Garden Photo's 09.....#38

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Pat. Just started a few days ago. This is only the second full year so I will get a better sense of duration this time.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the info Victor. Do you also still have 'Kopper King' or was that someone else? Does that bloom at the same time? I wish these bloomed a little earlier but they are certainly worth waiting for, I might have to get one again. And do the deer leave them alone too?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I have KK too and love it. Huge blooms. Deer don't seem to bother the hibiscus, but caterpillars do. Have to use BT on them.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, I'm really liking that hibiscus. Will have to put on my wish list.

Thanks all. And Precious says thanks to all! really! she's very good with gestures.

Ngam... I will have to find (maybe easier to just take one) a picture of Precious in, what I call, her 'lion pose'. The family ties are very obvious.

Robin... Hurray for the echies!! they are really the only plant that was in bloom during that heat wave, where the blooms didn't take a dive or dry on the plant. All of them did bleach out, or maybe they blanched since they were getting a lot of water, but they held on! As soon as the 100 deg days ended, they all started to set new flowers.

Great hibiscus victor.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Celeste, I love all your lilies and phlox, and that Stolen Treasure DL is really gorgeous.

Weather was great today for gardening. Just right. But I could smell fall in the air. Oooo, I said a dirty word!!!!! Yikes!

Thank you both. Tea Clipper is beautiful!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Pixie... I love that noid Dahlia!

Wc2....tea clipper is pretty. Sorry to have you hooked on another plant. At least it's an easy, fairly tough, and reliable plant to be hooked on!

Pensacola..... illustris certainly fits.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes it does the person whom I got that plant from gave me the name.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Allison - sure - I'll try a cutting if you can spare a snip! Thanks!

Thomaston, CT

Didn't know phlox came in such a gorgeous red----do you remember where you got it Pixie? Also love the MG---Pensc--glad you have a name for your EEs----mine is just plain, but it's my first one, & I'm liking it. Here's a nice full phlox---many are kind of scrawny this summer....

Marilyn, that Gold Band lily is great! I'm really liking everyone's lilies. I bought a bunch this year. Getting into them more. Hate battling the lily beetle, though, and I had botrytis on a number of them this year, too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice shots all... Pixie love your noid dahlia!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Well you have been very busy again all of you haven't you. All really nice. Pixie the lilies, DLs and phlox are really nice. I need to find a spot for some red phlox I think.
WC love that DA rose. Most of mine are gone, love the flowers, hate the blackspot and fight with all the bugs.
Allison what a wonderful batch of pics. I really like the BF, bird and critter shots. It is so much fun to watch what lengths a squirrel will go to to get a free meal. Beautiful begonias too.

ooooh, pretty color, Pensacola!!

Marilyn - love the color of that phlox and the Rambler.

I spent the morning out there cutting off hosta stems and daylily stalks that had all gone by. Then I pulled a ton of weeds out of the "island" area that is now "showcased" by the new circular drive. It wasn't as noticeable a mess before, so I just had to get out there and start to tame it. I heard Hank telling the driveway guy, "Uh oh, Louise now has a lot of excuses to make new gardens!" LOL....I guess he knows me pretty well!!! I can't even take care of the ones I have already, but oh well!! (Snicker)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks Ngam... it is fun to watch the critters on nice mornings.. pretty gerbera Pensa!
