Living in Eastern Oregon, we are subject to heavy frost and even snow clear into June. We have not had very good luck with tomatoes since we started planting a garden 3 years ago. I ordered 15 Wall O Water plant protectors and 3 Kozy Coats. I was expecting them to take about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive. Imagine my surprise when a week later they were delivered. My husband immediately went to the nursery and got 18 tomato plants and planted them yesterday, and yep we had frost last night but the Walls O Water and the Kozy Coats kept the tomatoes nice and cozy. I have a feeling we are going to have a bumper tomato crop this year. Can anyone say Salsa..... Thanks again for your prompt delivery.

I think I'm just repeating what everyone else has already stated before me... but I'll add my 2 cents also. I ordered a variety of herbs and vegetable plants. They were shipped very quickly, were packaged very nicely and the plants themselves were in much better shape than ones I've purchased in past years from local "home improvement" stores. Plus, the total cost with shipping and everything was less than I would have spent had I bought them locally.

I'm VERY happy with this company and will definitely order from them again. Their communication was excellent as well. Great customer service.

Bad Plants, Careless Shipping
This was my first use of the company: dry goods shipped fine, but the four plants shipped were a disaster: Out of four plants, two arrived with stems severed at the base, and all of them were spilled from their pots. Three were tomato plants and they were so rediculously elongated that they could not stand on their own when repotted, but fell over the pot like extended vines: exactly opposite to what on their own site they suggested were the best kind of plantings, namely short and fresh growth. No response to a request for refund. I'll be stickiing to Walmart for seeds and local Garden Centers from now on.

I liked the assortment and quality of the merchandise offered. Confirmation and shipment was quick and accurate.
With that being said I am only giving them a neutral rating because of the shipping cost. My order was approx $35.00 and the shipping was $18.50. I consider charges like these as nothing but back door profits. Half that would of been reasonable.
In the future I will definitely spend a little more time shopping around.

On February 19th, 2009, 1SickPuppy added the following:

I would like to thank Joe for his fast response to my rating. Your concern about my satisfaction doesn't go unnoticed.
As he stated I could have canceled my order before the final commitment, but I ordered the product as stated. I was assuming that it required some special packaging or handling but it didn't appear to.
It was not two packages and I would barely call it one. It was a large stick with a small stick taped to it (a hoe and a knife). No special wrapping just a little tape holding the two sticks together and a shipping label. The items arrived in good shape although I would of appreciated a packing slip/invoice.
Thanks again for your concern.

On February 20th, 2009, 1SickPuppy changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

I could not be happier with the way this issue was settled.
I am changing my review from neutral to positive because of the attention if received from Joe. It turns out it was a minor oversight that caused my previous neutral rating.
In all the purchases I have made on-line I have never seen anyone put so much effort into making sure his customer was completely satisfied.

Dear 1SickPuppy: I am sorry you feel this way about the shipping charges. I can tell you that we do not consider shipping as a back door profit. I can also tell you that we do not enjoy losing money just to ship something when it is purchased. Without knowing what product/products you ordered, I can not tell you why; however it sounds like there may have been two boxes involved, which makes double shipping. Also not sure which shipper you choose but both UPS and USPS charge for every box that is shipped. Every time a customer checks out, their shipping amount is shown before they process the order, so they can cancel the order if they do not want to pay for shipping charges. If you will contact us, I will be glad to discuss your order. It really looks like multiple boxes may have been shipped. Thanks for being our customer, Joe

I have ordered mums from Garden Harvest Supply (GHS) in the spring of each of the last two years. Both times the plants came carefully packaged, healthy, and ready for planting. All of the mums grew to be very large and beautiful plants by the fall blooming time.

This spring I had the pleasure of talking with Tina from GHS. I was concerned that this year's mum offering was at a higher price. Tina mentioned that the plants were now being offered in a three-inch pot instead of two-inch pot. I told her that the less expensive, smaller plants were better for me. I have been extremely pleased to find out that Joe Stutzman and Tina from GHS put together a fifty-plant mum collection for an extremely attractive price. I cannot say enough good things about Garden Harvest Supply and the way they went out of their way to make a customer happy. That is outstanding service. I look forward to ordering more mums this year and know that GHS will stand by their promise to provide great service to their customers. I highly recommend Garden Harvest Supply to my gardening friends.

I am a 19 year old male and a beginner gardener, I planted 9 brandywine heirloom tomato plants in my garden this year, and it was late in the year, but we don't get frost until very late november or sometimes in December, so I'm hoping I have plenty of them, but I still wanted to plant some more plants.
I went to a lot of stores in my area looking for plants, vegetable plants were nowhere to be found, so I finally came to realize that it was too late in the season, and that I would have to wait until next year to plant more plants, I really was looking for pepper plants, some pear tomatoes and a sweet million.
I did a search online and most of the sites that sold vegetable plants had stopped selling them, until I found 'Garden Harvest Supply', they had such a huge variety of plants and all of them were priced very low, it was kind of overwhelming, I had no idea which variety to get because there were so many, until I finally decided for 8 plants, 3 tomato plants, and 5 different pepper plants.
I ordered the plants on Sunday, July 27th and I received an e-mail on Monday that it had shipped, I thought I would have to wait a week to get them, but it was on my doorstep on Wednesday morning, the 30th. I was surprised of how fast everything was, I opened the box and it was filled with Styrofoam peanuts and newspaper, Every single plant was individually wrapped in cardboard on all four sides, A total of 9 plants, including a free gift plant which was a 'Bocapa Blutopia Blue', very nice plant and completely unexpected. All the plants were in great shape, except for the 'red pear tomato plant, most of the leaves were turning brown, and a pepper plant had lost most of its leaves along the main stem. Hopefully they will make it once I plant them in the ground. Most of the plants that I received had blossoms on them, one pepper plant had a pepper growing on it.
Over all It was a great experience ordering from the website, I would definitely do it again whenever I am in need of plants, I find that their prices are more affordable that the ones at the stores...
Garden Harvest Supply has found themselves another very satisfied customer, but if my tomato plant or pepper plant don't make it, you guys will be hearing from me.

Buying anything online is risky at best but buying living plants is even more so. I have purchased most of my hard to find plants online for the last 2 years. Dave's garden and Hirt's Garden are the 2 websites that I have found to have the biggest, freshest, healthiest and best packing for shipping.
The melon plants I just received from Dave's arrived in good shape no thanks to the postal service. Package was stalled in Indiana for 5 days. Thank goodness that they had been packed with care and although they were quite thirsty when they arrived, they have been transplanted and are doing well.
The Gardener's Choice online nursery is the worst place I have shopped and must say that Dave's has fair prices, fast shipping and so far no complaints as to products. I will buy from Dave's again.
