She replied and convinced me that no-one who had posted here had this type of experience with Autumn Ridge or frankly didn't know what they were doing. In the process of reforesting 70 acres we ordered from 4 different nurseries. I ordered 33 trees and a few free ones were tossed in totaling 41 trees, Of the 300 trees we planted this past spring only 41 did not make it. Guess where they came from ? I just called Autumn Ridge about returning them and had the pleasure of the rudest employee I have ever heard answer my call... I had a $153.00 order and was told they would give me a deal and resend everything for $40.00 more dollars. I was then kicked over to an " owner" who explained that they ship to 150,000 customers a year and if they had to replace everyones orders they would be bankrupt. He explained that he didn't know me and the 4 minutes of phone conversation was cutting into his work time . It was made very clear that as a customer, I was of little importance to them and the only way I was getting anything to show for my original purchase was to pay 33% of the initial cost again... On September 30th, 2008, attica_planter changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: Update from yesterday's message.. I received an email from Melinda stating she was going to replace my entire order during fall shipping at no cost to me. This is contrary to their written gurantee so I think it is out of the norm for them and certainly much different than what I was told on the phone yesterday by her associates. I'm looking forward to the order and hope I can salvage something from this entire process. Melinda is following through with her promise to me back in the spring and seems to be trying to make things right and keep my business.. If you have ordered from them I would recommend not speaking to anyone other than Melinda if you want to be treated with any kind of respect as a customer. |

On their first shipment, nothing survived except the free items and a rose bush that was not the color ordered. When I called in the beginning of May to report that, I was rudely told that I must call back at the end of May because it was too early. I live in NC and my garden was in full spring bloom - except for the plants from Autumn Ridge. I called back at the end of May and was told they would be happy to replace after I dug them up and shipped them back at my expense - which I did. I received another shipment. Since they are bare root plants and I'm not an experienced gardener, I had no idea what I was planting. They have finally bloomed and I have a bed full of hibiscus plants - all exactly the same color. They were supposed to be dianthus in red varieties. What was supposed to be (and labeled as such) red verbena is some yellow flower that I haven't identified yet, but I'm certain it is not a verbena. I will be contacting Consumer Affairs and the FTC. This company clearly intends to deceive it's customers and you should NOT order from them or anyone affliated with them. |

All 6 plants were dead sticks. I called them after 3 weeks as they said it might take that long for them to wake up. None were alive. They then sent me a full order (I sent back the dead ones at my expense). Again it took a full week in transit and after planting only one survived. By this time it was too late in the season and have just called to get a replacement order form and after I fill that out they say they will ship new plants in October. I have no idea if the plants are really the varities they say they are and from the comments previously posted I am doubtful that they will be but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and will wait till October and hope they really do ship and that these will be alive. If these grow I will post again with that news. The one plant out of 12 that lived is growing very well but those are very poor odds. I will not be ordering plants from this company again unless all replacements actually grow this time. We all put lots of work into our gardens and do not want to wait 2 years to actually get to see something growing. I will probably pay more but get better plants next time and will check this site and the BBB before ordering any online plants again. Wish I had seen this site before my first order. |

