You cage your brugs? Were they bad? I'd send them to the corner if that were the case - "Baaaaaaaad brugs - time out until you give me some healthy blooms!!"
Linda Kay
I left a small Brug in the ground mulched it, it died, so I just take them in, yes I do cut back I leave aY, so they bloom sooner in the spring
Crissyr
how often do you feed them, if it doesn't rain for a whole week I water every day, & twice a week I use miracle grow to
foiler feed them, then once a month I use epsom salts, it greens up everything, my tallest is 7ft Frosty Pink, it blooms white then turns pink, I have 5 huge Frosty pinks I have to find homes for before the season is over
Elizabeth
Elizabeth Its so nice to meet you.. And thank you thank you for letting me know angels will grow here.. I have so been missing mine since we moved from Florida and now that I know they will flourish here Im gonna be on the hunt for some.. Glad to have another Ohian here to chat along..
Crissy yours look very happy.. Do you make wine from your grape vine?
Jaye love the panda its sooo cute..
Huggs
Donna
Please tell me what foiler feed is? If you want cactus, I can send you all you want. it grows wild here. We have several kinds of prickly pear, and yucca's, agave plants (century plants)...
Elizabeth I love my Frosti Pinks. They are the first to bloom for me and I have one now that is pushing over 25 buds. It will be awesome when it pops! Can't imagine bringing in 75 of them though. I have about 15 and that is a challenge. I try to keep mine dormant over the winter. Otherwise they end up with mites and aphids and just drop leaves all over the place.
Juanita
Donna--I will send you some cuttings towards the fall when I trim back---NOT as big as the ones you got last time tho!!! LOL!!!
ahhhhh Jax, FL - loved it when I visited there, Mistressgardenr.....
Last time I was there with my DH, we went to Cumberland Island, just north of you (GA) and we loved it too!
Ladybarber101
where is lancaster, I have heard of it, but not sure how far you are from me, if it's a short drive come get you a 5ft Frosty
pink, I have been growing them since 2001, foiler feed is when you put miracle grow in the plastic container that connects to your water hose, then spray them until it's all gone, then at least once a month during the growing season
you use epsom salts, that green up everything esp. your lawn, as for clippings, I cut back the canopy, usually it's the middle of October, but this year it will be the end of September
Elizabeth
Am back! Just got home, had to go out of town today. Poor babies act as though we have left them for days!!
Crissy, we ate some Chilli Relleno for you;)
Downloading the link now, Trisha. Cincinnati Slim.. is he performing in France now? Many blues and jazz singers make a living there.
OMG Elizabeth!!! 75 pots to be hauling around..... I've already cut back my collection of brugs!! Just concentrating on certain triples--- no more pinks for sure, be they double or triples!!
75 Elizabeth? All in pots? I admire your tenacity! At least your zone don't keep you back from your passion.
LK, foliar feeding is feeding micronutrients to your brugs through the leaves. You can use epsom salt or kelp too if you can't find a 'recipe'.
Btw, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful Eagle!
Kel wanted to start an Eagle collection, and this is our first. Love you too too much!!
Yah, C_Susan, you'd be taking some shears to your brugs if they don't bloom for you this year!! Patience my sistah. Wish you're in the GRAND ole USA, you'll certainly get some cuttings from me.
How about that Donna and Cookie, another Ohioan!! So that means I'll get to see you at Cookie's next year!!
Linda... how many brugs do you have?? I know Cody's turning into a brug addict too!
I've learnt to relax with these brugs! First year, I was like an expectant mother with my first child! I get paranoid so fast, panic at the slightest curling or yellowing of a leaf and worst, when it starts to bud.. I'd be out there with a flashlight checking for start of bloom.
Elizabeth, you certainly have the heart of a sistah!!! Proud to call you one!
So generous.. a 5 ft. brug!!
Welcome Elizabeth. Passing through again as I thought I had tomorrow off from baby sitting--wrong!!! I really need to get my beauty sleep (actually energy restored) or I will never keep up with those 2 tomorrow. I wish I could bottle their energy and sell it!!!
Jaye, I am glad you had a good seafood dinner. I am still really afraid to eat seafood after my episode last March.
Off to beddy bye.
Maid M., sleep well. One more day.. and you can rest the weekend.
Trisha, Cincinnati Slim reminds me of Paul Butterfield. Thank you for the video. Blues is one of my favorite music genres.
Jaye, KC (Cincinnati Slim) and his ex used to work for Bill....they got a divorce and she married her childhood sweetheart, we went back to his ex, a girl from France and they recently moved to France....don't for sure what he is doing these days, but his is still a good musician....and I think they are both with the correct persons now....
