Oh LK, please keep us informed and we'll be praying for you all.
Cindy, I'm so sad for your loss. I hope you can remember all the good times and think of him and smile.
I had a really busy day yesterday. Exercise, then off to Walmart for a prescription and some groceries. Came home and put tomatoes, peppers, garlic, onions and mushrooms on to roast in the oven. Then over to Berties to check on her (her back was out) and she was getting ready to pick tomatoes, so I helped her pick those. I didn't do it for pay, but I came home with 8 banana peppers, 4 ears of corn, a quart of pickled beets and some beet juice for pickled eggs. Yum...
I wanted to have the roasted sauce with spaghetti for supper, but Bill didn't so we had the banana peppers stuffed instead. Yum on that too.
Had to go let Mark and Tina's dogs out since they were not going to get in until late from their vacation in Chicago, and her brother was not available to do it yesterday. Then a stop at Sears for Bill to pick up some tool he needed.
Got home and the silly koi had knocked over the elephant ear plant (AGAIN!) and this time they managed to get right down in the old potting soil I had used when I first potted them up...you guessed it, perlite in the pond EVERYWHERE! So I repotted the EE and I don't think they'll be tipping that over now, must weigh a 100 pounds. Then tried to get as much of the perlite out as possible. What a job. There is still some there today, but not nearly as much as last night. Didn't come in until after dark and I was so tired I didn't even clean the kitchen.
I'm hoping today is a better day pond wise!
Have some cleaning that MUST get done, so I'm off.

Oh what a day. Definitely prayers going out for LK to have a safe trip and her son to NOT be in serious condition.
Sorry if I'm not jumping up and down to see you posting Bon. I am thankful that it's only your pc. Somehow again, I can't draw the energetic side of me.
Aww Crissy.... hugs sweet one. Let's you and I share a bottle of Robitussin. Kidneys are moving with the Alka Seltzer, but the allergies' stuffiness plus what's going through this head.. oh Lord, sometimes I wish I could sleep for hours uninterrupted!
Cookie, I never thought of using banana peppers for stuffed peppers. That has a better taste than bell peppers. With bell peppers, I had to remove the skin to get rid of the bitter taste. You're definitely Bertie's angel.. when you can't do for yourself anymore, I pray that a thousand angels show up at your door.
Hi Barb... no sewing again for me today. But gonna draw up ideas for a tote. Got a bunch of quality 'quirky' fabrics that will be perfect for the woman who's not afraid of being different!!
Donna.. did you get a camera? Don't wait too long till Tristen's clothes turn to rags.
Thanks Betty. We are family after all :( When one hurts, we all feel the same.
(((((((((((((((Cindy)))))))))))))
Ooo.. Kel needs the pc.. talk to you later.
LK, Travel safely. Keeping your son and your family in our prayers.
Keep us posted LK. I hope is going to be OK. I don't think I can handle too much more bad news.
Cindy, as hard as it is for your family right now, they are doing the right thing. Russ will live on in every person he helps.
Jaye feel better soon. You've been under the weather all week. Wish I was l closer so I could cook that chicken for you. That'll perk you right up.
Another interesring day in landscaping world here. Was staking a tree with my partner. He's holding the tree and I'm pounding in the stakes. Felt something bite me once and then again and realized I had apparently aggravated a bunch of ground bees with my vibrations. They swarmed and I ran. Anyone that knows me will tell you I am diametrically opposed to running. A person should never run unless being chased by something big and ugly. :)) Well I ran today. Only got stung 3 times, but the one in between my shoulder blades is nasty. Probably because I can't reach it to scratch. :)).
Hugs to everyone and please lets have no more bad news.
Juanita
LK - I pray & hope that your son is alright........
Cindy - I continue to pray for you and yours.
Bless all my sistahs - take care today!

Juanita, a tobacco poultice will draw out the stinger. Grandma believed in that. At least you won't get it infected by scratching! Getting a visual of you running... must have beaten the Bolt's world record!!
Yah it seems bad news come in waves.. let's hope this ends all.
How are you today Susan? Stomach any better?
Heat index in triple digits here. Stay cool ladies.
Hello everyone! I just left the hopsital, and he is really sore. he has about 10 stitches in his face, above the left eye, and his hips, and legs are really sore. The Dr, thinks his kidneys are damaged, but more test to follow will reveal that!
Thanks for the prayers! I will update later, when I find out more info!
Love you all
LK
We continue to keep you all in our prayers....will hope the kidney damage is not too serious. Take care of yourself too....(((Hugs)))
Trisha
LK, I sure hope the doctors can do something for his kidneys. If you need anything let me know. (yah, right.. like I can just be at your place in nano seconds) :(
We'll be here praying for him and sending positive thoughts your way.
LK - keeping you in my prayers.....
Jaye - tummy has it's ups & downs. mostly Up now, so it's good ^_^
Silly how a tummy can seem like so much trouble, until you hear about other's troubles. Mine is so minor considering what other's have on their plates.
Take care everyone - you're thought of often by me, although I may not say it often enuff.........
