Night/night
Copy / Pasted from last Thread...
Hello To All;
Tubby - that was beautiful...it brought me tears...I guess because today was the memorial service for my friend that died April 18th...I'm not sure why they waited so long to have it...but he was a very special guy...died at 50...he had lung cancer...but the cancer didn't get him...his lungs just weakened from what I found out today...
Liz - I LOVE Cracker Barrells! We have 2 here if you ever want to come visit! Funny thing is Cracker Barrels were convenience stores here first...but I knew them as the restaurants since we used to visit the one in Tallahassee, FL when visit the grandparents...so many folks here didn't realize what they were at first (years ago)
Trisha - I love canna's! DH not so much ...is yours the dark leaves with the red blooms? I have some but your leaves are darker...I like that...have you sent a pic of the pond? or is it completed...
Tubby - I must have been having a 'blonde moment' with the hibiscus... :) Send a pic if you can!
Bev - love the cosmos...I tried to plant a variety but they didn't make it...maybe the heat...but perhaps this is another variety...mine were small and blue... I like your orange ones better...
Deb - can you send the squash recipe? I wish I could send you some hibiscus seeds...but just barely learning to grow them... my latest lesson on the tropicals...was to NOT fertilize them with high Phosporus fertilizers..(the middle number) ...
Linda Kay - I hope your knee is better...Please Rest when you Can !!!
Hugs to All -
Mary
Betty so glad you are home safe.....and somewhat sound.
Hugs,
Debbie
Mary, here you go....
SUMMER SQUASH CASSEROLE
2 lbs. or 6 cups summer squash, approx.
1/2 cups chopped onion
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 cup sour cream
1 - 8oz. pkg. herb-seasoned stuffing mix
1/2 cup melted butter
Boil squash, cut in small chunks, and chopped onion together for approximately 5 minutes; drain. Combine undiluted soup and sour cream; then fold into drained squash and onion. Layer stuffing mix, squash mixture, stuffing, squash and stuffing in casserole. Pour melted butter over all. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Hey Thanks Deb! I saved it in the Family Cookbook file....I love Squash! was raised on it!
I'm trying to evolve an enchilada casserole...the family kind of liked it when I fixed it...but I had to DR. it up with spices, salsa & mild sauce...
Just trying to find new things the family will like....
It's my "First Day at School".....LOL>...my first day at the new job tomorrow....I was at my old job for 11 years....there was not even email when I left my old job...so it's a whole new world....
I appreciate any prayers, thoughts, for tomorrow....I am so hard on myself...it's all I can do to run the "Positive tape" through my head......and not the negative one....
So any of the above is MUCH appreciated! Please wish me luck!
HUGS,
Mary.
Mary, you will do just fine tomorrow. You have such a great personality.....and I will definately be sending prayers, positive thoughts and lots of good luck wishes your way.
You know, my kids do NOT like squash...and I was not a fan. Then my MIL made that....and the kids now ask me to make it. Today as a matter of fact, I had Shannons BF take just one bite....he is very very fussy. Took a bite, says "thats squash?" And took a big scoop.
I envy you with the enchalada cassarole. I can't eat anything spicy like that or I get very sick. DH and I have such opposite stomachs...sometimes it is really hard. Last night at the wedding....he is eating a sliced prime rib....with horseradish and hot peppers and my eyes were watering sitting right next to him. He makes his own hot sauce also.
Now, you get a good nights sleep. Hold your head up....shoulders back....big smile, and you will do just fine.
Hugs
Debbie
Betty, glad you are safely home. I am really enjoying your son’s adventures…..we used to have a double sea kayak….had a lot of fun, and a few scary times in that craft, wish we still had it.
Mary, not sure on the Canna, you will have to ask Liz. She sent it to me….
Know you are going to do great tomorrow!!!
Here is the pond…
DebbiesDaisy I have plenty of seeds..Let check them out for viability..Will gladly seed you a bunch..Dw plated them in MY garden area when I was sick.Broke 3 shovels digging them out..LOL I've read to soak them in peroxide/hot water ..Can't remember where..It was on DG somewhere..
Mary you'll do fine.. Like the first day back to school.Take big a breath...They are just starting to bloom,,Give them a couple of weeks..the farmers DW loves them.We gave her a bunch
NITE ALL

hi tubby, those are good enjoy reading them, did i read that right 115 plants? holy cow!
hello to all i missed have a wonderful day
Good morning,
Liz, your right I am excited...but holding my breath nothing goes wrong between now and then. I am worried about our dear Betty....she has to be exhausted. BUT if we need to reschedule...that is fine too. I know it will "all work out" one way or another.
