think I have to pot up the flowering kale seedlings... LOL... three years old.. who knew they would all germinate???
Garden Photo's 09 ......# 36
Thanks, Marilyn! Allison, I love salvias of any kind.
Oh, I meant to say, God help me if I ever get into collecting begonias. DL's are enough, I think, and hostas.
sorry Karen I blew right passed your question... not really sure about the rex care.. two of mine did not come back this year... guess I am not the person to ask
:(
but in the past mine did great outside... they were 3 years old and did not return... but I did loose quite a few things to neglect this past winter
Thanks, Allison. Guess I will try mine outside. I think they could do with some repotting and fertilizing, too.
I bought that BB 'Santana' this year. Very nice!
Karen
great pictures karen and allison
karen what do you think of that double top echi? i have one, it was the one in front of the bee balm i posted not long ago, it looks ok, not a top ten for me.
shelly that is hot! drink plenty of fluids - i would be drenched in that weather, hope the garden does not stress too much.
Bill, I like that echi, though it does not double much at all. I like it when it does double. This is it's third year for me, and It's a nice big clump now.
Karen
Thanks for the heat condolensces!
Bill... Yep, I've been drenched, in sweat, going out to water in the mid day. Although, I'm grateful that i've been able to because all the first and second year plants have been wilting, some scorching, by mid day. Unfortunately they are on their own tomorrow. The sprinkler system comes on for 40 min. each sect. at 4:30 am. I'm going to get as much hand watering done by 8:00 as possible (which wont be much), then everything just has to make it until 3 pm. when the system will come on again. today that wasn't good enough. Anyhow...... I did find someone to come by and take care of the pets tomorrow, so for that I'm very grateful!! If they have time, they said they'll do some watering. The up side is that thursday is going to seem cool at a mere 98 deg!!
Thanks Robin! I do have Ac at home, which I have always loved since i'd never had an AC until about 5 years ago. However, I don't have one at work. That's going to be hot!! Definitely enjoy being able to use yours though!
Karen... Lovely Pictures! your summer sounds like the one that we had last year. We had a some heat waves, but mixed with record lows every few weeks. Then the fall rain started in late aug. Yep, very little rain lately. I believe that we haven't had any since early June. Oh Wait, We did have some with thunderstorms about a month ago.
Allison...Those are all great.
RC take it easy with that heat today
Good morning everyone
RC watch the fluids for the plants and your own sweet self.
morning!
Awful hot out there in oregon. Hope it ends soon. Our temps have finally felt like July the last couple of days but nothing as insane as your temps, go slow and water everything including yourself a lot.
Karen all your pics are so pretty. I wish I could get an echinacea 'Twilight' to make it through the winter here. Tried twice and no go. I love the color of it, maybe the new one 'Tomato Soup' will work better. I will try that one next year.
I'm deadheading Lilies
always a bad sign
fall is coming.
But lets think of more pleasant things.
right now that is a bad 4 letter word
All the rain , now hot and humid. Things are fading fast. Your blooms look very pretty ge but I agree the last few days the garden is looking a little tired. Going out on slug patrol now while it's still cloudy.
Armed with salt or amonia so;ution?
Jo Ann---wash your mouth out with soap! No using that 4 letter word here! Your Sixteen Candles looks great---mine has finally started to bloom---may get some photos later if the rain doesn't get the blooms first!
I have those disposable gloves, so I grab them and smush them into the pavement or rock.. Very satisfying. Only snagged two today but I have taken out over a hundred at least. DH says I enjoy it waaaaay too much. :)
I use a spade to chop them in half and then wait for their brethren to come to devour them and salt the whole bunch.
Not much salt needed ,dont have to bury them in it.
The great comfort is in knowing youve elimenated a possible 10,000. more baby slugs.
uh oh ge said the 'f' word :O RC what IS with the crazy heat on your side of the big rocks? WA is cookin too! Onewish my nicotiana aren't smelly this year either :( The sweet peas are making up for it though :)
I love that pic, Ngam. Wonderful combo!
I agree!!! Love the pinks, purples, and yellow!!
Oh thank you. I am thrilled with how this little section is working out. They were all new plants last fall and this spring. I was planning they would all bloom or overlap together. I hope it will get better and better as they all mature. Here is a wider shot I took this am. We are waiting for some nasty storms to roll on through so I wanted to get a few garden pics in case things get battered down again. Hope they won't be as bad as they are saying.
nice Ge & Ngam!!!
Very nice string of photos, everyone!
I like those golden orange begonias, Allison!
I can see why that is your favorite spot in the garden, Patti!
So sorry it's extremely sticky for you Shelly .... I don't envy that at all. I would rather have it 10 below than over 100.
Here's a shot of an interesting coleus-like plant. Nice coloring, eh?
Perilla 'Magellanica'
beautiful perilla Willie!!
