YAY!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Judy - yes I'm a sociable person, and work hard as well.
The new project - yes & no to the more interaction....
A lot of it is organizational - I'll be physically setting up teleconference equipment, before anyone comes to the conference room. A greater part of it will be emailing and receiving snail-mail re: teleconferences. The way I see it is, the only time I'll be interacting face-to-face is when I meet with my team to get this program setup, and when I'm in training to take over from the previous person (who was out-sourced because we didn't have the space to put her). These meetings will be short term.
So, you see, it's not a social outlet, but it WILL keep me very, very, very busy lol
I'll have a lot more external contacts with places like the Mayo Clinic, etc.

Dave gets the whole weekend off, including Monday!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! I am so happy and he wants to go somewhere!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good! What type of "somewhere" are you going to?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We're thinking about Canton Tx or Dallas Ft. Worth...

Terri, thanks for the update on Tubby, and so glad to hear all is negative!
Give him a big ole hug from all of us please!

Spent today painting and shopping with Sage.
We have started matching paintings of two little ducks...she is doing good.....it is very slow compared to what she is used to doing....says she is learning patience painting with me.
We went out to Michael's and got her Watercolor paper, paint brushes and a storage case for her painting things. I picked up some good paper and a couple of brushes for myself too. So we are all set now.

Supposed to have bad weather all weekend....tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be heavy rain, possibly thunder storms.....good time to stay in and paint.

Looks like a lot of good news today....the doctor called with mom's biopsy results and it is NOT skin cancer, which she is prone to!!! We were very relieved!!

Everyone have a Good Night and a great weekend.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning Everyone!!

Great to chat with you too Judy, had a blast! What a doll you are! Have fun at the cottage!

That's great news Trisha! My mom is prone to skin cancer too, as I am too but you know..

We decided to stay home, it's supposed to be storming off and on all weekend here and there, plus it's just too far to drive down on Sunday and come back Monday. I told Dave I need to work on some things around here anyway, and we're supposed to be saving money just in case they shut his company down between November and January.

I need to go out and about today, have laundry going already, daily chores and the fact that I have nothing to wear.

Have a great day everyone!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good Morning, everyone!
I hope Everyone Knows what a wonderful group of people you are!
My thoughts are with you all, on this beautiful long weekend! Have a great Labour Day w/e!

~Susan~

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Home weekend here too.....
Bill works today at the shop.....we bike ride Sunday and he works here at our own shop on Mondays....same ole routine. But that is okay this weekend....rained last night, supposed to be worse today, and more rain tomorrow and Monday then the summer sun comes back in time for the kids to go back to school.

Well, the dog needs to walk, need to fill the bird feeders, pick up in here a bit then I can paint for awhile.

Hope everyone has a great weekend....find sunshine and be safe.

Sweet..Kleenex time

THIS IS A TERRIFIC STORY, BUT YOU MUST READ IT, DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!!

Puppy Size
This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.
'Puppy size!' replied the mother

'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.' 'I know..... we have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration...

Just then Danielle came walking into the office

'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom.

'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed

'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she
said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.

'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning . By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when
visitors weren't permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.
One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said.

'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said.
'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.

'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that
makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day.
They are the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen; you will be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'

I hope your life is filled with Sighs!!!

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends! Life is too short and friends are too few.
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right and pray for the ones who don't.

Betty you said that right, I thank God every day for my friends. Thank you, hope yours is filled with sunshine too!

Dave and I had the best day yesterday! Absence does make the heart grow fonder! Anyway, we piddled around the house, he did some housework while I was next door visiting over there. Went to Little Rock to JC Penney, had a great Chinese Food lunch, he bought all kinds of shirts, Gold Toe Socks, and a pair of shoes. Last night we went to Hot Springs, got there too late to do the Blues Festival but visited a friend we hadn't seen in a long time on the main street, he works at a club called Maxine's, had the best thin crust pizza, watched a set of a Blues band, and were home by 10:30. We get today and tomorrow together too!! Makes the weekend wonderful.

Well I'm going to go continue my birdhouse, see you in a while.

Have a great day everyone!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty always so good to see you back!! We miss you.

Waving to all...... it was almost night time dark this morning and pouring rain when we got up ... can't remember when I it rained that hard.....for now we have bright spot coming through...that is supposed to be our alternating pattern for day....a good day to work on the studio for a bit and maybe paint awhile unless Bill comes up with a better idea.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Smile
Please do not forget your flu shot!!!!
The first half of this makes sense, but I like the second half better.

Eat right!

Make sure you get your daily dose of
fruits and veggies.

Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.

Get plenty of exercise because
exercise helps build your immune system.

Walk for at least an hour a day,

go for a swim,

take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often.
If you can't wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air.
Open doors & windows whenever possible.

Try to eliminate as much stress
from your life as you can.

Get plenty of rest.
OR

Take the doctor's approach.
Think about it...
When you go for a shot,
what do they do first?
They clean your arm with alcohol...
Why?
Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS.
So.......

