Good morning ladies.
How about a simple breakfast today. Juice and cut up fresh fruits with cottage cheese.
The moment I woke Kel up from the recliner to send him to bed last night, the lights went out! Talk about 'groping' in pitch black!
Anyway.. Miss Kimmie (Dimmer) needs help this morning.
You gifted decorators, artists... please suggest as to how she can brighten up her front porch.
Brought over her pic.
Kim, you have calla lily blooming? Too hot for that here! Good luck in eradicating mealy bug infestation.
Brought over Juanita's post.

Good Morning!
Been AWOL trying to keep up with things at home. Had to laugh at you Jaye about stripping to the waist and being in the country. Same thing here. I love the privacy. Couldn't go back to being in a neighborhood. We don't even have drapes here. The people that had the house before us didn't and it just didn't seem necessary. Since I am a little claustraphobic it is nice to not have that closed in feeling.
We finally had rain. Lots of it. About 2 inches in 2 days in pour down and hail mode. Really destroyed the infamous driveway. Guess I will be out shoveling gravel later today.
Gotta run, it is weeding day for clients and I am already way behind because I am still here. :0)
Juanita
Hehehe.. don't run Juanita.. the weed will still be there! Rain expected again today here too.
BJ, are you through with the seats?
Got fabric to cut and sew.. steaks to marinade.. veges to prep. Clothes that need attention!
Hope your day won't be a harried one!
Got this from Barb.. thought I'd post it here. This is brilliant.
Put your car keys beside your bed at night
Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check- out girl at the market, everyone you run across..
Put your car keys beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator.
Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation.
Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.
It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.
After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.
This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime...
Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone.
My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.
Good Message, Jaye! My mom doesn't have a car though, so no car alarm :-)
Kim - who's that slim woman taking the pic of the porch? hmmmmm must be YOU, young lady - pretty green top!
I'll put my thinking cap on, and see what I can come up with.
One thing I can think of right now - as it's enclosed and not so affected by the weather, you can tack or velcro up some fabric and it's changeable to another colour, as the seasons and your mood changes. Perhaps a picture at the end, or a Wecome Sign, drawing people to the friendliness of your home :-)
You could also stencil something, as you please.
-Susan -
Morning everyone!!!!!!
Good Morning, Cody & Everyone!!!
♫♪♪♫
Hi Susan.....
It's spitting a little rain, but they promise Thunderstorms this aft! hmmmmmm not sure if I want rain, or not.......don't want to get caught in it, and don't want the plants damaged, but could sure use the rain (always!).
Morning everyone. Jaye thanks for the new room, and for breakfast!
Dr. app. cancelled again, till this afternoon. Maybe someday i will get these stitches out!
Supposed to be 104 here today. UGHHH!!!! We NEED rain!
Kim, glad to see you. Sorry to hear you have mealy bugs. I have them too, and so far the soap spray is taking care of them. They are ugly little bugs! I am using Bj's recipe. Orange soap, vinegar, and amonia. Thanks for the recipe Bj.
Waiting to see the finished seats!
See you all later
YIKES, LK - 104?!?!?!?!?!?! omg - heard just sitting in a cool bath helps..... but who wants to be out of their garden that long, and become a PRUNE lol
It has been more than 100, for more than a month now, and we all have had enough!
Send some rain this way please?
Your wish is my command, dear LK - there's a song we sign at church called "It's beginning to rain, hear the voice of the Father" - I'll sing it quietly for you (I AM @ work, after all lol)
Maybe I could ask my boss (from Waco TX) to bring some the next time he goes home....he was in Georgia this w/e for a family reunion.......
Thanks Susan. Anything is appreciated dearly!
You're quite welcome, dear lady - can't have you parched.......
Kim, that is looking good! I think you can fir a few more in there also! maybe a small wicker table or something? Maybe a garden statue, frog, angel, flamingo???
I don't know if that can be used on houseplants.
Bj, help out Kim here please?
Sista's I'm 3 pages behind. I tell ya the truth, not having a monitor on my computer stinks.! I'm using Larry's in his office but really this office is off limits (somewhat) for me. He wants nothing touched, moved or rearranged. But, he wants me to dust and vacuum. It's a pain to use his computer. Not my comfort zone for sure. Anyway, that's my excuse for being only a now and then drop in on this thread. I love you all so much!
Here's some recent pics of Riley at 3 months. Love your babies too, Cookie!
Kim, it's starting to look 'warm' already.
LK may be on to something there. How about one of those semi round tables ... maybe a beautiful sconce on the side.
