Pretty pics Willow! Your froggie looks like he is trying to disguise himself as a snapdragon blossom!
Bea, I have really missed being able to enjoy your pics at a leisurely pace! Love the honeysuckle photo, as well as your little froggie....yours doesn't look quite as innocent as Willow's though...his little face looks like he is plotting something! How glorious it would be to have such a lovely garden so close!
Garden Pics: Late Summer Beauties!
Kathy, I totally get the "sleep for a week" thing....that's how I feel right now! I have the day off today, and there is absolutely nothing that I HAVE to do. It feels kind of weird..
You guys are welcome anytime. I honestly would like to wait to go back to Mt Tahoma until I get my crevice bed built, which I think I have found the perfect place for. I am just dying to go back in May when he says everything is in bloom...I think that that will be a "must see". Will probably scope out the rock thing in person within the next couple of weeks, as when I get an idea in my head, I can't rest comfortably until I make it a reality! Will let you all know what I find!
He must of ate a sour bug.
I was moving the indoor plants, that I put out for the summer, back into the jacuzzi room yesterday and there was a small frog in the watering hole of one pot. They are the cactus like things so they are sitting on the front porch under cover to dry out and get a chill before I bring them in. He moved from the back arbor to the porch okay but everytime I bump the pot he sticks his head out and looks at me. Couldn't get a picture.
SUch a beautiful courtyard. I can't believe it is almost fall.
Willow, was that a hardy fuschia in your second courtyard post? If it is, you need to post it on the brand new Fuschia Forum.
Willowwind2- Beautiful Courtyard!!
Willow, your courtyard is just beautiful!!
Katye, Yeah for being one up on the slugs! Beautiful bloom on your clem! I really like the fuchsia as well....am wondering if that is the same as the one that I call my "common" one? Mine is a very agressive grower/spreader, and I just adore it. Don't know if you can tell from this pic, but would love to know it's real name. I was planning on posting it in the "name this plant" in our new fuchsia forum.
Beautiful combos, Julie
Your front porch is so gorgeous.
The only fuchsia that shows is in the blue pot by the gate. It is my mini hardy and i'm sending cuttings to Pedricks soon. They was a hummer on it this morn sucking those tiny flowers. Cute
Love that pot combo RJ
RJ.....what flowers are in the yellow combo? It's beautiful, would like to do that next year.
Looks like Bidens & Callibrachoa or small Petunias.
I love yellow - it's always so uplifting on a greyday.
Julie - I saw your photo on the Hardy Fuchsia thread. It was hard to get perspective on size - how big approximately?
Sally, Katye is half right...is is Calibrachoa "Cabaret Yellow" and the bidens looking creature is Sanvitalia "Tequila". This is the first year that I found the Sanvitalia, and it got off to a slow start, but I love it now! I have had some very ugly yellow calibrachoa in the past (bought because the tag said purple...go figure), but the lemony color of this one is just beautiful!
Katye, I am 5'8", and the hardy fuchsia in my photo comes up to my nose right now. Like I said in that post, it had died back to the ground last winter, but it can easily reach 7+ feet and still be draping wonderfully if we have a mild winter and I don't prune it to try to keep it under control. It is just such a wonderfully "graceful" plant...
I really like how the flowers tremble in the breeze that blows through my orchard every afternoon.
Simple, but lovely eye-candy.
Well said!
Love the entrance to your greenhouse, Lynn. Makes mine look very plain. I'll have to try to follow your example and try to do something better next year. By the way, keep us in mind if you do get to Pixy's this weeend. I am off to party so can't make it.
Beautiful, Katye. More pictures!
Mom, your pots are gorgeous!
And Lynn, I agree with Mom about the enterance to your greenhouse! What a way to make it enjoyable to enter your "girl cave"! Will have to work on that!!!
Katye, Love your combos, especially the yellow/orange/chocolate. I love cuphea, although I have not had a lot of luck with the firecracker variety in the last couple of years. Will try again next year though, as it is such an interesting plant. I would have though that variety would have gone as crazy self seeding as my others have, but no such luck.
Mine overwinter in planters outside that are within 10' of the house (sheltered) & usually come back.
I think Cuphea llavea is a bit more tender - it's the one that has larger flowers.
C. ignea is in the planter with the callies & choc cosmos. We'll see how it does out further from the house this Winter.
Katye, C. ignea is the one that I haven't had luck with. My first plants were in what I consider one of my zone 8 portions of my yard, and they did not over winter, nor did they reseed. My C. Miniata "Summer Melody" is in what I would consider one of my zone 6 areas, and it does not over winter but reseeds almost like a weed!
Haven't tried the miniata. Will look for it next year.
Can save seeds for you! Will take a pic tomorrow so you can see if you are interested. Mostly pastel colors, and a much less "bushy" plant, but such a nice filler and I just love the flowers themselves.
That's what I so enjoyed about the cupheas - they have very cool flowers. Performance-wise: excellent.
I would love some seed.
