I wish I could get all the items for the recipe! I can't find kelp here? Where can I finf the kelp, or is there a substitute?

A Note: Measure out really hot tap water and dissolve the Epsom Salt in it first - LOL!

Originally kenboy posted this one:

LK, I can't find Kelp around here. But the recipe I sometimes use, calls for powdered Kelp. Maybe you could sub it for powder?

Good afternoon everyone, Jaye you can get kelp from Gardens Alive, I think they have a website, they're in Lawerence Burg Ind. the recipe I have is
2 cups water
1-12oz can Beer
!/2 cup househld ammonia
1 Cup epsom salts
1/4Cup unsulphured molasses
1/4Cup liquid seaweed ( Kelp)
I hope this helps,
with just the epsom salts they have directions on the bag, I just usually put it in the sprayer, that connects to my hose then water till it's all gone, I spray it on everythig, my lawn loves it

Thanks Jaye.

Elizabeth, you were right, you slept in until noon. The phone woke me up this morning.I still feel tired though.LOL

Epsom salts are good for Everything EXCEPT sage. Apparently, according to the epsom salts site, sage doesn't like it......

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't have boltcutters and don't have access to any, a hammer is a good idea but might bend the end of my hose, I can use it like it is but it leaks water all over me and I end up just as soaked as the plants I'm watering.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm learning a lot from all of your recipes! I have an acre and I'm not spraying the whole thing either. Maybe if I could attach something to my rider lawnmower...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha crissy - I was KIDDING - don't take destructive things to your poor hose....... roflmfbo!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Crissy try a good adjustable wrench. Might need Dave to do it if he has good hand strength.

I used to get Kelpman fertilizer, but it is from Canada and now seems to be hard to get. LK there are lots of liquid kelp or seaweed ferts. out there. Maxicrop is one I think.

Jaye I haven't been using any vitamins on anything. Just all kinds of liquid concoctions. Just bought something called :Sea Magic" (I think) from Burpees. It is powdered and you mix it with water then use that concentrate and dilute it. I think I like it. Had to order some carrots and beet seeds for the experimental Fall planting I'm trying, so while I was at Burpees I got it. Tried Spray n Grow. Not sure it did a lot. I don;t like it because it wants you to use warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. That's a pain in the butt for me. Especially on a job.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Juanita - is this where you used to get Kelpman fertilizer?
www.kelpman.com/index_files/kelp%20fertilizer.htm

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan, why not?????

Ooooo I can't go to Burpee's website, I've been grounded.

Coushatta, LA

Well ladies,i am off so take care and enjoy.Later Gators

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Burpee's? for tomatoes? hmmmmmmm who dast disallow fair lady to go to the site?

why not? hmmmmm well, fairies may not like you stopping watering their fav things in the whole wide world - flowers & other green stuff!! tsk tsk tsk and you would have to do that if you damaged your poor innocent, defenceless hose, just cuz the wand doesn't work properly!
I have a wand I could send you lol it's a rain head that my DH decided I needed to have. I'm an old fashioned type of gal, and what works I don't replace or add to. He thinks every year that a new 'toy' comes out, that I have to have it.
He also wants me to use his old construction gloves for gardening, passes his extra tools to me, and shirts, etc. Pretty soon (if I were 6'3" and thin) I'd look like him (mini-me?) roflmfbo.
Men & their toys, eh?!?!?!!!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

At least you get them, Dave uses something til it breaks 20 times and when he realizes it can't be fixed again complains that he has to spend money to get a new one.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha not my Bob - if he can 3x of something tool-like, he WILL lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

He gets mad if I go buy something to wear or something for my garden. He does let me go wherever I want to go and visit whoever I want to visit.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

This is good!
You've only been married 3 years, right? Wait until it's 10 or more, then he'll relax a bit, I'm sure. That'll give you time to understand each other's spending habits lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

In 10 years he's going to be 58, I'm going to be 46, I hope we figure it out by then LOL

Coushatta, LA

Crissy,at one point all men are like that until they reach that age where they are mellow out.Plus when they work all the time like that they stay more stressed out and it makes you not want to be around them.

