Been out most of the day.
Mom and I had a trip to Home Depot and grocery shopping. As we as we were leaving we came upon an SUV stopped partially blocking the main street....turned out to be a non-uniformed Police officer in an unmarked vehicle trying to catch a poor dog who had been hit and had an injured foot. We managed to get him on a leash and settled down...a beautiful austrailian (sp) shepherd mix....very sweet and well trained. So friendly even with an injury. At least it had all it's tags etc. so it can be reunited with it's owners.
In the 90's today.....took Bill to a meeting then I went to the Library. When I came back we got our assorted collection of materials together and Laura and Sage now have a small water feature by their front door! Laura had a large ceramic pot she received from a friend.....we sealed the drain with a cork....she had another pot for a second level...and some plants I had given her. I had an extra pump....so we finally got it all together and assembled this afternoon....next time I am over there I will take my camera and get a picture.
Now we are at a very boring bike club meeting....just want to go home and have dinner.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #107 visit with friends!
I don't know how we got two threads at the same time?
Well I love your garden in LA. It is so cute and I would not have thought that yucca's would grow there in LA either. Is that not a path of a variety of yucca?
What do you mean two threads?
Crissy, my contacts were soft like jelly. I don't think I could do the hard contacts. I don't even know if they still sell them, they are so harsh for the eyes.
Good night everyone! Sleep tight!
LK
Trisha there's nothing illegal about it. In California they charge $1100.00 for the same service, and that is how to get rid of termites. He's a salesman, simple as that. It's just that he lies to make a sale, which is not illegal but extremely immoral. What sucks is they'll pull that crap on you when your selling your house and have to get an inspection, then you have to pay it or you can't sell your house. Thank Goodness I'm not selling and don't have to do it.
The other thread has been 'closed.' Betty moved us over here.
Maybe your resume didn't need critiquing LOL! Did she send it to her boss to critique it or to get you hired there? Yes, thank God for aspirin and what-not.
Well Betty there's good and bad. When I get up for work he'll be asleep. When he gets up I'll be at work. When I get home he'll be at work. When he gets home I'll be asleep. He also looses some overtime and the shift differential. The good is he will be among the land of the living again, and won't be as tired and grumpy! He said we're going to have to curtail some of our spending, which we need to do anyway, then he says he's going to join a gym and all of these other things. Huh??
Hey Folks -
I have some games planned for the Exchange Student Goodbye Party tomorrow night....
One is - we pick 3 artists from the crowd. We show them Norway (then Germany).....then they get blindfolded....then they have to draw the country! The best drawing wins!
Then - the Frozen T-SHirt Contest - whoever is able to put on the Frozen T-Shirt first....wins!
Mary it has been HOT here today....frozen tee shirts might just be the thing...
Best...Mother in law moved to Rehab today
Worst....Laura and Sean have lost their healthcare....DSHS has decided they make too much money to receive the medical coverage they have had. They have been put on a Waiting List for the next level of health care.
Learned...No matter how bad it seems, there are always those worse off than we are. Hospice is being brought in to care for our neighbor Doris....the Doctors say she has only a month or two at the most....but she is happy right now, because she is Home and will be able to stay there for the time being.
Going to call it a night....talk to everyone tomorrow.
Morning All up and at'm ya all..LOL
I'm on my own today, Shirley has to work..Now what kind of mischief can I get into LOL

The owner are/were probably sick with worry.
Shar, always nice to see your Daylilies, pretty mix of colors. You know, I just love to hear that they are from the generations, always makes me think of your stories and how came to love gardening.
Well, yesterday was a day of running, I was suppose to pick Jake and buddies up from scool and drop them to GBS for weightlifting at 3:00..oh my gosh by time i realized i was suppose to do this it was 3:15 when i was suppose to pick Breenie up!! Yikes zoomed and made it to Jake in 10 minutes flat, kept saying so sorry boys almost forgot about ya, lol they just laughed about it..zoomed to breenie and she was not to happy about waiting an extra 15 minutes..lol said well you couldda walked home, boy did I get the grumpy face!
Jake also got his Grad gown, so i was very glad to not have to wait until last minute to iron...Oh my, the gowns these days are just as cheep as the halloween costume material..well guess I shouldn't complain mostly suprised is all...Anyway they also got a cap! First time ever as far as I know...He was thrilled and quite theatrical over it, he is such a nut. Today his class is going to Great America so he was very excited over that and tomorrow is the big day! Don't know who is more excited him or me.
