The Long View 2009 #3

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Thanks Victor, lots of color now, but we are leaving for awhile so I will miss a bunch of the lilies which makes me crazy sad. Friends are staying in our house, so they will enjoy it. Another view. Patti

Wow! Love the shot with the 'lavender walk'. Gorgeous.

Yes - that's the one bummer about going away during the gardening season!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thankyou guys. It is raining again here too. The good thing is I smushed at least 20 more of the slimy slugs this am. :)

Patti your garden looks wonderful . The daylilies make me very envious. A lot of blooms this year but also a lot of fungus and streaking from all the rain. The later buds are better since we have been having more sunny days. That last pic is really nice, love the colors.

So I got fungus too? What is this nasty stuff???? But the lilies are looking great so far. Patti

I cant figure out why my picsa files arent the same on both computers.
My laptop has a different web browser maybe thats it.
Are your lilies blooming?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've had that weird stuff too, Patti. If you step on it a black powder comes out.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh ya the dog vomit fungus. Yuck. I don't know the real name for it but that's what I call it. LOL It's really gross.

This one is special with an amazing scent and it is about 7' tall which is a lot taller than I expected. We planted them in 2006.with a climbing rose 'Flutterbye' which I love too. Patti

8.75 for 5 raspberry with yellow heart 3' to 4' july and aug Orienpet Lily Satisfaction
Fabulous paired with Orienpet Lily Honeymoon, it is deep raspberry-red with a beaming yellow heart and ever so narrow, yellow-white petal margins. Combining the stature of the Chinese Trumpet Lily with the exotic beauty of Oriental Hybrids, Orienpet Lilies have a subtle fragrance reminiscent of raspberries and roses. This variety puts on a particularly spectacular show since its huge flowers are both upward and outward-facing. Bulb size: 14/16 cm. July/August. 3’ to 4’. HZ: 4-8.

The color match method works, now if I could remember to check the bloom time I'd have the whole thing knocked . lol

Wha, loving all your amazing work, especially happy to see your stone arch still standing and I call double dibs on that empty hammock. What a spot! Your bird houses are amazing, but you must know that I think that every time I see them. Everything looks so healthy. Your pairing of that amazing Shirazz and Bloodgood looks great, but I would think about moving that mop head hydrangea next to them, as it is a tad to voluptuous next to those elegant and refined Japanese Maples. But that is hardy a complaint, as it your work is fabulous. Perhaps when the Japanese Maples get bigger the scale will be fine. I just had to complain about something, while I sit here green with envy! Patti

thx patti - i hear you about the ES hydrangea - another next to a viridis jm has taken over this year - third year in for them and they have gotten much bigger - for the one you mention it will stay as there is also one across from it and they act as and "entrance" to the garden area and i will patiently wait for the jm's to grow to get things back to scale - both should get to 15' at maturity - for the other one i will need to expand the bed and move it away from the viridis next spring.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

btw patti you can see some of the pink geranium you gave me in the front of this post - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=6850103

they even have a couple flowers - most everything has made it except for the oakleaf hydrangea's, only one or two are still going.

The little blue spruce reminds me of my childhood home. I was 4 when parents bought it & it was above the telephone wires when I married at age 23. Lovely landscaping all around.