I walk to the liquor store. (exercise)
I put lime in my Corona. (fruit)
Celery in my Bloody Mary. (veggies)
Drink outdoors on the bar patio. (fresh air)
Tell jokes, laugh. (eliminate stress)
Then pass out. (rest)
The way I see it...

If you keep your alcohol levels up,
flu germs can't get you!

My mother always said,
'A shot in the glass
is better than one in the butt

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL!
Morning Tubby, how you feeling today?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Morning All
I have no energy..Legs are weak...It will get better..I'm in third cycle of treatment..
6 more days..Then 7 days off. Then 21 days more for fourth cycle..Then hopefully the counts will be low enough for transplant..Fingers crossed..LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying daily for you Tubby! Stay strong, I know you can get through this!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning,

Oh, Tubby, keeping fingers crossed and continue prayers.
great Morning smiles, thanks.

Barb, Happy Belated birthday to you!
I hope the day was delightful...what did you do?

LOL, Liz what a great idea having the painter fix the lights, Do you use the clear tacks and then just leave them up? I am excited to hear you are starting the Halloween decorating.
So glad you had such a nice day with Granny.

Trisha, Sounds like you have some good rains, long awaited. Even better for your newly plantings. I hope you'll take a pic of the Canna's.
So how did the work in the studio go, get to do some painting.

Hi Linda Kay, Wow That sure is a full hummers feeder. I can sure see why you enjoy just watching, I'd be mezmorised too.
We only a couple that come around, they are just too fast for me to get a picture, lol or I am just too slow.
Beautiful Photo.

Susan, how great you got your signiture block cut out. Good luck with the new sewing machine, How fun, just love playing with new toys.
bummer about the church Dinner.

B E T T Y, so glad to see you post. Beautiful message and so very true.
Missing you terribly.

Crissy, Wow, sounds like you had a fanastic weekend! I am so glad you and Dave got to spend it together and found some cool things to do. So how is the bird house coming along? I hope you got it going pretty well.

My weekend was awsom. We took off right after Jakes game on Saturday. Bummer they lost but played a very good game, made 2 TDs and that really lifted their spirits...
Arrived at the cottage where our Cousin had met with us. She brought her friend again and we had a real nice visit.
It was incredible that Julia and Anthony were able to join us too, they thought they had to work...It is the last time for a while we will be all together, And family visitng and fun was just great. Games were played in the front yard, frisbee and football tossing.
In the dark of the night, we had a great bonfire. The best was Pauline, Joyce and heather got to see the Eagle!! Flew right past the deck.
Then Sunday, another criend couple visited, So we boated and again they got to see the eagle. Was their first time at the cottage and they like everyone else, just got lost in the beauty, watched the Eagles, We saw 2 yesterday...One just cannot help but enjoy Natures beauty...Very restful.
Yesterday I awoke with a nasty headcold, was freezing all day, so when we got home I went directly to bed, funny though couldn't fall asleep, So watched a movie. It was Carol's B-day and I didn't celebrate it as usual, but We did play a game of Scrabble on the way home, so that was cool.

So today is a day of catchup and unpacking, I took a bunch of craft items but never worked on them, so I am hoping to get to that today.

So i hope you are all having a great day so far.
See you in a bit.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

well, sorry to be a downer, but I learned a lesson. Sometimes, when relatives help, they can cause you more trouble than a used-car salesman.
My husband and I have had several setbacks (latest is loss of my job at the library) and health issues. We desperately needed a car but with no options. Then my in-laws got a loan paid off by their daughter with an Olds 88. He did some work to it and was going to sell it on a used-car lot. But when they thought of us, they offered it for less money and pay them monthly as we can.
Trouble is, it has other problems. That's something we trying to avoid because we got rid of an older car that we just couldn't maintain anymore. Now we have to replace the battery and the transmission is leaking fuel like crazy. It is hard to turn down a great offer, but we should have checked out the car more thoroughly. I guess we had the attitude, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." But payments and a lot of repairs is not what we needed.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ooooooooh how miserable that your "new-to-you" car is such a bummer, and eats up $$ you really Don't have....Better isn't toooo bad, but the transmission! yikes, and double yikes!! Doesn't sound like he did enuff work on it...... Woud they lower the price of the car, seeing as how it is such a $$ guzzler right off the bat? Two payments sounds about right to me, regardless of the cost....

Tubby - prayers & thoughts for you, hon. Weakness is very dibilitating.......

Seedtosser (Judy?) - thanks for the encouragement re: sewing/quilting - I fianlly have it down pat, so am doing well actually. Now, to keep on quilting, so I get to improve lol

Love to everyone!

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Everyone!!!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BARB!! Hope your day was glorious!

Had a great weekend, got a ton of stuff done and went to Memphis yesterday and had a blast there too

Working working working working so glad we had a long weekend, I really need it.

Terry praying for you and Shirley daily also, you two are always in my thoughts.

