Little-known pollinators ...
Who are your Garden Helpers Part 3!
Awesome picture, Corey. Can I borrow that?
That is a great picture. I love the way they sit like that. Mine were doing the same only they dug their own hole to sit in. There were eight of them.
I have another frog story: I was bringing in plants for the winter and I sat the purple oxalis in the living room. I was in the kitchen when I heard this VERY loud croak. When in to look and sure enough, there was my little green and gold buddy in the pot. Got him outside in another pot and went back to work. Later that day DH asked what that noise was he had heard all day. He thought it might be the smoke alarm. Looked in the pot again and out hopped another frog. Couldn't catch him but I did git him to jump out the window. LOL
Funny story, Willow. I love that you have so many frogs.
Great pic! It's a slumber party!

Like sardines in a can. I thought I was halucinating, but fortunately the camera agreed with my eyes.
Katie, you are very welcome to use it freely. I'm flattered!
I keep heariung about a photo contest in Dave's Garden, and I was planning to use it for that. Does anyone know where/what/how such a contest is?
(ribbet)
I'll let others speak to the photo contest as many of them have entered photos and placed.
Thanks for your permission. I'd load this (with credit) to my Facebook page so my other gardening friends there can appreciate. I know they will!
Corey, you picture is indeed wonderful! I would definitely enter it in the photo contest. I can't remember exactly when the contest starts, but I know that it is sometime in the fall/winter. Watch the left side of your home page for the announcement. It is lots of fun to enter, and even more fun if you place! I will try to remember to post a note on appropoux when I see it. In addition, I thank you for bumping this thread. I have missed seeing the garden helpers and critters, and hope that people will be motivated to post a few more of their garden frinds...... come on guys.... we haven't had a batch of furry pics in a long time!!!!
Willow, I love your frog story! I always enjoy finding out "who" I have moved into the greenhouse for the winter.... I saw bunches of baby frogs when I was out in the yard today. Weird weather still had taddies in both of my ponds at the end of August. Hope they develop fast enough to survive the winter!
I was working in the pouring rain today trying to get a few more things cleaned up before roundup on Saturday. Phoenix will not leave my side when I am in the garden (unless something tempts her to hunt/chase of course....) and she was giving me the stink eye today for making her hang out in the rain. I finally opened the door to my mower shed so that she had somewhere dry to sit and guard Mom....... The garden on the left was the one that I was working in ......................
Thanks, Julie. I will watch. Win or lose, I love to show off that picture.
"Four little frogs, sittin' in a tree (well, zinnia).
Z-I-N-N-I-A"
I would list my cat as a Garden Helper, but it would embarass him.
He hates for the other neighborhood cats to see him associating with a 'mere human', especially being affectionate.
When I sit down outside, and he wants to be held, he first eyeballs around 360 degrees two or three times to be sure that none of his pals sees him fraternizing. Then he's undecided for a while. Finally, while he's being held, he keeps scanning, and if there's any movement in the distance, he jumps down hurriedly.
Of course if he's just walking around and another cat might see when I speak to him, he just dismisses me with a disdainful "WHO are YOU?!? I don't know YOU!!!" glance.
I must be very careful of his dignity, especially if he just jumped up onto something, overshot, and tumbled to the floor. He stalks away stiff-legged, radiating "I MEANT to do that" while I try not to snicker.
He's especially prone to falling off a chair if he's batting at something and I keep drawing it farther and farther away. How could I do such a thing? I guess I'm baaad. But at least I don't laugh at him out loud.
And he forgives me (or forgets) very quickly.
Corey
The contest is usually in early november. Now that DG is under new ownership, I wonder if they will continue the tradition. It is a lot of fun to show off my frogs too. Kermit scissorhands won 2nd place last year in the unusual & bizzare catagory I believe it was. Rick..your frogs must be shown off they are just adorable.
Julie ..Phoenix is getting more and more beautiful !
Bea, that picture always makes me laugh.
Corey, it sounds like you have the personality of your kitty well figured out!
Julie, ditto on Phoenix. She's a pretty girl!
I love these photos. Sorry not to post also..... lazy
Bea, I just absolutely adore that picture, and like Kathy, it makes me laugh every time I see it.
Thank you for the comments on my baby girl. She really is a doll. I have had animals around me my entire life, and have loved them all dearly, but there is a bond between Phoenix and I that I have never had with another animal before. I finally understand what people are talking about when they talk about their heart dogs.
Willow, There must have been something VERY interesting going on at the gate in that last pic! That's a lot of undivided attention!
Probably a noisy car going down the road. ^_^