First, they did not honor their 72 hour shipping, it took nearly 3 weeks to receive anything. During that 3 weeks, I called to complain about the 72 hour shipping not being honored and was told to refuse the package and I could get my money back. When FedEx delivered them I did exactly that and sent an email to ARN. I had not heard from them so I filed with my credit card company. I finally called them and talked to Chris who told me the only person authorized to give refunds would be Arnold the owner/Vice president, I said that did not make me happy and wanted to talk to his supervisor. Thomas gets on the phone telling me Chris had told him a screaming lady was on the phone and if I treated him that way he would hang up....I was angry, but far from screaming. Thomas just set a bad tone to the whole conversation and was rude telling me it was not his fault I couldn't read that they did not offer a refund policy. My credit card company has said the same thing since they offer no refund policy I am out of luck...I feel they have frauded me since they have my money and the product. When I called them, they did admit to me that they do bring in a large percentage of their plants from other nurseries/distributors...and perhaps there was a mix up...however customer service refuses to help me, I get the run-a-round, I spoke to Chris in Shipping who told me to simply mail a letter to the Owner "Arnold." They promote their fabulous guarantee but they do not back it up, they are a total scam, rip-off, and they know it too...but as long as they make a buck they are not going to change. | Negative | srreed (1 review) | On Jul 8, 2008, srreed Dighton, KS wrote: My story acually started 1 1/2 years ago. I waited until my kids where grown and I owned my own home before I started my rose garden. Last April I order almost $200.00 worth of flowers from autumn ridge. 11 Rose bushes, 6 peony plants for my mom also those lovely free trees. I got them right away they did not look good but I planted them all anyway. All of the peony (ha ha) grew. They grew up to be day lilies. Only 6 of the rose bushes grew. NONE OF WHICH WHERE WHAT I ORDER. My well mapped out garden was distroyed. Oh ya and the 6 free trees, none grew. So when my floweres started to bloom the wrong colors I called them got through right away to Carol. Wrote the name down on my order form and always dealed with her. She said to call next season and she would send me out all new ones. This is where this year comes in. My son was in a really bad MVA and almost died. When I got home after almost a month in the hospital with him. I started all over again. Carol is a really nice person, she pulled up my order to reorder for me. She even let me pick out new rose bushes (since they all came up pink last year). I actually recieved my package in only 3 days. Sounds great but not. I got 7 not 6 free tress (only 3 of them lived planted them on May 18th.) Got all 6 peony plants (once again not peonies, and do not not know what they are yet but they are growning). Now for the Roses, I got 3 of the 11. They are growning just no buds yet. NOW FOR THE FUN PART. Called them daily for the rest of my order. That is what you have to do and keep talking to the same person. AND WHEN YOU CALL LET THE PHONE CONTINUE TO RING THEY WILL PICK UP (me up to 5 minutes at a time). It took me another 3 weeks to get the rest of my plants even a free rose bush. If they tell you that it is shipped. Call Fedex they will tell you if they have a package coming to you. ARN told me on more then once that they had already ship it, but did not. If you call them right back after you tell them that you called Fedex you may get somewhere. Did that and got the rest of my order in 3 days. Now for that order of 10 rose bushes. Only 5 of the 10 are growning Planted on June 4th. Still no buds on any of them so I do not know if they are even what I ordered. NEVER AGAIN!!! WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN. Now I am going to the Tenn BBB to file my report with them. Will update when my flowers grow to see what they become. On July 9th, 2008, srreed added the following: Update on my Rose bushes. The first of the rose buds have now opened. My (YELLOW) lowell thomas. Point being yellow, well it is WHITE. I am new to growing flowers and I have no ideal what is coming up. All I know is that they are roses but not what I order. Anyone have any ideal what to do let me know. For all I know is that I have climbers coming up in the middle of my garden. I have tried to compare what has been coming up for the last year to what they have on there web site and nothing looks like what they have posted. I have planted so may rose bushes from ARN that have not lived or just not what I wanted. I have planted 7 yellow roses (my favorite ones) and NO yellow roses. All dark pink and red. Well now 1 white. Well keep posting on what the other few plants that have started to grow turn out to be. You would think that they are lossing money, just me alone that is now 27 rose bushes & 12 peony plants that they have sent me only paid for the first 11 roses & 6 peonies. Not a one right yet!! On July 9th, 2008, srreed added the following: update from yesturday. The other rose bush bud has opened. Yes again not what I ordered. My (WHITE) JFK rose bush is yellow. Well at least now I finally have a yellow rose, but it dose not look like any of the yellow roses I ordered. Oh well at least they are roses. Just not the pretty garden that I spent so much time planning. Still a little hope left, I still have a few bushes to produce buds. P.S. my sister has stepped in and bought my mother some wal-mart peonies. Actual plants not dry up mystery roots. She's driving over 500 miles to plant them next to the mystery flowers that still have not producted any thing but really long thin leaves ??? All the time I have put into digging all those holes (50 total) in the past year. I did not even try to call them this time. I do not want more, have no room for more and they do not give refunds. I just contacted the BBB and told them my story. updates to come. On July 26th, 2008, srreed added the following: Update of the 14 rose bushes planted 7 never grew. Of the 7 that did produces buds, none of them where what I ordered AGAIN. Only ordered 2 white roses and now I have 5. The other two where yellow, the problem being that the yellow ones are side by side. The same with the white ones, they are planted next to each other. My will designed rose garden will have to be all transplanted next year. Remove all the dead ones that never grew and rearrange the rest so that they are not all in clusters of colors. That and to get the climbers out of the middle of my garden. No where near the trellis. Order from Autumn Ridge at your own risk and time. I am looking at digging up 27 more holes to throw away or move roses bushs next year. Taking my sisters advise next spring. I am driving to a nursery and paying the more expensive price for rose bushes that have leaves and buds on them. Autumn Ridge has taken care of me ever ordering flowers online again, from any company. |

