Evenin all

yes they got the "fuse" replaced both days and so far so good we have not lost power again since
They had called Oncor out to help form Dallas as the storms caused alot of power outages.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Synda, congrats on losing that much weight! Keep us posted on your progress girl!

Shade gardening is better than no gardening at all Maid M. My sisters live in those high rises and all they got is a little balcony for some miserly potted plants :D They take any space they can, shade or not! Poor you, maybe you could try gardening on the rooftop? I'm being mean aren't I?
One day, you'll post saying you just bought a cottage and you're able to plant more sun-loving plants. Come on lottery!!
In the meantime, you could live vicariously through us :D

Hiya Phyllis, didn't know your lights were off! Do you have a generator going?

Juanita, Stargazer is an Oriental Lily. As for scent, Casa Blanca, another Oriental is overpowering. I love a perfumed garden.

So we'll lose C-Susan and Cindy to Farmtown.. Sob-sob-
Hardly see Phyllis anymore and Synda..If I were to get involved in a game, I'll never get my sewing done!!! Have fun ladies.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh the power was off monday morning I called and had to call again when I got back from town ..then we had storms go through again monday night and I had to call them again tuesday to come fix the fuse again..no generator here

I play the farm town mostly at night as during the day I go out and weed, pick veggies and whatever else LOL

Well off to bed tonight early have a class at 8am to be at so can't stay up late tonight LOL
Nite ladies sweet dreams all

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

---and I thought LK was resting.. she's slaving away for Synda!! Oh no...

Hehehehe.. good night Phyllis.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh that's not true Jaye, I'm on both Farm Town and Farmville and I have time. I'm hoping tomorrow after work I'll have time to get on and add everyone I want so we can all farm together!!

ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND DMAIL ME YOUR USER NAMES OR DMAIL OR SOMETHING. I have a list I left at work :( I know I have Synda and Phyllis.

YAY Synda on the weight loss. I need to lose about 30 pounds, but apparently I'm not ready yet cause I just keep eating. I'm good at maintaining my weight though!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good night Cody. Sleep well.

When I have the time, I might pop in.. just to satisfy my curiosity. I bet my nieces are experts!! If you can't figure it out, Susan, I don't think I can neither!!!

I'll see you all tomorrow. Good night everyone.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

good night everyone, sleep well.............

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning all you sleepy heads!!! Off to babysit girls--breakfast buffet: gallo pinto, plaintains, pancakes, pineapple, mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, yucky-00ps- yucca croquettes, and an assortment of baked goodies filled with strawberry and coconut; guava and cheese. Oh yes coffee con leche if you so desire and there is also the usual sugary cereals. Dig in!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

How "SWEET" of you to leave all that for us!!!!! Have fun with your girls...

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Homemade granola with a banana that is past it's prime here. :0). Woke up at 4:45 AM. Couldn't go back to sleep, so I came downstairs to the office and checked in here. Got the coffee going and DH out the door. Then I decided to go out and weed the iris bed since it was nice and cool out there. Have 2 loads of laundry going and I have done my workout. Only problem with the early start is I will be asleep by noon. :0)

Had another storm last night so we ended up with over an inch of rain for yesterday. At least that gets me off the hook for watering. Going to go glaze some ceramics I painted the other day and maybe fire the kiln. See if I remember how after a year and a half.

Have a good 'un ladies!

Juanita

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

What is gallo, please?
I'll have a tiny bit of everything (cuz, as of today, I'm GONNA do everything I can to lose the spare tire around my midrif!!). I walked up the 3 flights of stairs when I got to work - it's a Start!
BUT - (no, not My Butt!) I won't skip brekkie - it's the best start of the day. Other than the part where I reviewed my wonderful, restful garden this am, and watered my grass..... gotta love starting the day with my DH coming to say "bye" in my 1st fav place in the world! (the 2nd is the church garden - my how the Memorial Garden is growing!)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Yep. I am on farm town too, but i can easily sit here with my leg propped, and iced! I have a box under the computer, and that works just fine!
Hope you all are doing well, and have a great week-end!

LK

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Love Farm Town and Farmville LOL Hopefully tonight I'll have more time to spend on it.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

As time gets closer for my mom to arrive, I'm getting frantic to have everything Just Perfect......
tonight I go to my friends to fix her rain barrel stand, and put weeds out her back berm.
There's a dead willow I have to get rid of - it's one of those low-growing hedge types, and it's the 3rd in the row of 3, and not that visible - But The Weeds Are! yikers!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Am here! What an exotic breakfast! Ooooh love guavas. Grandma had a guava tree that we don't wait for the guavas to ripen.
Gallo pintos? Yah.. what do they look like?
Thankee Maid M. Enjoy your day with the girls.

