Garden Photo's 09.....#37
What a beautiful color blue. And the lady bug, can't have too many of them in the garden. Wow the size and color of that lily I bet makes it a stand out in the garden.
'Sunset Pride'.This DL has been blooming since the first week in July. It still has many buds to open. Getting a pic that captures the faint dark blue streaks is difficult. It is becoming one of my favs.
Nice JoAnn. Is that crocosmia 'Lucifer'? I had a different orange one but it didn't return the following spring. Thought maybe the red one would be better and worth a try. Does the candy lily bloom for very long for you? It looks nice and healthy.
candy lily is like a daylily blooms last 1 day.
I believe that is lucifer, the variety that wont let you down. those were tossed for not bloominf somewhere else
We are haveing the lousy weather most are having in the east.
Its the kind of humid sprinkly day I just want to curl up in front of a Victor Mature movie
You know the ones - - guys in short pleated skirts with lots of leather? Tales of roman wars - - - You know the ones
I will accompany that with a pint of something cold and creamy that containds praline and caramel, maybe topped with peanut butter.
ngam im not big on doubles but Francis Joiner is one pretty daylily!
Love the echinacias and butterflies! Your lillies are amazing Celeste! Ruffled Dimity is a lilly?

Phoebes, I have had a lot of practice shooting a camera and I still have troubles!! Though, with the new camera I just got myself for my birthday (next week) will help a lot, I bet!!!
The problem here is the contrast it too deep. A dark, dark flower with a bright, bright background makes the camera's automatic metering programs go bonkers.
Most of the shots of the Dahlia 'Arabian Knights' came out like this one .... not like the one I posted above.
Thanks for the hint! I noticed the light background on mine also--but did not understand the impact.
Nice pics, ge.
Jo Ann whats the name of the daylily in your photo's? I think that Candy Lily stands out nicely and they are very unique looking.
Sounds very yummy JoAnn. I know the movies you are referring to, lots of longing looks and dreamy eyes in them too. LOL
Ya I agree Pixie. Most doubles just don't do it for me either. She is like 'Indian Giver', never takes a bad pic.
Pixi
The DL is a spider 40 inches tall and loaded w/ buds, some leaning of course.
The name is Red Thrill. It was sent by B&D LILies as a bonus for a mistake somewhere else.
All these great pics makes me realize I need to plant more flowers.
ngam: Remember those movies?
Now that I'm critical of fine details I wonder how the women ( Susan Hayward usually, once Maureen O'Hara) never looked as sweaty as the men.
Dresses clean and tight not a blotch under the arms.
YET the men were steaming.
Just dont get it ha ha
Ha! I remember those movies! And my Mother never clued me in! Don't ever remember seeing her break a sweat either! LOL!
Love the feminist movment.
It did wonders for my complection.
let's not start burning clothes now!
Never did that.
Marched bare topped in 1973.
Stopped being my worst enemy in 1964
Oh ya not one hair out of place, no smudges of make-up or a wrinkled toga in sight. LOL Did you ever notice though in those movies that the big strong he-men always thought they were in charge it was always the ladies that called the shots. Sometimes got them in a bit of trouble for doing the lady's bidding too. :)
What a lovely specimen of JoAnneii you have blooming there, JoAnn
how cool are you Willie!!!... yes I would like some Britt Marie .... please!!!!!
love that green envy too Bill!!
I don't believe I have seen any of these films of which you speak .... I'll have to keep my eye out and see what all the bubbles are about.
I have planned to send out some packages on Sunday (24/7 Post Office) so they don't sit anywhere over the weekend.
I will definitely send you some Britt (and britt to Debi), and the jade and begonia.
And, Jen's jades, too! Also, I am with ya, Jen!! I need MANY more flowers.
Between Bill, or Victor, or Patti, or Celeste, or .... well .... so many of all y'all around these threads, I don't know which plants to get first!
Well, I made up my mind and decided on TINOS as the first to start me off ....
See it Here:

Imagine my HUGE disappointment when THIS opened up! They look horrible next to the StarGazers! UGH!
Though, in all fairness, I kind of like them anyway.
Oh I hate that when a flower isn't what you were thinking you were getting but those squash sure look like a success. Yum! That seaholly is lovely, is it a dwarf one? I am waiting on mine to color up. Lots of buds. Sure is pretty.
