Love this color combination!
Garden Pics: Late Summer Beauties!
I hope they spring back. My Joe Pye is under a Maple tree, so it is protected from the rain, but they do not look as nice as yours. They must need more sun than they are getting.
What is the cultivar of your drop dead gorgeous bamboo in the background? When did you plant them? How many? It is stunning.
There's a nursery on Avondale Road, north of Redmond that's going out of business. They have a Eupatorium at the back of their property that is probably 10 feet high and 10-15 feet across. It's stunning. Linda, it looks like yours is well on its way . . .
Thankyou Lynn- there are about 3 different varieties is that pic. The one in the foreground is Phyllostachys bambusoides 'Allgold' and variation of Phyllostachys nigra but a very aggresive variety. Also Pseudosasa japonica Arrow Bamboo on the right. It all was planted about 17 years ago. Only about one culm of each was planted and I only lost 2 out 100 plants. Joe is over 10 years old and seems to thrive near the stream............it never gets fertilized or watered, by me anyways. I love stuff like that!

Woah! That's a lot bigger than I thought it was. *impressed*
Yeah. That Joe is pretty big - and that plant behind him is big, too. LOLOLOLOLOL. Your Darmera looks pretty happy . . .
WOW! It definitely puts it into perspective.
The Joe in front of the Joe thanks you ;) Our house is situated up on a rock wall and so the view of the garden is deceptive.
PNWMOUNTAINGIRL..
Hey...I have a Jack Frost Brunnera AND the Blue Satin hibiscus! But...my Jack Frost is in dense shade and my Blue S hibiscus is in half day sun! That looks GREAT together for sure!
Azorina..
NEAT photos of GIANT PLANTS...lol To the left of your hubby is that Gunnera (sp?), I'd love to grow some of that too! How is that to deal with? Very fussy? At one of our garden tours last summer there was this AMAZING large plant growing under a tree area. Tooo many people so I couldn't locate the owner to ask. This stuff was chest high on me and I'm 5'4"....(and shrinking)...lol I had NEVER seen it before either...
another shot from farther away -
This home also had some AMAZING dwarf gnarlie specialty plants. They had multiple types of odd ball trees (with bizarre features - green pine cones...nubs and knobs...lol Many were all twisted up and growing not more then 10" off the ground. You could see they were really into UNIQUE and rare specimen plants. Again... they were swarmed with people asking questions so we ventured to the next garden.

Those are gorgeous. Dibs on a few seeds! ;)
star of yelta.
Thanks Linda
That's an awesome photo, and I think those are the kind of gargantuan leaves people pour up into the concrete reflection ponds...and ornamental yard-do-das etc. I see you're zone 8a...and I'm zone 8b. Tell me about the Gunnear please? Growing requirements etc. Thanks!
Everyone's photos are so enjoyable. I tell ya... I get lost in Dave's G. Half the time I can't remember where the heck I've been...and sometimes it's just by LUCK I stumble BACK into a thread I may have posted on days earlier.
Do you guys have tricks for back tracking to find your posts? Do you leave little cyber byte crumb trails to find your ways around?
Inquiring (and lost) minds want to know!...lol
Off to work.. poof*

If you go to your "home" page your thread watcher should show you if there are new posts in any thread you've posted in. And at the top and bottom of any thread you'll find a "Watch this thread" link that you can click to make it show up in your thread watcher even if you don't post in it.
Awwww... nothing sadder than a mopey frog. hehe.
I saw my toad leaving his favorite spot at the pond today. He was walking around the edge. That was really creepy looking.
They do look weird when the walk or climb out of the pond. It is a bit eery.
Pony - nice Ranger. I got a BlueBoy Ranger back in February - it compliments my blue/yellow/purple/white PNW garden quite nicely. Best tool ever for the garden.
Ford Rangers are the best. Congratulations, Pony!
Bea.....beautiful canna, and I'll join your buddy, I'm bummed I can't go too.
Nice Ranger Pony!! I'm sure it will come in handy for the garden.
There'll be no stoppin' me now... Bwahahahaha!
*cough* Um, I mean yes, it will come in quite handy, I'm sure. :)
ROFLOL
Hurray for you and your new truck. I also have a Ranger.
Go Rangers!
One word, Pony, manure, manure, and more manure . . .