Heavenscent
Hi, I have most of mine in the ground, I have seedling crosses in pots, in september, I will offer clippings for postage
my Angel exotic bloomed one triple, I think it was because it only had 1 bloom, since then it's only been doubles
year before last I donated 3 huge Brugs over 7ft to the Khron conservatory, they featured them in thier summer sale,
then last year I had too many so Miami University got 3 huge one's
so if anyone can come pick one up they're welcome to a huge Frosty pink
abbisgrama
I like that name, I am sorry you don't have the day off
Elizabeth
Elizabeth thats very swet of you to offer but right now is a bit to far of a trip for our ttruck and budjet.. Maps says you are 125 miles about 2 ours and 10 minutes away. I wih you were closer because I woul dbe setting up a date to come over. We are outside of columbus by about 30 minutes on a good day.
Well I better get .. Gotta work in teh morning.. .

Donna
Hehehehe... Elizabeth... you're the third person to call me "Heavenscent". Think she lives in Louisiana. I'm "Heavenscape" but call me Jaye.
I do cuttings, but can't germinate seeds.. gave that up!! We can certainly crown you the queen of brugs!
Trisha, I hope he continues with his passion there in France. There's a big blues following in Paris.
Hi Jaye
I will have a ton of cuttings, the seeds used to drive me crazy, but once you soak & peel the cork off they're pretty easy to germinate, but getting my Brugs to have a seedpod is another story
Elizabeth
Did that for 2 years, Elizabeth.. soak the seeds for days, meticulously peeling their corks off.. check for guidelines on ehem.. can't mention the sources here.. (other sites) and during those 2 years, umpteen packets of seeds.. biodomes.. only 2 made it. One per year :D
Sorry to those that have given me seeds.. I have tried.
Kel says... just buy them grown!!
Now, Cody's becoming the expert at cross breeding them!
I have 34 brugs. Lets hope this heat does not take anymore. I have only lost 2 so far, but they were little ones, so I can't complain. One was cotton candy, and the other was pink velvet.
Oh I would love to have more brugs, I just don't have any more room right now to place them! Maybe next spring, I can convince hubby to build another garden?
Jaye glad you got the eagle. I saw that with the flag, and thought you may like it? Happy Birthday again!
See you all in the morning.
Hey Jaye....I have only breed two so far.By the way my N.O.L has a bud on it.I'm so happy.

Jaye
Cody is a sweetheart, she kept telling me how easy it was to post pic's she walked me through it, yes she is becoming an expert at cross breeding them
Elizabeth
(psssst... Cody's our future Brug queen!)
Yep, so glad that she told you of this room Elizabeth.
Now Cody, you'll be making a path to that NOL every night, checking that bud!!
LK, I have all the room, but not enough shade!!! That's why I'm cutting back!
I'm heading for bed, and here's Kel blasting "Ophelia".. that should be a brug's name!!
Good night everyone. Again, it's been a beautiful b'day and I'm still celebrating. God is great ;)
LOL!!!!!!!JAYE,YES I WILL.GOOD NIGHT LOVE YA.......SLEEP WELL.....
Thanks Elizabeth,you are so sweet.
One question, Jaye - What do you mean I'll be cutting down my brugs?
If there's one thing I have about flowers, it's patience.
Some of the people @ our church thought my small perennials were too small, so they dug them up and put others in. I figure, plant small, they naturalize in, then will be hardier next year. I'm ok with planting annuals for pretty, until the perennials come in.
Some aren't quite so patient lol
Every year I grow new Daturas, then they die off due to the winter. But they come back the next year - thanks to self-seeding lol
btw - I've got to find a large quantity of epsom salts lol dunno where to start looking!!
Have a good night all....cooling down, may get ot sleep tonight!!
Good night Cody...
I'm not the only night owl.Elizabeth is a night owl too.
I have about 89 different varieties of brugs now. Lots of new doubles/triples this year. I lost quite a few really nice ones this past winter, but have been slowly replacing them. I have quite a few brugs blooming but none of the doubles yet. Waiting patiently tho!
Good Gracious!
Hello Sistah'sAll,
OMG...Jaye. Sending you Giant Armwraps and wishing you a Belated Birthday. I see by the posts you were well loved, big smiles for that. I hope on the home front you were well loved too, Tho don't know anyone who can love you up more then Big lovable Kel. Give hiom an armwrap too.