I had received NOTHING until I faxed them on 5/13/08 requesting a status. They informed me via e-mail that the delivery would ship 5/19/08-5/23/08. I finally received "my order" on 5/22. What I received were 5 horrible things with leaves NOT needles. What they sent me was obviously NOT pine, and all the package contained was 5 6"-12" leaf roots, some blighted and others brown, wrapped in a damp newspaper surrounded by plastic wrap. Nothing was worth even planting. And, besides, I don't know what I even received. They are certainly not pines. My wife and I have called the company several times and they have refused to return our phone calls. And forget about e-mail, we are still waiting on a response since the evening of 5/22. I'm going to try the fax route again today 06/05/08 and request an entire refund. This is the WORST company experience I have ever had! I get the idea this place is someone's backyard and garage with aunt polly and uncle buck running the shop. Buyer Beware. I will NEVER do business with this outfit again, and I would recommend you stay away from Autumn Ridge. |

After 1 week I sent an email asking when my order will be shipped. They said they were behind and would ship my order the week of May 25. It is June 3rd and I have still not received my order. I tried to call on May 30, but of course no answer. I sent an email the same day and they have not responded. Unfortunately I did not come across this website until May 30th and read the reviews about Autumn Ridge Nursery. I ordered from them b/c my neighbor seem to be satisfied with them, but I guess she got lucky. Now my order is not large, but it's the principle of paying for a product and expecting to receive it in a timely manner. My email correspondence has been nice to them, so I am very disappointed by their lack of response. Also, if they say they will ship in 72 hours, then that is what I expect as a consumer. They should re-do their web-page if they cannot honor what is written on it. On June 9th, 2008, GardenDee added the following: I received my plants today and let's just say I'm not impressed. I took pictures, but I'm not sure how to add them to the forum. The plants were dormat looking and dry. There was some moisture in the newspaper/plastic wrap at the root of the plants. I'm praying they live. There is nothing green about them right now. The Red Weigla had a good root to it, but I'm not sure how my Mimosa is going to turn out. While waiting on the Mimosa, I went out and found one by the roadside and planted in my yard. The rose bush is usually a hardy plant, so I'm hoping it thrives once it's established. If there is a way to post pictures, please let me know and I will post them for anyone who is interested. My rating remains the same: I will Not EVER order from Autumn Ridge Nursery Again. In less than an hour, the $50 was gone from my bank. I didn't have a problem with anything so far; we'd received a broad flyer in the mail, all the way in VA, and the website looked legit, so I didn't think twice. On June 12th, 2008, jlohr added the following: I got an email from them about a week ago saying that the trees were shipped and everything was good. I emailed them back, saying to cancel my order, I didn't want to do business with them, they still misrepresented themselves on their site, and I again said that if they didn't get my money back to me in a week, I was going to call their city's police department. Lo and behold, I check my bank account today, and I have a credit from Autumn Ridge Nursery for the amount of the order I placed. I guess threats are the only thing they understand. If you've already ordered, like I did, before you found this site, don't even give them a chance. Just tell them to give them your money back. It worked for me. |
