ommmmmmm Slugs please stay out of my garden forever ommmmmmm

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Even I know it's the year of the slug! At least in New England...There is so much eye candy here, I am too overwhelmed to comment on every thing I'd like to! Pixie, your garden fairy is priceless--definitely a work of art. Ngam--love your morning after photos--I can smell the country air! Patches and the lillies are equally gorgeous!
dnut--remember your approach to the mice?...love thy enemy! It works with the slugs as well. Your first act as a friend would be to salt their food so the will have a flavorful meal. Let me know how it goes! ^_^

WOW thats red

Thanks, all!

Marilyn, that pastel DL looks familiar. Looks like one I just gave to someone that was supposed to be 'Butterfly Garden' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/12274/ , but it looked like yours. It was nice, but not what I wanted.

I have not had slugs eating my DL's. I find them on there sometimes, but I've never seen damage from them. I find snails on them, too, but they don't eat them, either. Do snails eat the same things that slugs eat?

Here are some more pics.

I get these bugs on my DL's a lot. Don't seem to harm them. Anyone know what they are? They look like little katy-dids to me.

If anyone wants a cure for slugs...... here you go!

I did not see hide nor hair of them today when I was outside having to do supplemental watering simply to cool the newer plants.

The picture is crappy because I took the picture of the TV newcast with my cell phone. Geographically... I am between Eugene and Roseburg on this map.

Blooms on my pink rambler rose. This one has been in my gardens for years. It's blooming late this year, as I moved it in the early spring and it took longer to come out of dormancy for some reason. It looks great, though. I have very little problems with this one. An old fashioned variety, I'm guessing.

Wow! Shelly, I can't believe the temps you're getting! I don't envy you.

I agree Karen! For tomorrow, they are saying that Eugene, and of course other cities nearby, my very well tie or break their all time record highs! 108 is that record. Of course I can't be home to baby sit the plants and pets, but I'm thinking that I'm going to try to hire someone as fast as I can :-(

A closer look at them....

Well, you're getting record highs (and possibly very little rain?), and we've been getting record low high temps with tons and tons of rain. We had a record low high temp earlier this month. I forget now what it was, 40-something, I think.

Odd little bug on my echi....

Echi 'Twilight' from the 'Big Sky' series. This is it's third year for me. Very slow to take off. I'm hoping next year it will be a bigger clump.

Gee, Karen---you have a lot going on in your gardens! Shelley, those temps are insane----you have to be in the A/C when it's that hot. We've had fans on all day, but it's pretty comfortable---may have to turn on the A/C tomorrow---that will be for the first time this summer.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I don't really care for them... but the hummers love em

Allison, gorgeous begonias. That is something I have none of, except 2 Rex begonias in the house. Do you think they would benefit from being outside for the summer in the shade? They don't seem to be doing so hot lately.

Karen

Am liking that picotee begonia very much!