Sorry to have gone into lurking mode and disappearance, Things are insanely busy...ROFLOL, do you notice the time of my post?
Now you know I am getting anxious...Lizrainey and DH arrive on Sunday, so have been working like mad to make my house presentable!
Well, mostly working on the my Jungles...yesterday worked from 6:30AM to around 8PM with only a few breaks and a beer in the midlle of the day, lol...Weather has been very comfortable to work in, unbeleivable for here, but I am just loving it...
LOL, nothing like waiting to last minute to get anything done, gotta love a challange...Ah but then it rained, I mean poured, so in I came...Thought I might lay down and watch tv...HA, watched with my eyes closed and heard notta....lol now I am wide a wake.
Well, I have to admit, I play with Skittles way to much, boy, she is just too much fun...lolol she calls "me" pretty bird! She says hello too.
She is trying to figure out some others as well, but I haven't heard...We let her loose in the Screen house, she just love to chat with the other birds and continues to love to roll around the screens. LOL Her best friend is the Porcelin bird I received from the windchime swap.
I have taught her to Come Here, she does when she is calm, but like any baby never listens when she is set free at first. Of course we have to have play time and tickle time...I am going to flip if she picks up giggling...
So...Jaye, so sorry I didn't post on your actual birthday...But i still love you today and this day is special too, beside people should celebrate for a month, lol I do...
I also think of all of you Sistahs, hOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL AND ENJOYING THE SUMMER....oops, not yelling caps went on!
So heres a cup of coffee, nice and hot, Ive...milk or creamer stuff...Tea? Iam thinking omelets this AM.
Have a marvelous day/wink.
Judy
Morning everyone! T.G.I.F.!
Judy, I bet your place is ready for company at any time? Hope you havea great visit! Thanks for the breakfast!
Elizabeth, can you give me directions for the use of epsom salts on the plants please? I have never heard of that either. Geesh, so much to learn! I do feed them miracle grow once a week, and when they are blooming twice a week, but I don't have one of those hose things. I just mix it in gallon jugs and pour it on! That take awhile when you have 30+ plants. I can't imagine having 70+ WOW! I may go and look for one that attaches to the hose, that will be easier!
Hope you all have a wonderfull week-end!
Talk to you all later.
Morning Everyone!!! TGIF!!!
Susan, I put tomato cages on them to keep Dave from them and to make them grow straight, they were pretty crooked when I put them in the ground. Dave's a gardener but lets the weed eater get out of control.
Like I said, that picture was taken the end of June so they're a lot taller now, but there's something eating them. I sprayed them for bugs but then we got all these rains so the spray did nothing. I feed them when the leaves start turning lighter green. And they will be left in the ground, I don't have any place in the house to put them. I planted them in April so they should be rooted enough to come back. I have mulch I'm going to put on the ground when it starts getting cold.
This is sad and it's bothering me. Ms. Cheerful has a 4 year old granddaughter who 'thinks she's a princess.' Ms. Cheerful keeps telling her she's not. Why would you tell your 4 year old granddaughter she's not a princess??
LK I use the "Recipe" on my brugs. On everything else for that matter. It has epsom salts in it as well as lots of other goodies. Bought a 1 quart hand sprayer and I mix it in there. It works great and is fast.
Me and hoses don't get along. :))
Last year I bought from HD one of those wands that you can extend and it moves in all different directions and has 20 different water settings, well it started leaking so I tried to take it off to replace the little washer and it's stripped and I can't get it off my hose! I don't know what to do, how do I get that thing off my hose??
Have you tried bolt cutters? lol
How about a hammer???
Good day everyone!
Thanks Judy for the birthday armwrap! Yep, you met Kel.. I cannot replace him for all the tea in China! Like I've said before, you've hugged me, so, pass on that DNA to Liz, Betty and Debbie. You all are so lucky!
Linda.. 83?? But then you're in Florida, so everyone of them should be inground. I can't imagine the number of cuttings this fall. So Linda, do you have any special 'recipe'?
Juanita, do you add liquid vitamins to your recipe? I'm trying out this year with B1.
All this talk about Brugs will drive me insane!!! No.. not going to be obsessive on them again.. Right LK? Is it working??
Lolol!!
Crissy, either you save the poor child or ignore Ms. Cheerful. Seems to me Ms. Cheerful needs a good Positive Thinking book!!!
Jeez, C_Susan.. a hammer?
hahahaha funning!
Way I figure it is - if it's Broke, Fix It, but Good!!! LOL
Can't use it the way you have it, so............ lol
