Morning, Sistahs.
Lk, I'm fine... just a bit depressed...
I tried to call a few of you yesterday, just needed to hear a friendly voice... no answer at anybodies phone.
Cookie, won't Dynamite just sort of... I don't know... kind of... BLOW up the plants? LOL That's beautiful, though...
We did not go help herd cattle yesterday... so I don't have any "cattle herding" stories to tell.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞147
Good Morning All,
I love the dragonfly Cindy and the feet will look great with color.... Hey Kim how you doing?
It is true that when our loved ones get tired and when it is time allot of them know.. We are selfish at times and don't want them to go but we must let them.. I lost my Mom many years ago and it was her time after she tried for many years to fight it... I still miss her to this day,but I am glad she is not in pain like she was....
Ok BJ have been away for awhile so why are you depressed? I can't say I would answer my phone either because have been outside allot but if you ever want to call I would try to answer...
LK, did you have a wonderful birthday? Mine is coming up and age does not really bother me I am happy to say... I hope you had a really great day...
Ok off to play for a few... I keep you all and your family's in my prayers every night...
Hugs,
Turtlechi Head and legs fully out dancing in the yard.. ^_^
Well, compared to last years baskets, BJ....they do look blown up! ^_^
Synda, she is so pretty!
Thanks.
I really hope you enjoy your cake but I will have to pass as I don't like that kind...LOL Looks goods... So have an extra piece for me...
Hugs,
Susan
Hi everyone!
Lol... can't imagine a turtle dancing.. Susan, are the moves something like a ninja turtle? Hun, dance away..better that than sitting in a corner watching somebody else having fun!
BJ, I am so sorry. I think the Lord banded us together, those that you tried to call, so you won't be more depress!
I just checked the numbers.. sorry sweet sistah.. we were out till late and probably weren't able to talk as after effects of gluttony set in last night. Do hope your spirits are better now.
Synda, find something funny.. quick..
I love pineapple upside down LK! Just the cake isn't good for my blood sugar. I thought my late mum made the best, until I tasted my ex late mum's. It's the way she caramelized her sugar in a little butter or is it some flavored butter essence.
I am truly exhausted today. After church, I napped for a long while, woke up remembering to water the potted plants. I love the Lord and everything He makes, but I still don't understand why He creates mosquitoes!!!
Well, I better find something to eat. Stomach has settled.. now where is that box of microwavable bacon. See why I can't lose weight?
Hi,
Kind of like the Ninja Turtles as my boys always watched them and I still have a few in the basement... Add a little break dancing and you get the picture...LOLOL I agree about the mosquitoes and we have tons of them this year as we have had so much rain... Son was home this weekend and he took us out to eat so that is why I can't lose weight...LOLOL I give up...
Hugs,
Susan
mosquitoes? I live in Mosquitoe city, USA! lol
I try to keep any water vessels empty at all times. I put mosquitoe biscuits in the pond, and the rain barrels. the chemicals in the pool keep them from laying eggs in there, but still they come! from where?
It's ok, Jaye... I finally got hold of LK today, and bent her ear a while. Just had some issues to resolve, and needed a friendly ear to listen to me talk.
Still no resolution.
But, I have to go now to deliver Millie to her mommy, Phyllis... she's on her way home from Austin, via just down the street from me...
I can't get away from them as I have big creeks on two side of our land so we get them so big they can carry you away... Glad you got to get your problems settled... Always good to tell a friend ^_^
Hugs,
Sue
Did everyone read BJ's post???? She's going to return Millie! Now she had plenty of time to get her over the border to one of you that really wanted her. :)
Like I told Maid M.. keep those mosquitoes there! I was in the Keys for a couple months.. you all have your own squadrons for the mosquitoes!
Thought I'd share this info.
About Heart Attacks
There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently.
Note: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack.
The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pa in may wake you up from your deep sleep.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards
- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by
- say "heart attack!"
- say that you have taken two aspirins.
- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and...
~ do NOT lie down ~
And this warning from an email:
"On March 24, 2009, I stopped at a gas station in Lewiston. My truck's gas gauge was on 1/4 of a tank. I use the mid-grade, which was priced at
$2.21 per gallon. When my tank is at this point, it takes somewhere
around 14 gallons to fill it up.
When the pump showed 14 gallons had been pumped, I began to slow it down.
Then, to my surprise, it went to 15, then 16. I even looked under my truck to see if it was being spilled. It was not.
Then it showed 17 gallons on the pump. It stopped at 18 gallons. This was very strange to me, since my truck has only an 18 gallon tank. I went on my way a little confused, then on the evening news I heard a report that 1 out of 4 gas stations had calibrated their pumps to show more gas had been pumped than a person actually got.
Here is how to check a pump to see if you are getting the ri ght amount:
Whichever grade you are using, put EXACTLY 10 GALLONS in your tank, then look at the dollar amount. If the dollar amount is not EXACTLY 10 times the price of the fuel you have chosen, then the pumps are rigged.
