Cute! Riley is so teeny compared to the others. Lotta butt sniffing going on there, he hee.
Father Knows Best - Happy Fathers' Day! Coffee Break # 14
Well father's day was quite fruitful for me my oldest daughter from my 1st marriage has been given my xmother in laws home which I helped her landscape MANY years ago ,So daughter unbeknown to xmother inlaw came with oceans of things that needed thinning,Euonymus, myrtle,Lilly of the valley,Jack in the Pulpit, Hostas,etc.etc. The daughter #2 came with beautiful Iris from her garden and a huge Hydranger (form an exclusive nursery.Still don't have them all in the ground .
Nice.
Sof... have to remember the sniff is like a hello to them... LOL
nice haul GK... happy planting!
My dog can't stand getting his butt sniffed, but he insists on sniffing others. It's a riot!
My pointer-cross is aloof with other dogs---throws herself at people, however---the dale is just the opposite, loves dogs, hates people. The Yorkies are very cute---my DIL's sister has 3. Hope the rain doesn't keep you from planting for long, GK.
Peter:
What absolutely wonderful Father's Day gifts for you!!
Happy belated Father's Day to all you wonderfull daddy-o's. Victor I hope you let the kids out of the tree house to celebrate. Luvly card Pixie but what happened to the little mouse that was in the beginning? I can't find him/her at the end.
I think I saw the cat licking his lips.
:O
Hi dnut. Missed you!
Missed you too Victor. I've been busy trying to catch an earwig (how come I have only one earwig is beyond me) and looking at stones and singing Aerosmith tunes to my tomatos.
No singing stone tunes?
Actually I'm getting quite cranky about the patio stones cuz why can't we just get a mix of all the colours we like and load up the truck. I think natural stone patios are like a jigsaw puzzle; it will all fit together in the end. My DH thinks they are more like an engineering drawing of a spaceship; it will crash if not exactly so.
Aren't you supposed to start in the center and fit them together? Our last house, the idiot owner had started along one edge and then when he got to the other edge they were all chopped off - it looked silly.
I was thinking of starting with the stairs at the edge of the upper deck where it meets the house foundation and out and down the house. The stones are different sizes. The stone work is going to look something like this http://www.tclandscape.net/assets/patio3.jpg
stones should be set just like you would a tile floor - start with full tiles where eye most commonly fall and leave the cutting to where they will not be noticed - never start in the middle - start with full stone and work your way toward the least viewed area is.
wha you are my hero. That is so sensical ^_^
My eyes usually stay in - unless she's a real knockout! ^_^
RIP Farrah. What a shame.
There are reports that Michael Jackson died. He apparently had a heart attack. Hope it's not true.
dnut if that is where you would normally walk onto the patio that is where you should start - usually with stone and brick there is going to be some cutting almost everywhere.
i heard about Farrah today and that is sad - saw a show recenlly on how far she went to fight her cancer - if true, as far as the pedophile goes good riddance.
I saw the notice about Farrah too. It is sad.
There will be 3 entrys to the patio. One from the woodland garden, one from the main garden and one coming down the steps from the upper deck. The most visible part of the deck with no furniture and plantings will be the stone stairs (I big step I think) and the area coming out from the stairs. I will take some pics after I have a refreshing beverage with my DH. O look it's refreshing beverage time ^_^
Isn't the big area in the middle where your eye falls as opposed to the edges? You're certainly supposed to minimize cutting views.
carrie the middle is taken care of from where ever you start.
refreshing beverage time here too - wife is out to dinner for work so now it is "Go Sox" time and watch John Smoltz pitch!!
I just saw the news report that Michael Jackson did die.
Yup, both he and Farrah.
There are reports he took demerol and stopped breathing.
My refreshing beverage was strawberry lemonade---a celebration for the work I did in the garden today---I'm also sorry about Farah---way too young---Michael Jackson was definitely weird.
What's demerol? Pain med?
Yes.
MJ was both brilliant & strange. Hope they both rest in peace.
Brilliant and strange should rest in peace??
Check out young Farrah:

Yeah, she was all the rage. Beautiful. She later got some critical acclaim for a tough role she did (battered woman?). I was glad she'd gotten folks to take her seriously.
Oh yeah, wasn't that a made for tv movie?? The Burning Bed or something like that? That was good.
Yes - Burning Bed. She did have talent.
I heard some producer today say MJ was the biggest musical talent OF ALL TIME!
Wow---guess I've been listening to the wrong stuff----I would've thought Mozart.
The guy actually compared the two.
Same talent, different era.