Catch ya'll later!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - good that you got a lot done this w/e!

I did too, sorta lol - got some time in here (at DG and FarmTown AND FarmVille lol), even got some housework & laundry done, sewed 2 quilt squares, and setup our "new to us" 10-person tent in our friend's yard. Wow is it BIG - my DH @ 6'3" is able to stand up in it, no problem lol
I think we can get rid of the 2-tent idea where we had a seperate tent just for equipment and food. Now we can put everything in one, with No Problem lol
Took us an hour to do a dry-run on it, so next time it'll be quicker - good thing there were instructions on the bag!

Important..ReadThis

Because of recent abductions in daylight hours, refresh yourself
of these things to do in an emergency situation...

This is for you, and for you to share
with your wife, your children, everyone you know.

After reading these 9 crucial tips,
forward them to someone you care about.

It never hurts to be careful
in this crazy world we live in.

1.. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :

The elbow is the strongest point on your body..
If you are close enough to use it, do!

2.. Learned this from a tourist guide.

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.
Toss it away from you....
Chances are that he is more interested
in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the
wallet/purse.

RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,
kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole
and start waving like crazy...
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars
after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit
(doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc.)

DON'T DO THIS!

The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity
for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,
and tell you where to go.

AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR,
LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE...

If someone is in the car
with a gun to your head

DO NOT DRIVE OFF,
Repeat:
DO NOT DRIVE OFF!

INSTEAD gun the engine, and speed into anything, wrecking the car.
Your Air Bag will save you.

If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it!

As soon as the car crashes bail out and run.

It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot,
or parking garage:

A.) Be aware:

Look around you,
look into your car,
at the passenger side floor,
and in the back seat

B.) If you are parked next to a big van,
enter your car from the passenger door.
Most serial killers attack their victims
by pulling them into their vans while the women
are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car
parked on the driver's side of your vehicle,
and the passenger side.... If a male is sitting alone
in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back
into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you back out..
I
T IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than
dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator
instead of the stairs.
Stairwells are horrible places to be alone
and the perfect crime spot.
This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control,

ALWAYS RUN!

The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and
even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.
RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying
to be sympathetic:

STOP

It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking,
well educated man, who ALWAYS played
on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often
asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle,
which is when he abducted
his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point:

Someone just told me that her friend heard
a crying baby on her porch the night before last,
and she called the police because it was late
and she thought it was weird.. The police told her
'Whatever you do, DO NOT
open the door..'

The lady then said that it sounded like the baby
had crawled near a window, and she was worried
that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,
whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'

He told her that they think a serial killer
has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax
women out of their homes thinking that someone
dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it,
but have had several calls by women saying that
they hear baby's cries outside their doors
when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam!

If you wake up in the middle
of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is
a burst
pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your
outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and
then attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbours!
Please pass this on
This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because
the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on
America 's Most Wanted when they profiled
the serial killer in Louisiana
I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know.
It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle..

I was going to send this to the ladies only,
but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc.,
you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Send this to any woman you know that may need
to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it
and it's better to be safe than sorry..
Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or
love one's life

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omgoodness!
some of these I knew, but some are new to me......
Thank you so much, tubby!!
you're right - not just women should receive this, but men too!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you Tubby. How are you feeling today. The weather here is starting to change to our "Fall" mode. The trees are starting to get litttle splashes of red and yellow and orange. I love the color but don't like what it means. I'm an autumn person but sure don't care for winter.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I guess it's time now to settle down and make choices about cooler activities. Me? - I just keep on sewin'---- How about you?

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

barb, as soon as i dig it out started a halloween quilt two years ago lol
cut one panel to short and im not sure how to fix it.
will show you maby you could advise how i could fix it.

crissy, glad to hear you had a nice weekend, how is work i'll trade you mrs cheerful for our two drama queens, there giving the new girl greif she is wonderful fast learner she is on to them lol, oh btw...... tapping fingers, today is the halloween day!!!!! :)

judy, lol no i have to go talk to the painter to see if he is finished, i'll put them up only problem is peak at garage has no gutter i'll probably use push pins and hear someone crying about new holes in the paint job lol
hope you feel better, how cool to see all the eagles

betty, hope your doing good miss you not posting, what fall projects are you working on
how are all the kids and fury babys.

tubby, hope your getting better, i saw some of those thanks for the info

hi, mary, trisha, laura, susan,lk and everyone else
have a wonderful day

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Liz, send me some pictures here or dmail and I'll try to help. Everything with quilting has a way to be great no matter what mistakes we make. We can find a way to make it right.
Can't wait to see pictures. Halloween here is very quiet. Our street doesn't have many children and the scool and downtown businesses do big things for the kids. When you live in a very rural area with no sidewalks or streetlights and pitch black by 5 pm you don't want the kids out walking. As a driver I'd be so afraid of not seeing them.
I'm busy changing furniture around today. I like the way it makes the room seem new again. Must get busy dusting - yuk....
talk later.
