Jaye,he said that the flower on it now will last about 6 months. When will the real flowers start coming up?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Juanita, here are some of the coleus I got from you! So far, I have lost maybe 6 of them, but all the rest are doing well in full sun, and 100+ temps!

There you are Cody! That's actually the bract. They come in many colors.
Here's a Bromeliad Fact Sheet you might be interested in reading.
http://www.gardens.si.edu/horticulture/res_ed/fctsht/brome.html
Don't know how long they took to flower. But I had bought some that already had blooms. Killed my brommies :(

Do you pinch them back to make them grow fuller, LK?
Coleus are abundant back in Singapore. But it's here that I see so many different colours. Amazing!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I meant to write, pinch off the flowers.... duhhh!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Rvnsbk, the trick to cooking "gasless" beans, is cook carrots with them, and throw away the carrots!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,

It turned out to be a long day. Left the house at 5:30, got to hospital at 6:30, they took Mom in at 8:30 doctor came to talk to me at 10:45. Mom's knee is a mess. He did the best he could, but she may have, to have total knee replacement within the next 2 years. She says "NO WAY!!!!" Been there, done that, on right knee. She was in recovery from 10:30 until 2:00. They had given her a spinal and it was taking a long time to wear off. We finally got home at 3:00, got her on the bed and she immeditly fell asleep. She's been up and walking around, but is now laying down with ice pack. I'm so tired that after I post this I'm fixing dinner then heading for my room to watch Saving Grace. Will probably fall asleep. Thank God for TIVO, lol. So I will talk at ya all tomarrow. I need to go to Curves, haven't been going very often and I can fill it. Then need to work outside, the weather has turned around to being cool again. It's crazy not good for veggie gardens.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Lk your coleus look great. I had a bunch in Florida but havent done any here. I just came in from watering and most things look great. Something seems to be eating my dahlias though. Not sure what it is and honestly hadnt looked at the bed in at least a week... Bad plant mamma

Cindy Do take care of yourself. We will be here waiting on updates as you can do them but dont over do it. Our veggie garden is confused to .The only thing unphased are our potatoes and a few pepper plants.

Jaye thank you .. I sent stacy a dmail and am hoping I will here back from her.

Love the upside down writing.. Very interesting and I may have to send a email when I have time to write a full email.. lol

Elizabeth Happy Birthday...

Love all the pretty pictures..

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Audrey for the hint on the beans.

LK your garden there looks great., I love that little bee. Is that Tweety? Whatever it is it is cute.

Juanita

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is tweety! Just another collection I have going! Angels, tweety birds, hummingbirds....
Jaye I do pinch them all back, whether they have blooms or not, just to make them fuller.
So I have to say, that if they can survive this Texas 100+ temps, in the full sun all day, they can survive anywhere!
Cindy, glad the surgery is behind you. Now you she start the healing and therapy.
Good night all!

Sleep tight.
LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

For those of you trying to get ahold of Stacey, she is no longer a DG member. If you need to get a hold of her it's best to email her (if you have her email addy) also she is on Facebook. She just recently posted some pictures there. Janice group blasted some of us about Stacey.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, Stacey's membership is still active.

Oh, well I did not know that. Sure wished she'd drop in and say "HI" Would like to know how she's liking her tatoo.

Coushatta, LA

Good night everyone.....calling it a early one tonight.....Sleep well.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cody.. you're going to bed early without any prompting???
Hehehehe.. that means it's my bedtime too.

Good night everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone!

Coffee is ready!

Looky what I got blooming. Now I have proof, that these too will bloom in this stinking heat! And look at the ohter buds!

Hope you all have a great day!

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Congrats LK. That's a tough one, withstanding high heat. Hope more of yours will just ignore the heat and produce buds.
How are you today? Will you be seeing some relief from the heat?

It's supposed to come down to the 90's and am calling for scattered thundershowers. If it rains, that will be a big relief!

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm about to give up on my Brugs :( The one plant that had a bud.....the bud fell off. I need to make a special place to grow mine and I have a place in mind but GAWD!!! It's going to take a year of Sundays to get it cleared. I'm thinking of putting some of the mister hoses in a tree to keep the area cool. I'm going to start work on that area today. Mom's doing ok this morning except it hurts to put weight on the leg. I told well yea the shaved shards off off the knee cap, duh.

