Good Morning!
Yay, the sun is shining and the birds are singing...
All is just about ready to go...
LOL Liz, i just new you would love the graduate pic! yeps hoping to get that phone tomorrow!
Betty, lets see I think the count is up to 45...Nice turn out.
Debbie, oh my how exciting! I know you will have so fun with Prom will be exciting to see pictures.
Congratulations on your graduate too!
Mary, yes lots to look forward to in the Senior year. They did a a slide show at my DD graduation as well and oh yay not a dry eye in the house. So special, lol bring lots of cleanex.
LOL, I already know I will be sheading tears tonight as this is my baby...
Betty, that is really cool to have a Rodgers Plant! Can't wait to see it...Glad you got a little break from the dwaring class.
Tubby, oh my love the pet or kid pics, lolol ain't that the truth.
Thank you for that recipe, makes me wanna just go find some rubarb, which my honey actually loves.
Also, just love Jerry, great to see his lil mischif laugh.
Dawn, my, so sorry to hear about the contract...hope that doesn't hurt your job.
Well, off to do last minute stuff, uhhh one more cup of coffe and gather my mentle list...
Have a glorious day...
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #107 visit with friends!
Yippeee, forgot to tell you...
My new Rose Garden Party has her first Bud!!!
happy, happy gardener here.
Crissy, then I'm celebrating with you, bought one on my way to work and just now starting to have cold coffee and donut..yum/yum
Liz, maybe you should go away for the weekend so they can really purge, knowing you you'll be at that bin watching absolutely everything going in and 1/2 will go back into the yard or house...
Tubby, omg, can you imagine...so laughing..got to go print off that recipe you posted so I can pick up supplies needed...
Linda Kay, never heard of it either, will take a photo of the tag to show you..4' so it must be substantial flowers...
I've so enjoyed my morning, imagine getting paid to make 'swap' projects...I'm almost done..figure by the time I stop somewhere on my way home tonight to get finishing touches I'll be able to mail it out maybe tomorrow...
Guess you all know me well enough to know that I've no patience...when I want something done it not tomorrow, it's today...each year I have to wait until Greg comes over to install the window airconditioner, last year it stayed all winter..would have saved me having it put in..but then I had the big window put in and no place to inset...the guys taking the old window out set it on back deck..that annoys me also..don't like it looking like a garbage site..when Jeff and Greg were over on Mothers' Day they did measure and thought it might go in basement window, but then heat rises and cold air falls so wouldn't help much upstairs..downstairs is cool enough because of inground brick walls....where am I going with this???
Had a coffee this morning and got the flyers out, checking things out, you know me and my Canadian Tire flyer each week..always waiting to see what 'treasures' they have....well don't they have a portable inhouse air conditioner on wheels that is regularly $599.99 on sale for $299.99 while quantities last...so cross your fingers, let's hope when I get lunch today and run over that one will be left...that way, I don't have to ask for help..hate doing that..I'm quite capable but get frustrated when I have to ask for help....so that's today's plan...
Seriously this is important
I think I posted this before..But if just one person didn't see this it will be okay...
I lost an Aunt that we would not have lost if someone would of known this.....

Ohhhh neat Judy, do you have many roses...I don't do well with roses but must say you know when you go to the grocery store and they are selling those $1.99 little roses well once they are finished blooming in the house/outside deck I plant them and they all come up and do well...odd isn't it... do you have a photo Judy?
I'm all revvvv'd up today..not sure why..
Suzanne's daughter just called, she filled Suzanne Bike-a-thon pledge sheet $160. and now is looking for 2nd sheet to fill...I'm up to $145.00 best I go find more pledges....I'm so hoping he makes $2,000. he's trying for $1,000...rain or shine I'm going..so proud of the little gaffer..
Thanks Tubby..think everyone needs reminding of the signs...are you making cement rhubbarb leaves today?
Betty i don't understand how that inside air conditioner will work..
Air conditioners put out a lot of hot air exhausted to the outdoors..
Not sure Tubby, know my girlfriend had one, she moves it to areas that most need it...at night for the bedroom..says it actually does her entire top floor...so I'll try it..looking at the clock, let's hope not everyone in town said same thing...

