Can see lily growing but what I'm still trying to figure out is what is the other green plants? they've come up in dozens...

How very odd...you would think being a member of DG that he'd be right on top of it..how many of you were in the swap?

You'd thin that if his crop didn't do well he'd just say so and forward the funds back to you...
Know I showed you photo's of around the pond maybe 1 week to 10 days ago...you could see all the rock..now look how high it's grown..pond it all but hidden, come flowering time, unless you hear the sounds of the water spray you'd not know there was a pond..

Betty, there were probably a good 50 or sp that ordered. I don't know the exact numbes, but several of us have not recieved any plants. They have not posted anything for weeks, and they are not answering any phone calls, or emails!

This area, which I've shown you, probably saying 'how many times will we see this area?' lol but just want to give you an idea of it's length..it goes all the way from the driveway to back tree line..people who visit just think it's flowers in front of the property line...

I've planted hops on 3 of the entrance arbors to this area..as you can see they are growing in leaps and bounds..would think by next weekend if I take another photo you will see it covers the top of the arbour..after that, it really fills out...

Now behind that tree line are 2 pretty garden rooms, I call them my 'secret garden' because if I'm in there no one knows I am'...that could be a good thing..lol...

Know someone here has a wood chipper, sure wish I had one..now I have to go pick up bags of wood chips to lay on the floor of the rooms to add to it's character

This is one of the garden rooms..spacious enough

Betty, that is looking so pretty. Love the lilacs! I bet they smell like heaven?
Your hard work is showing off for sure!

There are gardens all around the front of the house...then a large on near the driveway facing front of yard...things are just starting to open..no color like the rest of you, but for me, it's just soooo exciting...

Liz the brown structure is a 1500 or 2000 gallon fuel tank..It was on a stand..Now sits on end..Betty is correct..It's going to be my trash incinerator..Want to cover bottom & up the side (18") with brick & mortar...This I hope will make it last longer before it rusts out..The ashes have a acid like effect if they get wet..

Marion Shirley dose NOT like the squirrels either..You should of seen how excited the one squirrel became...LOL

LindaKay, soon I'll be able to just enjoy..probably have 3 more weekends of edging, planting, cleaning..I so love it though..you come in dirty, sweating and tired, but it's all a good tired isn't it...

One of my most favorite filler flowers is FLAX, comes in 3 colors..seems the blue ones are already opening..why I like flax is that when you have a gentle breeze they dance ever so lightly amongst the flowers...stem is no thicket than a strand of hair almost...do any of you grow flax????

Hey Tubby, how are you doing today? Love all those bird houses, and feeder you are making. Wow, you are one busy guy. At the garden of yours is huge! I know it keeps you both very busy!

Isn't he adorable 'tubby'...

Well one last photo and I'm off .. have the last chair to give 2nd coat of paint to before calling it a night..I haven't gone upstairs yet because I know from experience I just might sit down and I'd accomplish nothing..hate it when that happens...if the paint isn't quite dry, I've 7 boxes of paint and books that I could try and find a place for ...all brought from Helen's on Saturday .. I'll get started and maybe the girls who come to paint Wednesday during the day could finish the project..

Linda Kay I feel so badly for you all...hope you get it resolved...

Some of you may not know that last fall I started a DG friendship garden at the very back of the yard..omg it's coming along beautifully...for some not knowing what my directional signs are, here is a photo...soon will have your name, your DG name and how many miles from my house to yours...started last fall...still room on this main post, if I run out, always cement in another...lol

That is a neat idea Betty. We had high winds earlier and it took my arbor down with my two clematises but Rick helped put it back up. He is out digging and going to take care of Snuggles for and dad. HUGS BEV

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Bev you take care hun, and more hugs.

Betty I remember your friendship garden you started, I didn't know about the pole! What a neat idea! Your yard is coming along very nicely! Wait til that Flax is in full bloom!

Got to go cook dinner. See ya'll later!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Bev, so sorry to hear about your dog. I can understand how you--lost my kitty a couple of weeks ago.

Tubby, I don't really hate the squirrels --it's the digging and relocating of plants that makes me angry. I planted some peacock gingers 3 years ago and I am not sure if I was out of my mind or what as I have found them everywhere but where I remembered planting them. I think my furry buddies did it for me!! Destroyed some young hostas I had planted--the list gones on and on............

