morning Ge and night Rc!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi one wish
I'llbe posting containers from this AM on coleus forum.
Our night temps were in the 70's last week, now we get 55's
The plants dont know what to do.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

It has been one confusing summer, JoAnn ....

Great shots, all! Shelly is right about trying to keep up!!! So many great shots of plants to add to the want list!!

Allison, that sure does look like Cuban Oregano. I have been growing it for years from the same cutting. Just bring it indoors (or start fall cuttings) for the winter! You can use it just like regular oregano; dried or fresh. It seems weird, but its taste is right on. It roots readily, and I have even just dropped branches of it on the ground which have grown. I like it in a hanging basket, as it can get really lanky.

I really like the variegation in the leaves. Plus, it smells really nice when you are weeding around it. I have it planted in a few places.

I am fond of that plant too.
I'm waiting for the ugly candy lily to open. Then you can see I'm not kidding.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

All these great pics I cannot keep up either. That 'Peppermint' is a winner and that little lily is on the list too. All these great shots, luv it. Here are a couple pics from here.

Nice hummer shot, Patti
I like the coloring of the brown candy lily but wish it was fuller...it matches my house perfectly

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Looking luvly all. Rozanne just went into the Great Book of Lists. Thanks (Shame Victor! You said the 'f' word :O)

Willie and JoAnn - Does the Cuban Oregano take over the place like regular oregano does? I had to rip my oregano out completely from my friendship garden because it was just out of control and the leaves (which I dry and use all winter for cooking) had become spotted with yellow spots and un-usable. I like the look of that Cuban Oregano.

Thomaston, CT

I do, too---and Jo Ann, I really like that candy lily---it would be awesome in a chocolate garden! This is DL Olalllie Lavendar, just opening---they have done some nice hybridizing to get late DLs.

I like that brown candy lily, too .... but, then again, I am told I like odd and ugly plants.

The Cuban Oregano is hardy only to zone 9, Louise. I keep it indoors overwinter. They require very little attention, my favorite plant requirement!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Interesting, Willie! That's too bad it isn't hardy; it's so pretty! I don't think it would go over well for me to add it to the arboretum that goes north and south with us! LOL I'm seriously trying to cut back on the plants I take back and forth.....seriously. LOL

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Jo Ann.... i'm with Willie and Dyane. I really like that brownish candy lily! there's very few other flowers out there that have a color like that one! very unique!

Robin.... Pretty lily and great lighting on it too!

Ngam... I love the view in Post #6918054

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks Willie.... it sure does look like yours... what a great scent to it... I had no idea I could cook with that... LOL... I enjoyed the plant all last winter... any time you touch the leaves it lets off that great aroma

Louise I will bring you a cutting when I come up there... if you want it.. roots easy like a coleus

nice hummer pic Ngam!!.. green envy is growing on me

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I have not checked this out since I think Wed. morning. Wed. night I went to see KC and the Sunshine Band in Hampton Beach, NH with a couple of friends. What a blast that was! I love them! We had a fantastic time! I was also at Hampton Beach for the day this past Sunday with Dad, my sister Hope and her daughter, and a couple friends. The beach was crowded, the water wasn't too cold, and we had a wonderful time. The weather was a bit cool, but still was nice. We want to go back the last weekend in Aug.

Pat, I had that same problem with my camera this past Sunday with the lens fogging up. I was taking pics and couldn't figure out why they were coming out like that. Then I looked at the lens. I had it in my backpack with a cold bottled water, separated by a towel. It took about 15 minutes for the fog on the lens to clear.

Victor, I love your Peppermint Schnapps hibiscus. Your butterfly shot is great, too!

Nice Casa Blanca lily, WC!

Tex, I like your pic with all the echis and BES. Nice! Your beds are looking great! Much better than hedges, for sure. You have a great collection of echis. I'm envious. I'm turning green already! I especially like that Meringue. I'm very jealous over your gerberas. I bought a lollipop one this year and get a few blooms, then nothing. The plant looks awful. What's your secret? I always deadheaded, and the soil was always moist. I think it was too moist with all the rain we had. I never had to do any supplemental watering. I had buds beginning to come up and they would die. So disappointing. Your gremlin is cute! Love the yellow butterfly shot!

Allison, your hibiscus is getting eaten up by sawfly larvae. They love hibiscus. They get mine every year. Monterey Garden Insect Spray will take care of them for you.

That Maxfield Parrish is a beautiful DL, Celeste! Tigermove, Baywatch and Sorbonne lilies are all gorgeous, too. Angelique is a real cutie!

Pat, I'm envying your Green Envy! Nice hummer shot!

sounds like a nice trip Karen

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sure was. Looking forward to going back. Wish we had a beach that nice around here. Nantasket Beach is nice, but there is no beach during high tide.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

now that could be a problem.. don't fall asleep there!!

going to pass out now... nite!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL! Nite!

Since the weather has been cool enough the last two days, I've been able to back off of "extra watering", which has given me a little time to get caught up on some pictures.

The first day that the temps stayed below 95 deg, I finally had a helper come out to join me.

I have picked up a couple of Echie 'green envy' for myself and a couple for my sister, this one has larger petals than all of the others. It's definitely my fav.

O K ALL of you I'll keep the chocolate candy lol
Only because I hate to dig.
Maybe next year when background plants mature It will look better in the group. The other plant in the collection is more wine color like Shellys

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah I think I am liking the green envy

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Lovely helper, redchic.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

RC I think your helper is the elegant type of kitty. No matter what they do they look like the king of the jungle. All the echies are beautiful. TS is on the ever growing list for next year.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Beautiful pics, Shelly. I love the echis.

Thomaston, CT

Glad you had a nice vacation, Karen! My next vacation is a few minutes from Jo Ann's---I'll see the candy lily in person! Shelley, Precious is so beautiful...I'd love a cat like that, but my 2 dogs would not. The echies seemed to have done well in the heat, but I'm glad temps have cooled off.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice shots, Shelly. Nice colors on those echies. Great kitty shot!

One more of Peppermint Schnapps.

Victor that is so pretty. When does that start blooming for you and do the flowers last a good length of time?
