We used to listen to the Wolfman!!! I was very sad when he died.
Stop and visit, ... #33
I missed it by a few years, but I do vaguely remember an oldies station just outside of Modesto that tuned him in on Saturday nights, that was in the mid to late 1970's and I was probably about 5 to 8 years old. I just looked him up on Wikipedia.org and how sad! I wonder if got to hug his wife before he died?
Crissy, for some reason, it says Tony Scott is a week-end guy. But when you click on his name, it says he's there from 3-7. I'm guessing that's supposed to Pacific time, but it's the time I listen to him here. Since it's not 3pm yet, I don't know if it's him. What I forgot to say, is that all the people are either from the same radio station far far away, or from various radio stations. Either which way, the whole darn station has gone syndicated. Now we have Bob & Tom in the morning and Alice Cooper at nights. I miss local DJ's.
I'm up here, in the middle of the USA. We're not falling any where!!! i hope i hope i hope...LOL
When we lived in TN, we were over 600 miles from home, even farther from Chicago. John would turn on WGN (talk radio), in the morning driving to work. He was driving in to work about 4am. One night, I had them on and the next morning when I got up, I didn't even think about it and I turned on the radio in our bathroom. It was commercials, but then on came Max Armstrong to do the farm and financial report for the day. I was surprised, didn't know they had him on anywhere down there. So huh. But then all of a sudden, I hear Spike O'Dell talking. Now I know something's up! I forgot I had turned on WGN the night before and hadn't turned it back. But there they were, loud and clear. I ran to the computer and emailed Spike, telling him I was listening to him, way down in Soddy Daisy, TN. It wasn't but a minute and my computer made the noise you've got mail and it was Spike! Telling me to hang a minute, he was going to say hi to me! Oh good grief....lol...I was so excited. He didn't just say hi, he had the news guy (who's name escapes me right at the moment) right there with him. He was telling, oh! Dave is his name, he was telling, reading my email to him and on air, so the listeners. It was hilarious listening to him use his own creative interpretation on my email...lol Man did they make fun of the name of the town, Soddy Daisy. I don't know if you still can, but I know you used to be able to listen to WLS, another AM Chicago radio station down there in AR. I went with friends one night down to Little Rock and we got it down there too. That was a long time ago though, and while WLS is still on, they're talk now too.
pepper! I remember now. You know I want milkweed. Badly! For some reason all that I planted went away. Don't know why, but it did. When I told John what all I was planting, he about fainted when I said milkweed. He's a farm boy and he had to walk the field every year, pulling up the dang milkweed. And I want to plant it?? On purpose?? He thought I'd gone crazy...lol On Sat., we went to a little itty town to a family owned market over there. I wanted broom corn and a pumpkin and whatever other fresh veggie I could find. I drove. First time in forever!! I know all these neat back ways to get anywhere, so I took this really back out of the way road. Not a highway, but the county roads farmers drive on. Twisty curvy roads. I was on a mission though. Find milkweed!! First we came across some that were green pods and I wasn't sure if that would be right, but I stopped anyway and snagged them. Kept on driving and came to the edge of a guys field and OMG!!! The milkweed pod had burst!! Tons of seeds just hanging there! Only problem we had..lol...was that I had forgot to grab anything to put my precious seeds in to!! We were in our truck and we have one of those garbage bags you hang from a knob somewhere in the car. Like if the lighter is up high enough (my car doesn't have the lighter high enough, so no where to hang the garbage bag). We had pods in one bag and the fluff seed heads in a candy bag. At Boggio's they had the plastic bags you grab for apples or mini pumpkins, so I grabbed a couple of them.
I forgot something and I can't believe how long that post took me..lol I didn't sit here, typing the whole time. I had a few things to do.
I don't know if anyone told you how to do the quote.
[ quote ] then what ever you want in there then at the end, [ / quote ]
you don't have the spaces in there though....except thru the original body of the text. I'll show it using { instead of [
{quote}How do you make that blue box with the quote in the middle?{/quote}

How do you make that blue box with the quote in the middle?
I want to know how to make the yellow smiley faces?
The smileys are... hold the shift key. type 6-6. It will look like this. ^_^ but when it posts it will show this ^_^

^_^_^_^_^_^_^
Yea!!!
boy, that's not easy. Mine looks really messy.
o.k. finally found the radio station I listen to. Tony Scott is on listed on here too.
http://www.wbzg.net/pages/3142700.php
Unfortunately it won't let me listen. I know he's on now. I have the one, 95.5 KLOS, from CA on, but so far, I'm not hearing Tony. I tell you, to hear him, then see him? No way!!! I'm in shock. He sounds older, his voice is husky and he just doesn't fit the "look" I had of him in my head.
I don't know what I did wrong! ^_^ Is that one right?
FINALLY!!! YEA!!!
