Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm not in a good mood, having a frustrating day and want to go shopping to rid of it! Ms. Cheerful isn't so cheerful this week like she was last week. hhmmmmmmm

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Well I'll add mine to the list...I have that old stomach virus and boy am I sick. Prayers for all in need, and i think that covers everyone. love to all.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Yuk Faye. Take it easy and drink plenty of liquids, as hard as that may be.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

whew I made it to a new thread.. lol

Thank you all for your warm welcome back to teh board. I have missed you all very much..

Work is going very well. The people in this town have reminded me hy I was so happy to return. I really didnt nknow what I would be able to do getting started in a new shop but all the customers are very welcomming. With time it will get even better but for now things are alittle tight. I love coupons.. lol Max is on a 3 night a week schedule driving a sweeper truck for a friend/family member. It will eventually be full time but for now every lil bit helps.

Its nice having family around especially getting the girls for the summer - well until august 2nd. Teara and her dad had a falling out yesterday and she went home for a few days or a week to cool off. She decided it was okay to slap him n the face when she got angry and when he pinned her down and told her the ground rules and that it was unacceptable she decided she wanted to leave. She was really angry but she was lucky it was him and not me... Trina said she wasnt leaving even after summer.. I think Tearar was testing her limits and she can walk all over her mom so it freaked her out .. Better now than later.. Tony & Tristen are thrilled wiht either of them being her or both and have really been happier since we have been home. Great being able to get together with family and go to parks again..

Well my interent is flashing and max wants me upstairs since hes working tonight but I will be back.. LOL

HUggs

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ooh it's so lively tonight!!! Lolol!!

Hope you're in a better mood Crissy.

Not fun to have a stomach virus. Sometimes it takes days to clear that up Faye. Make sure you down some Pedialyte. Don't want you to get dehydrated.

Wow, Teara's certainly testing her grounds early. Glad you and Max believe in old fashion parenting.
Coincidentally, I had a call today from my sister (yes, one finally called after months of silence) to complain of another sister who lets her kids do whatever they want. All I can say is to this unconventional sister to better prepare herself for future prison visits ;)

Very weary today. My body is so tired that I can't even rest.. ever get that way? And thanks Marilyn, for the hugs. I certainly need it.
Now I know why I am 'rotund'. It's to prepare me for the days I forget to eat....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

First chance I have had to sit down today...don't know if I can keep this up. Started at nine this morning......The pond is in, the pond plants that I am keeping are in....the old pond is toast and now buried under the new planting bed....rock is surrounding the new main bed and I have started a second new bed since I had some rock left over. Laura got all the dirt (clay and hardpan) from digging the pond loaded and dumped as base layer to give height to the new bed. Some of the river rock that will edge the bed has been put in....HD doesn't have bagged river rock now so have to find a new place to get some to finish up the edging. Still have a giant load of compost that has been out next to the garage for a year to put on top of the pond soil....will need to add a bit more topsoil to the bed if anything is going to grow there....got Scottish Moss, Creeping Thyme, and a few low growing garden herbs, a few Red Petunias for a spot of color...but need to get the compost and stuff spread and mixed in before I get the planting done. Have to be at MIL's tomorrow....:( It has been clouding up the evening so maybe we will get some rain and we can .put her yard off for a day or two...I could use the rest.

Sage had her first swimming lesson yesterday....wasn't sure she wanted to do that but when arrived she saw a lot of kids she new so in the end she had a great time!

Faye, I know what you are going through....I have been having a lot of stomach issues this month and am going to have to break down and get an appointment to see if we can find out what is going on...

Jaye I so miss having you here all the time....hope things go well with Murdock's scan...pleas tell him he remains in our prayers.

Believe me Jaye you don't want MY energy....I have none...I am running on sheer have to get it done will power.....what we all need is Betty's energy......

Donna glad things are going well with your job and that you are back with family.....at times I really miss having extended family around....all we have here are our mothers and our kids...

All I have missed tonight please forgive me.....my body has just about ceased to function for the day and my brain is not far behind.....

Keeping you all in my prayers....have a good night....will talk to you all tomorrow the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise..................

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Your garden will look so tranquil, blooms surrounding your pond.. and you'll have birds drawn to the gurgling sound too.
Please take care of your stomach, Trisha. Don't be stubborn like Bonnie!!!
Do rest dear sistah. Sorry if I always teased you on your energy. Can't help, but admire how you always push your own needs and time aside, just to help the ones you love.
You know yourself pretty well anyway.. so if your body says it needs rest.. listen to it will ya?