((((((((((((((everyone)))))))))))))))))) You're blessed and loved - choose to believe that!!!
Love you too Susan!
Juanita, wish you're here cooking. Got two packets of Mahatma, thighs staring at me... got to get up and do it. If not the mushrooms will turn a nasty black :(
LK, prayers for your son and tests to come out better than what the dr thinks.
I've been busy as a bee again, probably will be through January. It keeps me out of trouble anyway LOL
Busy being productive is good for your sanity, Crissy :D Lord knows you need that in your work environment.
Can't believe I removed the skin, deboned the thighs, quartered up. Throw everything together... sliced mushrooms, asparagus (found some in the fridge), pats of butter (love butter) cover the dish and straight into the waiting oven. All this in less than 1/2 hour!
Kel's anxious to taste the product.
Does sound good!
Evening everyone,, waving
Jaye its gonna be a bit before I can get a new camera.. Money just wont allow it right now but Im watching freecycle and craigslist..
Cindy keeping you and all of Rustys family in our prayers..
LK It sounds like your son will have a bit of time in healing. My family will keep him in our thoughts for a speedy recovery.. I have been hit by a car and it wasnt pleasant so I can only imagine what he must feel like with a truck hitting him.. Take care momma he will be okay..
Susan so glad to hear your tummy is on the upside again.. '
Juanita, ,, Bees in the ground.. Right that something I need to remember.. I didnt see any in Florida and Max says they are around here.. Better keep my shoes on.. Grr I dislike shoes as much as you hate running.. lol Try bag balm for drawing out anything left behind as well. Works great on everything.
just another routine day at work today for me.. Left side of my jaw feels soo much better and I was able to chew on that side today. I have extensive filliing work done on a few teeth and wow I really dislike the lady who did it. She was really rough and a few times I actually told her about it and she said your so sensitive.. She has no idea who she is talking too... They want me to go back on next tues for the right side fillings and then we are still waiting on the ok for pullin the front teeth and getting the partial made.. They will only schedule me on tuesdays and I hate that its taking time away from work because we are already slow.. Gotta talk the boss into letting me put out flyers.. Heck Ill pay for them if I have to I need to make more money..
My mom called and told me her Boss of over 10 years son was given 2 days to live. He has been battling cancer for the last year and they have told him the fight is over. So her trip is being postphoned until October to come visit us. She told Bob (her boss) not to worry about anything she would run the shop and take care of everything until he was able to return.
Just alot happening in everyones lives right now. I wish you all nothing but the brightest cheerful moments and heartfelt huggs..
Thank you Donna, I know your wishes for us are truly sincere. You've been through so much yourself, and can certainly give us pointers on faith.
So sorry for being so insensitive.. CRS here.. darn forgotten that your camera's not working. Wish I have an extra, and I'll send it to you.
I do hope you won't get the same treatment next Tuesday. How inconsiderate when it's your mouth she's working on!
October will soon be there and you both will enjoy each other better.
Food's ready. Smells good.. will post a pic later :D
nuuummy - Jaye can I come over for dinner? Chicken sounds really really good!!
O wait - I have chicken in the fridge......... the stuff I got from the store, and it's already cooked lol
just add salad & rice & I have the same delish dinner we had the night before, with no trouble at all ^_^
what in the world is Mahatma (other than Ghandi!)?
It's a packet of preseasoned rice.. wait.. let me take a pic..
Hi Ladies,
I swear when it rains it pours :(. Now my granddaughter is sick. She has been running temps for 5 days now. Any wheres between 101.4 - 103.4. Today was her first day of school and she couldn't go. I spent the day at my daughter's babysitting her. WHY!WHY!WHY!
Aww poor sistah Cindy. You're at your wits' ends.. Hang in there. Your grandaughter surely need you.
You ask why.. we don't have the answers.. but He won't give us anything we can't handle. That is His promise.
((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))
Here it is Susan.. Preseasoned Saffron Rice. Got that turbaned character on the front.. I can send you some if you can't find any in Canada.
I'm checking to see if a store has it, now. There's a grocery giant here, called Real Canadian Superstore, and they have a lot of ethnic foods.
Actually, it's not ethnic food... more like New American!
If you have The Real Superstore, they do carry it.
Sending prayers and love to both Linda Kay and Cindy. Cindy, I agree with Jaye, He promised not to give us more than we could handle but I think it is only human to questions when it comes in such large amounts. You both are in my thoughts daily and I have missed visiting these past few months.
Tomorrow will be my last day sitting the girls this summer (sure I will do more when they have days off from school during the year) and it is rather bitter/sweet. I have seen them grow, change and learned so much about their really different personalities. I am tired but overall I am blessed.
Jaye, sorry to hear you have been down--can't have that!!! Please take care of yourself. BTW, good thing I was at your house for dinner or Kel would have had a hard time getting any mushrooms or asparagus!!! The dish looks so good.
Loads of things are awaiting me tonight so I will bid all good night and my prayers for all.
Jaye - it's the Real Superstore, and I just spoke to them. They don't have it.
I would have thought it was my "best bet" for it.