In my case, as I said, the mid-grade was $2.21 9/10 per gallon; my dollar
amount for 10 gallons should have been $22.19. I wish I had checked the pump. It doesn't matter where you pump gas, please check the 10 gallon price. If you do find a station that is cheating, contact the state
Agriculture Department, and direct your comments to the commissioner, the info is on the gas pumps.
LK glad you had a great birthday!!! Oh the cake looks good!
Kim get some rest, sounds like you have been way busy girl….stay safe.
Susan, glad you are back and dancing….I’d dance but got no energy left.
Same here BJ, I think you are programed in so I. hear the phone I will answer it
Laura and I finally finished up Dorothy’s yard today. Got all the shrubs and heather trimmed so she can now get down the pathways and out of the car in the driveway without being in the bushes….weeded out the last flower bed, and grubbed out a twenty by twenty section fo dead grass where she had been dumping old flowerpot soil under the tree by her house….all rocks and roots…it was a job. Mom’s hedge trimmer died half way through so we had to finish up with hand clippers….going to look at new trimmer tomorrow. Mom is going halves with us on a new one.
Came home and did another r half hour of weed and water on my own stuff. Now waiting to take the steaks off the grill….once I sit down inside I may not get up again. Taking tomorrow off then tackling Doris’s place on Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a good night.
Hey Marilyn I saw that post ....LOL Yes BJ has had Millie all to herself since last weds....spoiling her rotten of course too.
It worked out good we came back up 35 to hit 31 to get home and it was going right past the road that would take me down to BJ and that way it saved her a trip and such to meet me tomorrow...LOL
THANK YOU NANA BJ for taking such good care of my baby for me I appreciate it ever so much !!!!!!!!!!
She went wild when BJ pulled up and I opened the travel case and she was so silly almost all the way home wiggling, giving kisses and going to the back seat and back to the front.
They are always glad to be back with their own Human, no matter how well they are treated. And doesn't it make you feel good that they missed you so much?
Morning Ladies...
Yep...Millie kept me hopping, and was so adorable when she was staying with me... she's quite a little lady.
Phyllis... we learned a new game... try putting an empty coke can on the floor and pushing it with your foot... roll it, and twirl it... she's so funny trying to get up the courage to approach it.
Don't have long this morning... Don and I are going to the county tax office to protest our property tax. They raised our taxes this year. Last time we protested, they lowered our taxes from what it was before they raised it.
Just remember ladies... if you don't protest, you have to pay what they say... if you do protest, there's always the chance they'll lower it.
Then, we're coming home so Don can install the XM radio in the little red pepper, and new spark plugs in the jet skis.
Ya'll have a good day.
Good Morning!! LK I hope you had a wonderful birthday, sorry I missed it!
I'm going to try to catch up in a bit.
I have something to tell ya'll but I can't on the public forum, so I'm going to figure out, once again, how to do an email blast. I got my new camera Friday and took a slew of pics, put them on Picasa to give you a link to them, but our new firewall has blocked Picasa and Kodak's online picture gallery, so I guess I'll have to make ya'll wait :(
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Morning everyone. Hope you all had a great week-end.
Bj, it was s onice to tal to you, and I hope all is better now, or at least working on it? ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
Glad to hear that Millie is back home, with mam Phyllis! I know she missed Mille too! How did the bus rodeo go! I think that is what you said you had to do?
Wow, Trisha, you are working so hard on that yard, but I bet it looks so much better now!
Cody, how you doing today? Any new pretties, or babies to show off? Your flowers are so pretty!
Todd and I were in the pool yesterday afternoon, and I got stung on the neck by a stupid wasp! Those things hurt so bad!!! I had to come in and take a couple of benadryl real quick, to avoid any allergic reaction! Then I crashed and went to bed. All is fine today. Still a little sore, but OK! I HATE WASP's!!!
Well I don't have time to figure that out, so I'll just say do you remember a raise I mentioned a long time ago? Well, I got it!!!!!! Starts July 1st!
Crissy, that is great news! Congratulations!
Good morning everyone.
Sorry if I have been neglecting this thread.. seems my days grow longer everyday with so much to do. When night comes, Kel uses the pc and when he's through, I've already crashed!
Cody, I want a fan of that last daylily!! Love anything that has a nice orchid color. Hope your Angel is getting stronger.
Trisha, I need someone to help weed around here. Kel kept pushing off getting help, and it's my money that's going into this! Sad thing is there are a bunch of bramble bushes to be razed, and he was the one that wanted black berries.. and thy all turned out sour! There are kids that I could hire, but they rather go to the beach than earn some money on the weekends!
So, to distinguish between the lilies and the weeds.. sadly I have to look for the scapes!! I can't bend down too much, cuts off my breathing.. next time I buy lilies, I'll make sure they grow up to 36inches tall.
The only selective weeding I do are around the brugmansias. That alone is a daily job.
Congrats Crissy! That will make all your aggravations at work tolerable at least.
Phyllis, I am sure Millie will never let you go out of her sight. She'll be watching you like a hawk!
When we left for BJ's, the housesitter said Lola kept giving her vicious stares.. Unlike Millie, she's quite anti social!!
