Who are your Garden Helpers Part 3!

Eugene, OR

Oh dear, now I need a dog fix again!! Cute puppy!!

Bea......Feisty is adorable, don't you just love those kitty poses? Should've caught mine today. She found a sunny spot and was laying with just her belly in the sun, put her head around the corner of the doorway, guess she didn't want to get too hot.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

.Feisty has broken many things since she been back. Now all the breakables have been put up in the china cabinet. She loves to get up on the kitchen window for some reason. Not much of a view from there. The best is when she is on the window sill in my office. I have a bird feeder right in front and it drives her crazy when all the little finches are fluttering around. She makes a nervous sounding meow and scatches the window. It is really funny to see. She is a character!! Will wait until I get a bigger property to get a large dog as they need space to roam and I would like to get a goldie and they would just be in my pond all the time!! That would be crazy.

sally..cat's and sun rays go hand in hand. They love to be warm.

Eugene, OR

Just not on her head!! LOL I love to listen to the chattering noise mine make when they watch the birds outside. Who can blame them, this was their view today.

Then these little helpers came in to see what was left.

Great bird shots. Love Quail. What are the others?

Love that butt-er-nose. Cute

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

This young fellow is helping keep down the bug population.Note the fly upper left corner and the bee upper center of this picture. What a yummy lunch!

Wonderful frog pic, Bea. How did you get him to pose on such a complimentary flower?

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I start their training when they are young!! LOL!! The water lettuce makes good rafts for relaxing and are great camouflage for lying in wait of their next meal.

Love your frogs Bea....they do look like they are posing.

That second bird pictures is Lesser Goldfinches, they're just coming back (the ones that left) and will be here through the winter.

Cliff Dweller, WA(Zone 8b)

I have been a bit MIA, but I do try to peek at the threads while I shove down breakfast and get ready for work.

The photos are sooooooooo inspiring! I love frogs and toad too! Cute little guys! I love to fall asleep listening to croakers and peepers!

Several summers ago I had a big family of small green frogs! They were so thick in my rock beds I had to be cautious about not stepping on them when I watered. They delighted me to no end...but then... "mother nature" did her thing...and the next summer I had alllll garden snakes...and not ONE cute frog. I enjoyed the snakes too, but I was pretty bummed that they probably ATE my baby frogs. *gasp*

I really hold down chemicals just for my garden buddies. The last three years I've only used light spot applications of that "Garden Safe" spray. The slugs here are reaaaally bad and I selectively used the pet safe pellets (when I saw slime trails) and that seemed to work well.

My girls are my garden 'helpers' and they also like to relax with me.

What a sweet pic Willow. Love their hair bows!

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Highmtn, can relate to your loves of the jumpy creatures. We have a couple of times a year where the baby toads are so thick we don't dare mow or edge the yards. Love it! Our slug control consists of a lot of hands on stuff with the "PNW Slug Stick" my DDH designed (ask others how they are working) but also slug bait, as we are surrounded by forests with lots of slugs. Don't seem to have a problem with our furries with Correys (sp?).

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Willow, Pics like that make me really wish I had at least one small snuggle bunny! Too cute!

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Me too! Phoenix is just a big snuggle bunny, and I wish I had her to snuggle with right now.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

LOL Lynn! That wish is coming from the lady who tolerated my 40 pound monster climbing into her lap tonight to give her puppy hugs! Lynn and I were enjoying socializing WITHOUT chores to do for a change tonight, and Phoenix made herself at home on the porch swing with us. When Mom is sitting outside, Phoenix knows that climbing into her lap is OK, so she figured that that meant that Lynn's lap was OK as well. Puppy hugs and kisses all around, and Phoenix was in puppy heaven!

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

I enjoyed the puppy hugs and kisses. I would love to have a dog.

Beautiful garden and beautiful poochies!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

This little kitty made herself at home Sunday when we were painting. She laid in the shade for most of the day and tried to sneak into the house many times.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

She was so comfortable she even took a nap. She stayed around until the moon was up. Guess her people were not home. She was a very sweet kitty, but not much help with the painting.

Looks like one of those lovable calm cats.

Like the faces on the pups also. Still cute.

Eugene, OR

Bea, are you sure she wasn't scouting for a new home?

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

It is possible, but it won't be mine. One Feisty Kitty is plenty.

Eugene, OR

Can't call this a garden buddy, but it sure watched every move I made while I was out. LOL

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Beautiful heron! That's a really special wild garden companion.

I have 2 temporary buddies, a dog and a bunny that I'm taking care of for a friend while she is away. Cleo is a rescued dog and she is terrified of cameras for some reason, so no pics of her are possible.

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Garden buddy, NOT. One of his relatives cleaned out nearly a dozen of my koi a few years back! :(

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

The frogs seem to be hanging around despite the cooler weather.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

That's a very nice healthy looking frog.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

They all seem to get plenty to eat. Check out this bad boy!

This one still has some "baby fat"!

Thumbnail by BeaHive
Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

You're right. He's a little chubster, er, well he's "big-boned". LOL

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Can you tell them all apart?. Do they all get along? Have you counted them?

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Once in a while I can tell them apart if they have a distinguishing mark , but I have had a lot of new faces this summer, many simmilar in size and color so it can be difficult. They all seem to love each other and respect each others "space". I think I have about a dozen right now.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Neat.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yes, neat.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Bea, I just love your frogs. Can hear some of mine right now, but haven't been able to spot them. Will help when I see my yard in the light today!