...Aww his friend isn't getting a diploma until he goes to summer school, but his parent are allowing him to have (get this) an itsy bitsy teeny tiny party! LOL, that that too cute, just a few buds over for a bbq on Sunday...And He will be joining Jake for his party on Sat.
Betty, I think your Tea for Cancer sounds like a fantastic idea, way to show your support, Just love your heart!
Well i better get after them weeds out front. See you all in a bit.

MMMMMM...all these recipes sound wonderful!!
I am about to go pull some rhubarb to make this cake. It sounds wonderful..but will it be???? I'll let you know!
1 white cake mix..made according to directions on box
2 cups rhubarb
1 cup sugar or so..to your taste
1 cup whipping cream...NOT WHIPPED
1 springform pan lined with parchment paper, so nothing leaks out.
Make cake according to box. Pour into pan. Add rhubarb on top...then sprinkle with the sugar. Pour whipping cream over top of all. Bake at 350* for about an hour. Cool 20 minutes in pan , then invert onto a plate.
It then says..."This cake has the most delicious custard sauce on top when you invert it. You will love this cake...I promise"
Now...since I can never just follow directions...lol...I am using a strawberry cake mix. Soooo...will let you all know how it turns out!

Ok...I'm back! I made the rhubarb cake! It IS to die for!!! I had to cut a small piece while it was still warm to taste it!
It is like...hmmmm...strawberry cake with rhubarb custard on top of it! Like a rhubarb custard pie..which I love! ..only.. cake! I am sure it would be wonderful with a white cake mix too. The rhubarb cooks up and it is nice and pink!
Now..the down side. It leaked out of the springform pan a bit...my fault, I'm sure. Must be a better way to put parchment paper in there? Or even...maybe bake in a regular pan.and then invert???? But there was still plenty of the custard there. I sprayed Pam on the pan...and some of the paper..to keep it in place. Also...a regular cake mix was a bit too much for my pan...it is a 9" pan. So I got 5 cupcakes besides.
And...since my oven is way hot...and shot...lol...I only baked it for 50 minutes...it had pulled away from the sides of the pan...and was plenty brown on top.
Well..if you do make it...you will love it! I know my hubby will!
He's coming off of graveyard and onto swing. What's funny is he's the one who said several times, "I REFUSE to work swing shift!" Well its better than not working at all. We'll be fine, we made it through 1 year of graveyard, we'll make it through this. The company is shutting down the 1st week of July, and they just got word that they'll be shutting down the week of Thanksgiving and they always shut down the week between Christmas and New Years, but things can change.
Liz I don't miss the water rules, they don't have those here as it rains quite a bit, starting in March, gets pretty bad in April toward mid May, then slowly tapers off to no rain in Aug, then Sept it starts all over again, except reverse.
Doris is in my prayers.
Well I'm still wearing my contacts, they feel better today than yesterday, that's for sure! I figure I'll keep them in until Friday night, then take them out and practice all day Saturday if I have to, to learn how to put them back in!
Busy morning, keeps being this busy I'll have to ask for a raise..only getting a 1/2 day of crafting in..
Up early this morning emptying rocks from my car, got caught in my nighty, Cathy was walking her dog so she stopped by and helped me out..she left a bag at the door, working clothes, so have a feeling all my grass will be cut when I get home tonight...drats, so wished I didn't have class in Barrie tonight, it's absolutely gorgeous out there, would be a great time to play outside till nightfall...
OHHH Trisha you certainly had a day of ups/downs yesterday..sorry to hear about Laura losing their health coverage, she must be in a panick..thing haven't been going well for her these past months..give her a big hug for me won't you...that poor doggie must have been frightened half to death...imagine the owners getting a call to say he's been found but hurt..they must have been frantic.. Laura's waterfall sounds lovely, just the sound of moving water relaxes you doesn't it...you are just too creative..do you put silycone around the plug...bet Sage was thrilled with this..have to tell you, this morning I got the sales flyers for the area via e-mail..xscargo had a sale on those sun protector units, you can put them up in seconds at the beach, keeps you out of direct sun, room enough for a lounge chair...Cindy and the others wanted one as well, we called and there were only 2, so off I went, took me 45 minutes so that cut into my morning..why I think I need one goodness knows, but each concession at the end of our roads leads to a little private beach, I've never seen anyone at them so thought perhaps some afternoon with shelter and chair in hand and a good book I might just sit and enjoy the lakefront..now we all know how many times I'll use it right? don't even take time to go boating, use Greg & Mel's swimming pool which is just down the street and now their hot-tub so what makes me think I'll use this...but I've got one if I need one..lol
Sorry about Doris, know you'll be stressed with her next door and on her own...home care don't live there do they, only visit during the day? make sure her meds are being taken...does she know that her time is short?