Oh Betty, I can't believe how green everything is and the blooms!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear about your furry one as well Marion..
Bev, glad Rick is there for you...imagine it's hard for him as well..do you have an area set aside for your beloved animals...not sure what I'd do for Sailor, am sure she'd go somewhere here...the vet cremates as well, might be an option because the old girl is quite a size...poor Sailor, sitting here at my feet and what am I doing, yep, talking about her demise..not nice of me!

Just took all the paints out of the boxes and put in color, girls can try and see if they fit in the color bins on the wall..just what I needed, more paints..over 200 paints, think I threw about 40 or so away...

As for the 3 boxes of painting books and 1 of painting project patterns, will leave in hopes tomorrow the girls might take some home, then tomorrow night my class might take some as well..what is left I'll burn...I purge, people bring more, purge again...still don't even know what to do with over 50 quilt books..drats...

Not sure if the boxes we used are what smells mouse urine...not bad but I feel dirty/dirty...think I'll go and burn them in the pit, couldn't burn on the weekend but a nice fire then bath, have a bite to eat and shortly to bed...

Get a lot accomplished when you don't go upstairs...lol...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Helen almost completed this wooden box..her daughter and son gave it to me so guess I'll finish it..keep it as a 'keepsake'..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Finally time to go upstairs and call it a night...

Best of today..hearing the news about Jesse and of course Barb's news

Worse of the Day...feel odd going through Helen's things...

What did I learn today...that someone hid the marshmallows, can't have a fire without...which ones of you did it????? come on, own up to it...lol

Didn't really learn anything substantial ...

Good Lord willing, wel'll talk tomorrow...

Oh I know, Tubby taught me that if you eat the root of Salsify, it will taste like oysters...not likely I'll taste it though....

Hello To All;

DH dragged me to a benefit auction tonight. His boss 'asked' him to go at 5:30pm....I'm actually glad we went. There goes 'fate' again....I've been quick to find ways that things were 'meant to be'.

I've been considering changing jobs/careers this week...and I think after tonight....I'd like to go to work for a charity. Saw some old friends tonight as well...

Bev - my heart goes out to you tonight for Snuggles. We had to put down Indy, greyhound, 15 yrs old just back around March 12th. He was my Moms dog before she passed away so it was twice difficult....my last tie to Mom.

I need to find the poem someone sent me.....I'll look for it and dmail if I find it. I sent it to Anjl....seems like she lost a pet right after me....

Hope you all catch up with her....

Betty- love your gardens....how nice to have SO much room! I am limited by our small backyard...seems like there's not much more I can do at times...We (DH) did flagstone paths with pea gravel....I love how they turned out....I call it the "Path of Least Resistance". And DH & I joke about 'walking the path' after work. I need to send you my lastest Hibiscus pic...although DH really planted them...

Your DG garden -HOW CREATIVE!

Crissy - I was going to ask you ...your description sounds SO much like my DD's....DD1 bday is 12/4 and DD2 bday is 11/25....
What signs are they?
Best: Tahoe may only cost $4-500 or so to fix....I had $1000 in my head....Thank Goodness
Worst: Morale at the lowest of the low with Co-workers....some of us have found out that the Company took back some of our commissions the last 2 months at least ($400 from most of us). We don't know how this is legal....
Learned: I Think I would like to work at a Non Profit Organization...organizing Fundraisers...

Hugs to All,

Mary

PS: Heard back from the Mom (who just found out her son is 'pregnant') and she will help me with the Foreign Exchange Student "Going away/birthday" party this Thursday after all. YAY! I don't have much time to plan anything....I'm providing the place, drinks, and cake. So if you creative types think of something else easy we can do to make it special.....let me know. :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Is this what you are looking for? I have seen this one posted several times.

Over the rainbow bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hey Linda Kay-

That is beautiful - I have tears in my eyes. Thank you!

Here is the one I was going to send Bev but I'll copy it here for all....

A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what wa s going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.' Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The Six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy..

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY

You guys, I just tried to read the posts and realized I would be here reading for an hour. lol You are the longest, sweetest bloggers, I have the good fortune to know.

I love the Cobalt furniture of Shars and even the red adirondack of Betty's. Funny how I used to hate any bright colors in decor or accent, both inside and out.

I have grown fond of red/burgundy and Cobalt, but don't much like many others except as accents.