How big is the bag? 1 lb or so?
Hehehehe.. Kel just challenged you to an arm wrestle Maid M! I got to remind that boy that if he wants more of your lemon pound cake, he'll have to give up some asparagus and 'shrooms for you!!
I know you'll be glad to finally being able to plan things for yourself.
Rest well... see you in the morning.
Susan, they come in either 5 oz or 10 ozs. No problem in sending you some ;)
Jaye your so sweet. I still question why so much can be handed to us (all of us) but one thing I have found is that having all you sistahs helped us find our way through our hard times. Its a hard struggle but it keeps getting better ach day regardless of how bad my day has been I just remember that we were capable of starting over and nothing happens overnight. I promise as soon as I can I will get more pictures.. I do wish I could find one -- even checked the goodwill today on my lunch but no luck.. Dinner looks fabulous by the way.. Im a picky eater and can do mushrooms but the kids would love it... lol as for the dentist I think I will request a different girl to do my fillings if possible.. She really just was way to rough and darn near chocked me a few times with the suction hose.. Dont like her and dont want her in my mouth again if possible..
Cindy Im so sorry.. You really dont need anymore to fill your mind with. Im praying that your family keeps their spirits up and now that your GD fever goe away quickly.. Tristen did that once with no other symptoms and it was scarlet fever.. A few antibiotics and a few days later it was gone.. Lets hope its something that will go away easily.. (((HUGGS))))
Marion dont worry I think your right and you will have lots more days wiht them through the year.. Besides dare I say Christmas is only a few months away and that will be a few weeks off right?
I am sure I will be sitting some during the holidays. Looking at it all today, I have actually grown and wouldn't change a thing. Each one is unique and can keep you on your toes--goes without saying--but the sharing so much in their young lives has been so good for me.
I have missed everyone but maybe things will get back to semi normal around here--only have to decided what to do about replacing the freezer; go home for Mom's surgery the 31st and get the festival committee called back into action. Yeap, things sounding normal again.
Tell Kel he just couldn't have it all--I do share--but he would have to forgo a few pieces!!! LOL
oh Jaye - that would be lovely. I love trying new recipes and love Rice even more.
This is the seasoning for the Rice, right?
I asked DH if he'd like to try some saffron rice and he said "sure......... why not?!"
You never gave up though, Donna. That's the key. You lift up your head high, move those feet and keep on believing. God sees you helping yourself and He moves things for you.
Maid M.. it's almost that time again?? Committees??? Oh no.. then it's another round of being busy again!
Might have to do paste and copy of one of your postings repeatedly throughout SI.. so we'll remember your writing pattern!!! Lolol!!!
Susan, consider it done, you don't even need to send buttertarts.
Mahatma is a packet of par boiled rice with its' own seasonings.
What other USA stuffs do you need? Let me know.
So sorry for your loss Cindy, prayers going up for the family. I'm hearing too much sad news lately.
I missed out on printing the chicken and saffron rice recipe and I do love saffron rice. Trying to make healthier meals for us. Could you tell me what else I need besides rice, chicken and mushrooms for this meal? Thanks
Wish I could send buttertarts, though!
Thanks so much, Jaye, for the rice ! I'll need the recipe too - for your chicken dish.
hmmmmm what other stuff? well............. how about US $$?? roflmfbo
wish I had your weather now & then (not during hurricane season, tho!)
I couldn't think of a thing I want, Jaye - thanks for the offer lol
oh wait - YOU for Christmas dinner - wanna visit, u & kel? You could have as many butter tarts and whipped shortbread as your little heart desired. You said you like butter? well, the whipped shortbread is almost nothing BUT butter ^_^
I put on a real mean spread @ Christmastime!! Have I tempted you, yet?
Christmas stockings, my own special fruit cake (soaked of course....), homemade mincemeat pies, homemade bread, sweet potatoes, and the Turkey, of course - with lots of homemade stuffing! yummmmmmm I'm feeling hungry again, and I just ate dinner LOL
Susan
Pegi, this is Juanita's recipe. I didn't add extra seasoning, and the dish is still so delicious!
The Best Chicken and Rice
1 package of Mahatma Saffron Yellow Rice
4 chicken thighs skin removed
Chicken Broth
Montreal Chicken Seasoning
Spray a square casserole dish with cooking spray. Empty the pack of rice mix into the dish. Add 1 2/3 cups of chicken broth to the rice mix. Add 1 TBS of butter. Place the chicken thighs on the rice, sprinkle with Montreal seasoning. Cover and bake 45 minutes at 350. After 45 minutes remove the cover and cook until all the broth is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Serve..enjoy..and put the dishes in the dishwasher. Awesome!
Juanita
Oh Susan! Is it Christmas tomorrow!!! It's been a long time since I had mincemeat tarts.. Turkey............do you do Yorkshire pudding too?
Lolol.. you're tempting me.. never know when I'll show up at your doorsteps. But I promised Maid M... Florida first!!
Thank you Juanita & Jaye ^_^
As soon as I have some Mahatma, I'll try it - it sounds good!