Must get busy lots to do before it gets hot.TTYL ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sounds like my mom Cindy, she's all stitched up inside and is mad because she can't do anything. I told her to give it a week for the stitches to start dissolving, but she won't.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Gooood Morning!!! It is raining and has been for most of the night!!! We have needed this soooo badly. Plants are so happy, unfortunately so are the weeds....

Laura and I have to go shopping this afternoon we need groceries and I need to pick up School supplies for Sage. It is almost that time again....for which parents are thankful!

Cindy, sounds like my mom...they did the same with her told her it would be at least six weeks recovery and she was upset when she couldn't go back to doing all her normal stuff a few days later.....moms, ya got to love 'em.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No relief in site for our temps! Going to be 100+ all week! I totally believe the soaker hose has saved them!
Trisha, glad to hear your getting rain. School starts here on the 24th, and all the parents are starting to get supplies here too!
Cindy, tell your Mom to take it easy. She needs to get up and move around, but easily!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Our schools start the 19th. Mom has been getting up, lots of potty breaks, lol. She that she must have gotten up a dozen times last night. I never even heard her, I slept like a log didn't get up until 6:30 I'm usually up between 4:30 and 5:00.

Just fixed her breakfast so now I'm heading back outside. Told her to behave, lol.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Where is everyone these days????

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Wondering that too Trisha. I miss everyone when they don't check in. I know it is a busy time for lots of folks with kids going back to school.

i guess it is just part of the ebb and flow of life. :))

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm here! Just got back from getting essentials for the rest of the week.
Maid M. is still babysitting her precocious grandbabies. I am sure she'll be glad when school starts.
C_Susan's still enjoying her mother. Lucky gal!
Can't account for others, Trisha.

It did rain. Lights were out for a while. Thunder and lightning scared my fur babies, and I had my lap overcrowded! In times of bad weather, funny how they get along very well.

Strange how when it's hard to do a certain action made almost unbearable by our illness or handicap.... that's when we had to do most of!!!
Your Mum will be making frequent trips, Cindy!! When I broke my leg, it seems my bladder got more active! But when I'm recuperating from a heart surgery, where mobility is not a problem... I use the bathroom less than regular!!

Think I'll fix another easy one pot meal. Sister sent some tortellini, that's what he'll be having. Me.. I'll just have a peanut butter sandwich!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi Juanita. Yes it's nice to see more regular faces popping up here. Nicer to see fresh ones too!
But like you say.. real time life does take precedence over this :D
Me not tied to anything time consuming like kids and a job, can have more sweet interruptions .... still I wish other sistahs show up frequently.. not to worry about them.
To you all that do take your time to do a quick updating post, I truly appreciate it. It makes my 'cubicle' more pleasant ^_^

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

OOhhh hot tortellini, drizzled with a little olive oil, grate on parmesan and EAT!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trisha, sister sent some bags from France. Kel loves them, especially the ones stuffed with goat cheese.
Yep, pure extra virgin olive oil, pressed from the olives in Florence, Italy.
Come on over, Kel won't mind sharing ;)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

terribly terribly sick today - see you tomorrow, or next..
susan

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

(((((((((((Susan)))))))))))))
Rest sistah. Praying whatever's ailing you will soon go away.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry Susan.....hope it isn't serious...get better soon!

PB sandwich was perfect, with a celery sticks on the side! Amazing, sometimes something so simple as that can be what the body needs.

We also popped in the movie "Knowing"...some parts are kinda slow. I've always like Nicholas Cage.

If anyone follows Top Chef, what do you think of Rick Bayless? But Hubert won tonight. He's another brilliant pro!

Cody, I'm glad you're getting some rest.
Bidding all a goodnight. Hope to see more sistahs here tomorrow!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I like Top Chef . Rick is good but Michael is my hero!

Coushatta, LA

Trisha
give me directions to your house, I'll be there, get the coffee on, get out the cleaning products
Elizabeth P.S. I do windows

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth if you do windows I'll cook for you. :0) I find that keeping windows clean out here in the boonies is a lost effort. Too many insects, critters, birds whatever. Can't keep em clean no matter what!

Morning everyone. Mowing day for me today. Partner is already on the way. Guess I better get going. Talk to you all later,

Juanita