What great pictures you guys, I am jealous of the plants you grow. I can not grow any kind of birch here but river birch and I think white, but it is fussy and likes better soil than I have for now. They are one of my favorites.

Shar that one rose you rescued looks like a Cl Blaze. I have seen one that was 40 feet high over the top of a huge A frame roof.

Spend a minute to take this brief but very accurate test !!!!!! (scroll down) It's fun but accurate !!!

Each of us is the result of the influence of many people. However some individuals have played a significant role in our development, They are often called "role models" that we consciously or unconsciously imitate. Perhaps you know who that person is, or perhaps you don't.

The world renowned SAMUEL HAIN, Ph.D, has given us a simple way to determine our role model. It is easy and only takes a minute and it may surprise you..

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL???*

Be sure not to peek! You don't want to skew your answer.
Try this - it's really neat ...
Don't look at the answers:

1) Pick your favorite number between 1-9

2) Multiply by 3 then

3) Add 3, then again Multiply by 3 (I'll wait while you get the Calculator....)

4) You'll get a 2 or 3 digit number......

5) Add the digits together

Now Scroll down ...............

With that number, see who your ROLE MODEL is from the list below:

1. Einstein
2. Oprah Winfrey
3. Mother Teresa
4. Randubius Raji
5. Bill Gates
6. John Wayne
7. Brad Pitt
8. Babe Ruth
9 TubbyTeeslink
10. Barack Obama

*I know....I just have that effect on people....one day you too can be like
me....... Believe it! *

* P.S.. Stop picking different numbers!! I AM YOUR IDOL, JUST DEAL WITH IT

This is an e-mail I received last night
I've seen it before you probably have too..But just in case.????

Quilt of Holes
As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt
before the Lord along with all the other souls.

Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a
quilt in many piles;
An angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt
squares together into a tapestry that is our
life.

But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I
noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares
was. They were filled with giant holes. Each
square was labeled with a part of my life that had
been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was
faced with in every day life. I saw hardships
that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.
I glanced around me. Nobody else had such
squares.Other than a tiny hole here and there,
the other tapestries were filled with rich color and
the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon
my own life and was disheartened.
My own angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth
together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.
Finally the time came when each life was to be
displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of
truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up
their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My
angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.
My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't
had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life,
and laughter. But there had also been trials of
illness, and wealth, and false accusations that
took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start
over many times. I often struggled with the
temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the
strength to pick up and begin again. I spent
many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for
help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up
to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each
time offering it up to the Father in hopes that
I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental
gaze of those who unfairly judged me.

And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what
it was, and I had to accept it for what it was.

I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life
to the light.

An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the
others who stared at me with wide eyes.

Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light
flooded the many holes, creating an image, the
face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with
warmth and love in His eyes. He said, 'Every
time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life,
My hardships, and My struggles.

Each point of light in your life is when you stepped
aside and let Me shine through, until there was more
of Me than there was of you.'

May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing
Christ to shine through!

God determines who walks into your life ..it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.'

Mary the daughter that's 11-15 is Sagittarius on a Scorpio Cusp, meaning she's Sagittarius with Scorpio tendencies, the other is Sagittarius. They're a lot alike! Dave is a Taurus on a Gemini Cusp and extremely hyper, and he actually does 3 to 4 things at once but because of the Taurus (and the fact he IS a man) it doesn't always work out well LOL

Love all the poems Tubby! Thank you for sharing them!

Well at work once again, and let the party start! LOL

That is one of the nicest readings I've read...just have to copy it as well...you must spend half the night up finding things treasures for us..you go enjoy your day with Shirley, I'm sure she' got a 'to do' list that needs done today...So laughing, at the 'Role Model' post...you'll have to share how you've done that...

Bev, how are you both doing this morning..as I pet Sailor this a.m. I thought of you both and said a prayer!

Dawn, I've tried using bright colors indoors and just cannot do it! But outside is a different thing..funny, we all have our specialties...you with hollyhocks, Shar with roses, me with everything that takes no special care..lol..