Bless you granma Debbie!! Riley looks like a happy baby! She must have your temperament.. easy to be around with.
So, have you been using your sewing machine lately, if you can't get to the pc? And don't forget to brag on your accomplishment that you are still smoke free!
Riley is growing so fast! Wow, 3 months already? She is such a precious one! Give her hugs from all of us please?

Or a water fountain, Kim! (still thinking..)
Maid M... hope you're still breathing!! :P
Oh Oh - forgot to say - I got a new sewing machine last night!!! :-)
I haven't gotten a new one in ever-so-long.........IF I ever got one. I usually get one lent to me, for an extended time. Right now I'm using my cousin's old one..
Before that, my mom gave me her old one.
this new one is a Brother - has a quilt table, and although it's not expensive ($170 Cdn), it's NEW! It's got 35 stitches and 70 functions.
I think Brother is a good machine. This one seems kinda lightweight though. It says it's for "occassional and beginner sewers" LOL I'm no beginner, but I Am an occassional sewer lol
Think Kim definitely needs to add a big Pink Flamingo on the left !
Riley is soooo Cute!!
Heading back towards 100* today...over 100 tomorrow :(
Had Sean come over and pick up the old wading pool so Sage (and he and Laura for that matter) can at least get wet and stay a little cooler...
Going to try and get a few things done before the heat hits the front windows...
Congrats Susan!! Yayyyy.. you're on your way to be another sistah who quilts!!
Yah, just in time too to sew that apron.
There.. did you feel it Trisha??
I just blew some breeze your way sistah!
Yikes.. 100!! Cool off with some wet cold towels around your neck.
Hi Everyone!! Having quite the day today, got my desk cleaned off yesterday and another project started with a phone call this morning, but I need to ask her a few questions and she's at lunch, so I sit and wait for her to get back.
LOL Susan!
That does look better Kim. Gnomes, you need gnomes!
Be careful those who don't have AC, I know you're in areas that normally don't require it so you're not acclimated to the heat like us here who live in areas of hot summers.
Jaye - I already quilt. I've made one for my cousin, one for my DD's wedding, one for me, one for my DM, a couple for me, and repaired my Grandma's (for my daughter who insists on kicking holes in it! Must be from the 1950's, and the fabric is very delicate - I had to replace much of it.........but kept the "flavour" of the materials....).
Oh geeeze I am forgetting some that I've made.....
I have a humungous quilt frame, too - but nowhere to put it in a trailer lol
My DM & DD got me the workings, and my Dad & I built the frame to put the metal on....
Forgot to say - I have a Lone Star medallion I made. Now, just waiting for the proper finishing of it. I'm one of those people who have the gist of what they want, but have to wait and figure out the finishing lol
My next quilt will be made from pashmina scarves :-)
I don't have space for one giant quilt frame neither, unless I get rid of the furbabies!!!
So, no way I can persuade Kel to get me a longarm next!!!
Don't think I'm that good to 'repair' any quilts, especially antiques. If I'd be asked to fix a 1930's one, most probably I'll be getting the wrong era fabrics.. like the 60's!!
You're lucky. All that quilting heritage from your granma. We don't need quilts in Singapore, so I'm the only fool that quilts!!!!!!!
Mum and grandma were good at freehand embroidery. Now that I avoid!!
Hi Crissy.. anything funny going on at the office?
Pashmina scarves??? Wow.. what a luxurious quilt!!
Hi Jaye, oh yes definitely. Listing to someone (you know who) complain about no retirement, no money to fix her seriously leaking roof, no money to get a window ac in her house, no money to keep her car running, but can buy I-Phones, go on lavish vacations and brag about having money to go, and so on. I was listening to this and she mumbles so I can't understand half of what she says, and she knows this, so she comes over to my desk to tell me when I'm trying to work. Then it dawns on me, she sounds just like Boomour on King of the Hill!
The cost of Pashminas has come down quite a bit.
Some of my quilts were hand sewn, so didn't need a long arm quilter.
I don't know as the arm is very long, either.
I'm just hoping I don't ruin the Pashminas when quilting! There are 5 or 6 scarves, and
when it's made, I have to only have it out when my cat (Baby) isn't allowed on the bed........claws, doncha know?!?!
Thanks Jaye for the new thread!
Susan, so glad to hear that you quilt!
Show us some of your works if you would, Please?
Trisha, you beter sit in that pool yourself! it will help!
