A good thought - thanks.
Tropical plants # 42
I run ccleaner once a week and also malware to clean off any virus. I'm a "retired" programmer, even if I know more about software than hardware, I am pretty efficient with PC. I'm the techie on my street, they call me instead of my DH for DVD and surround sound system setup... :) I know just enough to be dangerous.
I'm a software engineer, too. I've been working with PCs since they were introduced, back in the early 80s.
I haven't had any problems with Picassa, but I've noticed the computer slowing down..but that's probably for all the other stuff that's loaded on it. I think I'm resolved to buy one every two years, or start converting myself to MAC.

Big sale at Apple right now. Trying to convince myself that I am worth it.

no kidding..I saw the new MAC....I drool, fantasize and check my bank account often..it's an amazing piece of technology, and have not until now been that bothered about entertaining any kind of switch.
Did you know there is no sofware for virus or malware for Mac? Not necessary.I must have at least 150 security updates on Windows. That would take up a lot of unnecessary
room on the hard drive. My PC is over 6 years old. Makes it a dinosaur. Don't want another Windows product so I just wait.
PK
did you know there are no wires on Mac...nothing but pc board inside...beautiful!
You're kidding! With all of these cables and yet the cell phones of any brand need none of that. Don't want a phone that does anything but talk. But a PC.
Whooooops! OT big time.
Sorry.
PK
hehe..we'll go shopping together
I'm ready. Found out life is short. Can't wait too long.
LOL! I barely missed the card punch. I started out working with mainframe the size of 2 refridgerators.
But back to gardening talk....
I remember making Christmas wreaths out of old IBM punch cards years and years and well, years ago :) hehehehe
OMG...that's how the airlines use to operate..with those cards...whoa..
Fortran - I still have nightmares about learning Fortran.
Forgot about the Christmas wreaths. Oh how creative we all are. hahaha
O My goodness. I've never seen Xmas punch cards wreath! LOL! I took Assembler in college! And my professor was from Turkey or something and I could not understand anything he said! I coded RPG until a few years ago, but the midrange have gone from 2 refridgerator size to 1 small college-fridge.
PS I refuse to go to Vista!
Me, too.
Well those wreaths we're made during Sunday School and the teacher would spray paint them and we would put on glitter :) That was way back in the sixties :) I remember learning Cobol and the main frame had 12" discs so there :) hehehehhehe Of course I also remember real to real too and 78's, 33's and 45's :) Ooooh turn on those transitor raido's and listen to the latest in R&R :)
hiya rita, we were wondering if you had run to south america in search of tropical "holy grail" plants.
Randy, read the blog. nice. Watering and misting fern thrice? no wonder mine died, not enough TLC. I stopped by CayDee's today and for the first time EVER, I did not buy a simgle thing. I was on my way to the beauty shop so couldn't. She had the most gorgeous bromeliad planted near her office. It was gold, not chartreuse, GOLD, in bloom and huge. I want one, I want one, I want one.
I've been busy on non-DG missions but tomorrow it will be nothing but gardening business, from 6am til.....well.....6:30am. That is all this wimpy body of mine can take.
My dwarf plumie has an info, yipee
I've installed Vista. Despite some minor quirks, I think it's great. For one thing, the Blue Screen of Death is gone - Vista is much more stable than any previous version of Windows. I also think that the GUI is light years ahead of any previos version.

My fave butterflies are sulphurs and over time I have planted several host plants to encourage them in my garden. I think it is paying off. My dream is to be sitting in my patio, sipping on cheap wine, and watching a swarm of butterflies go by. I'm nowhere near fulfilling my dream, but I do practice with the wine part of the dream, lol.
I agree that Houstonians are butterfly crazy. I wonder if having the Butterfly Museum has influenced our butterfly craze, or was it our craze that made Houston a perfect home for this fine institution.
nice blog, as always
LOL vossner. Someday I want to own a shack on the beach and drink coffee and paint watercolors. Hmmm.....someday....
your watercolors will be more interesting if you sip cheap wine instead....
LOL! wine in the morning?
Morning is relative in time. For example, the graveyard person getting off at 6AM, is really his evening wine time!..lol
Vossner, it was very busy with the sulphers this morning..they were everywhere. I have two big candle tree's one in back and one in front...did you notice that their larvae will match the yellow flowers in color when in the flowers, and green when on the green...
well, hello there Rita. Is the Thai Giant bigger than Portodora? My Ports are just peeking out. That Thai Giant is outstanding.
So that's where that plant came from....My friend, Randy, must have brought it last year when he brought the cazillion plants. FYI, I was afraid it would freeze and not come back, it froze and came right back. Just to be sure I took cuttings and held over in the greenhouse.
Every single one lived and I have these everywhere. Ok, because I think they are so unique. Thank you, Randy.

I think so too...get it Princess...then save seeds for Rj and Dutchlady.
Do you still have any amaranthus from me..the tall ones with purple feathery tops..?
Oh, goodness. I had them by the hundred last year and they are beginning to come up.
Uh....when do you think you could come get them, Randy? ahhhuummm. I guess I could mail them but it is so much more fun when you are here.
Hettie,we could make it a party!!!!