Yea!!! LOL
LOL!! Terry, glad you got some milkweed seeds!!!
"[ quote ] then what ever you want in there then at the end, [ / quote ] /"
That didn't work...
then what ever you want in there then at the end
Yay!!!
My mom's surgery is today.... I think it was at 8am.
You did it Crissy!!
Nice looking horse pep...I feel a sneeze coming on, and my eyes, I can't quite see what I'm writing.....lol....
Have a question of the serious nature. My dad has/had bladder cancer, right? He had the biopsy again (or whatever it is they do) and he told it was clean. But I just got an email from him stating that he's got another round of treatments coming up starting in Nov. I'm confused.
I've also been meaning to ask if anyone else's weather has been significantly lower in temps than normal? And rainy! good golly miss molly has it been rainy! The last 3 days haven't been too bad, with yesterday actually making it to 71. For the most part though, we've struggled to stay in the 50's and have already had a hard freeze. John's work usually gives flu shots to all family members, not just the employees. This year however, late I might add, they announced the shots were for employees only. They did say the insurance would pay though. How? Ours are done at a clinic. If you have medicare or medicaid, that's paid for. But regular insurance? Don't think so. And if you go to the doctor for the shot, even if you only see the nurse for the shot, you still have to pay the co-pay. We'd save 5 bucks? Anyway, another mile to get to the end, we had to go to another little town to our south. So many fields with full crops of corn or beans in them. I sure hope they're able to get most of it out before the snow falls. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen a farmer combine in the snow, but with this much still left in the field? It's too wet. I don't mean just the soil either. The corn and beans have to be dry in order to combine. You can get them out with a little moisture left in, but not this much. I'm saying dry out not because of the rain, but because it's been so cool. The crops were so late getting in.....I wouldn't want to be a farmer relying on crops.
It has been super wet here this year and much cooler than normal too. Corn is just starting to be harvested but they had to quit yesterday because it started raining again and it just quit early tonight. I can't remember if soybeans have been done yet.
If his test came out clean he shouldn't have to undergo another round of treatment again.
Terry I have no idea about the cancer, but I can tell you for the past two months here it has been 20 degrees below normal and we are 200% above average on rainfall, we're floating away in this cold rainy crap. The Sierra Nevada Mountains in CA/NV is already getting snow which usually doesn't happen until the beginning of December.
It's been too cold and rainy for our crops to ripen, the news said the other day that 80% of AR soybean crops aren't any good, and a lot of the cotton and corn crops aren't either. The rice fields can't ripen without sun and they're molding. It's bad everywhere and the cost for veggies is going to go sky high this next summer.
My work insurance always pays for my flu shots. We go, hand our insurance card to the gal who takes them, she puts it in the computer, we get our shot and leave. They're going to pay for the H1N1 too, but I'm not going to get either one this year.
pepper, our weather here hasn't been normal at all this whole supposed summer. When we were hunting for the milkweed? It was patchy at best in describing the fall colors. Then this cold, wet, really windy stuff came upon us. The trees are, for the most part, naked! Unbelievable. We're not going to get any significant colors this year.
Crissy, I hear you on the rainy and cold and crops going to pot. IF a farmer can get into his fields and IF he can get most of his crop out and IF he has dryers in his grain bins, he can dry SOME of his crop. It's an expensive thing to do though and most won't or can't, do it. My dad already yelled at me, so please don't feel the need to, but I really don't like watching the news. We have TiVo's on all our t.v.'s and I'm usually 15-20 or more, behind. So I skip right on thru the important things to watch only the weather. I only know what I do know because John's brother owns the land they all farmed. He got out a few years back though and rents the land to a farmer buddy of both theirs. I hear it from them and I also hear from my brother, whose best friend is a farmer.
Speaking of cost of crops going up, I just thought of something. How many feed the birds? I don't, just my squirrel buddies. But still. You have grain in your birdseed or at least sunflowers. I feed peanuts to my buddies. When we lived in TN, I went looking for a big bag of peanuts. All the local WBU had was a 5#, and I was looking for something more along the lines of 50#. I stopped at a feed store to inquire and good gosh. You'd have thought I'd grown another head! The man kept telling me it wasn't the season yet and I kept asking him what that had to do with anything. LOL...it was funny, but I didn't get my peanuts. He said they got theirs from Georgia.
I don't want to ask my dad about the treatment again. I did ask him when I replied to the email he'd sent telling me. So, I'm still stumped.
Oh hey Crissy, I've made 2 meals in my new cast iron dutch kettle. Man I love that thing! It cooks fantastic!!
Cool Terry! I just have to say that your hand/wrist must be better, glad to see it! Dave put our cast iron dutch kettle out to pasture, it's gone. Oh well I never used it anyway.