Tubby, thanks for the recipe, will make it this weekend..I'm eyeing those rhubbarb leaves you have...why not surprise Shirley with a few rhubbarb leave patio stones...earn some brownie points...family reunion is at your place? how many more things can you make..lol
Judy, that's nice of your friend to offer you a cel phone..will your phone chip fit in it or will you have to get another? been talking with Jeff, he gave me a new phone with camera, I used it until it needed charging and then couldn't find a charger...this morning found the remote control for downstairs t.v. and charger...oh happy days! better e-mail him and tell him to stop looking for it...Jumanji's new do is a little on the 'wild' look, lol...now look at Jacob , you can tell he's excited and full of mischief..do hope the weather co-operates for the B.B.Q. how many are coming did you say? Gowns are provided to students free of charge right?
Crissy, are you suppose to keep the contacts in that long..thought they had to come out each night? I was laughing, DH told you that the budget had to be tightened and then he's off to join a gym..lol.. how's work going today?
Liz, you guys are starting without me..drats, was waiting for that plane ticket..imagine the work I could do in a week...but, how would I get all those treasures home and not in the green bin?
Dawn, I had a couple of yucca plants when I lived at the lake, omg, the roots must have reached China..pretty flower though..
LindaKay, are you sewing? because I'm in Barrie tonight I can't make Fabricland..June is picking up the cushion supplies but I want to go see what they have re our swap...haven't got the package yet, help???? what colors can I look for
Where is Betty this morning? Is this the day of her CT scan?
Crissy...I have hard contact lenses for 15 years. Can't wear the soft, and honestly, can't really feel them in there. At first the pain was just as you described. OUCH. Keep the drops going, and start out wearing only an hour a day...and increase a bit each day...til you won't even notice anymore.
I have a "special" prescription due to eye disease ...contact has a deep curve in it....so they are made by hand. That part is a pain....and am currently waiting for new one to come as I lost my right lense.
Love the graduation guy! LOL My DD Graduates in a couple weeks. Her Senior Day is next week...that should be interesting with slide show of the kids thru the years and parents breakfast.
Found out last night that dear sons Spring Concert is TONIGHT! Could have popped him one on the head. So been getting the clothes ready...and now rushing for everything.
Mary, I told you our lives were a lot alike....I have the scorpio/sagatarius thing going with my girls also! LOL
Ooops UPS man is here....in shorts! Gotta go!
Debbie
Yay Betty, I love finding remotes and phone chargers, makes the day go great! My day is going good, just getting ready to head out for lunch, got to go to PetSmart for more cat food, I swear she's going to eat me out of a house and home.
Dave's a funny one. He hasn't joined yet, I bet he doesn't. What he says and what he does are usually two different things.
These contacts are becoming quite popular, you can keep them in for a month and not take them out between times. Way Cool! I'm going to take them out Friday night and learn how to put them in as long as it takes Saturday when there's no one telling me how to do it, and I can take as long as I need to.
Works going fine, she's being normal, laughing, joking, no animosity, but I don't trust it, it can change faster than a flash from a bolt of lightning.
I didn't know they still made hard lenses. These are soft, jelly like. My boss told me my eyes look great, no redness at all and they're not itching near as bad today.
Crissy, I wish I could leave mine in for 30 days! Wow! I have to take them out nightly...soak them...clean them...such fun. The soft ones are so much cheaper also. I have a big problem paying for something the size of my little fingernail and paying $150 each! And then you do something stupid like drop it and cant find it anywhere. It either went in the sink...or the dog ate it! LOL
Betty, I am not picky about the colors. any reds, blacks and whites.
Have a great day, and don't work too hard.
Wasn't I suppose to match the fabrics you sent me LindaKay???
No they don't have to match, just something similar, or
co-ordinating! So any of the colors will work. Any black, red or white. There could be a little red in the black, or a black and white combo...
Debbie - You always give me a good laugh! I guess that's our drama - DD's Scorpios and Saggitarious (sp?)....Happy Graduation!