Tubby, thank you so much. I have an area along the "fence line" I know exactly where to put them. Or should I start them in a big pot?
I am off and running. DD has doctors appointment for shots before college. Going to be a lovely day as she gets three of them. I don't care if she is 18 she will whine all day long. LOL the best....I have to get her a milkshake so she can hold the cold cup against her arm. LOL
Betty, hoping you had a great nights rest and are feeling better....and showered this morning. I just don't know how you end up with this hotel problems as such....no heat, no shower.
Ok, I need a quick cup of coffee and off and running for the day. I see a nap in my near future! LOL
Debbie
Morning everyone!
Betty, sure sounds like he is haveing a grand time! OOps on the $$$$ earphones!
My knee is doing OK, a little better with each day! I think once I get the stitches removed, and start therapy, it will really start to improve?
Hope everyone has a splended Monday!
LK
Morning all, sure could have stayed in bed this morning..was tempted to call in sick, luckily I did not because LeeAnn did..lol no wasting days on sick days for nothing..keeping them for vacation...
OMG Trisha, you've done a wonderful job of your pond..bet you are thrilled to pieces..and fishies to boot..guess you can appreciate the ups/dow
LindaKay, glad you are feeling somewhat better..how long before the stitches come out and how is DH...back to work and ok???
Mary, by now you should be on your way to work..oh happy days, new friends to meet, challenges which I'm sure you'll meet with little to no problems..how nice for you..hey girl, that DH of yours is a looker..lol
Debbie as always you are doing the go/go/go .. should have gotten your telephone number before leaving, know I had it last time but couldn't find it...almost on your doorstep...tell me, did family spoil you for your birthday??? hope so...glad the wedding went well..did you get a bit of rain??
Was on the highway and saw CrackerBarrel signage and said exit now..well, how could anyone exit now when the exit to it was at least 1/2 mile before the sign...I thought they meant next exit, that was miles/miles away, drats bet I was on your doorstep yesterday..so had to get off, pay toll, come back that same distance in order to have breakfast...I did purchase another watch and a few more bands for it and some for Cathy who was house sitting..should have gotten her mom something as well as she seems to look after my furries just as much...have to remember that on my next trip....
Debbie that casserole looks 'yummy', might have to try it...
Liz, you are back to counting the days..
Be back in a few secs...
Just have a few things to do, will give you more to read of Jeff's adventure...
Hope I'm not boring you...
DAY 5...
Fell asleep early last night and didn't get a chance to update. Sitting on a rock overlooking the bay and morning mist floating on the water, no wind and looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day.
Yesterday was a really short paddle day, 4 hours or so from fenelon falls to bobcaygeon as scheduled, for some reason it really tired me out, just couldn't get comfortable.
The bonus part is Andrew got to the lock just before I did and was spending the night as well. He made good on his cold beer promise, you da man! For all those who think I'm sitting on my couch drinkin coffee and just posting random crap, now have proof I made it at least to here.
Thank you very much to Andrew and family for their hospitality and for graciously picking up the tab for dinner. His kids are adorable.
Woke up around seven and went straight to tims for breakfast. Then did a resupply run to sobeys and did a load of laundry to clean the smelly damp stuff, ewww. Packed up and was off, lazy morning and knew it was a short paddle day, crossed to the point in sturgeon lake and strong side wind again, waves weren't that bad but was choppy. Once I crossed around the point, wind was behind me again for the 12km sprint down the lake.
Further down the lake I got bigger the waves became, used to them now though and was a fun ride, I picked up the pace quite a bit which is probably why I'm more tired and sore today than the other days. There was a point where I was outrunning the waves and breaking through them and was pretty much constant between 7-8kph, broke a new personal speed record and got it up to 11.2kph. Wind is my friend. I have a gps unit my brother had lying around, doesn't have maps but does show speed, distance and tracks waypoints.
Pulled into bobcaygeon around 4 and had great time hanging with andrew, except for the part where he showed me camera footage (in hd glory) of the bear and her cub at lovesick lock, yeah fun. He said the racoons are a worse problem, yeah. The only work we discussed was how it is nice to get away an unwind. Sorry Alisha, we didn't discuss SRED strategies.
