Tropical plants # 42
OMG Are those crotans all the way to the roof line?
Yes, the Crotons are pertty tall.
I've never seen crotons that tall.
good to know I'm not ALWAYS in a total daze. I went to Lowes today and they did have Tropical White canna for $4.95. My ermine is vanilla white, this Tropical White may be a bit whiter, with the tiniest pink flecks, you have to look really hard to even see them.

Looks like I will be headed to Lowes soon.
I was working on containers yesterday and put one together with a chartreuse bromeliad, another one w/ rust lines, Twist & Shout Caladium I was hot to trot for, and a lovely coleous. You can't really see the bromeliads (neos, I think) but when the coleus and caladiums start fading the neos will take center stage.
LouC they had tons of them, in fact, there were others marked "cannas of the Tropical Series" but I didn't stop to look what other colors.
Purchased plants from the Lowes distressed plant section and the tags on some said "green tropical plants". Sure appreciated the detailed information. Bought it anyway. I don't really care most of the time. Have a perverse joy in bringing them back to a healthy life.

Veeeery nice.
This is my first year growing the Tropical White. Plantfiles says they get to 18-24 inches tall.
Steve
sunshine, I wonder if my white BOP will EVER get that big. Is that pink ixora the short one? peacocks are so nice, mineare just peaking out.
Yes, pink Ixora is very compact.
Nice pic's. I didn't know that porterweed came in blue; pretty! I have the purple and a red.
Oops, purple porter weed.
but there is a blue one. I would love to find some blue. I'm told it's not as "enthusiastic" as other porterweed, so that makes it even more appealing.

Thanks! Wish i could smell them ; ) really beautiful blooms Sunshine.
Ardesia, want to hear more about Hawaii. Why do you ship plants instead of carrying? Don't you still have to get the plants certify even if you are shipping?
All the nurseries that I visited had a "certified" plants section and the things I bought came with the right papers. With a 6 hour flight, 2 hour layover then a 5 1/2 hours flight, the last thing I wanted to do was carry anything and it is a good thing because it would have taken forever to get through the airport with all the USDA inspectors.
Hetty, I know what you mean. I go to bed early & get up early too.
RJ, love that double rangoon. Do you have any suckers coming up? maybe we can trade.
The nursery that I first saw the rangoon at could not propagate it either. They had a huge one that was just beautiful.
I finely put mine in the ground a few days ago. We have daily PM rain so I don't even have to water.