Liz - a walk down memory lane with Persimmon cookies...my Grandma made yummy ones when she was alive...one of those things you wish you appreciated when you had it. I don't even know if I have her recipe....even if I were to find persimmons...
Thanks Dawn - I guess we can grow yucca here....I'm a beginning gardener...most of the stuff that survives, DH planted (as with the yucca) I hope it blooms! It didnt last year...
Trisha - great idea on the waterfall. Nice to hear water trickling down, relaxing. Is that an azalea? Hoping Laura can find some good cheap insurance...
Crissy - Bless your heart getting contacts. I tried to in January but couldnt' cut it. Yup - friend gave it to her boss, they aren't hiring but it is something I could do.....but I did want to 'tweak' my resume first....I have some references I want to put on it.....
Judy - Happy Graduation to you as well! So it's you & Deb that have graduates in the house? It'll be me next year so please fill me in on everything!
MIL was so frustrated with neice....she didn't get invites out until the week of.....I'm trying to take notes so I can remember these things for next year...
Hugs to all - headed out .....Chiro appt and pick up DS from summer school....then we'll be getting this "Exchange Student'" party set up. It's tonight!
Mary
Mary, just wait for all the Graduation hoopla! LOL Ordering cap & gown, yearbooks...announcements (I printed my own).
And then next Friday (12th) is Class Day and Senior Recognition day. Parents are at school at 6:30 with the Graduation class....we have breakfast and a small assembly. Then we all move into the Auditorium...along with the rest of the 9th to 11th graders. This is when they get notified of any scholarships, awards, and then they play....the slide show.
All parents bring tissues! LOL They take pictures turned in of all the students graduating....from kids birth...to now. Them with classmates thru the years, kindergarden graduation, dances and prom...up to their Senior pictures. This along with selected songs....surely to make every parent cry! LOL
Then, after all that fun is over....the parents leave, and the kids have a "fun day" of sorts. Sometimes they bring in carnival rides...but the school budget can't handle that this year.....lots of games, music, yearbook signing. And of course, the Senior Prank. That is usually done...so that the Principal finds it when he comes in on Class Day morning. We have had everything from the office totally packed with balloons that no one could get it.....a baby pig in there dressed in a bonnet with blanket squealing away.....all done in fun.
But first we must get through this Saturday! LOL Saturday is the Prom for our school.
You are all having so much fun with graduations..
Mary, excited to hear how the frozen sweatshirt goes off...hmmm girls try it as well right..could be interesting..always heard of wet t-shirt but not frozen t-shirt...have to tell the kids about that one...sure hope you have your camera charged..want to see photo's..when will the exchange student leave for home...bet that will be a day of 'tears'
Fun and games Debbie for you and yours, no wonder you are all tuckered out...guess what I'm doing before my class tonight Debbie..going to get my passport photo done..I've got my papers to fill and I'll drop them off at the passport office here in Barrie one day next week..shortly I should be able to cross over with mom...
I knew it was coming and it serves me right..I don't usually procrastinate for important things like this but this time I did..tried last year remember but I had laminated my birth certificate and they wouldn't take it..anyway, I'm well on my way to getting it, mom is already packed so I should put a 'rush' on it right?
Can't stop myself from laughing..you know that Jeff my youngest (39) is going on a 15 day kayak trip in July..well the type of kayak he'll be using is around 4 - 5K for it..he's already spend about 2 to3K just for supplies...
Canadian Tire has a blow up Kayak on sale for $69.99 so I posted on facebook, his site, that I've bought one..said I was too worried about his trip, going alone, so what more could a mom do but buy the blow up, got that tent shelter this morning, I'm all set to go with him..asked him to pick up micro blankets/matress...told him his Uncle Paul gave me the 2 weeks off because of the work that Jeff's been doing free gratis on the computer programs...all a joke of course..can't imagine how he'll answer that post...lol hell be a smart a*s for sure!
Oh Betty, what a MOM you are!!!! He is going to either go nuts or die laughing. My son would paste the message on the side of his kayak in big bold letters long enough for a picture and then off he'd go... I love your sense of humor.
This is very good...You will laugh out loud...Totally clean

I don't know if it is going to work...
SO TRUE
Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi
driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly! So I asked, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage - full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.
Don 't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
Don 't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so.....
Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day!
Oh tubby, that was so funny! thanks for posting that!