Long paddle ahead today and going to buckhorn, have a friend at a resort her brother own and going to stop in for visit.
Hey Betty, Todd is back to work, and doing much better. I get my stitches out on Wed. Then therapy will probably start.
No rest for the wicked!
LindaKay my DD had surgery in Jan. on her knee. I understand the pain your feeling. Keep your ice pack handy, it really did help her.
Oh Betty, we are even in the phone book if you didn't have number with you! I feel bad. Where did you end up out this way? Funny thing is, DH and I were traveling and I pointed out a car that looked like yours parked at peoples house up on Rt. 104.
I am enjoying your sons encounters...however find myself holding my breath while reading it.
Good Morning Everyone!!
I'll have to catch up later, busy day and I am sick sick sick. I caught a cold before I went to Memphis for the weekend, boy all of that fun created mayhem with this cold. My throat is massively sore and I have those little white bumps, plus I'm way congested with all of the good stuff including sinus headache. I thought it might be strep throat but according to Web MD that almost always has a fever with it and a big loss of appetite with no congestion. I haven't lost my appetite at all and I don't have a fever and I'm way congested, just have to wait it out I guess.
I'll talk at ya later gaters!
Betty did you have fun this weekend?
Gargle with salt water Crissy...it really helps. White bumps are not a good sign....keep a close eye on it, still can be a strep.
Yes, I told him that, he said no taking chances but somehow I feel during some of this adventure that he could have been in danger..probably the mother instinct in me is thinking that...
LindaKay, so glad hubby is feeling better...he's now working the entire day correct?
Debbie, once you leave the Depew exit, it's about 10 or 15 miles I think if not longer to the next exit..that's where I got off and went back..guess what, didn't have your last name..lol...and, didn't take my car, took mom's van...
Just talking to Kyle, he's home from the Trenton Army Base..I thought he would have loved it but he didn't so guess he won't join the army....
says he was at the house 3 times looking for me..ooops forgot to tell Greg I was going to the states...Kyle said there were several cars in the drive looking for me, guess I didn't tell some of my close friends either..I'll catch the what for...
OK got a few minutes, tell you about my weekend...
Left work at 3pm and stopped mid point..Christmas in July, met sister Sharon, gave her my christmas gifts I had purchased for her and she gave me mine..then continued to Bramalea..mom was virtually out waiting near the van..started to rain as we approached Niagara Falls/Lewiston ..we cross the border and mom says let's go to the Christmas Tree store, you created a monster Debbie...I said we should get a room but she thought she could get some shopping done before they close at 10pm..well, they close at 9pm so we had just an hour to shop..
Now we drove back closer to the Niagara Falls area, omg every hotel said 'no vacancy' so we'd drive to the next, then the next until we were looking at some of those cheesy little motels...even they were booked so we were almost 1/2 way back to the Christmas Tree store before finding a room...
Wasn't so sure I wanted to stay there but as long as the bedding was clean, we'd make due...room was $45. + taxes...told the owner that mom had asthma and could we check the room out...got mom to come inside, we weren't impressed but it was either sleep in the van or continue door to door search for a room...
Guess because we were there in February and no problem finding a room that it didn't even occur to me that we were in July, prime tourist location, most coming in for the weekend...shaking my head here..oh well...
We hadn't eaten yet so we went to the corner store and got each a salad..not tasty so in the garbage it went...
Didn't have time to think much about the room as I fell asleep so very quickly...mom couldn't sleep, think it was because a few doors down there were a few men sitting on lawn chairs enjoying the evening and gabbing..think the owner rented a few of their rooms to the needy by the month...so she took her normal sleeping pill and then when she couldn't sleep took another...
Woke her up at 6am, I was raring to go..shucks she was still half asleep..told her she could sleep in the car while I drove to Salamanca..had promised I'd take her to the Casino...
