Cody

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Cool Cody!! I've been thinking of using my one time name change option too. What I have now is a user name from ages ago when we first got a computer.

Juanita

Coushatta, LA

Thanks, yea,i'm going to try and get more brugs so i changed it to that.

Coushatta, LA

The neat part about it is,that they change out every thing that had the old name and put the new name their.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello ladies..
wow cute name change Cody.
Quiet Sunday today, everyone's still at church and sleeping away?
Wakey, wakey... Maid M.. BJ... Donna...
Lolol.. hi there LK. Knee getting better?
Hi Juanita, so what name will you be wanting to change to?

Thought I could rest a bit, but the garden needs watering.
Talk to you all later.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi Pegi!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye, knee is doing better. Thanks.
Time for a roll call I think. So many of you have gone missing?
BJ, how is that little hot pepper of yours? bet you are having lots of fun with it?
When do you get your new student?
Audrey, I have not heard from you in awhile! Hope that knee is healed by now?
Stacey, pop in to say hello please. Let us know your doing OK.
Hello to everyone else.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hello LK - glad to hear your knee is doing better :-)

Hello & good afternoon to everyone!

Boy- church was busy this am - we had 50 people (incl Pastor & children!) and that's actually quite unusual for a Summer Sunday!! It usually, of course, picks up for Christmas & Eastertime, but otherwise most of our congregation is older and either get home visits, or nursing home services. So, our pastor is Quite Busy tending to all of them.
The memorial garden is looking great. The info has been gathered, and someone is making plaques for each plant, and a larger one showing everyone's name as it's been donated in memory, or in living memory of someone.
I put a rose in memory of my Dad (who would have been 107 on July 22nd!!).

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Stripped down to the waist, and ready to battle the weather!! That's another advantage of living in the country with no neighbours!!! Hehehehe.. no worries of shocking anyone!

But before I go and spend an hour.. yes, an hour just to water..
I agree LK. More sistahs been missing. And I do miss their goings on.
We do appreciate those that pop in now and then and tell us they're doing fine. Understandable that when the weather's beautiful, the pc has less appeal.

C_Susan, today it's been another wonderful day at church. Last week, a father and adult son came to the Lord. Today, it's a beautiful young girl. As for attendance.. 40 is the norm, but like yours, we had 50. The pastor preached a good sermon. He's not the typical Southern Baptist fire and brimstone preacher, but he got His message across;)
Good idea for a memorial garden. Wonder if I could put that idea across.. If there's a graveyard provided by the church, why not a memorial garden.
And if you need any instructions in Cajun cooking, I'll be glad to help :D
Lived in the heart of Cajun country for 30 years before moving here.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I lost you guys somewhere, but I'm back now.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - I understand your pleasure when people come to the Lord. My DH did, last fall, and got welcomed in (formally) on Easter Friday. And when he joined the Choir!!! He's so handsome in his navy blue with white collar choir gown. It truly choked me up, and I couldn't help but become emotional. He also joined the Handbell Choir while we had handbells (which are now returned to the church that owns them), and I was the Director.
He's also the Property Manager at the church cuz the previous one had to retire. It's a young man's job, but they also want someone with experience in construction, etc. My DH isn't young (60 on his next b-day) but he sure is knowledgable in a lot of construction as that was his previous job :-)

I tell people he came in the backdoor - doing good works for the church - then became a member, when usually people join, then are sometimes coerced into doing stuff lol He saw what people in our church were like, appreciated that they are living testaments to His Work, and decided they were right-thinkers.

I'm truly blessed having my DH in my life :-)))

Coushatta, LA

Hi Pegi, thanks, where have you been hiding at?

Coushatta, LA

Hi Jaye, thanks, i thought that i would change it since half of our roses got roasted.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hiya Cody - love your new name :-)

Coushatta, LA

Thanks Susan, how is your day going?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am wakey, wakey and have been since 9 this morning. Sorting out somethings I need to get rid of to make room for my "addiction" stash.

Resting to get my energy more than anything as I will be keeping the girls for the next 2 weeks and that is enough to wear me out. I am getting to old for this--I think. LOL Tomorrow will be an usually long day as it is the parental unitls anniversary and they are going out to dinner after work. Then possibly a movie.

We finally got some rain; need much more but thankful for any little bit right now.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

One very Hot Bike Ride today.....cooled down now so may go out to HD and see about getting a couple of Fiberglass Roof Panels for my side Patio.....need a bit more shade out there.....then again, may just sit here under the fan......

