Stop and visit, ... #33

Yay!! I usually have a good day on Friday 13th, it's Saturday the 14th I have to watch out for. Yes, I'm backwards.

(Zone 7a)

Did she come out yet?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh yea. She's feeding off of my bad mood, I'm just saying the sh word under my breath and she said, "You sure are saying that word a lot today. I don't like that." Who cares!

(Zone 7a)

LOL I'm sorry her life is so hard. I really think the poor woman needs a life for Xmas. I sincerely feel bad for her.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I do too to a point, then she starts antagonizing me, or worse yet yelling at me and that just makes me mad. I know what has caused her to have such a rough life and they're not just unfortunate situations, but a lot of their problems have been life decisions, and we make our beds. She hides behind the religion and church too.

Crissy, I'm not talking about the Iron Chef people. Heck, the way they move, I can't keep up with what they're using because of how fast they're moving! Because of that, I don't really know the brands or whatever they're using. I figure Emeril is using Emeril stuff, Rachael Ray is using Rachael Ray stuff, etc. etc....lol

Celia, is your stove the ceramic top or a glass top? My parents have a glass top, made by Jenn-air. It heats fast, like gas does, and it cools right now. I like it, but growing up with gas and used to gas, I really do prefer gas. I'm not sure why my mom wanted electric. The glass, I will tell you, breaks very easily. I can't remember what my dad was doing, but he needed to rest one of his cheeks (if you get my meaning...lol) on the edge of the glass top and snap!! Just like that. Since it was my dads fault, they had to pay for a new top. Before this stove, they had the other gas Jenn-air stove. The kind that has grill you can buy to pop into one of the sides. On that stove, it had the vent in the middle. This glass top, I'm not sure where the vent is, but I know it has one. Mom has a 2 ovens, the one with the stove and then a built in one. Above the built in oven is the microwave. So they don't have a vent or microwave or anything over the stove.

I'm sure I've said it on here before, but I'll say it again..lol I LOVE snow!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the stuff!! And I used to drive Krista to school. 60 miles one way. So 120 miles per day, 5 days a week. I've lived in snow all my life (not including the short stint in TN), I basically learned to drive in the snow. So bring it on, I'm ready!!

Rain forecast here also. And like pepper said, the farmers are working like madmen to get their crops in. There was a touching story on the news the other night that I happened to hear. A farmer passed away in Oct. from infections and pneumonia. Of course he had no time to have brought his crops in, so all the men in the towns surrounding came in their combines (9 combines total) and tractors. They brought trailers and grain haulers. These men took time out of that day to help bring in the crops for "one of their own". And also like pep said, we had so much rain this spring, the farmers couldn't get their crops in at the proper time, if they got it in at all. I've also heard of some farmers on their 3rd planting. There are some fields we've seen that are still under water!!

John did a "Terry" today. He was hauling the shop vac down the servants stairs and his foot slipped. Imagine that. Just like I told him! You gotta watch that dern step!!

How does anyone make gravy? Everyone I know, has the drippings in a pan and they add flour and milk (or some add water) and stir it up and they get gravy. When I do it, I get this stuff that tastes like flour. I don't get it. I asked a question a few years ago on the recipe forum about gravy making, and everyone talked about making a roux or however it's spelled. But that was either butter or olive oil and the flour first in the pan, then add in the drippings. I'm confused. How do you know how much flour to add? My dad makes gravy and last year I specifically asked him to show me. Yea, he showed me. You add flour and then milk....huh?? It was the "a little of this, a lot of that" routine. I don't know how I was supposed to follow that. The ONLY time I've made great gravy was with my grandma. She wanted me to make gravy from a roast I'd cooked at her house and so she sat on a stool and helped me. But again, add a little more flour Terry, now a tad more milk....lol....

PEPPER!! I keep forgetting to tell you something. Krista has a boyfriend!! She's had a crush on this kid since she was 6 yrs. old...LOL He went to the same school in Peoria as she did. One day he asked her to marry him, the next day it was another little girl.

boy my eyes are blurry....lol....