Barb, not too often Maid M fixes breakfast for us. Thank God for little blessings :D

Juanita, you do ceramics too? Kel's mum's pretty good at that. Unfortunately, she had to leave her kiln alone till Murdock's fully recovered.

I did try my hand at one of those 'farms'. After a few clicks decided not to continue. Don't want another distraction!
So, what level are you Crissy?

LK, did you have the stitches taken out yet? Keep propping that leg sweetie. Want you to heal well.

Susan, I need to get physical!! Climbing a flight of stairs will burn those calories. What spare tire? You mean your life saver?
Do you have a pic of your little garden?
Will you introduce your mum to DG? She's gonna be happy to know you are not wasting time on 'unprofitable' indulgence :D LOL!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL Jaye - You sound like Olivia Newton John - I have her vinyl record!
I musta Gained 25 lbs in the past few months.....stopping going to the gym when I hurt my knee (just a strain - needed to 'baby' it), and never got going again, PLUS all the cakes I ate for b-days in march....siiiiiiiiiiigh Work is such a "foodie" place where people bring donuts, etc!!!
Doesn't help when I don't go to the park at lunch, to walk the 2 blocks....

I'll take a pic of my back yard - it's starting to grow grass!!! I'm soooooooo happy about that!

My mom's not interested in computers - they make her head spin with all that people talk about them & she doesn't want to hear anything more. It's all I can do to show her family pictures I've taken on the computer. She is 90, after all, and not interested in technology. I hope I get my 'buddy gifts' while she's there, so she can see that DG is full of fun people that I am happy to call "friends".
I'll have to move my computer to the bedroom while she's staying in the den - can't stop coming here!! I tell everyone that will listen about DG lol

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

"Please Mr. please.. don't play B17"----- remember that one? I used to holler those lyrics..
Vinyl here too. Love her voice.
90! Wow!! I bet she has lots of history to tell. I love listening to folks talking of 'back in the good ole days', when electricity was a luxury and horse drawn carriages were your only means of transport in the countryside.

Kel's mum quit using the internet.. I wish she had not, as now she's back in the limited 'frog pond' and back to negative gossips on the phone, and create nothing but friction and drama. Funny thing was she said online folks are superficial.. we can't convince her the otherwise. But now, I thank God, she doesn't know about DG, cause she'd only dwell on the few negatives we have here. How some are hearers and not doers? We keep on praying for her.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

My daughter used to put down the fact about my "online friends" until she met a couple of people - and she's now married to someone she met on LavaLife lol

My mom just can't stand people going on & on about something she has no interest in - computers - and some, new to being on computers and liking to show off their new interest & knowledge, do Just That... go on & on & on & on.............

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Afternoon!

Just started up the kiln and I know it will be disaster city in there. Didn't thin out my overglaze enough and it is too thick so everything will fire cloudy. I put a couple of experimental things in there to try and at least there is a modicum of hope that they will work. They were pre glazed pieces that I just decorated.

Susan, my grandmother was like that about computers. She just didn't get it at all. It's been 10 years since she died and I bet if you could talk to her now about things like Facebook etc. she really wouldn't know what to make of it.

Jaye you sound like you had an interesting childhood, so different in geography than most of us. I didn't even know what a guava was until I was 20. :0)

Oh well I guess I will hang out upstairs for a while to check on the kiln until we get past the "blowing up" stage. Sometimes that happens with things inside. Makes a god awful racket and a heck of a mess.

Juanita

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Juanita - doesn't the kiln get damaged from things blowing up?
I've always wanted to have a kiln, but I don't have the room, nor the resources that I KNOW I would spend on it lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Not very far on either one Jaye, just started the other day.

