Garden Pics: Late Summer Beauties!

Wow! Sophie and my Henry look like twins!

Pony your Henry is darling too! All his mice friends remind me of my Calico cat who lived 23 years. It was funny but she loved these little stuffed catnip fish toys about the size of your mice. We kept buying new ones as they would disappear. We searched everywhere and could never find where they were until one day my husband had to install a new dishwasher. Well we found dozens of them under the old washer. The cat was in heaven with all the fish..she did not care that most were covered with dust bunnies.

LOL! Ours love to hide them/lose them too- that's why I finally bought a huge box of the darn things.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Kathy, yep, first time she's hid in my purse--I just had to get that picture. First time I've ever had a purse pet. :)

Pony, that's a great picture! They really do look like twins-and Sophie adores those mice, too. Where did you find the big box?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I got them on Amazon.com, of all places. I think there were 60 in the box.

That photo has actually been published in a book- the Icanhascheezburger website put out a LOLcat book and used several of my photos. My kittehs is faymuss. ;)

oh, very cool. ;) I can see the purrparazzi now-flashes galore, groupies, the works... ;) oh wait, he doesn't need groupies-he's got staff (to borrow an old cat joke)

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Bahaha! purrparazzi! :D

That photo of Henry reminds me of my clever daughter-in-law. She was trying to get my 2 year old grandson to give up his pacifier and he started stashing them around the house. She found all of them, the added about 20 more to the pile, and dumped them over his head. He was in heaven for about 20 minutes, taking turns popping them in his mouth, then he got up and walked away and that was that.

LOL! Too much of a good thing?

Go an email from Shelly today. Whew!! She's fine. Her computer broke and Precious has needed veterinary care, so she couldn't buy another.

It sounds like Precious is okay. But in addition to those things, she was sent to a fire in California (no phone, no computer) and she ruptured a tendon in her finger, an injury that may require surgery.

So she apologizes for worrying anyone and says she'll be back as soon as she can.

Here's what I've been breakin' my back with the last couple of days. Need to go get more soil to finish filling it now.

That's a good looking flowerbed.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks. :) It'll look a lot better when it's filled. ;)

Is the wading pool going into the design somehow?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Nope. I had it set up with rocks piled around it, but it just wasn't big enough for where I had it. It'll get used later.

This is my Mimosa (Albizia julibrissin). Not so unruly if carefully situated.

Linda, your place is gorgeous. I love that front border.

Eugene, OR

Does anyone know how to let the east coast people know Shelly is o.k.? I've read they were asking too.

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Pony :)

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Azorina, your gardens are beautiful. Love mimosa but killed three of them here. Don't make it through the winter

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Willowwind2- Are you near the Hood Canal? I was thinking that may be warmer than I. Gees and I thought third time was a charm. Maybe you can start over and try the Black Mimosa? LOL

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yep - I let them know as soon as I did. Thanks for the reminder, Sally.

Pony - nice work on your bed. Looks like a great place for some granite pieces and those alpines that Rick at Mt. Tahoma sells.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I'd love to make a rocky crevice planter type thingie at some point. This bed has already got a ton of plants, bulbs and seeds waiting to go in it. I just can't build beds fast enough to keep up. hehe.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Azorina, I do live on Hood Canal but six hundred feet above it on a hill right across from the Olympics. We generally always have a late freeze in April that gets anything that is slightly tender. I've also lost 3 Australian bush mints. I really love those. Had one for two years before it croaked.

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

We have some friends living in the same area......they have a panoramic veiw of the canal..spectacular!!
Pretty bush.......too bad! But worth the risk!

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Linda, did you get that passion flower from me?

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

OK, I got brave and started a new thread while Shelly is somewhat incapacitated without a computer:
