Trisha, that is soooo beautiful!! I crochet and can tell you that takes hours if not days!!
You certainly have a nice memento of Doris. So, to remember her, will you be using it for your Christmas dinner?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

This little ladderback side chair was always in the corner of the dining room...

Not just Christmas Jaye...it is on my table right now.....but as Bill pointed out I will probably remove it, or get a clear plastic cover to put over it for family dinners....I love them but they are a messy bunch!

I think one of my favorite purchases was this very unique weed puller...Doris loved her flowers and loved to work in the yard.....I have never seen a tool like this one...I love OLD garden tools...not like the cheap junk we get today!

Trisha, is that seat done in petit-point or cross stitch? You chose to remember her well. Doris is certainly smiling up there.
Yep, me too love old garden tools, but I have never seen one like that.. interesting!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, It is Petit-point.....I think it is a beautiful little chair and doubt if I will let anyone sit on it....may just keep it it as the chair for the "unseen guest"....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wonder if Doris herself had made that?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't know but I intend to ask her daughter when we see her later in the week....I am getting some starts of some her flowers and a cutting off the white hydrangea before they give up the lease on the house on the fifteenth......

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye I almost forgot this one!!!

Hope the new tenant will appreciate what she had left behind.

My gf had left behind a beautiful mature garden with banana trees, hedychiums, hidden gingers, giant elephant ears and heritage roses when she sold her home.
Too sad, the new owners got rid of them and joined other 'lawn owners of America'.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I've never seen a frog that's ugly!! Hey, leave me that in your will!
Pretty gold finish.. is that a brooch?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

We had a going away party for our property manager last week at the home of the two ladies at the end of the street.....they have done such a beautiful job with their back yard...it is now all patio's and flowers and stepping stones....no grass left!!! What little grass I have left may be leaving soon after seeing what they have done!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Yes it is Jaye....and I am with you....frogs are wonderful !

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The less grass Kel has to cut, the happier he is! Me too!
You'll enjoy a patio more than having to worry over a few square feet of long grass!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The only thing I don't like about my grass is that it takes up "flower space"....I would feel bad in a way getting rid of the grass as we have a guy (retired Vietnam Vet on disability) that mows our little bit of grass for $20 a month....does several yards in the neighborhood...unfortunately he isn't interested in doing any weeding....but I sure did like Beth and Lenore's yard!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye that is such a story about that lady. God has blessed her for sure! Now about her friend that beat her... God will get him too! Shame on him.
Trisha, love the items you got from Doris. They are so lovely! Glad you went to get them.
OUCH. Having all the toenails pulled at one time! I bet he had lots of pain meds? LOL
Well, it is 100 degrees again, no rain in sight! I can't got ot he pool for a few days, until this toe heals up a bit. I am so glad we have the A/C.
Ladies have a great afternoon.

We had 50% chance of rain and tstorms today, mainly in the central and eastern part of the state. Every website and local station said that, except for Accuweather, Accuweather said almost no rain. Accuweather was right once again, it rained a little in the north-central part of the state.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

No rain here Crissy. Mosquitoes are celebrating.

LK, it's her ex husband that did. Never asked whether he's paying for it. Yep, it's great of her to return to church. Take it easy sistah. Tx. ain't having snow any sooner! Plenty of time for that pool!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

No rain here either, the sun has come out and it is 80* right now....just got back from grocery shopping.....needed to do mine and son needed a few things so we met up at the grocery store.

Managed to get the Son in Law some pain meds....he has an appointment at the University Medical Center in Seattle on Thursday...I will drive him up so he can stay on his pain medications. Sure hope they can do something for him....

Going to have Cheesies for Supper tonight! It is an open faced grilled cheese sandwich with sprouts, sliced tomato, sliced avocado and sunflower seeds! They are sooooo good!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Trisha, I wish we're neighbours! Your sandwich is something I'd love!!! But I'll be eating it alone, as Kel's not too keen on sprouts.
I had fresh figs for supper. Yep fresh figs. No meat and no carbos. That's a first this week!!

Hope everyone had a great Sunday.
Good night everyone.

Jaye we could leave the sprouts off of Kel's...

Had Fried Rice for lunch.....

Tomorrow I am making Bean and pork Chili...it is a low fat recipe from Cristina, a Nutritionist in Chile... she has a thread on the Recipe Forum where she has posted a lot of good recipes...I hope to try all of them eventually. This is the link...

Good morning!
Breakfast is ready. Wheat toasts and some low sugar marmalade. Hope you all like Jimmy Dean's breakfast sausage. Scrambled eggs to go with that.

Cody, your double whites are beautiful.

Trisha, I never thought to use cubed pork in chillis with some carrots. We always add black beans to our chillis, besides using the regular chilli bleans plus red kidney beans.
Her notes say: "Cilantro soothes the digestive tract and relieves acidity or flatulence."
We are heavy cilantro users. Fresh and the ground coriander in Indian foods too. Unfortunately, Kelvin disproved that theory... his flatulence is still unhindered ;)

Cindy, I hope you're not in much pain today. Back pain is no fun.