LK
Dropping in with a hi..just got in from class..had some shopping to do, omg couldn't resist, paid for $11.80 for a plant just because it said 'Rodger's Plant' imagine..think we get more sentimental when we get older...Roger who hated plants, I'd plant he'd run them over...lol...probably shaking his head and calling me a 'silly' woman!
Barb, I can well just imagine what his response will be..nice to joke with each other isn't it...
Tubby you never cease to amaze me...
Got more supplies for my Red/White/Blue..if I'm a good girl I just might get it out on Saturday...I'm improvising only because we don't have July 4th USA themes here, not close enough to the border but I'm sure my swap buddy will realize the effort...
No portrait class for 2 weeks..happy camper here...got Braedon's face structure down, should look ok when I'm done...
Was tired tonight..joked with the girls, blame my portrait errors on not being able to see...have appt. with eye doctor, omg who or what will I blame once I've new glasses...
Good night Betty, Sweet dreams!
Hey Deb -
Whew! I'm exhausted just hearing about it all! I think I'll just be a basketcase this time next year....
Better start saving $ now.... :) Please send Prom Pic's! I posted mine back around April 4th.
Betty - I LOVE your joke with DS! Please tell us how he responds!
I discovered "Frozen T Shirt" contests back doing radio promotions. It sounds risque...but it's really clean and a LOT of fun! We've done them at all kinds of parties...
You wet T-Shirts, tie them up and deep freeze them. In the heat of summer they do still stay Rock Solid....so the "contestants" are running around hitting and throwing them on the ground, pulling them...trying to get them to "unfreeze".... then finally someone is able to pry the seperate sides apart and put the Tshirt on and wins....
The kids have a blast....but we didn't need any games tonight.....we played one game and I could barely get the teens out of the pool to play it...they were having so much fun.
I do want to show you the cake I ordered Line and Rico. Rico leaves out around 6am tomorrow morning so tonight was pretty sad. Line doesn't leave until June 14th...
Their birthdays were May/June so it was a combined Bday party as well.
We were SO lucky with the weather...it was supposed to Thunderstorm today.....just a light rain right at 6 when the party started...it stopped and the fun began. I was crazy thinking of games last night when I thought we'd have rain...but no need for that....Just swimming was enough.
Hugs to all,
Nite Nite!
Mary
drive by before I crash. My company lost our contract today. ho hum. Hope you all are having a better day.
Mary, sounds as though the party was a complete success...I'll have to tell the kids about the frozen t-shirts...kids of today don't play games like we use to, but then did we have a pool?
My heart goes out to you today, sad day it will..these students almost (do) become part of the family don't they! Did you take photo's? Looking forward to viewing them AND would you share a piece of cake please....
Dawn, sorry to hear about not getting the contract...will that put your job at risk? guess nobody knows these days...perhaps they will pick one up from another company..how are those sweeties, must tell you I printed off a copy to play with one of their photo's (sketching) and it just wasn't clear enough..maybe once I get new glasses it will be different...lol...if you've a nice head shot and clear can you post to me..need something to keep me busy at work..
Looking at the clock, time to get dressed..off at 3 today, have about an hour or so to finalize a project I want to send out after work so most likely won't get home until the same time..
June must be waiting to drop in later today with cushion material..I did set the 2nd chair out in the garden..will look so pretty..have to purchase a yellow flower to bring out the cushion colors..going by what June told me..
Diane had brought linoleum for me, thought I'd like to make a little rug for under the cafe table on front deck to match the pretty colors..I've unrolled and will see if it was too old..they harden somewhat and then no go for painting so by tonight I'll know if I have a project to do or not...
Keep thinking about the cookstown garage sale tomorrow...it's more to treat Cathy for cutting my grass but I don't think I want to waste a beautiful day travelling 80 miles one way..she showed an interest in stepping stones designed with left over stained glass...think I'll pick up cement and teach her how to do them if she drops by over the weekend... that settles that...
Even went out and planted my Rodgers Plant as it's called..says it will grow 4' high with spikes of white..like semi sun/shade so had the perfect place for it at the back deck...
Talk

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.
Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small di ner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans.
All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas.
Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly:
'Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight.'
He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.
The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously.
Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage.
Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes.
The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.
My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.
At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: 'Happy Birthday!'
I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's horrible about your contract, I am so sorry.
Dave's boss didn't turn his time sheet in for him while we were gone so he's a week short on his time sheet, he'll have to take care of it on Monday when he goes to swing, Dave won't call HR during the day, that's too easy LOL