Good night, Trisha.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I can take the teasing and you know I love you.....just have to get the MIL's weeding done and the front yard here back in order so my Mom doesn't get all out of sorts (When momma ani't happy, ain't nobody happy) then I plan on heading to the doctor and getting some rest..between getting my own weeds dealt with....if I let the bindweed go much longer I won't even be able to find my back yard....that stuff, I swear you can watch it grow!!!

Good night Jaye, sleep well.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

OMG.........I have been dying here .....NO PHONE for over 2 days.........NO INTERNET !!!!!!!!!! It just came back on at 12:50am!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not addicted to plants, I'm addicted to you all !!!!!!!!!

Jaye you stay out of that sun !!!!!! Praying for Dock that pet scan is good.

Faye so sorry you have the flu....try and get rest and fluids. They have Pedialyte popcicles to,those would be good.

Crissy hope you have gotten in a better mood, shopping does help.Hope you get to go and have fun.

Trisha you need to slow down or you'll get run down......take a day for just you..........!!!!!!

Cody and everyone else hope you are doing good.......

Momma bought my pills, and a dear angel sent me a gift,GOD BLESS them both....and with what is let over from this pay I can go to Walmart and get groceries,on the last roll of TP and momma had given me that...LOL....yay!!!!!!! For the week or so I was sick poor Rick lived on cereal and bologna sand.,not to much in the house to cook.He is such a good sport.

Linda Kay how is Todd??

My Bee Balm that I dug up along the road last summer,it came back nicely.

Good Morning BSFs !!!

We got back last night, and were way too tired to wiggle... so we all crashed, and getting a fresh start this morning.

We left Monday morning and drove strait to our cabin by the Guadalupe River just outside New Braunfels, TX. Got there about 2pm. The kids got their feet wet in the river... and actually walked across the river to the other side... the river is about 17' low, and only about knee deep where we were staying.
We left about 4pm to go to my sister's house, about 15 miles away. Katy (the German exchange student who went with us) wanted to meet an American artist before she left to go back home. She was mesmerized at all my sisters art... and had one question after another about technique. She showed my sister her art on her facebook pages, and my sister seemed very impressed with her talent as well... I do think they could have talked for hours... but, we were all hungry, and met my BIL at the Gristmill Restaurant for dinner. It's an old cotton mill, kept in its original state... not even any air conditioning... and it has lots and lots of atmosphere. Had a wonderful time... and it was the first time Don and BIL ever met...
Tuesday morn, we got to Schlitterbaun Water Park about 10am. Don and I were so surprised that we kept up with the kids... we all had such a blast. It was 108*, and we wanted to stay in the water as much as possible... but to ride the rides, we had to stand in line a lot... one ride had us standing in line for an hour, for a 3 minute ride... but it was worth it... my favorite was the turbine... just a river that went all around the park... that had jets and wave makers that pushed you along... was so relaxing. We left the parks around 6pm, and drove back to the cabin to change for dinner.
New Braunfels is an old German settlement town, and has 3 old time German restaurants. So, Don and I decided to take the kids to the Freisenhaus Restaurant, and let Mike and Katy give us an education in German Foods. It's a family owned and operated by a German family. The wife greeted us at the door (dressed in the old time Bavarian costume)... (which by the way, Katy tells us they don't wear those anymore as a rule... just in old time celebrations). We introduced Mike and Katy, and they spoke some German. We all ordered something different, and shared with each other to enjoy the flavors they missed from home. Mike has missed his schnitzle, a lot... I could tell. The husband came to the table and greeted the kids in German, and they enjoyed hearing a little bit of home, I think. As we were leaving, we passed through the bakery part of the restaurant... and Mike pointed out the bread that he missed from back home... so I bought a loaf of it to try.
We were exhausted, and out tummy's were full... so we headed back to the cabin and crashed.
Wednesday morning, we decided NOT to bake in the sun for 2-4 hours on a slow moving river in a tube ... After Schlitterbaun, I think we'd all just be too disappointed. So, we decided to visit the Natural Bridge Caverns, and Wildlife Ranch. Don had been in the caverns back in the 80's, and I had been there right after they opened it to the public in the late 60's. It had changed quite a bit from back then... it's longer with new areas opened up... and the kids were in awe with all there was to see in there. It was also still 108* outside, but a cool 70* in the caverns. Then we drove through the wildlife ranch and saw wild animals galore. The zebra and ostriches came right up to the car to eat from our hands... but all the others kept far away from us.

