Beautiful work there! Nice job!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Beautiful quilts and soooo much work and time.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi! Since I have caught a new thread maybe I'll start chiming in every once in a while :)

Love the quilts! My grandmother used to make them, I loved helping her stitch when I was too short to see over her quilting frame so I had to sit on a bunch of pillows.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Jaye, you're an angel. Thank you.
I have the Double Wedding Ring spread over a white spread in the blue guest room.

Oops! better pic. is of foot of bed. I have many very old quilts, but I didn't do the quilting. Granny did some of them and her Mother did some. I have them everywhere I can put them on beds, and still have quilts that I need to get rid of so they will not dry rot.

OMG!! I gotta have one of those! how much? is it an auction? ebay? Oh goodness, they remind me of my great aunt effie the wonderous quilt top queen and my grandma.. they made quilts for the homeless for 20 years, mine are all tattered and put away.. my college girl wants me to go to Yoder and buy her one, theirs sell for anywhere from 350.00 to 1200.00 .. I lucked out a couple years ago at a country bazaar way out west in Cheney and got 4 hand made quilts for my oldest four children.. 250.00 for four of them..my youngest college girl feels slighted.. the Trip around the world would be what I would want for sure!
( the quilt and the real trip even)
Jean Pasko still about too.. she is driving me mad@!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I'd like to know the price too? I have been looking at them, and keep telling myself, I don't need another quilt, but I don't have any quilts. All I have are comforters.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Jean Pasko has bloomed..

Excited to see Jean, cause I still have buds! LOL Mine is not very big and can't wait. Please keep posting if you have time. Does it smell?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for posting Debra. Mine just have buds.
Yes, JP do have a beautiful scent too.
Never met a brug I don't like or can't smell!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, she is beautiful! Please tell us what she smells like?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Gorgeous Debra!! I wish mine would at least bud, I'm going to take more pictures hopefully this evening. That's the plan anyway.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Something is out there eating holes in all the leaves of my plants. Poor little brugs don't look happy. I think they all need some spray again.

Heat has really come out way, so I'm not going outside unless absolutely necessary. Thought maybe we wouldn't get higher that the 80's but my temp. gauge says over 100 in the sun.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

All my brugs are tortured this year Pegi.
I had to break down and use the 'tuff' one.. can't fight grasshoppers with eco friendly stuffs :(

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My brugs all have holes in the leaves too, I spray to no avail, and I'm using Ortho in the pump up container too.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I think we do have a big problem. Everything is suffering from this heat do, just wish we could have a little rain now and then.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My Serendipity is on its' 3rd flush!!!

But here's a blue beauty for your eyes.

That is so pretty! Thanks for sharing.
yep, grasshoppers are eating mine too, no matter what I spray! Finally got rid of the mealy bugs! Yuck, those things are nasty!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Couldn't understand why there were no lilac blossoms on my old Crepe Myrtle... till we found mealy bugs. Drenched the whole tree for 2 days in a row. Now it's 'smiling' again.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I hear San Antionio is in the grips of over 100 for 57 days.

So far the bugs have all drowned I think....not too much problem here. Winds and storms have shredded lots of leaves on the brugs. Frog strangling rains here again last night. Lighting thunder, on and on and on. Cloudy constently and temps probably won't get above 80. Must of got another 4 inches. My plants are drowning. Which we could share the weather.....LOL My pots are full of standing water again, instead of watering I am tipping. The country seems to have the weather divided and not moving around for each of us. If we get this much moisture in the winter I will be buried!

Checked and still have buds! Have buds on Charles Gar....

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I think we are getting some of that Texas heat, and they said no break in sight. Everything is suffering including myself. Don't think DH will get his lawn mowed today unless he gets out there in the evening. I think pine needles are dropping faster than ever too, that tree should be bald by now.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pegi, maybe that's why my La. cypress this year's infested for the first time. The unusual long triple digit days.
If what Happgarden says is happening your part of the world, LK... Stock up on bagged ice!! You might have to sleep on them ;)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thats what the Air condition is for. It runs non stop!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

With the high temps. along come the fires. So dry and then a few winds doesn't help much. DH watches the news then reports what is going on to me.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

hi guys, sorry I havn't been here.. she smells like sweet lemony powder.. I love it.. the bugs are eating them up, I can't stand the thought of leaving them while I am gone for a whole week in september..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, I got one of your seed packages earlier this year, and it as so nice! I may get another one for next year. Hopefully it won't be soooo HOT next year!
LK

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, hope I am on your seed list for the ru. I want to try winter sowing and indoor sowing this year. I am going to setup a growing plant light station for my Mom this year. We are getting rid of her big sleeping bed (not flower bed...LOL)and putting in a single so she can have more plants.....wonder where my addictions come from.....LOL That bloom is so pretty. By the time I go to my MG convention in Sept I am going to have everything inside I don't trust the weather around here. Left one time the first part of Oct and it frosted just enough to get a bunch of my tropicals.

Pegi, the fires would be sooo scary. Have you ever been "close" to them. I remember reading on DG probably when I first got on about someone and smoke and the such and brugs being scorched.

LindaKay, I feel for you in those hot dry temps. Much rather have my craZy wet cool temps (as long as things don't start rotting. Air bills have been low. I am solar powered and I need some sun shine....LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh my Debra! I don't remember what all you have, but I'll take one of each! :)

I opened a Halloweed Swap Thread for those interested:

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow, Debra.. you're so generous.
Thanks for the offer, but I am so baaaaaaaaad at germinating!!!

Have a wonderful weekend ladies.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

40's TONIGHT, it is still august I thought, dang, moving everything toward the garden room, dang.....
buds on brugs....still waiting.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

The heat is here and doesn't make me very happy. Has been in the high 90's for several days and just how can you do anything in this kind of weather!!! Am so looking forward to our winter months, if and when they ever come.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

We just can't be happy about the weather....LOL Either too cold or too hot.....You probably don't get 0 and below degrees where you live. I could make it fine if we didn't get below freezing....might me all in my mind but anything below freezing I don't even want to leave the house for any reason...

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We seldom get below 40 here during the winter, can't complain about the weather then. I come from Minnesota so I do remember all the times I stood in freezing weather waiting to take a bus home from work. Don't miss that part at all.

Fires popping up all over and it gets scary. Just hope our communications systems don't go down as there is a fire up on Mt. Wilson where all the stations are.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Pegi, I have been listening to the reports on NPR about the fires. How horrible and those poor firefighters going over the edge of the mountain. Then heard the guys who tried to make it in their hot tub, I can understand people not wanting to leave their homes but so many people are put at risk trying to rescue them. So very sad. Hope you are far away?

Here is my part of my forest of brugs, look real close and you can see okra growing....LOL The yellow leaves I am sure come from too much rain and no sun. This is before I watered with bayer, as of last night they were still alive.....which is a good thing.

Here is the other forest of brugs next to the waterfall of clematis, can't stand the smell of the clematis but it sure is pretty.

Bet you can't wait for blooms!

Happy Birthday Kim the Exotic!!
Wishing you beautiful brugs and lovely scent to fill the air!! And of course lots of pressies!
