Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #107 visit with friends!
I'm first again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow Crissy you are on the ball...must tell you I sure enjoyed the photo's of your trip..bet you were so relieved to have salvaged some of them...any news on the expected date your new camera will arrive...what makes you so want that particular one??? features???
I coordinate it, run it, and get to boss my boss around! Actually I get to boss both bosses around as it is 'my' conference. LOL!! The conferences are tiring but they are lots of fun! Especially when the two bosses go out, I tag along with them, that way I know I'm safe!
Oh I'm glad you enjoyed them. I recovered all of the pictures and the ones that didn't come out wouldn't have came out anyway, that camera just sucked. The new one is supposed to get shipped on June 15th. Ug. It's a 10x zoom and 10 megapixel for $199.99, can't find another one that has the great zoom and pixels, it's either one or the other, and the other ones are about $100 to $150.00 more for either less zoom or fewer pixels.
That's a good deal..not much longer before you get the camera...then you'll be a shutter bug...
I'm sure the boss will approve it..
Was just telling Suzanne about my thoughts on the 'Garden Tea', she told me to lose her number as she's not sitting around with old biddies (she's one herself-lol) - told her worse case senerio she could spike her tea..lol
Bev what is the name of the hosta that is closest in the photo..light green with tinge of darker green? OMG look at those fish..I lost mine this year..wanted to run into Walmart in their pet dept. but they no longer keep fish...girls here at the office sometimes think I've lost it...lol - but the other side of that is I accomplish what I say I'll do and they never get around to it..lol
LOL if he doesn't then we don't go to West Memphis, simple as that!
That's funny, Suzanne's boycotting 'old biddies!'
The hosta on the right front is Guacamole grows fast. The one in the middle front is Old Glory and the one in front left is Jimmy Crack Corn.
You've certainly got a love for hostas' Bev...I've some scattered here and there...now how in the world do you remember their names...tag's I would imagine...
Betty - I love your idea! Perhaps you can find a partner who will cater it as a donation...so all you will have to do is provide a location....
Could you also do a plant sale, with 100% proceeds going to a cancer cure?
"Plants for a Cure" HA!
Re the job situation - I had someone tell me to contact the labor dept...but to make sure others do so with me so I don't get singled out and 'fired' for some random reason. I'm going to start putting my resume out there first. They can keep my $400 if I can just get out of there and find a good job that I enjoy.
Hey Crissy - I guess that's my problems with DD's....Scorpio and Saggitarious.... LOL! Well can't complain today...they are not here.
Betty - I think I'm going to try "Cancer Services of BR" and places like that. I may have to take a cut in pay...but I would feel better working for a cause...
Back in a bit....have dental work today so took the day off. I have 4 weeks vacation...I need to start planning to use it before I jump ship.
Hugs,
Mary
PS: Bev - your gardens are gorgeous!
Hostas, hostas, and more hostas!
This is not all I have but I will give you a rest.
Oh who needs a rest? It's lunch time and rejuvenated! LOL
I can't get over how much room you ladies have! I'm jealous! Bev & Betty - wish I had half the space.
Well here is from my own backyard. DH calls them hibiscus...but since they are not the tropical, I don't think of them as hibiscus....
But lots of huge blooms just popped out....
Hope they stay around for Line & Rico's party tomorrow night....
They are growing next to the "Path....."
Aren't they beauties Mary, how long do they stay in bloom? does each flower have a small life span...omg..I'm envious of your tropical paradise...dentist...do hope no 'pulling' involved..doubt they rarely pull teeth now do they, not like in my day...
Crissy, do you have your second wind now...more ambitious..lol
Bev...certainly not boring us...I'm going to take close look at the photo's and go see if I have same and then mark them with their names...as I purchased many of them at Church plant sale over the years and have had friends give me some, names just weren't available...
I see a few that I know I have, omg Bev, do you have any idea how many you have let alone the different types....mind boggling...is your land marshy?
Well Betty, I have contacts now! They itch, scratch, put me out of focus and back in, and I can see the rims of them. The eye dr said this is normal and all of that will go away when I get used to them. It took me an hour to just put one in, she had to put the other in herself, that's ridiculous! She said I'll be getting up at 2am to be at work at 8! LOL
More old new daylily blooms here....These are so old I don't know their names, but they came from ancestors years ago and are usually the first to bloom.
Gorgeous hosta Bev, really beautiful.
And Mary....oh my, how truly beautiful. Breathtaking with those lovely hibiscus. I love the color contrast among the foliage too.