Then we started home... about a 5 hour drive... and again... we were so exhausted when we got home.

I haven't caught up on much here... hope everyone is feeling well... but if not, hope you all feel better soon. If there's anything I need to know... poke me... ok?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I do have some excitement to talk about here at home though.

first thing I had to do when we drove up was to "walk the kingdom"... and discovered that I have at least 3 of my brugs with buds starting... one of them has 10 buds on it... I'm so excited... my first brug blooms are about to happen!!!!

Also, I got the neatest card from Juanita... with the cutest painted wooden dragonfly on it... she painted it herself... THANK YOU for thinking of me, Juanita... it's so special.

I also got some Candle Bush seeds from another DGer that he's trading me for some Cannas... now, I got to get those cannas in the mail... didn't do that before I left.

Jaye its true Teara is pushing early.. I worried that would happen but she knows teh rules and if she wants to come back she will have to be on her best behavior.. I wish I would have been here to talk to her before she left but its her choice and she made teh descision to leave.

Synda I love your bee balm.. I hope I can find a goody like that to dig up.. lol I pulled 2 baby buckeye trees last week but they didnt take the transplant very well. Only time will tell if they will make it or not.

I dont have alot of room inside but am workng on a shelf in teh basement or over wintering plants.. Hmm maybe just one or two brugs would be okay.. lol

Donna

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Bj, you ate dinner at the gristmill. That is where Todd proposed to me. We went there for dinner with some friends, and while waiting for dinner, he ask me the question! It could not have been a better night. Not to mention, the place next door, is where John Travolta made the movie Michael, where he was an Angel. It is a very nice place!
Well, looks like Todd and I will both be needing knee surgery. I tore my miniscus in my left knee about a month ago, when I stepped up on a curb, and felt something pull, and was quite painfull, but after a few days, it was OK.
Then, I guess when Todd passed out on me last week, Seems he twisted his right knee, and tore his miniscus also. So we both went to the knee Dr, this week, and sure enough, looks like we are both going to have surgery! When it rains it pours!

Trish, so glad to hear you have your pond in, sounds like you have been very busy in the garden. How is Laura doing with her smoking? Hope she is slowing down.

Synda, glad to hear your back online. Also to hear your doing a little better.

Cody, where you at? Any pictures of those new babies?

Faye, you make sure you go and get checked out. Get some good meds, to make that tummy pain go away.

Jaye, how are you doing?

Bon, you been to the neurologist yet? Any results?

Marion, how is that hand doing today?

I am off for an MRI, to verify my injuries, so I will talk to you all later.

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I did not know that, LK... about Michael being filmed there. I was told that that Dance Hall & Saloon is also in it's original condition from the mid 1800s, and has never been anything else besides a dance hall & saloon when it was built... was also told that it's a favorite hang out for Willie Nelson... and that a lot of famous singers have performed there... Sis and BIL asked if we wanted to go in for a beer and some dancing... but, 100+ temps and no air conditioning just don't mix, IMHO...

Too cool about Todd proposing to you there... would be a perfect night, and atmosphere for that.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It is growing in my angel garden, and we have no other plants, trees, etc... that look like this!
I hope it is not poison oak?

Tony and Tristen both know but she was so excited I was worried she would eat anything she found..

Hi all.

LK,i will take a picture of the babies later.I forgot to take one.

I will post a picture of boots when the pictures get through.

My sister's latest painting... I wanted it for myself so badly... but she painted it as a commissioned piece... and it was sold already.

I was trying to explain to my sister how my "Globe Amaranth" are looking differently this year than they did last year... I think we determined that last year they just didn't grow right in pots... this year they're in the ground.

Trisha I'm glad you got your pond in, you're going to love it.

LK that's not poison oak, remember the "3 leaves on a stem" rule, that doesn't have that. It looks like the weeds we get around here. Around here they're "wild plants" that grow for no apparent reason, I pull them. When it rains it definitely pours, no doubt about that. Here's a good pic of poison oak:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PoisonOakGreenPhase.jpg

BJ sounds like you had a good time, I'll have to read the whole thing in a bit.

Nice bouquet!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

We didn't take pictures at Schlitterbaun... just couldn't figure out how to keep the cameras dry when we're having fun... and didn't think to buy a waterproof camera before we got there... so, no pics from the park.

Also, pics didn't come out real well in the caverns... but here's one that shows the millions of years of work that mother nature has done for our viewing pleasure.