I don't really watch the news either, just the weather. I do watch the weather channel a lot :)
Man I'm dieting and this is difficult. I already ate dinner and I am starving and want a PB&J and Frosted Flakes, not going to eat either! Green Giant has these "40 calorie 0 Weight Watcher Points" broccoli and cheese and cauliflower and cheese tubs, YUM but you can look at the cheese and see that it's non-fat. I just had one, figured that's better than my alternative above!
I told Dave this has to be his final answer on this, but we're going to Florida for our Spring vacation. Going to Universal Studios in Orlando and renting a condo on the beach in Daytona Beach. I found one I really really like and am waiting on the price... may be too high, then again maybe I won't care!
Never been to Florida. That's one of those 'someday' places. I have to get to Ireland first! LOL
I've never been to Florida either. I want to take him to East Tennessee but he won't go, doesn't understand and won't listen that there's tons of stuff to do! Oh Well.
Whew it has been crazy around here!! Major shopping Friday night, went back to that store again Sat to get more of the stuff that was on sale plus rugs were half off. Hit a few other stores, got home late afternoon, home about 30 min if even that and had to leave for a friend's birthday bonfire.
Yesterday I woke up and it felt like I had an eyelash in my right eye. Never found it and my eye hurt all day. It got better at one point so I went to help a friend who is renting an old house and is doing some reno before moving in. The driving made my eye worse so I couldn't help out. Today it still hurts and had to miss work because this morning it wasn't any different than last night. Plus we had my nephew all day yesterday and he refused to take a nap. So had to deal with him too. lol. Finally late this morning my eye started feeling better and has improved all day.
Good grief, do you have a virus in your eye? I think I would go to the eye doctor, vision is not something to play around with.
It's just a scratch. I've had it happen before just not like this. I usually do something and know it. This time I did something and didn't know it. If if hadn't improved today I would have been to the doctor but I gave it time to heal and for the swelling to go down. It's almost normal now. I stayed inside out of the sun and wind except to check mail. When I went out the sun kinda hurt a little which is common when you have a scratch on your eye.
Ah, ok, but next time... LOL
We need to vote for this gal once a day every day until Nov 1st:
http://www.qdobaqmmunity.com/Nominee/id/161/Jessica_Rothgerber_Murr
Is she someone you know?
No but it has to do with funds for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
I voted for you! Meaning I did it because you asked.
Thank you Celia! I'm all about cancer research and all, especially one that is so deadly. Are you feeling better?
Sort of. I feel congested still but I'm not coughing nearly as long or hard. The anitibios are kicking it's rear!!! LOL
I just noticed I didn't mention on here that I have bronchitis. 2 weeks and counting...
Sorry about your eye, Pep. I get popped vessels. That's painful, too.
Good! Kick it Kick it!!
I used to get sty's a lot, but haven't had one of those in years, as I'm knocking on this wood computer desk.
LOL I just noticed what time it is!
OMY! I knocked on the desk and Tiga thought it was someone at the door! She jumped up and she's got bed head!
See ya'll tomorrow!
Crissy, I can't lift the pot to put in or out, of the oven. I can slide it over (it sits on the stove top because I have no room for it!) and sear the meat or start with sauteing the onion. The lid isn't that heavy, so I can handle it. What's OMY?
Celia, my mom has pneumonia. Lots of bad stuff going round. We've got a bunch of confirmed H1N1 cases here in Bureau County. From what I understand though, we don't have the vaccine. Not for regular folks, but the health care and I think teachers got them already too.
I went off the Gabapentine too fast. I have enough not to go off fast and I was down to 1 a day 3 x's a day, but I kept forgetting. So finally I said to heck with it. Now I feel really cruddy. I just couldn't believe how long and drawn out it was to get off the dumb drug. I got sick last time because I went off cold turkey. So this time I called the nurse and she gave me instructions how to do it. Oh well. A couple more days and I should feel better. TMI, but I've felt like heaving all day.
pep, do sty's run in families? My dad gets them and so do I. I hate them. Another thing I get and I have no clue what it is, but a bump on my eye ball. It feels like I've got an eyelash or a dog hair in there, but upon inspection in a mirror, it's a bump. A white bump. It's on the white of the eye, but it's a whiter white if that makes sense.
O.k. I have to go. My stomach is churning way to much....:-(
Nope, no eye problems run in the family except needing glasses. I just occasionally get something in my eye because of stupidity or something else and scratch it pretty good.
Oh, I think crissy meant OMG and hit the wrong button. lol
LOL "O MY" without the space. I wanted to say OMY! Ya'll crack me up! Yuk, stomach churning isn't good. That's weird about your eye thing Terry.
My eyes have always gooped a lot, especially with contacts, but that's alright, like the contacts too much to not wear them.
I've been trying to come up with new meanings for OMY. Still working on it. lol
Crissy, you getting any of that rain tha is hitting me yet?
It's drizzling all day, about 75F and in a tornado watch...