Betty, we have one of those AC units, but they come with a big hose, like a clothes dryer vent hose, you have to either tape it to a window to vent, or drill a big hole in the wall.
Plus you will need a bucket for the condensation to drip into, otherwise you will have a big mess on the floor!
Make sure you ask all kinds of questions before you buy it!
I'm baaaaaack! (for now). I haven't been able to catch up so I'll just jump back in now. We've been trying to make a goal of having less screen time this year so I've been forcing myself to get off the computer. I've been trying to spend a lot of time de-cluttering the basement. We had a yard/bake sale last Saturday and got rid of some stuff. I donated a lot of what didn't sell to a local youth group. I'm looking forward to getting rid of even more things over the next couple of weeks.
Yesterday was track and field day. Sonora did really well with 2 firsts, 3 seconds and a third. She was really upset because in a couple of the races other girls left their lanes and cut her off. We spoke to one of the teachers though and got things resolved. The area meet is next week so it will be exciting for her to participate in that. It's so funny, her gym teacher said that when they were practicing in gym class she really shocked a lot of the boys. Sonora is one of the smallest, if not the smallest person in her class so I think the boys were really surprised when she ran faster than all of them (since boys are supposed to be faster than girls, you know - lol).
Tomorrow we'll be heading over to Moosonee to the Home and Garden show. We need to get there early to get some of the plants, they go really fast. I haven't really been feeling like getting in gardening mode this year though. It's been so chilly this spring. Everything is at least a couple weeks behind normal. Hopefully, going to the show will help me get motivated to get going with gardening things.
Gillian, so nice to see you post...
Congratulations Sonora....do you have a trophy case?
why can't some play fair?
DeCluttering, hard to imagine how we get so much clutter -packrats right? my excuse is everyone brings it in...
Next rain day, I'm cleaning the craft room and workshop..
Gillian, we've been having unseasonal weather here as well..only thing that is doing well is the gardens...
You enjoy your trip to Moosenee, w ho knows, you might just bring home mega plants...
LindaKay/tubby...just went to Canadian Tire re the portable airconditioner..you are both right, needs exhaust..sounded like it is more work than just having the boys install the one I have until I get one connected into my furnace..came home with $299.99 + tax in my pocket..disappointed though..oh well..some plans work and some do not..this h appens to be one that doesn't...lol
So beautiful outside..we've 1 1/2 hrs. left to work..still on my Red/White/Blue Swap project..ought to keep me going until closing time...
Gillibean!!! Great seeing you again! I was having problems getting motivated on planting so I went to a small garden show, it did help get me in the mood. We got more rain in May than we usually do all year, which was a drag but made gardening a lot easier!
I went to the Dollar Tree and had a party at lunch! I should visit more often! LOL
Gilli - I'm a huge packrat ....can you please come this way ? I have some closets to clean out. LOL!
Congrats to Sonora...what a pretty name!
Hey Betty - I completely understand about the AC. So I suppose folks dont' all need AC up there....? It's a necessity here...
I have no patience as well. Decided to get the new job and spent all day on computer looking up stuff, updating resume.
Hello to Liz, Judy, Linda Kay, Tubby, Crissy and everyone else!
Mary, it can get pretty hot up here. There are times I lay in the middle of the floor under the ceiling fan and don't move! Of course we have to call a tow truck to get me up...but thats another story! LOL
We also have a window unit Betty. It is so hard putting it in and out. And the darn thing is not energy efficient...and we really have to watch the electric bill. Our house is very old....early 1900s...and we have pocket doors in the living room. We upon occassion shut the pocket doors.....closing off the upstairs....the kids grab the floor or chairs, and me the sofa. DH is a diehard..he has to have his bed and will suffer the heat.
I have been doing the updating of the resume also....and going thru the classified. I need a job...for sanity as much as $$.
Waving hello to everyone! Wondering how the graduation is going tonight and if
Seed is shedding tears! Can't wait for pictures.
Tubby forgot to say, love those pictures of "dog vs. kid" oh how true!
Forgot my dang waterpill today...so gotta go put the legs up...I have the bloated possum look yet again.
Waving hello to all......