Crissy, when I had contacts, I would look in the mirror, then look to one side, place the contact on the outside of my eye, and then blink. it would seat itself with no problem. Make sure you have plenty of eye drops on hand, cause your eyes will get dry now and then.
I have hibiscus, and the blooms only last for the one day. Sad, but that is what they do! I have several pink ones, a red one, a yellow one, and a pretty double orange one!.
Crissy wouldn't even think of getting contacts..know I wouldn't have the patience, and at my age, might as well stick to bifoculs...I'll be sporting new glasses as well in a few weeks..eyes being tested June 22...
Shar, they are lovely..because they are heirloom from your family are you noticing they are changing in color or size...just gorgeous..are they multiplying? Have you now got all your gardening maintenance done and just need to be watching for weeds now?
Bev, will do a walkaround tonight and see which I recognize...
The two on the bottom left are doubles, both orange, just different shades. The others are singles.
Your plant may be a hibiscus, but hard to tell. the picture did not enlarge when I clicked on it?
LK
LK were yours real soft, like jelly, and big where they covered all of your colored part and more?
Crissy, you talking about my hibiscus. No they are not soft like jelly. They are soft to the touch, like maybe suede?
LK, I'm talking about the contacts, I was asking if the contacts you had were big and jelly-like. I'm sorry, I do that to Dave all the time.
Best of Today: Learned that Dave is changing shifts on Monday, he'll be going from graveyard to swing, and he'll be working with his buddy once again. Not perfect, but it's better! He'll be among the land of the living once again! He will lose some of his overtime and the shift differential, but my year is coming up on the 26th and my co-worker that I share a job with is supposed to be leaving, although I'm the only one who knows lol. If she does that will give me a good raise and hopefully make up more than the difference, one can only hope I suppose.
Worst of Today: Got the exterminator out here today and had someone from the same company do a termite inspection. I wasn't home when they got here, and he noticed where we had a carpenter ants in the garage about a year ago. He told Dave that they were termites, Dave told him they were small wood ants and he killed the nest (which is true because I'm the one who discovered them and I watched Dave spray them.) The guy still said they were termites because he saw where there was a tuber. We don't have a crawlspace, the house is sitting on a slab, and the slab is on the dirt. After he did all of his paperwork he got me aside and told me that he wasn't supposed to tell me but my husband told him that he found a termite tuber out near the gutter. We don't have gutters on the house or anywhere else around the house. He said we have termites living under the foundation, again no crawl space, and wanted me to sign a contract giving him the ok to drill holes in my foundation every foot on that side of the house so they can drop the termite poison in, patch the holes, then dig ditches around the rest of the house for poison also. "Ma'am, this is only $980.00." Is he insane???????? First he tries to use me and Dave against each other, then wants to charge me $980.00 to do it!! I don't think so, it was very disheartening. The guy who did the actual spraying was alright, but he wouldn't do anything with the mud dobbers in the attic, I think he was afraid of them so I figure that since I have him for a year I'll get him up there in the middle of winter when they're not around.
Sounds like the guy that tried to get you to sign the contract should be reported to the better business bureau if you ask me.....not exactly legal is it?
Hey Betty - They just bloom for a day....but the bush is absolutely covered as you can see....
love your daylilies Sharran! I might want to plant a few more. I love the mix of colors...I try to do that as well....love lots of color!
Crissy - Good thing you caught it....I had something like that happen to me years ago with a Steam Cleaning company...back when DS was a baby...they scared me into thinking they had to do some kind of mold protection for my carpet....$500 for a single Mom (at the time) was too much but I fell for it....
Shame on companies like that!
Best - I set up a personal email...baby steps towards getting my resume out there....
Worst - 2 hours at the dentist....and pain....still painful but I don't like pain meds so just doing advil....
Learned - Watch who you send your resume to....I sent it to a friend to "critique"...she sent it to her BOSS !!!Oops!
Hugs,
Mary
It's that time of night, thought I'd drop in with a 'hi'..
Crissy that's terrible, many would fret that it needs done and pay only to find out it wasn't necessary...glad Dave will be on similar shift to you, you can now have a life of your own...
Mary, thank goodness for pain killers...hope the hurt is gone by morning..keep sending out the resume's...who knows, one might just give you the opportunity of finding the perfect job...
Best of today...just seeing Suzanne so enthusiastic about the pool they are having installed..she works so very hard and along hours...deserves to have something she will enjoy for relaxation...
Worse of today...Rita was telling me about a friend of ours, having such difficulty with her son..since she's lost her DH he has now taken over..almost every move...can't make her see it...
What did I learn today...that somewhere along the way I have to take time to rest..feeling awfully tired...
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow...
Night/Night