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Cody - my day is going great!! I just got off the phone with tech support - I had a niggling little problem sending regular emails from IE, and they fixed it. Apparently IE didn't see that I had MS Outlook as the email prog, and was using Outlook Express instead. Even though IE was SET for MS Outlook lol silly puters!! Well, they fixed it! Case of delete profile on Outlook Express & FORCE IEto recognize my email prog!! yeeeeeeeeeehaw!! DONE

My DH is finishing building the Rain barrel stand, and we'll take it to Marlene's place today.
It's raining, off & on, so don't have to water anything. Memorial garden is beautiful.
My tax refund is going in tomorrow (somehow they cut $800 off........ dunno why, but I'll find out!) and it's still a good refund. Now I'll have some ??disposable cash?? for when my mom visits (does anyone Truly Have disposable cash? haha)

1 more week of work, the STAYCATION time (that's a term I heard the other day - vacation whereby you stay home lol) cuz we sure don't have a lot of $$ to travel anywhere - like a lot of people :-)

It's cooler today than it's been, so it's quite lovely out.

Take care, everyone!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello Laura! How have you been? Anywhere closer to finishing your cross stitch?

You're a great granma Maid M.!
Grandkids keep your mind young, unfortunately challenging your physical stamina! Just borrow a bunch of dvds.. or take them to the library... better yet, if there's a children museum in town.. that will keep them occupied.
You've mentioned your wedding anniversary's coming up soon. How many years would it have been Maid M.?
Say, I'm just starting on Thunder's blocks.. is there a deadline?

Amen Mr. Talullah!! You're smart enough to know we don't have an expiration date;)
"Coerced"... you mean that goes on in your church too Susan? Funny, the elders today asked for more help from the young men. I don't see any hands raised :(
Yah, we should be doing more, but Kel's plate overflows right now. Even on Sundays, it's not a free day for him, but I'm glad he makes time for church.
Unless you're Donald Trump, let's try maybe a cupful of disposable coins!!
Even staycations can be expensive, especially when kids are out of school and they eat constantly!!! Right mamas?

Trisha, would you believe that Kel is supposed to put a clear roof over our back porch too..... since January!!!! That's where our outside cats like to lounge, and I'd love for them to be protected when it's raining.
Just like the wished for pond.. only way I can have that is to hire Ricky. Fan will chase away any pesky insects too ;0

Just my luck.. spent an hour out there watering.. then spraying the plants.. guess what?? It's raining!!!!
Sorry I missed your calls Cody.. aka Angel! Now why are your roses toasted??

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi everyone !!!

My mouse died. Poor thing hung on for over a year... in pain, and was terribly hard for me to handle it's illness. Not real sure what was ailing it, but I've had to bang it on the table just to get a few more minutes of life out of it. Finally put it out of its misery today, and gave it a proper funeral. Bought a new one, and now I remember how a healthy well behaved mouse is suppose to act.

Been biting the bullet lately and working on those dang boat seats. Got the bench seats on the back done... now working on the bolsters. Seems like every seam I've sewed, I've had to rip out and re do. I hate upholstery... I hate upholstery... I hate it ... hate it... hate it. Don promised me that when this boat is done... he'll never ask me to do any more upholstery... and he's being vewy vewy nice to me while I'm sewing.

Been working on some things for AFS... and getting ready for our first meeting next week. Phyllis has registered as a volunteer, and I'm really looking forward to working with her this year. So far, we have placed 8 girls, and 2 boys in the East Texas area (lucky boys, huh?)... we have 4 more students to place... and time is running out. Say a little prayer.

Well, just thought I'd check in to let you all know I'm still alive... it's just the mouse that died.... and I don't missed it at all.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

((((hugs)))) BJ for the loss of your mouse ...lol...
are you needing assistance over there?????

Yep I am accepted as a Liaison and we have our meeting the 1st ...am getting excited about it all too.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey... I'm so tickled pink over the loss of that mouse !!!!

I told Don, that if that boat is going to get done... he's got to help. He's pulling staples, and taking things apart, then after I do the cutting out and sewing, he's putting it all back together again... fair trade, huh?
but thanks, sistah Phyllis... we have a rhythm going now.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

A proper burial? Need I dare ask how? LOL Funny how we will just hang on and hang on rather than replace them when they start acting up. I guess it is the "get all the use out it it"syndrome, think? Glad to hear you are making progress with the boat cushions. I really need to start the cushions for my wrought iron bench but that will have to wait a couple of more weeks.

Waving Phyllis--just about have everything in place for the wedding? Congrats on becoming a liaison--I really thought about it but I don't think I could do it justice at this time. Still confusion at the house as the new school isn't ready yet, language labs equipment stored in the den and no date given as to when Kim will even be able to get into the school to start setting up her room. Well her and the entire faculty. Talk about some poor planning or bad timing--not sure which. The students normally come back about the 27th of July but no idea when this year.

Jaye, it would be our 49th anniversary. Son and daughter in law celebrate their 13th tomorrow.

We finally got some rain and of course had to take some rough weather with it as well. Thank goodness I have finally found a reliable yard person as I have more dead limbs down. Really big ones this time--thinning of the sickly I think.

Well I have to be up and going early so I will say goodnight all--stay well and will chat when I get a chance.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh good deal is a great trade in my book

kinda sorta on the wedding....not sure if she has pulled her music together or not we talked about it and she mentioned using the Ipod and speakers

the only thing pending now if you even think that is I moved some "bushes" the I had in front of the house to new spots as they will get way to big to be in the front flower bed and now DH is moaning about the space left now and the terrace along the drive way is not looking the best after the heat wave so I guess I am going to be doing some plant hunting to see what I can find to fill it in some what so it looks nice..the biggest issue is the fact my brother and his wife are invited ..the one that complained about eh dragons on the invitation and she will just pick it all apart and I don't want her to ruin my daughters day

Hello everyone.
Laura, so nice to see youpop in here! Hope all is well with you and family?

Bj, I have a wirelessmouse, and I need to put new batteries in it every now and then, but it is so nice. Check them out next time.

Marion, let me know how the stash turns out. I am always looking for new place to hide mine. So far it is in rubbermaide tubs, unsder the table, next to the bed....
Phyllis, nice to see you too.
You are going to host a student this year?
Good night everyone. Sleep tight!

Coushatta, LA

Susan, that's great that you got your computer fix.

Jaye, the roses roasted because of no rain hardly.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Think you said you have 50 roses, so how many are left Cody?
Call me tomorrow in the afternoon, we'll talk..
got to say goodnight to you too, sweetie.

Coushatta, LA

I'm not sure Jaye, but will still have some.Ok i will call you tomorrow.Good night

Coushatta, LA

Good night everyone.......sleep well.......

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LK, the mouse that died was a wireless mouse, and yes... I was constantly trying fresh batteries. Didn't help. So, it got buried in the trash under 2 feet of papers (junk mail). The new mouse is a wireless too... I'll probably never go back to the old kind of mouse with the wire.
No, LK... Phyllis has decided to volunteer in other ways... she's not ready to be a host parent. A liaison will just act as sort of an Aunt/Uncle family to keep in touch with the student and host family. They are the first leg of our support system, and will pick up on any problems that might occur, and assist the student and host family to resolve issues. I think Phyllis will be an extraordinary liaison... and she'll be volunteering to help with other things as well... like maybe driving a bus when we want to take all the kids somewhere... she can even help with the orientations too. She can be as involved as she wants to be.

Support group for boat upholstery? ugh... I'd really stink at cheering someone on... I'd just tell them to QUIT...

Woke up way too early this morning... just couldn't sleep any longer... don't know why... but now that I'm up... I should start looking at those bolsters before I forget how they go together.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Coffee is on, come and get it. i will be out back watching the hummers.
Already 82 degrees, with 65% humidity!
Later

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!
Thanks for making the coffee LK. Got some buttered croissants here.
One good thing about high humidity, it keeps your skin moist, so you'll look younger!!
Still no sign of hummers here :(

Good luck in completing the bolsters BJ! BTW, how's your vege garden doing. Suffering any with this heat?

Body refused to co-operate with my mind this morning and Kel let me sleep in. Will have to get swap and block packages ready soon to be mailed. My envelope is looking more like a squashed box!!
Then do more blocks, for Thunder's son, will post pics when I'm through.

You all have a great day Monday!

Coushatta, LA

Jaye,i will have to call you later. Rob is going to take me to get my pictures at walmarts. When he gets off work in alittle while.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm always here, just reading most of the time. Today is my day to visit the thrift store and see what goodies I can find. Going to be another hot day too. I'm ready for cool rainy weather. Our water is being rationed because of the drought, so that isn't news any more. Each year we get restrictions on water and my plants aren't very happy about that. I should stick to drought tolerant plants.