Beautiful scenery, up and down the mountanous hills, guess that's why Colin, my lawyer friend has a chalet..ski country....found a telephone booth, my telephone would not work in USA nor would mom's..called Colin and his son said he'd just left, so missed a tour of Beth's gardens...about another 1/2 hr. or so and we arrived at the Casino..of course mom was thrilled..found the machines she like playing..she asked if I would play, nope, not giving my money away..lol..in goes $50.00, once/twice/three times, four times and didn't bother keep counting..what a waste but it's not my money and that's her thing, who am I to say it's not right...so she decides she wants to move to another machine, someone sits at her machine and wins a jackpot..oh/oh...so she puts a $20. into a machine, plays for 2 seconds and tells me to play...she moved over to another machine..keep seeing $$$ being put it, I play, I'm up, then I'm down and I keep asking her how much I'd get if I cashed it in, she says keep playing..after an hour I key out, enough of that...made $61.50 .. her money not mine...then she puts another $50. by now I have her purse..lol...she's up/down and I say why not key out, go home with a bit..nope she's sure she'll win..so we sit there for what seems eternity and I finally say it's time to go..not sure what she spent but mega $$$..we key out with $110.50 and she give me $50.
She kept saying she probably would have won had I not said we had to leave...oh well...
Back to Ellicottville, what a beautiful little town, so adorable..sky was black but we managed to walk around the main street as they were having their annual festivities..lots of vendors, lots of painters...boutiques galore...we ate on the main street, best pulled chicken I've ever had..then off back to Niagara to find a room..
Get there around 3pm..thinking it would be a piece of cake, nice room, hot bath, quiet evening...NOT...rooms still all booked so back to same hotel/motel..last room they had..once we knew we had a room we went shopping.
I dropped mom off at KMart, one of her favorite stores and I went down the street to Joanne Fabrics..was able to find some nice material..didn't have my 'need' list for the quilt swaps I'm in so didn't purchase all I wanted...Supper at the Ponderosa and back to the room by 8:00pm...
I'm sure I was sleeping by 8:10..laughing though, bad enough we had to sleep there 1 night let alone go back for the 2nd night...
Next morning I said as long as I washed body parts with washcloth it would do until I got home...washed my underarms and glanced at the washcloth and it was dirty/yellow/stained..thought to myself, omg surely my under arms aren't that dirty...checked again and all the towels were badly stained..enought of washing for me..it would have to wait..lol
So off to find the CrackerBarrel..quite a drive but the breakfast was well worth it...mom wanted to buy me a few things but I wouldn't let her..best I'd do was let her pay for breakfast...
Back to the Christmas Tree to shop some more..here she almost filled the van..she did pick up a few pretty queen size quilts, reversable and only $29.99..I picked up a few things but not much..nothing really said take me home/take me home..but did purchase in black metal a "B" and a "P" very nicely cut, will put them at the door entrance..b for betty and p for pauze..oh and some pretty cusions for my dining room chairs..had new ones on the chairs but they can be put on the patio chairs...
Mom had picked up a big bag of cherries that morning, why? I don't know? couldn't bring them across the border so guess who ate them..mostly me.....
Now she has to stop at Kmart again, if the van wasn't full before it was now..but she was happy with her purchases...
Quite a wait at the border - 2 hrs., dropped her off and home I came..
Was quite tired...slept well and here I am ready to take on another day..
Wow Betty. I like to gamble but if I'm out $50.00 I'm done, sometimes that happens rather quickly. Sounds like you had a good time. Here's my weekend:
We left the house @ 11:30am and got to Memphis about 2:30pm. Got into our hotel room, a Quality Inn on the complete other side of town from where we were going to party, but that's alright, wasn't going to drink anyway cause of this stupid cold. We unpacked and by then it was dinner time so we headed to Beale Street. OMG what a sight, for 3 blocks of it they block the street off for pedestrians only and it's like a mini marti-gras. Talked to one of the girls I know before I left and she suggested Rum, Boogie for a great band, which we ended up eating dinner there too. OMG the bbq ribs were to die for, the pulled pork was ok but oily. Got our hands stamped so we could get back in later to see the band. Walked over to one of the many junk stores and they were closing in 10 minutes, too bad they lost a ton of business. Got some belly button dusters for my dad as a gag gift and wanted to look for something for my swap buddy, tons of expensive memorabilia but since they were closing didn't have time to find anything. Oh well. Other junk stores had nothing but junk, so that's not ok either. At 8 we went into another restaurant and sat outside and had oysters on the half shell, YUM!! Then at 9 back over to Rum Boogie, their band was awesome and they have played in the same restaurant for 15 years! That's dedication! Went back to the hotel around midnight, the cops came out and the crowd was getting dicy.