Well BJ, the state of NC decided to raise more taxes and introduce new ones! This state is not the richest in the nation and I don't know how they can squeeze blood out of turnips... but they do.
Worked in the garden today, picked some fresh blueberries. And mosquitoes followed me LK.
Ouch! Wasp!! Poor you. Any stingers, just make a tobacco poultice, that will draw out venoms. Yep, Benadryl has rescued me many time!
Noisemaker just called, on his way home. So we're off to Lowe's, gonna get some Dynamite as Cookie recommended, then to lunch.
Think I'll use Dynamite for the potted plants since I'm using the cotton compost for the ones inground. Whether it's okay to mix them together.
Well, we sat in the tax appraisers court for 2 hours, and heard the first 15 cases... then decided we really had nothing to complain about... so, we removed our protest from the docket and left. Fact is, if they actually were taxing us on the improvements we have made, we'd be much worse off... so we decided not to call attention to it... LOL... it's not all that bad.
Some people up there really got screwed this year... ours only went up a drop compared to some of the buckets we saw today.
I think it is a shame, how they keep raising taxes on all our properties!
BJ, have you thought about homesteading! it will drop your taxes alot. You can own more than one home, but the one you are living in can be homesteaded, and if by chance something happened, and you could not pay your taxes, they can't take it away from you. Todd and I did this a few years ago, and it really helps.
Just go down to the office where you pay your taxes and tell them you want to file for homesteading. Real easy!
LK... we filed homestead the year after we bought the house... we had to wait till we had been here in a "January" to file... but as soon as we could, we did. You're right, it did help.
What we found out today, that we didn't think about before we protested was that two houses sold last year for more than our property was assessed at... so, they increased the value of all the homes in our neighborhood. But hey, we only got a $15K increase in value... a drop in the bucket compared to what they could do to us if they actually come out here and look around.
Pretty sad that your property goes up, just because everyone around you has more expensive homes! Yeah, I think you were right, to not bring attention to it.
Sounds like taxes went up in NC too!
LK
Afternoon everyone......
LK I think Dorothy's place does look a lot better. Our places are small here....when we do weeding and clipping everything goes into big black garbage bags, we put them on the curb and the maintenance crew picks it up. Her yard is only a little larger than my 43 x 20 and we had nine big bags stuffed full!
crissy, congrats on the raise!!
Jaye, sure wish I was close enough to help.
BJ, glad things worked out.
Have to run, Bill is going to help out with things around here today.
good afternoon ladies, just lurking and browsing. Have you all seen this wisteria? It's a monster! Can you just imagine the sweet smell it produces. over 1, 500,000 blossoms, weighs 250 tons, 500 foot branches, more than one acre in size and grows between 24" in 24 hours to 26" within 48 hours

this site tells the story. it started in a one gallon nursery pot. amazing
waving hello - trying to kill 15 mins. before I start cooking.
about to go online to look for chicken and rice or chicken and broccoli recipes. sometimes I get so discouraged with online recipes, but I'm "in a mood" for these dishes - don't think I've ever made this for Randall or Ruth! I stopped cooking with sauces when I married this picky eater.
saw BJ's post about their tax appraisals. Raleigh got hammered - they came out and Randall never showed me ours. About hit the roof when I saw it. It's got to be about $45k too high. That's before the market tanked. our home today is worth $20k less than one year ago according to everyone I've talked to, appraisers and such. Unfortunately, by the time I found out, the time to appeal was over.
Marilyn that wisteria is beautiful! Wow, can you imagine one so huge it crushed the house? I think my hubby would have cut it back a long time ago!
LOL - I found a recipe for chicken and rice "for engineers"
should be interesting - they gave almost NO amounts!
I've put it off long enough too, Bon... got to go cook something now... DARN... another decision to make... I'm so tired of always having to decide what's for dinner.
We scrutinize that tax bill every year when it comes... when we owned the business a few years ago, we got a tax bill that doubled from the year before... laid on Don's desk till the day after the protest was due... and we could do nothing about it then... he had his dates mixed up, and thought we had another week. NOW, we pay really close attention to it.
LK can you imagine how big the base of that wisteria must be? I would like to go see this someday. that's all the cross country though for me. lol
BJ, I'm with you. why is it that they expect us to always come up with the menu?:) and taxes? Hate taxes, my property value goes up every year it seems.
LK, was it you that said if it's homesteaded and you fall behind on taxes, they can't take it? how is that?
Hi LK,i'm doing good and not up to much today.I haven't check for new flowers today.
Hi Jaye,Angel, is doing good.
Ok I beez here again. Haven't been able to post much as I have been sick since Friday evening--long/short: cat bit; infected; no use of right hand; hunt and peck with left; 'lil red hot sausages for fingers, swollen ,had shot and antibiotics for next 15 days. That's it in a nut shell!! No reason why it happened!
Mom home and doing fine--thanks so much for prayers!!!!! Will have spot checked out by pulmonary doctor and attempt to reschedule surgery end of July or early August.
Belated happy birthday Linda Kay.
Phyllis, I am upset!!! I wanted to keep Millie.