I don't think Dave will ever mellow out, he has more energy than BettyPauze. He's way high strung.

Coushatta, LA

You will be surprise at how men can be once they get older.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!! They are men, I do have to remember that. They're just men.

Coushatta, LA

Once Dave,is able to retire, you will see the change.I know i did in my dad.He did not like to spend money, but oh boy does he now.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Elizabeth , one of your pictures way up the thread looks like a white triple. Was it? What ever it was, it's beautiful.

Deborah

Hamilton, OH

Cordele
that's Miss B havin, it looks like it has a triple Bloom on right now, that Pic is just a double, last year it had 1 triple the rest were doubles, that one came from seed sprout nursery, for some reason their web site has been down forever
I don't know if Brenda Delph will ever sell Brugs again I sure do hope so, I am glad you like her

Elizabeth

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Did you staert her from seed or a cutting?

Hamilton, OH

Deborah
I am sorry, I did your name wrong, I bought it as a plant, I do have some seedlings from seed, I will have to look on my list, as I have many, they are easier than I thought from seed though
Elizabeth

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

My Brugs are just starting to bloom now. But I've never seen any seed pods.

Hamilton, OH

Deborah
Cody can tell you about seedpods, she has some right now, I have never cross pollinated either, maybe someday, you have to get to the bloom before the bees & moth's do in order to get seedpods, Cody has been telling me how easy it is, she is a sweetheart, I would love to see your Brugs

Elizabeth

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth that is a gorgeous brug!!!! I need some orange. I have a Peach Suaveolens (sp.), but everything else is pink. A body can only do so much pink. :0)

Susan in Canada that is the site I used for the fertilizer. Also got it sometimes from the person I buy my sprouting seeds from. He said it got way too expensive to ship.

Juanita

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Rain followed us all the way coming home. Thank God the windshield wipers work. Was thinking of you Trisha. Hope you had some sprinkling to break that heat.

Seems we like the same brugs, Elizabeth. I love Versi Orange too. The blooms were so pendulous last year, measuring beyond 1 ft. Yah too bad, Brenda quit. She's definitely one trustworthy seller.
I won't recommend anyone to buy anything off eBay, unless you know the sellers are members of DG.

Got you down for 'orange cuttings' in the fall Juanita. Checked Park's for Sea Magic.. it's sold out. Will be getting from Burpees. Anything easy and works, will be the best for me :D

Ooops.. lightning and thunder....will have to get off the pc till this is over.
CYA'LL later!

Hamilton, OH

Juanita
thank you, I agree with you, you can only have too much pink, velvet rose is a dark pink but not as dark as I wanted do you new orleans lady?, that one is a beautiful shade of apricot

Elizabeth

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hello Everyone,

Geez all this talk about Brugs. I think I have maybe 15, most of them are duplicates. Jaye had sent me about 8 cuttings last year but only a couple of them made it. And of course I lost the lables off of them when I moved. They are all under 4 feet tall and no buds. So hopefully come fall them will bloom.

I haven't been on much. Mom's pc is really slow because she installed some games. I need to call a friend and have him put some more memory in it. I was supposed to be hooked up to sattelite internet yesterday, but there is a tree in the way so I have to cut it down. SIL and I will be doing that Sunday so then the guy will be back at 8 am Monday to finish.

HAPPY BELATED BITHDAY, JAYE

And Hello to the newbie Elizabeth. you will find out that this is a great bunch of ladies to chat with. I have not had the pleasure to meet any of them yet but hope to in the future. i probably won't be getting back on again until Monday. Have a wedding to attend tomarrow. It is on a beach and we get to wear shorts. How cool is that. And the weather will be perfect in the low 90's. Then Sunday will be busy with cutting down trees and cleaning up the mess.

Love Ya All,

TTYL ^_^
Cindy }!{

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hiya Cindy - so you go from being a beauty (wedding) to being a beast (all covered in tree clippings and leaves, etc etc) lol
Boy - wished I had before & after pics of both LOL

Hey Cindy - you know I'm just havin' fun with ya, right? *grin*