Got up at 7am Sunday, ate a little breakfast at the hotel, and decided since the humidity was slightly up, Dave doesn't like sweating whatsoever, we would do Graceland instead of the Botanic Garden. Poo. Boy Graceland has changed since the mid-80's. Love the audio tour of the mansion, the car museum was awesome, could live without the planes, not that big a deal to me. We left there at 12:30pm and drove home. Got to a town on the way and went to our favorite Chinese Buffet, then got home around 3:30pm. We unloaded the car of our whole 2 bags and reclined on the couch and went to sleep. We ate again around 8pm and back to bed we went. I feel so bad with this cold today but what do you do, hoping someone will come up to me and say, "Christine, you look horrible, go home and I'll cover the phones til 5." Don't think that's going to happen though.
Good Morning!
Oh, yikes Betty, sorry bout the room! Well i bet you enjoyed your bath and bed last night, glad you got a good rest!
Sounded like you had a good time though minus the room part...Got to give Kyle some good thoughts for trying the Army Base, one never knows until they give it a whirl...lol, hope everyone doesn't give you a what for too bad, I sure thery are glad to see you home.
Mary...Know you are already at work...I am sure it will go well. So happy thoughts and all best for a good first day for you.
Liz, you are so funny...hmmm visit right around the corner, yikes still don't have pool up and running. Been too cold anyway...I am just frustrated with the whole thing. Phooey, will try again in couple of days.
Debbie, so glad you had a nice day for your birthday! Wedding and family sounds great.
Trisha, I hope you are resting too, how is the sore muscles? Your pond area is just lovely.
Tubby, oh my that "birdie's story always chokes me up...Been a while since I've read it so thanks.
OMG that fawn and pup on the couch way too cute!!
Bev, waiving hello to you and Sharon.
Crissy, oh big bummer on the cold...yikes, lots of rest drink warm lemmon water, hope you don't end up with strep. yuk.
Oh My gosh, someone is baking! I can smell cake, lol I must be hungry...going to have a grilled cheese and watch my Show, Army Wives, I tape it so i can watch uninterupted Mon morning!
So i made my weekend post so here it is all copied and pasted.lol...
Good Morning!
Had a great weekend.
To answer questions,.. Steve is much better today! Thank you for asking.
After that first day, which he was basically comatose for 15 hours.
LOL, has know idea of any of the procedure or any events after the fact.
So the kids got a real good look at what narcotics can do for a person.
Needless to say the man was starving by the time he was coherent enough to eat.
He had literally gone 24 hours with nothing to eat or drink, so I made him a small plate of lasagna just to put something in his belly, he doesn’t remember eating, lol. Also kept having him drink water!
LOL, you know I am water freak for healing so made sure he always had a full glass, plus he kept sweating, so mopped him down some…While he slept I ran to the store and got him a Salmon filet because I know if cooked right, it really tender! Never cooked it, myself so I was a bit nervous on cooking time…I broiled it . LOL, told Steve it was ready just as I started it, by time he was up and alert, dinner was ready, also made him mashed potatoes and peas…Enjoyed his soft meal, even Thanked me…lol doesn’t remember!! Sent him back to bed and he was out for the night.
Saturday He felt human again and we all could comprehend what he was saying…No more pain meds for him, thankfully Extra strength tylonol was enough.
Went to the Double Graduation party on Saturday. What nice family and friends they have.
The girls opted to stay home, which I wasn’t too happy about but turned it was good, The Boys They have 3 and graduates were from 8th and HS. We only saw them a couple of times! They played video games and boy stuff so girls would have just sat and watched. Anyway Jacob had a fun time and even got to swim.
They have a heated pool…All the adults had a great visit, and Steve and I met up with some Harley riders so made a route to meet up with them on Sunday for a cool ride!
Mary, This party was actually postponed and that’s the reason it’s so late…But actually it was real nice to have it so late as earlier we were running to so many other grat parties. LOL..
And we do have one more to attend! Again it was postponed for what ever reason, and I was glad because, I thought I had missed it, my bad and theirs too because they didn’t call to tell me, Steve found out when talking about a job with the Dad! Anyway when we got back the kids had a really nice fire going, so we enjoyed that for a few minutes, then we went to bed, exhausted!