Well, I just got back from the knee Dr. and I have no more stitches, but she told me when she opened my knee to fix the simple torn meniscus, she also found that I had a lot of calcium build up, she had to sand off, then she found my knee cap was off to the left, trying to tear off, so she had to try to fix that! Notice I said try. so now I have to wear a brace for the next threes months, and if that does not work, back under the knife... She also said my ACL was torn, so that was repaired.
Don't ya just love all these surprises?
LK
lol Boomhower I Love it .. Crissy I have a neighbor like that. Just rambles on and you dont get half of what they are saying. Sorry you girls make me smile every time!
Sending cool rainy days for those of you in the heat. I remember quite well just how that heat feels and Im so sorry you are all enduring it. Maybe I can send you a cool breze or two. People around here have been talking about thinking we will have an early fall. Was beautiful the last two days but was in the 60's the week before and the crab apple trees are all red already. Its been so long for me I dont know the normal anymore but I have to say I cant wait for fall. Next to spring its my favorite for teh fall leave changes and all teh festivals have already started.
Riley is soo cute. I miss having lil ones around and all my friends kids are bigger too so Im living in your pictures..
Kim on the entrance. I had a few thoughts paint the white trim a light-med brown, Get a deco pot for the manndavilla and a topiary or trellis vine tepee maybe? A small statue in from of the madavilla pot? Maybe a small colorful chime from the bottom of the light.. ne othe rthought if you wanted more privacy you could get the stained glass adhesive and do the windows a bamboo or something along those lines, they sell it at lowes and it just peels off a backing and onto the window.
Still hoping at some point to learn to quilt. Tony and Tristen love the ones they got and still end up laying on the couch with them. Tristen wants another bigger on to put on the back of the futon in the girls room and they all love her horse theme. Tony wants a dragon one made for his bed too.. lol so I need to get crackin on supplies and finding a sewing machine.
Went to the dentist today and got a good talking too. lol My insurance is only good for a month since I reported my income and apparently making what I do is too much.. lol So anyway I got my exrays, cleanings and scraping done today. Am scheduled to go back next tues to have 4 removed and as soon as the insurance okays the others we are pulling I think 4 -5 more and getting a partial done for the top. They said if the said no to he repairs on a few (no root canals- I said so) they will be pulled and still i wil get the partial. Luckily the bottom teeth are strog and healthy. I have to take the kids back to school shhopping sunday after I get the list together and sort out the closets from holy clothes.. Tristen swears she doesnt have socks and I just bought 2 paks less than 2 months ago,, lol
Anywho I guess I better get running.. Hells kitchen is comming on soon..
(((((((((Huggs))))))))))
Donna
Here is miss priss telling me she has nothing to wear.. Shes so rotten and Bella just loves her to death..
Well, LK - Most of my newest quilts are given away lol
I have an old, Log Cabin that I made eons ago (about 30 years ago), out of plaid squares, etc, but I don't really like it - it's not made to be beautiful, just warm & useful lol
I'll see if I can find the Lone Star medallion I made and take a pic of it - it's for a Queen sized bed, once I get all the border done....
Just running through very fast on my way to the bed. I was with the girls from 7:30 AM until midnight on Monday and back over there at 7:30 this morning. Mom did get off early so I was home by 6, Kim had dinner ready then off to Wally Mart to get some things for her classroom. Yeap she has finally gotten into the classroom but the boxes delivered are not her things. Oh well her problem--I have to be back at the girls at 7:30 for yet another day of playing princess fairy, crafts, playing in the pool, hide n seek and then drag my exhausted body home. Loving every minute of it as they grow so fast but honestly my bod is saying it need a little more sleep!
Keep the crumbs scattered so I can continue to find everyone.
Good night Marion!! Sweet dreams :-)
Well, I was sure surprised today by good customer service! Yesterday I went to one of my fav stores - "Last Chance Trading Co". We have a Cosco (like Sam's Club"), and it, and 2 other major chains - when they have damaged or over-stock - send it to the LCTC. I got a 4-pack of solar lamps that go on their own posts. The box was damaged, but it said "New". When I opened it, I found 1 top and 1 spike broken of the 4, so only had 3 good ones.
I went back today to get a printer (another story), and when I mentioned the solar light, she said it was returnable! I didn't think they would. I raced home, got the broken bits, and she replaced them with new parts. I'm Really Pleased. I didn't expect a thing.
These lights are very good quality and I got them for $48 for all of them. Cast iron & will stay lit for 8 hours. They stand about 2 ft tall, and the carriage lights hand down, so they sway. I'll have to post a pic when I get them up...
