Dendrobium has about 80 flowers.
Tropical plants # 42
Both plants looks like weeds in my bed.
I did plant some cosmos seeds.
oh no. I did have some of those and I pulled them out thinking they were weeds!!!
Here are some cool looking ornamental peppers. The peppers turns red when ripe.
Rita, my next door neighbor thought it might be a dahlia too. I guess I will have to wait and see.
sorry to hear about the shingles, has anyone had the shingles vaccine? I haven't, but my mom keeps telling me to get it.
look at that papaya - holy cow your garden looks like a paradise!
lol at pulling the flowers instead of the weeds - I pulled up my eggplant... Realized later when it was too late to plunk it back in!!!
Too late for vaccine for me... I did have shingles last June, 2008. Still break out in same area whenever I get too hot or stressed. Both lately so it is almost like the first time.
The vaccine is well worth it. LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER. She is always right.

It is never too late for the vaccine, Lou.
I got shingles last July from dental surgery stress (8 implants in one afternoon and drove hours home the next day by myself).
The short of it was the shingles returned 4 times in 8 months until I finally was able to get the vaccine. Now, when I start to feel the residual phantom pain, it just goes away in hours( no blisters or breakouts at all). Life is great and the county health department was the only place I could get my name on a waiting list for the vaccine. The doctor says I will never have the full blown shingles again........ever ever in my life.
My primary care doc has written a script said he didn't think they would fill it because I had the shingles already. Will be checking into it next week. County Health Dept. in Big D is the only place to get the shot here either and it is $225.00 and no insurance of Medicare pays. That's ok, once you have experienced the shingles you will pay almost anything.
Thank you for reminding me, Gale.

I had no idea you could get the vaccine if you had already had shingles. I too still get phantom irritations, I scratch and rub but there is nothing there, on the right side of my face where I had the outbreak. Going to ask my MD about the vaccine next time I see him.
Thanks for the info.
From my understand, doctors don't keep it and it is very expensive. Put your name on the waiting list at your county health department and it only cost 10.00 but you have to wait for your turn as the vaccine comes in. They are good about calling you when your name comes up. That vaccine changed my whole life.
it's driving me crazy now..as it's healing and has that healing itchy feeling
You, too, RJ, have had the shingles. I had a full blown case 4 times in 8 months..........but once I got the vaccine I only get a slight phantom pain but nothing bad. Shingles was the worst thing I have ever had in my life...........pain wise. I could have 10 babies without an anesthetic before I would ever choose to have shingles one time!!!
ok, you all have convinced me - it sounds horrible. I'll definitely get the shot. Our local Safeway pharmacy has the shots - I'll see how much it costs.
Let's just say, I was contemplating having another hip replacement rather than have shingles. Mine was on the left side of my head, so you can imagine any elevation change of my head caused blood to flow, and pain like sharp knives or cigarettes being extinguished on my head. The bright side? It was in my hair line, so you couldn't tell anything was going on.!
I even called an ambulance the first night thinking I was dying of something. They thought I had pulled a muscle in my back and told me to put heat on it. That, I found out, was the worst advice in the world. By the next morning I had not slept one minute and called my daughter crying in extreme pain. She, being a physician, said, "Mom, stop crying long enough to go pull up your shirt and tell me what you see on your back and under your breast".............oh my gosh, there were big blisters everywhere. I don't need to tell you that I was at the doctor's office 5 minutes later..........I didn't even know what hydrocodene was until the doctor gave it to me for pain along with 2 kinds of medicine to heal the shingles. I just stayed knocked out for days on end........as the pain was unbearable.
I hear ya...I had to wear button up shirts...it hurt too much to pull a tshirt over my head..
I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for 4 days...he was out on fri & mon..finally got in on tue.
Yes, I layed in bed and snacked hydrocodone like hard candy and watched movies. Demanded that no one make me laugh as it hurt..lol.
Mine got so bad, too, RJ, because I had seen the doctor complaining of pain on my back on a Thursday..........he said to watch it and named several things it might be........but since he couldn't see anything yet, he didn't diagnose it. My daughter says that the secret is in catching it the first 48 hours to get started on the meds. That didn't happen for you or me! (LOL)
Aren't we all grateful that they now have a vaccine. If you haven't gotten it RJ, don't think the shingles can't come back full force just like the first time!!
Stop it ya'll, my face is getting itchy again just reading about this. :-)
nope hadn't had it before...I had no idea what was going on..so when I couldn't get to the doc, I went over to Margarets who works for Abbot, and has lots of medical training, and she nailed it.
That's what my Dr. said too.first 48 hours....but I still opted to pay the 50 copay for Valtrex. Which gets me started on the thievery of the insurance companies...
I am sorry I got so carried away but you never forget how much it hurt ^_^
JUst be glad you have a co pay......my medicare with a supplemental has me already in the donut hole........my valtrax each time costs me hundreds and hundreds of dollars.........

grrr...don't get me started!
You guys are killing me. My son had it when he was young and I hear it's really bad when you are older.
I wanted to splurge and keep a bottle of Valtrex on hand but my Dr. nixed that one and he was probably correct as I really have not had any more serious bouts. He did tell me if I ever feel the blisters are coming back and if they are getting anywhere near my eyes to get to the ER immediately.
Oops sorry, I was not planning on posting a fuzzy picture. :-(
