North Central Texas Fall Roundup Trade Thread.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Josephine for clearing that up! Betony is a fine trade for my stuff. Do you grow yours in part shade?

Yes to manure!!! Sheila, are you going to make "tea"? (watchout if you have an open house!)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

No not planning on another just yet, spring would be a better time!
I hadn't thought about the tea from it, but would consider it.
I had just gotten through sifting my small bins of compost and got about 180 pounds of great looking stuff to spread. I had added the lhama manure when it was making too. Wish I had taken a picture of my bin before I spread it...Nice!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes Anna, I have it in part shade, but it tends to lay down. I put your name on one.

Sheila, isn't compost great? we love ours too.

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

Quoting:
Sheila_FW: D & P, Glenna...May I have some of the great Lhama manure for a Rudbeckia and coneflower?

Sheila, will put you on the "poop" list ... uh, that didn't come out quite right, did it? Will put you on my trade list. LOL.

Photo is of KC, one of the producers of that great stuff. Wool has to be kept sheared really short in summer so he can stand the Texas heat.

Glenna, may I have some of that wonderful Poop also?
What would you like from my list?
Josephine.

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine, I would like a frostweed plant, if you have one left.

Glenna

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Finally got my list done.

Maggi and/or Ken, there's a specific trade request on there for you.

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

Quoting:
Quilter Gal, strawberry geranium, oxalis, columbine, spiderwort, frogfruit, Katie ruellia are all shade loving.

Any shade plant would be great with me - especially if it will spill over the side of a container or stand up tall in the back. I'm really good at picking the middle plants for a mixed pot, but I never seem to find the tall or trailing ones. :)

I rooted some cuttings of the licorice basil for you and I'm bringing you the seed for it, too. In my original post, I had the coloration and scent mixed up with a different basil. The lemon-licorice is actually a shorter, narrower plant than I'd thought, smaller-leafed and a brighter (lime or almost chartreuse) green.

Glenna, I think this is the first time I've ever been happy about being on someone's poop list....

;)

Have fun!
Elizabeth

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady, I can not find any such plant Autumn Flame Ginger. What is a tnn co-op? I will take the deal and give you a Brug and a Ginger you don't have. It's all good. Thanks.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

kenboy..... Is it you who has a variety of gingers? I would love two different varieties please. I have the white butterfly already. Look at my list and see what you will trade for them.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Glenna, the Frostweed is yours.
Josephine.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Patty, I would love to have cuttings of a bunch of your coleus plants. I can bring cuttings of several brugs that you don't have.

I lost all of my coleus except a few. The heat was just too much for me to keep them alive this year. We had too many triple digit days and a drought to make matters worse.

Kenboy,

If you scroll back and find one of your own posts, then you will see a small "edit" option underneath the date. Click it and you can edit your old posts.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I started my list. Not much this fall!

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie, I put you down for some wood violets.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Dennis! Is there anything you want in trade?

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Stephanie, no need to bring anything for me. I'm glad to give away the patch of volunteers that came up in my lawn. :)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Dennis!

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

If someone would be willing to show me at the round up how to divide mature heucheras, please let me know what tools and soil mix I need to bring and I will give you one of the divisions in exchange.

Thank you! :)
Elizabeth

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

qg, just dig up the clump and divide the separate plants, they should their own roots. Pot in a well draining pot in any good potting soil, you should be in good shape. They are not picky plants.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Quilter Gal , I have those strawberry colored gomphrenas and can bring for you and anyone else a seed head. They grow in very dry sunny areas...like cracks in the sidewalk!
For part shade, I will bring you zexmenia It grows in shade but may be floppy. Strawberry geranium likes deep shade and frog fruit is less fussy. If you are not liking these, LMK. Also have lots of yellow columbine.See my tradelist in my profile as to more details.
Would be interested in a broccoli start if you have.

Anna

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

Anna, I didn't know that - maybe that's why gomphrena hasn't ever done very well for me - too rich a soil and too much water? Maybe if I put it out in the strip close to the street, it will work - there's nothing in it to water so far, but I could water it when it needs it.

That frogfruit sounds interesting.

And yes, you are welcome to broccoli starts. Poor things are struggling no matter where I put them, but now that it's cooling off at night, they seem to be perking up a little.

Have a great day!
Elizabeth

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Elizabeth, if you want something else that doesn't need a lot of water, you could try some of the smaller Ruellias. I have one that's grown in a hole about 2" in diameter in our concrete slab patio. I'd be happy to bring you a few! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/38183/

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Ken, that sounds fabulous! :) Regarding the ginger I have, hedychium Tahitian Flame, TNN is Terra Nova Nurseries. Here is their photo: http://www.terranovanurseries.com/r/pages/plants/hedychium-tahitian-flame.php Mine have not bloomed yet, but the foliage is just like the photos.

Charlene, I have you down for coleus. If you lost all of yours, I don't need to worry about what you might already have, right? I honestly don't know what all I have out there right now, but I'll bring you several. If you have brug cuttings to share, that would be great!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Patty, I appreciate the coleus trade. I will gladly share brug cuttings with you. I do have three coleus left. One is ducky royale and one is bright ruffles and the other is chocolate mint.

Charlene

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

Stephanie, that sounds great - thank you! What can I bring you?

Have a great day!
Elizabeth

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady, we do not have Autumn Flame but we do have Tahitian Flame. Ours has not bloomed either. I broke it up to get production. When you said variegated I should of figured that one out.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I am adding some Bananas and EE to my list. Bananas will be 3 to 5 feet, if you want one that is 16 to 20 feet you can pick them up at our home.

Dallas, TX

Banana,

Hi, could I please have some of your society garlic (if you still have some to give)... I'll bring you coffee grounds.

Thank you,

Kate

Dallas, TX

sylviatexas,

Could I please have some of your Comfery? Please let me know if there is something on my list you'd like, or something else you're looking for.

Thanks,

Kate

Dallas, TX

Hi all,

I've added to my haves list. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7022096

I'm basically looking for any sort of edibles - though I have too many peppers and tomatoes already - (if they're decorative all the better), so if it's not on my wants list but you think I'd like it just let me know.

Thanks,

Kate

Hutchins, TX

Dfwdennis, I would like to have some of your violets if I have anything you might want.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

msgrubbyfungus, I have plenty of society garlic. As it is named, it stays well behaved and blooms for spring to fall. Just want you to know ,it is NOT edible. If you still want it, let me know.

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, I'll put you down for wood violets. I have plenty! I might be interested in a "rose tree". Do you have more information about it?

Dallas, TX

It's a very pretty plant though, so I'd still like some Banana.

Thank you :)

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

msgrubbyfungus,Would you like to trade the garlic for a Ruby Red Swiss Chard start?
BTW, what inspired your thread name...very memorable!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

msgrubbyfungus, I can fix you up with Bananas.
