Garden Photos of '09 ... #29
I am known to complain about the slopes (sorry all who have heard this way too many times)... but I have bad ankles and this place is just torture to me... but I didn't know I was going to be a gardener when I bought the house... live & learn
well I am off to go get mulch... have a great day all!
oh and now I can see why you can't get mulch in there... pretty bed though
Nice shots Leighton
shelly what is the name of the conifer?
Beautiful blue color -Mathilda Guges...
yes love that blue Willie!!
Have daylilies blooming today, no pics till the weeding gets done!
Very pretty Maria!
Willie.... love that hydrangea.
Bill.... I had the name of that hing in my mind all day yesterday and now I can't remember. It'll likely have to wait until aI get home on Monday and can get at the name tag. Hopefully I'll remember before then, but I doubt it!
Bill..... Ok, I'm 95% sure that it's Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Summer Snow'. I really had to do a lot of looking through definition to find that since all that I could remember was that it had either 'snow' or 'white' in the name, but also that it wasn't 'snow white.' lol

Robindog, Those Nicotiana are a cool color. You should save seeds from those!
very nicw Marilyn
Thanks, all!! I am really liking the blue, too!
Hey, Victor .... I think I may have IDed your "B/F" (Moth) while trying to research Veggie Garden Pests!
See if you think this is it ... I have a hunch it is the:
Imported CabbageWorm / Moth

For an F.Y.I. to anyone else interested,
The Cornell University WebSite for NYS Integrated Pest Management is Awesome!

They have an excellent page listing Vegetable Garden Pests

Good idea about saving the seed----wonder if it will come true to original plant? Same lady who stopped last week to look at garden brought me some pink SI today--gave her some blue in return. Worked out there for several hours, & I feel a little better about the garden.
Thanks Robin! I agree, that's why I like it. I always seem to like the weird plants, regardless of whether or not the colors actually work in my yard. I love that nicotina of yours.
What a beautiful color, never seen it before on a nicotina
that was a photo from last year by the way
this is one I grew this year... that is also purple... but shorter... they aren't blooming yet

They must be remarkable when in full bloom
They are really but I get so caught up in the daily work and hybridizing that I often don't step back to see the real beauty! The fence you see in the background is the 30X70 garden.. I'll take one of my big square garden.. hopefully today when/if it's not raining.. lol!!
Is there atrick to germinating those Nicotiana? I had 3 packs and I think I have one seedling from them! Mine were the Red Perfume.
JoAnn - what is that pretty bi-color hot pink and white in the lower left corner of your first collage? Such pretty blooms!!
Leighton - what lovely gardens and property! I look forward to seeing them in bloom too!
Marilyn - love the color of that second lily! All very pretty shots!
all beautiful blooms Ge!!
wow LH... that's a lot of plants.. what you got growin in there??
Meredith... the trick is to use a strong spray bottle to push those tiny seeds into the soil without covering them... i do the same with my petunias
love that pink lily Robin
Very Pretty Jo Ann and Robin. Love them all.
Nice gardens Leighton.