Debbie
Dropping in before calling it a night, lordy I called it a night about 7:30 - thoughts I'd just laze around and watch t.v. and before you know it fast asleep I was...telephone rang about 8pm..Greg/Melanie were going to a hockey game and Kyle called to see if I wanted to come over for a hot tub dip and went on to say he was in an article in local newspaper and also the radio station Dock95 called him this a.m. for radio interview..just too cute..they send him a copy of the interview and he was excited as could be..told him I was all cuddled in for the night but would drop in first thing in the a.m..
The article..
10 minutes later Greg calls from his truck, says that the boys were disappointed I wasn't coming over...not just for the newspaper article and radio clip but because they weren't aloud in the pool or hot tub when an adult isn't present...
OK pulled my heartstrings, put a guilt trip on me so off I went...
Noah tried to convince me it would be rejuvinating to get out of the hot tub and into the pool...brrrr not for me...
Enjoyed my time with them as always..now I'm really relaxed and ready for bed..lol

Hey Deb! You always make me smile! :)
What are pocket doors?
I don't know anyone around here that doesn't have central Ht & Air...I think there's the danger of heatstroke....
So Judy's graduation is tonight? I guess you are next. :)
My idea of working for a non-profit went downhill today when I realized I would have to take a huge paycut for that kind of position...if I were to find someone to hire me...
But I'll keep looking...
Hugs to all,
Mary
Betty, I am so very proud of him....he really has touched my heart. For someone his age to take it upon himself to help others, well, he is my little hero.
Thank you Kyle! And tomorrow Shannon will be in remission 15 years! It is also her Prom. I will NOT cry!
Debbie
Deb - are you sure you won't cry? I think I'm crying for you!
Betty - that isn't a Tub - That is HUGE! a "Hot-pool". :)
How did the fundraisers end up? If they earned a dollar it's a WONDERFUL thing to be very proud of....
Just the fact that he was pro-active about it......You must be so proud.
That's wonderful Deb- Shannon in remission.....
Mary, yes we do need a/c here but not as often as you do..perhaps last year I might have had it on 10 or 12 days only through the summer season...
Debbie, that's why I wanted the portable, wouldn't have to get Greg over to put it in ... think he's coming over tomorrow to take the winter cover off the Foxy Lady and start the buffing, if he does, it will be my turn to put a guilt trip on him and put it in..lol
Lots of graduation parties going on, am looking forward to the photo's...
Best of luck Debbie/Mary re your updating resume and finding a job..must be stressful...
Debbie, got my passport photos, going to Toronto on Thursday and apply..hoping it arrives in a few weeks so I can head across and see you..drats, Christmas Tree keeps sending me flyers...much on it is exactly what I want...
Best of today...seeing Kyle so excited and recognized for the effort he's put into this Ride for the Cure... he was excited that Jeff (my youngest) weather permitting and if he doesn't have to do some work catch up, will drive up and roller blade the run rather than biking..
Worse...did have in mind to bring home the a/c..but no go...they'll have to develop something more simplified before I purchase one..
What did I learn..that my 'to do' list is a bit overwhelming for this weekend and what did I do tonight....zilch..
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow
Night/night everyone
Mary, I worked for a not for profit for two years...and dang near lost money. I worked for the United Way...and it was such hard work, yet very gratifying...but not the way to get ahead financially.
Mary, Pocket doors are doors that slide into the wall. They are hiden when they are open....but they slide into a "pocket" in the wall and out of site.
I tried to find a picture to show you...but this is from Christmas morning...the house was a mess of course. That door frame is the pocket doors....they are slid into the middle of that on each side...come out and meet half way in the middle of the doorframe.
I am pretty sure Judy said graduation was tonight. But then a bird could have flown by and I was distracted and forgotten....its that easy! LOL
Let me just get thru Prom tomorrow with the creepy boyfriend...oh shudder, I don't like him.
Debbie, you've a right to cry...they say (who is they) that they are no closer to finding a cure than a decade ago, but so many lives have been saved so progress is indeed being made...Shannon is proof of that isn't she...
the Dock95 interview..each week they have interview time for "Hero of the Week" and this week is was my Kyle...
And yes I am proud...
He was telling me that his grandparents and 2 aunts and a friend will be doing the registration table and that he'll ride the trail to make sure all is well (too cute) and that the Cancer Society today sent him a big banner for the ride..also, friends are setting up a shelter tent for those taking pledges...