LK, be patient with your toe. Stay indoors if you can. I'm glad I'm not in Texas now!
And for that matter, California.. triple digits will take anyone's enthusiasm away!

Crissy, hope today brings you some nice excitement at work! I know you'd make the best in any situation.

Maid M.. a few more days.. and then your life will be yours!! I am sure you're enjoying them.

Everyone have a safe Monday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone1
Jaye, thanks for the great breakfast. How is your back doing today?
Cody, those blooms are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

I have excitement at work, la la la lalala

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,

My back is ok. I think I just strained some muscles lifting the boat off the hitch and putting it on to the stand. I wanted more room in front of the garage for working on stepping stones and stuff. So I decided to move the boat out of the driveway and park it on the hill side.

Here is my newest Glad in bloom: Comet

Have to take mom to Sacramento for pre-op this afternoon then back down there again for orthoscopic surgery in the morning. I hate that drive, people drive like idiots.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, drive careful. No tickets!
We will be praying for you and your Mom.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, oh I do on this freeway.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I've always liked Sacramento.

Coushatta, LA

Thanks,Jaye and LK.It is suppose to be a double, but that is the noid that the second skirt rots in the middle because it won't drop and open up.So i just pull the rotten mess away and enjoy it just like a single instead of a double.I'm going to plant it in the ground next spring.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Jaye I love those sprouts too! Always growing them and micro greens. Trisha the sandwich sounds yummy! Trying to cut way back on cheese here, but I might have to cheat and give that a try.

Too hot for words here. The air quality is bad and I think I will just hide out inside for a few days.

Everyone have a great afternoon and try not to hurt yourselves anymore. :0) I should talk.....

Juanita

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Juanita I have been trying to severely cut back on our cheese consumption also, the other day I was at WalMart and they had Weight Watchers Shredded Cheddar Cheese......I have never liked any of the low or reduced fat cheeses before but this one is Good! It actually melts and acts like regular cheese!! So I don't have to give up my cheese altogether!

Jaye, I usually throw some black beans in anything that calls for beans....I consider most beans interchangeable and just use whatever I happen to have at the time....even blackeyed peas....

Getting ready to start the chili !!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Trisha thanks for the hint on the cheese. I'll try that. I too dislike the low fat stuff and would rather just go without. We are eating a ton of beans on this Med. Plan, so Jaye I feel your pain :)) Haven't figured out anything yet that will reduce the "gas" issue for DH. I adore beans in any form and they really fill you up. My Mom makes a chili that is all beans and veggies. I like it but DH (who spent some time in Texas) thinks that anything like that without meat in it doesn't merit being called "chili".

We are having shrimp over whole wheat couscous tonight. Gotta love those whole grains!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yum Shrimp, forget the whole grain, give me the cocktail sauce! LOL I ate a whole bag the other night :0

I hate cheese that doesn't melt, Walmart cheese is bad for that.

I don't know what I'm having, I wonder if Dave ate all of the delicious chicken soup he made last night... What sucks is I live 20 miles outside of the closest city that has anything, and drive right through it on the way home, so if I get home and have nothing thawed and anything else to cook, I have to go all the way back. I might go to Hot Springs by myself this evening and see what's going on in the world out there.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Somewhere I have Wheatberry Chili Recipe....it uses wheatberries instead of beans (or in addition to beans if you want)....it calls for chicken, or pork or beef but I leave the meat out and add beans when we have our New Years Ride as there are a lot Vegeterians in out club... Both our Veg. and not Veg. friends all love it. It freezes well too.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

edited out duplication...

Oh the main reason I popped in....IT IS RAINING!!!!

YOU GO GIRL ENJOY THAT RAIN........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oooooh I'm paying for what I've accused Kel of, BIG TIME!!!!!

Folks, I got greedy! Sunday evening, one of his help brought over some home made Menudo. Now you all know how any soup flavor will improve the next day right?
That's what I had for lunch! It's terribly good, with hominy and lots of chopped onions and cilantro.
Ashamed to say that if you lit me up, I'll be blown across the universe!!!!
Kel kept laughing at me when I kept 'tootin' !! Nope, the man didn't touch the soup. He hates tripe, and this is the only day he's gas free!!

TRIPLE digits here. Supposed to go on for the next three days. Juanita, I hope you drink some mineral drinks when you work out there in the heat.

Big time shrimp lover here too Crissy!
Back home I missed the colossal size shrimps we call prawns!

Trisha, did you hear about the mudslide in Taiwan? So many casualties. I hope it's not anywhere close to the town you used to live in.

Got buds on my Enchanted Dbl. White, Cody. With this heat, I have to put the sprinklers on in the evening!

Cindy, did you obey the speed limit?

Yes, I did ^_^ We did not get in to see the doctor until 4:00, mom's appt was for 2:15. I hate afternoon appts for that reason. We have to be back there by 7 which means we have to leave here at 6 am. I'm a little confused by this because the doctor said her surgery was at ten unless the first appt cancelled and they moved mom's up. I'm hoping I sure don't want to sit in that hospital for 5 hours. 3 hours until surgery then recovery then out by 12. I hope it's surgery at 8 out by ten. Please Lord let it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ^_^
