It's been so quiet, I can hear a pin drop. Fortunately, some others have been seeing some activity because there is a lot of fine shots on the previous thread. Check them out if you missed them. We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1030955/
All in all, I've had a pretty good summer photographing birds. Each year, I hope to see some tanagers since they seem rather scarce. Last month, I was able to get photos of both the Summer Tanager and the Scarlet Tanager. Here are a few photos of the two species.
First is the male Summer Tanager. They have a difficult time hiding among the green vegetation.

Laynie great heron photo on the last thread!
Linth, you started us off with some awesome photos. That Tanager is so colorful. I have never seen a Vireo so thanks for posting that too.
Meth, love the Chicadee pictures. That little bird sure makes a beautiful photograph.
I'm still playing with my young Scrub Jays which seem to be molting.
Linth, a great beginning for a new thread with your colorful Summer & Scarlet Tanagers! Thank you, for the new thread. Those Vireos and common yellowthroat are darling as well.
Al, your Chicadee is so cute. I love to watch them hanging up side down. They do that just to show off, lol. Love those little ones!
I'm putting up thisle seeds to attract goldfinches. But guess what? No one, and I meant no one paid the thistle any attention.
Duc, so are those scrub Jays adolescents? lol, I said this before, I'd like to say that again. I want some of your Orioles! :-)
Excellent start Linth! Thank you for the beautiful pics!
Great pics everyone!
Lily, the first Scrub Jay is a youngster, but the second on looks a little older with the blue head. Good luck with that thistle seed! I finally gave up buying it when the price went up so high I was spending more on the birds than for my hubbie & me!
Nanny, that a very pretty Red-bellied wp and I've always loved the Nuthatches.
Just wonderful!
That's a great pic nanny!!
Yes, beautiful! Great job! WTG Nan.!
Small birds often nest in the lower floor of big nests like this - it's a safe place to be, with good air cover from predators. No hawk would ever get near them there! The only problem might be any guano dripping down from above . . .