Says he's already met his goal of $1,000 and that some are donating on the Cancer Society Fund Raising site so he has everything organized...must take after his grandma (me) lol...that's what I did for 20 years...organizing events/recreation programs etc. - at least I'd like to think he did...
Ride is Sunday at 11am....please pray...no rain!
Pocket doors are an excellent way to have doors in a difficult spaced area...Debbie, someone was pleased to get a guitar (?)..
Think non-profit groups are going towards volunteerism in this economy don't you think?
Yes, I believe Judy's shindig is tonight..or is it tomorrow night...old age creeping in...
Maybe that's why I should be off to bed...
Betty, Shannon certainly is proof. They told us she would not survive the five year survival rate. With her age at diagnosis, the type of leukemia and her blood count at diagnosis....she had about a 50% survival rate. Shannon was born with a compromised immune system, they have no idea why....but kids with this condition often develop cancer. The chemotherapy she had was more of a bone marrow transplant, because It totally had her with no immune system response. And she had to have radiation treatment also, this was to prevent relapse in the brain. She has cataracts in her eyes from that....for the last 7 years. They are small....so monitored yearly.
Kyle is just amazing. I only know him thru his precious Grandma...and yet my chest is swelling with pride!
LOL, that was his Christmas gift. We bought it used....but he didn't care. He wanted that so badly....electric guitar. Santa hid it in our bedroom...and left a map of sorts for a treasure hunt under the tree.....and he had just found it.
Hey Deb - Okay - I see what you mean. Love the moulding....and yes Betty - Someone was VERY happy Christmas morning!
Well - I would like a gratifying job....not what I have now...but the mortgage does need to be paid...so I'll just put it out there and see what I get....
Betty - I do think you have rubbed off on the boy. :) What a wonderful feeling! He is so organized! It is difficult to put together events such as this...I'll pray for good weather....it's really worked out for me well lately....so hopefully I'll bring you luck on that .....
I had called the CEO of the Capital Area United Way - I know her somewhat...but haven't heard back....I suppose that is a busy position to have...
I just wanted her to give me some career advice.....
Creepy boyfriend....I completely understand. DS and Norwegian had broken up Prom night...although I know he still likes her a Lot - from last night...but I liked her too....now the girl he brings to last night's party.....Ugh! I think she was smoking before she came inside....
Not a good impression...she made NO attempt to say hello to me.....no brownie points there as well.
What do you do when you don't approve of their choices? I will make it known to him the next time he mentions her.....
I think my Mom would have said....the more you disapprove...the more attractive they become to your DD or DS.........
Betty - what do you say on this one?
Hugs to all,
Mary
Mary, your Moms line would be very correct...the more you disapprove, etc. But, with Shannon, although she is 18 now....I still demand to know who, what, when, where type questions. And, she is very good having her cell phone and texting me where she is....and I "think" she is being honest.
I have not come right out and said "I don't like him" to her. But I have asked him quite a few questions about certain issues I didn't like (his car driving skills), and his attitude about "oh well" when he gets in trouble. I will say he is doing somewhat better the last couple weeks....he did show up Sunday morning with Vanilla coffee....and a dozen doughnuts.....but I also let him know about Eddie Haskell from the Beaver. LOL He also knows I have his Moms cell phone number on my phone.
Mary, I would have a very hard time with any of my kids dating a smoker at that age. I know how hard it is to quit....but that is one thing my kids know I am totally against. My oldest once told me (she is 25 and married now) she would rather of come home telling me she was pregnant...than that she was smoking.
Just hold on to the hope that at this age...relationships don't usually last....and they will hopefully get tired of kissing an ashtray. LOL Don't be afraid to do the "oh...do you smell smoke, were you in a smokey room...wow that really burns my nose".
I have to head up to bed. I am over tired and babbling.....just call me Brooke.
Debbie
Hey Deb - Thanks for your Advice! I am 'with you sister' on the "think" I can trust DS.....he does very well at times....letting me know where he is at...not so much other times...
Maybe you are training the young lad....and he is improving because you are on top of everything....
Good idea on the 'smell' factor.....DS Does know how much I hate the smoking....
