooooooooh Cindy - how awful for your DD..and your GK's.......
My T&P are there for you all!
~Susan~
Thank You, Susan
Well Ladies, I'm going on my first run with Steve in the morning. I have to leave here by 5:30 am ^_^ Tell ya all about it tomarrow evening
Oh Cindy my thoughts and prayers go out to the family also, how heartbreaking.
I'm so excited for you being able to go on your first run with Steve!
Cindy, saying prayers for your daughters, MIL!
Have lots of fun on in the morning!
Jaye how are you feeling?
Donna, sorry you had a bad day! Hopefully it will be better tomorrow! Never know, just go ask the manager of some of those places! Maybe you will have a better job in the near future?
Hope you all have a good nights sleep.
Hugs Donna. There's nothing else for me to say, but continued prayers for you and your family. Our sistahs here have already posted sage advice.
Cindy, I'm so sorry to read of your DD's MIL. T&P for you and DD's husband's family. If you asked Him for strength, He will grant you that, Cindy.
Hmm.. did you leave your cell number with anyone of us? A man that can write humorous poems like that, we shouldn't have anything to worry about, right?
You enjoy yourself and get to know each other better!
Today, I tried to do a Trisha!! No, not taxi-ing but accompanied Kel on his load runs. Yep, how stubborn can I be. Can't even follow my own advice to some of you. When sick=== DO NOTHING=== if you could afford to stay home.
And yes, I did call BJ, left a message on her cell phone. Her house sits up high above the lake level, so I don't think there's any danger of flooding.
Excedrin for migraines ain't working... where's the Bailey's???
Good night, Trisha, Crissy, Bonnie, LK, Cindy Maid M, Judy and Bon Vivant Susan!
LOL Somewhere I posted I would be back later, and I have no idea which thread that was on. I'm tired, got my belly full of junk, except for the chicken, and I didn't sleep very good last night so I'm going to bed.
Have a wonderful evening everyone and I hope the rain slows way down or ceases for Dave's drive home, it's been pouring off and on all day. There's a Low that is spinning right over us, but it's spinning counter-clockwise instead of clockwise, and moving from East to West. Weird.
