Containers 2009 #2
Luv the coleus!!!
I have grown electric lime for 3 years, now. What a sturdy Coleus! Really pops with white or yellow or both. This time, I'll get cuttings before I am caught off-guard by the weather.
I am so pleased with the selections I received from the coleus co-op (Rosy Dawn). All were slow to establish, but have performed well in full sun. We had a heat wave last week, and all of them did surprisingly well.
I thought coleus liked heat???
They do, but i don't think they like the dry heat as much. We tend to have a dryer heat, here, WHEN we have anything that resembles Heat. I grew them in Hawaii - filtered afternoon sun is best for that climate. Here - all we get is that slanted heat from being so far north.
Similar to Calgary, but lower elevation. sorta...hey bring some sun with you, DNut!
All my coleus are from The RD co-op.
I just loved them.
Pretty pots everyone. Love the kitchen door planter and so understand the slug wars this year. The teacups are so cute and the electric lime is a wowzer as is the nice dark coleus. All really nice. I only have one pot I planted with annuals this year and it kinda sat there and did nothing for the longest time. I guess it was the cool cloudy first half of summer but now they are finally spreading out. Aside from a couple of holes from hail the coleus is finally looking happy in the part sun location.

DRAT! I ONLY have dry heat. Maybe I will put the fancy/dancy mister attachment on the hose and mist them every once in awhile next year. I'm hoping to bring beams with me Kayte (even if it's just my beamy face ^_^)
Wow! How the heck did I miss a thread like this one??!!! I'm just wild about all of your pots, Allison....what beautiful combos you make up! You could go into business there with your own plant stand of container gardens!
JoAnn - I like that electric lime too! I wish I didn't love the coleus so much! Mine make the trip back and forth well though, and I do need to find some different colors than the ones I have....the limes are next on my list!
Great thread!!
Dahlia - it may be cheating, but it's soooooo purty!!!

Lovely combo, Joann.
Great Combination Joann. You have a good eye for color combos.
Allison that Gays Delight is doing well. You're a good coleus mom☺
thnx jada
Jadajoy - what beauties you have on your deck to enjoy! I love your contrasts!
Allison - I'd love a couple of lime cuttings if you have any you can bring to my RU!! Hank will probably kill me, since we have to transport them with us to Fla. LOL I love mixing my coleus with my caladiums down there. That Giant Exhibition Limelight is stunning!
JoAnn - very pretty combo!
Like impatiens, coleus are really enjoying this damp, cool spring, I mean to say 'summer' we've been having. I see impatiens all over the place in commercial plantings, why not coleus there too? And, I love EVERYTHING in a blue pot!
sorry for the confusion the photo was of gay's delight... the GEL is in this photo

middle tea pot back right side... and I will add those to my list Louise
Yippee, Allison! Thanks!!
hello Lisabeth!.... very nice!!.. what is the plant on the left?
Just beautiful, Lisabeth
Thank you, the plant on the left is Nasturtium 'Alaska'. 'Midnight Rose' Heuchera on the right with a dark leaved Begonia with orange flowers and red double bud impatiens behind. Last year I did all pastels and it was rather bland and the hot colors are much preferred by my family this year.
Gorgeous!
Luv the variegated nastie!!! MUST HAVE.
I love 'Alaska' and 'Peach Melba' also. beautiful container!
Martha
Lovely!