Dave text me and said it's looking like his job is safe, Thank the Lord!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Glad Dave's job is safe for the time being crissy!

Terry!!! OMG!!!!!!! I can't believe it!! LOL!!!

Love snow here and I used to drive 12 miles or so over some very bad hills and curves, some that we combined and as long as there isn't ice it wasn't no big deal. That's the main problem for me. Snow isn't hard to drive in. Ice is what you have to watch for.

Gravy is something you basically do by feel and sight. There is no set amount. You fiddle with it til you get it right. Flour sprinkled over hamburger or sausage then add the milk a little at a time til you have what looks like runny gravy. Then just keep stirring til it thickens. Then let it sit with the occasional stir. It's not easy but it's not hard either. Takes lots of experiementing and not every one is good at it.

(Zone 7a)

Here's how I make gravy. Open package, add milk or water. Heat and stir. Voila! Gravy.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL! You cheat!! But there are some really good ones out there. We have a dollar aisle at work and all of our gravys there sell like crazy.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well it deteriorated real fast. They're not laying him off yet, but they laid a bunch of people off both temporary for 60 days and permanently. The ones that are laid off for 60 days come back January 2nd, then Dave and 2 others go on vacation for 4 weeks, then gets laid off. Of course things can change and none of that may happen. I'm so darn mad about it, glad he knows what might perspire, but I'm tired of living on pins and needles financially not knowing what's going to happen. We can't live on my salary alone.

Gravies are difficult to make, Dave's getting the hang of it but I'm not, and I used to watch and help my grandmother make perfect gravy daily. Guess I was too young to remember it.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!! I don't feel very green right now anyway, feel kinda brown and crumpled.

I know it takes practice to make gravy...only problem with that is I only make gravy when I'm making a turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas anymore. My mom has this tupperware thing, you put milk and flour into it, shake it up, then pour into your juices. I know with grandma, she had me add flour into the cooker pan (it was one of those slow cookers, not to be confused with a crockpot), the flour didn't lump up for some unknown reason and then I added milk. Then she told me I needed more flour, still no lumps...I'm telling you, the drippings were hot too. I don't get it. I honestly don't mind the package gravy, I don't even mind the jar gravy, but for Thanksgiving and a whole turkey? Well, I'd really like some good gravy and not have to tell everyone my gravy tastes like flour, so it'll be a few more minutes while I mix up a package gravy. I just watched another of the food networks Thanksgiving shows and a lady made gravy. Mixing a couple tlbs of butter and some flour. They all seem to use butter when making gravy and I know my family doesn't. sigh

I have this boy over here and I swear he doesn't go home!! My mom told me this morning and I quote "it's nice that she has a friend" end quote. Friend? Who rolls on the rug upstairs with their "friend" kissing? Give me a break mommy dearest. If only she'd have been so understanding with my "friends"....LOL She asked her daddy and me how, or do you even, tell the boy he's not a good kisser??!! oh me oh my....I know I must sound like a horrible mom, please understand the situation with my baby.

Crissy, man is that rough. Here's hoping for the best! What business is he in?

Celia, we need a new thread! This is getting loooooooooooooooooong............

He works for Hawker Beechcraft Private Jet company. They're in competition with Leer Jet, Falcon Jet, I think Cessna if they build private jets, Boeing, and I'm sure there are others. He told me today that his last day will be January 8th and there is a large group of people going out with him. His boss said that he will be called back when they start rehiring sometime in 2011, so he says he's going to draw unemployment for a little while and look for a job, but his benefits continue for a certain amount of time and he'll be able to draw a lot on the unemployment, and I can't tell him what to do so I'm going to just keep doing what I do and get an ulcer LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

