I would guess it's all the rain. Many drought tolerant plants will flop if they get too much water.
Do you shear them after they bloom? I just planted some May Nights and was wondering if I should do that to stimulate them to bloom again.
June flowers...
Ahhh gotcha - then mine's been that way for some time...LOL
Hart, I cut the spent blooms all summer long. Don't shear the whole plant because there are always many as yet to bloom spikes on it.
This Heuchera "Gypsy Dancer" has a nice profusion of blooms. The leaves on this Heuch are one of my favorites. Got this from RCN and don't often see it on other websites.
Stormy - that last pic? EXCELLENT!!! The poppy...

Love that ginger ale and the color on that neon rose... I'm finding that I really want to do more peach, salmon and coral color.
Stormy - did you buy up all of Debbie's inventory or what? LOL
Thanks, Stormy. I meant flower stalks, sorry for not being clear. That helps because I wasn't sure what to do.
That Ginger Ale is beyond gorgeous. Looks like tellima only lighter. I'll get a photo of my tellima if it ever stops raining.
Gosh, I'm out of the loop for a few days and look, already 92 posts and I'm still "stuck" in the May/June thread! LOL Packed my camera yesterday to get some pics but it started raining before I could start clicking :( Not complaining about the rain, the gardens needed it! I've got the prettiest flower on a new plant, Melittis 'Royal Velvet Distinction', I wanted to show you - let's hope the rain didn't ruin it!
claypa, I'm envious of your Penstemon smallii, after 3 years I either weeded it by mistake or it didn't make it through the winter. What's your secret for 'Snow Angel'? It's one Heuchera that just doesn't like me! I can plant the most healthy, vigorous specimen and it slowly withers away.
Stormy - love seeing all my babies in their new home and SOOO happy! One of the things I really like about 'Gypsy Dancer' is that it's a re-bloomer and 'Denver Gold' is a favorite :) Not only is it a gorgeous yellow, I've found it to be one of the longest blooming Columbines, sometimes right up until July!
Oops, forgot, I think you need to cut those Salvia back by 50% :( It will hurt you more than the plant! LOL
Terry, Your Astilbe are looking great! I came across a rose website yesterday that had a list of varieties recommended for shade. Have to get it again and send it to you.
Lady, Your johnson's blue looks great. The Wisteria tree looks fabulous. Aren't you glad that you decided to keep it? You folks have gotten me interested in growing begonias again. Lady, those are lovely. I think that I have one of those. The different colors are so pretty.
Doesn't this look like one? No ID's came with them. This has been growing very well. Was only two leaves when I got it.
Stormy, begonias are additive LOL Just like the heuchera, Caladium, Coleus Oh! My!
I have a Chart of the different Rex's with the leaves and the names, yours could be Charlotte Chiffon or Celia. The lady that I bought these from had to go back into her house and look up her order sheet to get the name. She orders 2 to 3 different ones each year, how's that for aiding an addict?
This is the best my Johnson blue has looked over the years, the fence did the trick.
Bec, Your Clematis and Rose and Pooch are beautiful. Do you know the name of that Rose? I really like that it's fragrant and it has a lovely form.
With Snow Angel, I'm sure it the heat in your summer
Actually we're colder than you are (6a)! We're in the valley so it's colder here than most people think. Your Snow Angel is beautiful, I can only hope one of these days I'll find the right spot and have one as nice as yours :)
LadyG, your Wine & Roses is fantastic! I've been disappointed with mine but looking at your photo I think the problem is it doesn't get enough sun. The other Weigelas in the border do fine but W&R is the last one in the row and tends to get shaded by the tree just beyond it :( Your collection of Rex Begonias is making me drool! Every year we grab a few more but after losing so many over the winter we've controlled ourselves and haven't bought any this spring. Of course, the summer's not over yet so you never know when another one might tempt us! LOL I keep admiring the photos of your Wisteria and try to remind myself to check on mine. I planted it to climb up over the copper arbor which is still not finished but stuck a tall Shepherd's Hook there to help train it. I planted the poor thing three weeks ago and keep forgetting to go back and tie it up :(
Becky, I don't think you can ever have too many Clematis! I've added a few to the gardens this year and they're budded up and ready to bloom so I'll try to get some pictures. Bandit's a sweetie :)
quoted Bec
"much beloved by neighborhood girls - Bandit"
and vice versa!
Re clematis -- do you put yours by fences? I have a couple to put in, but I can't decide where to place them.
