There seem to be many DGers who love frogs, toads and other amphibians.
For those on dial-up, perhaps a new thread is in order. And what better way
to spread the good word about frogs and toads? :-)
Post your hoppity little darlings here, please?
KM
For the love of amphibians!
Beahive -- if I could be reincarnated, I'd want to be a frog lucky enough to live in your pond. They all looks so happy and healthy, and are so very photogenic!
Thanks JlJ.. Plenty of room the more the merrier!
This may be a silly question, but what happens to a tadpole's tail once they get their legs? Does it shrivel up and "get sucked into it's body", does it fall off? I just thought about that looking at your last picture.
It gets hidden away in their body. They will have a little nub once they are old enough to go on land and it finally just becomes a bum!
You always have the bestest frog pics, Bea. Your frogs are supermodels! :)
I quite enjoyed your "glamour shot" pony! :)
I hope to write a book one day using their photos or maybe just a coffee table book of photo's. Will see what the future brings.
What a cute shot! :D
Heehee. Water Hyacinth makes a great parasol! Great photos as always, Bea. :)
I'm an urban gardener who has set up a pond, not still water. Has a "bubbler" and next year a waterfall. I want frogs & toads but haven't a clue where to obtain "starters". I do not want to remove them from their wildlife habitat. Is there an online source for these critters?
This place sells tadpoles not sure what species they are. You may wish to ask so they will not eat any local frogs. How long has your pond been in? Give it time the locals most likely will come.

I purchased bullfrog tadpoles from my local nursery, but we also had 3 bullfrogs just show up one day last summer, and they returned again this year. You know the expression -- if you build it, they will come! :)
WUVIE: Feed that frog something-he's anorexic! LOL!
Good Gosh, Im gonna have to start packing a camera around outside with me.. Mine all roam free. lol.. Hop Hop Here and and a Hop HOP there, they are everywhere at times..