yes, Cessna builds private planes. Not necessarily jets that I know of, but private planes flown by private pilots. 2, 4, 6 seaters (are what I know). My dad had a Beechcraft, now he has a Cessna. I was trying to remember the names of his planes. I know he had a Beechcraft Baron, but I can't remember the other one. Oh, a Bonanza. 1 was a 4 seater, then he went up to a 6 seater, now he's downed it again and gone with the 4 seater (Cessna). I don't know why. He likes new? You know they aren't new after 4-6 yrs. Same as a car. Heaven forbid a car of his (or my moms) gets anywhere near 75,000 miles. It's more like 40 to 50,000 and they're trading in. Nope, can't tell him what to do and it does you no good to worry. I know it's easier said than done, but worrying won't change anything. 'Cept give you that ulcer...lol

pepper, that little umm..errr...well....weasel, broke Krista's heart yesterday. He felt it necessary first to tell her that a buddy of his was going to out him in a relationship class the 2 of the boys are in. What that actually means is beyond me. Then he tells her that he's also interested in maybe getting back with an old girlfriend. When pressed about it, it comes out that there's 2 old girlfriends. But Krista lives closer to him, so he really wants to get back with her. *update* Krista just came down and said she talked (internet talking) and that he really wants her back. He's really really sorry.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I know Cessna builds private planes, but are they all props or do they have jets also? If they don't build private jets they're not Beechcraft's competition. At that specific plant here in Little Rock they build Beech 987 and Beech 4000 planes.

Your dad needs to buy some of these jets so Dave can keep his job LOL

Who can get the hottest girl is what that means. How old is this boy? I have a plan...

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I don't know what your first sentence means...the props or do they have jets parts. All I know about the planes my dad has had, are they're for private pilots...first one was single prop 4 seater, next was double prop 6 seater, now he has a single prop 4 seater. I haven't been in the latest one. I probably, at one time, knew what the number of the plane was...seems like it's somewhere either on it or inside it. I don't mean the tail numbers either...whatever you call those. When my dad starts talking about his planes, he gets really technical and he's way over my head. Not sure why he's not seeing the glassy look in my eye...LOL

I've told him to buy a jet. I want a bathroom. Do you know how hard it is to go 2+ hours and not have a bathroom?? Especially when you're worried and just know you're going to need it...LOL I HATE that!!

If you mean how old is this boy Krista has had a crush on forever, he's 26, same as her. And the boy that was going to tell on them, he's the same. Chronologically they're all 26. That boy couldn't get a girl if his life depended on it. He's a control jerk that doesn't like his buddy spending time with a girl. And this other boy had asked Krista out on a date yrs ago. Probably about 6-7 yrs ago, we made it a double date. I didn't know him, but Krista did. He walked into the restaurant and I had no clue who he was and he said nothing. He looked like the picture she'd shown me in her yearbook, so I asked her if that him. She said yes. They sat at a different table, other side of the restaurant. John and I kept sneak peeks over there, he wasn't saying anything, she wasn't saying anything. We'd been there all of 5 minutes and he walks to our table and says he has to go home and help his mom with a garage sale they were having the next day. That's a huh? He turned and walked out just as our waitress was walking back in. Flabbergasted doesn't even begin to describe her reaction. She helped Krista over to our table and threw away that kids drink. He left no money on the table. She never heard from him until about 2 yrs. later and I flat out lied to him. I can't stand lying, but I didn't want him bugging her...that's what he does. He calls and he calls...he started that again the other day. The other day he called and I didn't answer. He didn't leave a message. In 15 minutes he called again. That time I answered. He asked for Krista, and I told him she was upstairs, talking to Nathan. He tells me he wants to talk to her about facebook. I told him to talk to the kid Krista likes. Then the guy she likes told him not to call her anymore. Probably adding more fuel to the fire. I doubt it. I would say that guys cognitive level is below Krista's and the guy she likes is a tad bit higher, but not by much. I don't know. I only know Krista gets really emotional and makes rash decisions, then changes her mind, and on and on it'll go.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Crissy, I wanna hear your plan. lol

Terry, having a bathroom in a plane would be great! LOL. Course I don't fly so I don't have to worry about it. lol