I told him on vacation that if he was going to smoke...then I was going to smoke. Well I am not a smoker...so he really took offense to that...."Mom just does not smoke".....so he really seemed trustworthy on that point.....
Hugs to you ....have a good night...
Mary
lol that was original.
Thanks for all the hugs over the job, I am ok though, prayed it up daily, long before it was finalized, so I know some thing will be better.
The sunshine is coming through all the windows, it will be a glorious day...Mary, I was going to say prior to reading what you mom said, don't make him look too attractive by telling her 'hands off'..Debbie had it right on, most times they are not around long enough to worry about so just bide you time..as for the smoking our Debbie said it also, maybe cough a bit, say your allergies are working up..cough/cough..drats being allergic to smoke..lol
Dawn, I'm praying that your company has enough work to keep everyone on..economy is bound to start improving..our major banks here have said that by end of year we should be back on top and out of recession...although, they keep telling us we're not in a recessing..
Carol, is your major clean up and planting now done?
Just cut off some of the linoleum that Diane gave me for underneath the cafe table/chairs on front deck ..not so sure it wasn't old and has hardenned somewhat..I'll keep an eye on it, might lay it on the deck with sun heating it up, if it still rolls, then no go to painting..no sense wasting my time...
Quick run to Home Depot to pick up back board and candy apple red paint for the bench, could enjoy painting outside today..might be a flower or 2 that wants to come home with me...I've lots to keep me busy...
Coffee in hand I'm on my way upstairs, finish curling this hair, get dressed and start the day..
Sure hope it's a sunshine day in your neck of the woods...
Hi Gillian,
Nice to hear about your family. Congrats to Sonora.
Betty..good luck on the ride tomorrow..
and kudos to your Kyle for organizing it.
Still having problems with the raccoon digging in my pots at night.
I put the ammonia soaked rags out but I can't put them everywhere..so he just goes off to some other pot.
Yes Betty..I have got everything cleaned up as much as I can manage. I am cutting back on planting more. I have enough. It is becoming too much to handle.
This is just one of the pots he gets into..he has gotten into almost every pot I have.
I just got and put things bcak each morinng. This morning it was the herbs he pulled out and left on the deck.
Carol, can you live trap them..some times the Ministry of Natural Resources will provide the cages and then relocate...you've made your gardens much like the Garden of Eden, no wonder he wants to live in it...
Haven't a clue what else you could do to ward him off....
Good Morning!!
Yes, Graduation was last night! It was very beautiful that I did have tears while Dr. Roberts spoke of the three years the kids have been at the middle school...
We started out with pictures. Jake has this young friend he has known since kindegarden, so Becky came over for a few shots.
Nice girl, has some big issues...She will also come for the celebration this afternoon. We laughed because they were having a hard time...I said this is not a date! it your graduation...
Gillian...How good to see you!! Hope you had a great time at the flower store...
Congratulations to Sonora! Good for her, I hope she does great in the next race as well.
Was so glad to see you.
OH, oh...Hi Carol! Bummer about those raccoons...they sure are quite the messy pests, have you tried Hot pepper? I hear it works.
Debbie, Are you out and about getting ready for the prom??
Sorry, just realized my rudeness in not commenting first!
Jake is adorable! Thinking of taking DD to IL...hmmmm. I think they would make a perfect couple (wink). What are his plans for after school? Community College...in NY you say? LOL
Betty, I have been busy getting the front porch ready and painted a little bird house plant shelf. It has been good therapy. I will post pics this afternoon when I get it all together.
Dawn, there is some reason greater than you know right now why the contract didn't get through....I always try and think of that song "I thank God for unanswered prayers". Lets us know He is looking out better than we know.
DH is having issues...a bunny has gotten in his garden...with a four foot fence around it...and eaten his maters! LOL He is not thrilled with my lack of sympathy....as I told him tomato leaves are poison and I hope the poor rabbit doesn't get sick. Yes....I am for the nature. LOL
Busy day here...and I need to get a move on.
Debbie
Here is a nice photo of my kids and Alissa!
Julia had to work but was able to go in later so she could do pictures.
So we had an extra ticket and Jacob turned to Alissa, all excited and aked if she was coming to his Graduation!
She said he was so cute and excited she couldn't say no!
