My orioles are feeding at the sugarwater feeders and Ignoring 2 platform jelly feeders too,but the robins and chipmunks and red squirells are going to get fat. They all love the grape jelly !!!
Daily Pic Vol. 221
That's interesting Huggergirl, I've got to try the jelly when my Robins return in the Fall-thanks!
Wow, Duc. The B.E. are magnificient! What I thought was a Phoebe is actually an Eastern Kingbird (new to my list). :-)
Great photos and birds Ma McGee!
Nice shots McGee!! Love the Downy!
I'm not sure that is a Grosbeak though. The beak doesn't look right.
Nice shots today everyone...we have had storms all day as well as tornado warning. Sure cuts into my computer time!
McGee..I think your first bird is a female Red-winged Blackbird!
I think this is my Parent Eastern Phoebe (who's) out hunting early this morning, but couldn't be sure. The plumage is a little different than what I've been observing them.
Lily, I think that might be an eastern kingbird. anyone else think maybe?
I am hopeful that the next few shots are juvenile Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
Ditto to dellrose on them being female Red-winged Blackbird
Seems late in the year to be nesting, or is it.
Not too late for a second brood. Occasionally they'll even have 3 broods with a 3rd in July/August, though that's rare.

Yep - thread in the bird ident forum
Resin
Nice adel!
Update from Habitat Benen
I just cannot keep up with you guys in warm weather (esp after being laid off and I'm not on the computer all day). But I have been thinking of you guys!
Cardinals had a nest on the north side of the house, little ones fledged a week or so ago.
Robins are nesting on the south side of the house. Babies hatched last week. Parents this week have taken up shooing anything under the feeder or on the patio, including birds like mourning doves and even the chipmunks. I think it is because of post-partum hormones (ba Da bum).
I hear Great Crested Flycatchers all the time, every year. Never knew what they were until one landed. This is a shot from their second known visit, before the robin shooed it away.
I'm SO happy they're visiting the yard, and that I've had at least 2 nests (first time I've had nesting; chickadees have been going in and out of birdhouse so we'll see how that goes). I've been trying to make my backyard wildlife friendly and it is finally coming together - yay!
Sorry for the long post! Just needed to share :)
Here's the Great Crested Flycatcher on the patio
Congratulations evie! That's wonderful news about the Flycatchers!
Sounds like your doing a great job with your yard.
Evie, lots of TLC has been invested. Congrats. I saw the crested flycatcher here once, they must enjoy cooler climate more than my Eastern Phoebes who is still actively nesting at presence.
Yes, indeed the above is the Eastern Kingbird. I was so tickled when Resin helped I.D. the visitor. Yesterday it perched right nearby the window while it was preening, wished it didn't see me grabing the camera through the window -- it flew off.
Here I think this is the real Mccoy (Phoebe) on my persimmon tree this morning. :-)
That does look like a Phoebe. Nice Robin shot! Thanks for the ID on the female Red Wing Blackbirds. I should have known only because the males were all over the trees too.
Hah, Mrs_Ed, your 'baby downy' is soooo cute. Hah, is that a 'squirrel baffle' in use at the feeder? does it work effectively?
Duc, yes, I love those persimmon trees, but they don't love me back. I can't get any fruits from the tree, or rather the birds and squirrels get to them before I do. lol.
Also, I wanted some Orioles, not the cookies, but the birds that ya'll have. lol.
I think this is a Carolina wren. These are really noisy when they're conversing with one another, lol.
LL, yah, that's a baffle. It works great for keeping the squirrels from climbing the pole. HOWEVER,
then they jumped from the roof above. hee. not much I can do a bout that except set the feeder in the middle of the yard.
Duc, excellent shot of the Oriole!
Mrs Ed, those Downy are adorable!
Hi Lily, Yes that looks like a Carolina Wren.
