Quoting:
Got a little better shot of the Pinon Jay last night. He came in about the same time, but got a little closer.

Ooops! Even though it is sat in a pinyon, that one is actually a Western Scrub Jay - note the pinky-grey back and belly. Pinyon Jay is blue all over, and also has a shorter tail.

Norman, OK

Good eye, Resin. We've seen Stellar's, Scrubs and Pinyons here. The Pinyon is more of a single blue color.

A Gray-headed Junco from the Davey Audubon Sanctuary.

Nice one red!!!!

Don't forget Bird Files for that one.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Distinctive looking junco!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I agree! Nice to see birds from other regions.

Meanwhile… look who stopped by for a bath.

A bit blurry, but I thought this shot was funny.

At one point it tried to swim on the water or something, landing in the middle by the fountain. Weird.

But here it is looking pretty.

Beautiful setting for your birds, Marna!

Lily, glad Lady Bama is keeping you entertained. They sure are pretty birds.
Mrs. Ed, your Jay is a beauty. That's a great one of the colors in the fountain.
Red, that's quite a list of birds. Sounds like that center is perfect for the bird watching. Cute Junco too! Don't you just love the Calliopes? We have a pair that visit every year for just a week or two and they're so small and cute.

This is one of my Scrub Jays.

lith - those are so many cool birds! lucky!

ducbucln - that is SO cool about the quail. No idea, so thanks for sharing!! and lucky you to be witness

A saw a northern flicker on the patio wall, probably eating ants. Then it hit the mother lode and went to town. This was taken through a closed window with a screen, so sorry it isn't that clear.

here's another shot digging down deep with the eyes closed :)

I had this guy visit last night. I think the back of the chair was its favorite spot to watch for bugs. Maybe s/he told the flicker about the free buffet? oh, and an eastern phoebe?

While the gray bird above was around, this little guy showed up. I'm assuming it is a juvenile but I have no clue who it is. Cutie though

Beautiful pics of the Blue Jay at your pond Mrs Ed!

Lady Bama is beautiful Lily!

Duc, I love that first sweet pic of the Scrub Jay along w/ the others!

Evie, Your so lucky to have that Flicker so close!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Duc, I don't know how Eastern Townhee and Ca. Townhee differs, but I only saw Eastern T. here in early summer. I spotted the Northern Flicker here too in late Spring, but very transient a period while they were here, Evie.

Pelle I think Lady 'Bama brought her fledgling out of the nest today. Look!

At one time the two were together (mama and baby), but I wasn't quick enough with the camera then.

That is great Lily!

Red, thanks for the list. Those are my "homies". I'm interested that the Caliope hummingbirds are back. They were around earlier in the summer and then left for awhile. I never saw them before until this year. Peterson's bird book says they should be in California. Wonder why they've been here? A different migration path? Beautiful pictures everybody!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Great photos, everyone.

Some of the local Osprey have already departed. The females usually leave first. The male hangs around to make sure that the offspring are able to fish for themselves. Once certain that the young can take care of themselves, he will depart also.

Although we have lots of Osprey around during the summer, I only photographed them on occasion concentrating mostly on the other birds. In another two months, I will hopefully spend quite a bit of time photographing the Bald Eagles.

Here is a photo displaying several distant poses of the same Osprey.

Wow that is neat Linth!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Linth, your collage is wonderful! Very clever.
Lily, keep watching for mom and baby. It's exciting to see one of those let alone two.
Evie, that's cute with the Flickers. They're here year round and I've never seen them hunt for the bugs. Guess I'll have to watch closer. Cute Phoebe and Gray Bird too!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow. lots of catching up for me. Nice job all!

I took this picture on Sunday for Nanny!

Yep, Eastern Phoebe for the first; I'd say probably juv. Song Sparrow for the second.

Nice ones Mrs Ed and GP!

Feel better soon nanny!

Very nice collage of the Osprey, Linth. Oh Duc, I'm aiming for getting multiple Redheads. Mam, Pa and the offsprings. I don't know how many chicks are there in a brood (?), but I hope to see more of them. Here are the lovie, duffies couple; Lord and Lady 'Bama this morning:

Can anyone help identify a large black bird that makes a call "Uuhhh Uhhhh, Uuhhhh Uhhhh" one was found on the tip of this tree where the Redheaded WPs' nest is. The black bird was seen there yesterday just briefly, I guess this couple has ran it off.

Lily I am envious of your nesting pair! I saw an adult yesterday for the first time this summer and earlier this week a juvenile landed in the dead tree. I am thinking maybe your black bird was a Grackle?

Here's the juvenile Red-headed Woodpecker and a Common Grackle below.

Okay I am jealous...I want a Red-headed!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Rose thank you for sharing a clearer pix of the Redheaded WP Juvie. That helps confirm the one I saw yesterday indeed was one also.

LOL, Nan. Should you have a tree in the garden that's damage by lightnings. Let it be, the woodpeckers like to make nests on deadwoods. :-)

Marlton, NJ

Very nice pics guys! I would love to have one of them.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks guys...I love them too!

What's not to love?

The birds will come back to the feeder several times a day. Once it finds a peanut, it flew back onto the tree. Right here, and pecks on it. First I thought it was packing the peanut in that crevice which I saw a Titmouse stealing something from there yesterday, I do believe. lol, please don't hold me to that one. I saw something, but couldn't be sure.

Today, this is Lord 'Bama. He decided, he was going to eat the peanut right then and there. LOL

Looks like he is hot as well. We had a birch tree fall because of age last yr. so have not seen the piliated woodpecker this yr. It must stay down in the wood; drat.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Lily I would be so thrilled if one would come to our feeders!

Here is a pretty female Goldfinch from this morning.