Dave was against the talking to people on the internet. When he was gone for 3 months in 2006 I got on myspace, then he got home and we moved here to AR and I found all ya'll, then he started changing his mind. Last October I went to my first RU and had pics of about 10 people on MidSouth and it changed his mind completely. Now me and my mom, who is still computer scared about chatting online and what-not, is on Facebook, Farm Town, and Farmville. It's weird how people change.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

my ex refused to "allow" me to go to a RU in eastern states, and my siblings were with him, in 1997. We had a HUGE blow-up. It was just before we split LOL
Ain't NO ONE telling Me who my friends can be lol
It was waaaaaaaaaaaaay back when MSN rooms were the only ones to get on, other than "the competition", and it was a room called "happily married" lol I went in there saying "I wish I was..........." lol lovely bunch of people, coming from all over the states to meet once a year. Of course I've lost track of them, a long time ago.

btw - drinking water again (2 water bottles so far today - no, I won't float...), and went to the park/duck pond at lunch. Fed the ducks some bread, and boy, did they Love Me lol

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Hey Susan. Usually there is no damage when something pops. It kinds of depends on what it is. Sometimes greenware (the first stage) will explode if it isn't dry enough or there are air pockets in it. I've had that happen a couple of times when I was rushing the process. That's not too big of a mess, because the clay is pretty soft yet when it goes. I sometimes repurpose plain plates or cups that I have decorated with an overglaze that can be used on already glazed ceramics. Since they are already glazed fired and I have no way of knowing how they were produced in the first place, there are sometimes problems. That's the kind of stuff I was concerned about today. SO far we seem to be OK. I hope they work because I have a pile of plain white, bone china plates that I found by the recycle dumpster one day. I thought with a little color around the rims they would make good plant saucers. We'll see.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye, I went, but she cancelled the appointment, that is why I have to go back Monday! leg is propped, and on ice!
Hope you all have a great week-end!!

LK

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good for you Susan, don't put up with that crap. Dave doesn't tell me what to do and I try to not tell him what to do, but I do get upset when he goes out without me. I just don't think that's right, but he throws the, "I don't tell you where you can't go, you go to Mississippi, Louisiana, and California and I don't tell you know, I just want to go to the bar and visit friends for a few hours." Which is exactly what he does so I can't justify having a problem when my friends are surrounding him.

Have a great weekend LK!! And be careful with that knee!!

Good for both you & Dave - stick to your guns, and he'll stick to his.
I told my DH that we were too old when we met to try to change now (in our 40's). As long as we love the person we met, we shouldn't try to change them, right? Now I'll get off my soap-box lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am pooped!! There should be a law against children having as much energy as they do--well at least they are happy and healthy. My only moment that I almost lost it was when I told the 4 year old I wanted her to finish eating her breakfast and she replied.."Well Grandma, I am trying to focus but you keep talking to me!" Enuff said.

Gallo pinto is served usually 3 meals a day in CR and consist of rice and beans--very well seasoned but not hot or spicy--just very tasty. Has red peppers diced very finally in it sometimes plus spices I am not really sure of other than garlic and a little cumin. Love it with a fried egg on top. The beans vary--sometimes black, sometimes, red sometimes pinto and so on, so forth. That and plantains are served at every meal--plantains can be fixed various ways including grilled on a grill which was good too.

I was shocked to see guavas as plentiful as they were--my Mom loves to make jelly and has a hard time finding them. So when she makes a batch she very carefully passes it out. Juanita, you don't realize how close you came to not getting your jar as my jar was only half full. Bummer. Oh well maybe she will find some more soon and jelly will be forth coming.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's hilarious Maid M!!! Such a precocious child, just perfect for you!
My younger brother when he was 5, once was told by mum to finish all his veges and be like Tarzan. He turned around and told her to finish them off for him, so she could be like Tarzan's mum.
His present job? An engineer.. truly thought he'd be a lawyer.

So Gallo Pinto sounds like 'hopping John'. Me love beans or black eye peas in rice.

I do have a guava growing outside in a pot. Don't know when it will fruit. Not too tropical here, unlike Florida. Do you know that guava leaves when chewed will stop diarrhea? Handy to have around huh?

Glad you pop up for some air, LK!

Dear Crissy and newly-wed lurkers....
Kel and I don't compete with each other, neither do we try to control one another. Support and respect is there. Can't tell you all how blessed I am to have him this late in my life. Never wanted another marriage after my first fiasco.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Jaye - I hear ya!! I feel the same way about my DH - nice to have someone who respects your "you-ness"!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I was 32 and Dave was 43 when we met 5 1/2 years ago. Been married for a little over 3 years. We do fine, just life's little turmoils now and then. He gets real cranky when he works too much or gets too tired, like anyone else does and I'm the first person he sees so I get it. We have a very 'normal' marriage.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Marion I felt so special to get that jelly!!! It is awesome too! I ration it out here. :0)

Juanita

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M. is one generous lady. You are so lucky Juanita.

Crissy, 3 years...you're still on your honeymoon!