Sunday Morning Steve got up bright and early and worked on all his paper and caught up with computer…
He ended up finding a new Cage for Skittles! MY gosh it’s huge. We got it at a great price tho. We decided he really need a bigger one so he can play, Feathers cage was just too small for him to play, fly and practice his tricks…So, we will take that one up to the house for when she visits…She seems to like it, lol I have to search for her though! She is doing pretty good, getting better on the “come here” and I swear she said hello the other day! She knows Grape very well…She love to fly around in the screen house and does somersaults on the screening, We moved a few of the chimes inside so she can make music, her favorite is the one I got in the swap, lol it’s a bird cage with a porcelin bird and she thinks its her friend, lol determined to get inside! She gets a little feisty at her freedom, so when she starts the biting thing, home she goes.
She love her belly rubbed, LOL I lay her on her back and tickle her, rub her under cheeks. Awe she is in absolute glory at this.
Then Steve and I went for our bike ride. Went to this really cool biker/marina bar called the Broken Oar.
Originally I wasn’t going to go, then Steve pulled the your always saying we don’t do anything together thing, you should come for a ride…Sigh, ok I’ll go. Ended up having a great time! Music, food and drinks, check out all the bikes and boats, good conversation…Then we were chatting at the table and Steve see this guy just across the way wearing a black t’shirt, it says: Autistic Kids Rock. With a guitar next to it!
So we talk about how cool it would be to gift my brother a shirt like it, and have one ourselves. So I walked over and had a Chat with the guy, He told me it was his nephew with Autisism, I told him of mine (can‘t remember his name) Anyway his sister runs this Website and where I could order shirts…He was telling me I was the 4th person to ask about the shirt, said he should have brought a dozen, yes I agreed. LOL, now I had had a few beers so I couldn’t remember the name of the site and no paper so I said hey how about a trade?? My shirt for yours! He busted laughing and says really? I said yeah, but let me go ch with my Dh first since he gave me this shirt…I was wearing my black sleeveless shirt that said “wish you were beer”
Lol. Also my jean jacket as it was a tad chilly. So walk back over to DH, tell him a bout the trade, he says sure, I can get you another at the Ram! So I go smiling back over make the same proposition and the guy and his buddy are still giggling over it…He says your gonna change right here? I said sure I am a seasoned camper, LOL…can make the change right under my Jacket so I finally he agrees and I quick get out of my shirt and put his on, he puts mine on and My group of people start cheering!! LOL, then had to take pictures of the trade and he starts texting his sister…We text a photo to my brother as well…Steve told the guy “good trade” and we all went home cheerful!
And that was the weekend!
Have a great Day everyone...
Betty, i have enjoyed reading about Jeffs trip...anything but bored with it, like Debbie hold my breath a couple of times. I will look forward to photo's when he posts them.
Skittles doing sumersaults!
OMG Skittles is just too cute..he certainly found a great home when he moved in with you all...
You are amazing me with your cooking, wasn't it but last year you DIDN'T cook??? Steve has to be impressed...painful getting the teeth out, bet he's glad that is over with...
You have such a busy schedule..
Too cute, exchanging t-shirt for t-shirt...crazy lady!! lol
Judy do you enjoy motor cycle riding?
Forgot to add,
"Tubby" so enjoyed all of the articles...thanks for taking time to post them..how will you tell if the seeds are viable???
Are you harvesting anything in the garden? if not, how much longer do you think it will be...
Debbie I think they (Hibiscus) are to big for a pot..
Betty you dampen a paper towel..Sprinkle seeds on fold it up place in baggie..Check on in about 5 to 7 days..They will have a little root..Plant in small container..Let the get up about 5 or six inches..Start the hardening off process..Out in shaded area..Gradually full sun..Couple Hrs each day..Depends on how hot it is...First three days is there critical period..Same with most anything you have to harden off..
We've had peas, beans, beets, squash, onions, radishes...Our first sweetcorn Saturday..
We don't like cooking in microwave..Taste is different..
But this post by Gymgirl on self contained box gardening is really good. And fast..
Leave the corn in the husks and nuke 'em in your Microwave Oven. One large ear = 3 minutes. One Medium ear = 2.5 minutes. Small ear = 2 minutes. After the oven "dings" let the corn sit it the husk for an additional minute. Get two paper towels. Hold the corn with one towel. It will be very HOT! Use the other paper towel 2 peel back the husks. Sort of wipe the ear in a downward, twisting motion. The steaming seems to make the kernels expand, so the silks are released and should wipe off almost completely.
This corn will have a nutty, roasted flavor. It is so naturally delicious, I don't even reach for salt OR butter anymore! Try it. You'll like it - 'Ah Guarantee' Cher!
You can do more ears in a batch. Just try to keep all the ears a uniform size per batch. I use a loose "guess-timate" on total cook time. Like 6 lg ears @ maybe 16 or 17 minutes. Better 2 go a bit below than 2 overcook. The steaming in the husks will compensate.
Linda just take easy.
Crissy GOOD LUCK..ENJOY
Tubby, has your new blood kicked in yet...feeling better, stronger??? do hope so...
Sweetcorn..I could live on corn..passing the field yesterday and on my way to work today, the stalks are about 1/2 the size they usually are..by now we are usually eating our own corn, now we import until ours is ready...
Do you put sugar when you boil your corn?
Hey Tubby, that corn cooking sounds good! I have never tried it in the microwave!
Betty, why do you add sugar to the corn when you boil it? Ours is so sweet so we usually grill it.
Todd is back to work full time now! He still gets tires pretty easy, but he is getting there. He keeps blaming it on the age thing!
Betty, sounds like you had a great busy week-end.
LK
Betty The blood helped..But lack of sleep is kicking my hiney..Did do good last night about 5 hrs..Never did like a beer after I eat..I was so thirsty for something with a bite..So I had a beer 45 minutes later took a Ambien..Shirley had gone to bed..I woke up asleep in front of computer..LOL went bed....
Don't know if Shirley puts any sugar in water..The microwave cooking recipe was very good..Surprised us both..
Betty when I was at lunch earlier I passed 3 Energy trucks from Ayr, Ontario. Thought it was strange they would be this far south.
Thank you everyone for the congrats and good luck, I'm gonna need it and I won't see anything for at least a year, but at least I know something's happening :)
LOL Tubby I've done that before, not on Ambien just because I was overly tired.
This cold is kicking my hind today, it got BAD.
Skittles is SSSSSOOOOOOO Cute!!
Judy, Skittles looks just great! I can tell that is one happy little bird.....and I can hear your pretty happy with him also.
Crissy...get that salt and gargle with warm salt water. If your sick, you can't come see Betty! LOL
Tubby, I was thinking of putting them in the pots for starting....not growing them all the way in there. Any idea...once they sprout up....how fast they grow? From seed to 8 inches in......3 months? 6 months? Can you tell I am getting excited at the prospect of growing them?
I am getting ready for a 20 minute nap think....can't keep the eyes open.
Debbie
Just back from lunch...tired..Kyle said he's coming over to visit tonight..I'm hoping it's early otherwise I'll be in bed sleeping...
Darlene called 3 times over the weekend..she hasn't been well, they think she has a detached retna (?) saw specialist in Orillia hospital yesterday, contacted her specialist today but they are off Mondays...
Cathy said Ann came over to check up on me..saw black truck in theyard, not my car..passed the house 3 or 4 times and started to get worried..nice to be missed..lol
Crissy shouldn't you be at the Dr.'s???
Naw, it's a head cold. My throat quit hurting for the most part, but now I can't breathe!! If I still have this in two weeks I better be in the hospital. It'll be gone by then Debbie.
Betty don't forget to schedule any hotels you're going to need before your trip, don't want you to run into that problem again (I'm sure you don't want to either) I'm so glad you have someone to check on you Betty lol! I'm trying to decide if I want to drive up Saturday and spend the night or just drive up early Sunday morning. I really don't want to do the drive twice, but I'll be by myself so that changes things...
Falling asleep here, yawning, thank goodness all clients are in other offices...Cathy just e-mailed me, woke me up..lol...
she says..
HI BETTY JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF YOU ARE STILL A WAKE, YOU CAN HIT ME ANY TIME. HAHAHAH CHILI IS ON THE MENU TONIGHT FOR YOU. CATHY
Cathy
Guess I don't need to be cooking supper..lol..aren't friends grand....
that sounds great Betty....maybe some fresh bread or cornbread with it.
I made the bacon ranch potato salad....first time. I hope DH likes it. Having some cube steak and steamped snow peas.
Oh yay Betty! Friends are grand!
Debbie, Cathy must have called you..I've got chilli, homemade muffins and some cookies..might keep it for tomorrow, rather tired tonight..not even hungry, of course we had a late lunch..
OMG my gardens look as though they are late fall blooming..I can see what's coming..before August arrives it will all but be finished for the season..how very disappointing...
This poor lily is fighter for light..