Left my Fabricland card this morning for June..sale starts tomorrow, she's already been and picked her fabric, they've cut it and set it aside...she's so spoilt..said what she chose for the cushions for the adirondak chair set is stripes in yellow/red/green and blue..will look pretty I'm sure...I've a bench with a back that had an insert which I painted, am trying to decide if I should cut out wood panel and do another or get wood, cover it with sponge and do a back cover...as I type I think and I've decided lol that I'll get June to get another yard, cover some buttons and make a design in the back which would be more comfy...got my Better Homes and gardening magazine last night, didn't have a chance to look at it but just decided where it's sitting in the back yard where I'm working on the stone walkway and flower gardens, instead of being so structured, why not put rocks helter skelter and sit the bench and work on making it look something like this photo...labtec camera not the best but might be enough to give you an idea...

And OH gosh, thaty is a great picture of the squirrel in the tree.

At a Cuz' house they think they saw some unframiliar glasses, now just to find them again! So begged the little one to keep looking I'll gladly give her 20 bucks!
LOL, told her I'ld love her forever, hehehhe, Like I already do...
So had to fight with Jake to choose his outfit so I can press them and make ready, he grumbled and mumbled about going shopping for shoes and a tie...But off he and dad went and to my great delight came back with a very nice pair of Black slacks shoes and geesh forgot the tie...found one but somehow forgot to put it on counter...so will go get that after school...He modeled for me and oh my gosh!!
Tears just came streaming down my face, My baby is no longer a babe but a very Handsome young man!

Mary, how can that be legal..commissions are yours..can you contact a Labor Board to question it...did you purchase anything at the auction??
Might be something you could pursue, do you know of any organization in your area that you might try???

Vicky, been awhile since you've logged on...how is your work situation...each time I go picking rock I think of you and your gardens...bet they are spectacular this year...

Cat...are you busy at work??

Gillian, you must be getting better temps now that we are in June..have you done indoor plantings for the garden?

Crissy, think I've far too much time on my hands..find myself planning 'make work' projects...I always get them done..should be sitting and enjoying right? No! so nice to see planned things come together...

Asked DIL if she wanted to go to Cookstown town garage sale Sat. - starts at 7:30 am..bus people in from main highway..she has commitments with the boys so no go...might ask Cathy if she'd like to go, after all she'll have cut my grass tomorrow or Friday morning...that leaves me with 2 or 3 hrs. less work and as she doesn't drive most likely she'd be thrilled..NOT that I need anything..it's just a fun thing to do..

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

We are doing ok thanks. I just got hostas in the mail but has been raining for two days. I might just have to mud them in. I will get something done in the house today. I have a bunch of two yr old babies in my beds outside that need to be separated and potted up for my sale this fall. Here is a pic of how crowded they are. Have a good day all. HUGS BEV

Wow Bev look at them all...do you have a 'blue hosta'..I was offered one last year and for the love of me can't remember who offered...might go in search of one...now were those started from seed..think somewhere I saw hosta seed...

I was up so early this a.m. that I got into my garden journal seeds and planted 3 pkgs...tonight I'll have an hour or so before class and will plant more..should mark them but I don't, most likely I'm planting seed upon seed...

Glad you are feeling somewhat better today Bev..quite traumatic for you..was looking for something on a thread last year and you had taken a photo of your yard..all the gardens...so pretty...you are able to go to the trailer whenever as it's close by..do you spend the weekend or days during the week enjoying it?

Judy/Judy - omg wouldn't it be wonderful if they are indeed your glasses...now can you recall visiting about the time that they went missing? let's hope they can find it...

Don't you just hate it when you are planning something and nobody replies, it's as though they think you can just drum up at the last second the menu..these things have to be planned...so how many do you have so far...

Having no phone for you is worse than trying to stop smoking isn't it? lol
Liz will be panicking for sure...seems you've been through several since the beginning of the year...

Dreamcatchers...put one in your bedroom to catch those nasty bad dreams..lovely job..we had a native indian at the community center years ago, we did hyde mocassins and dreamcatchers...loved it..used the arrow needle for easy sewing..prior to that I was using a regular needle and boy did my fingers hurt...was fun learning the crafts of her tribe..then we went picking wildflowers for remedies...mostly poison ivy...miss her, she sure was a barrel of laughs.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I love dream catchers but don't have any Indian decorations up whatsoever. They are beautiful! I wonder how many people sell dream catchers on ebay, they'd be cheap and easy to ship.

Betty I hope she'll go with you. Shoot, I'll go with you LOL!!

Man, I cannot get motivated today at all. Just gave the contract for my hot check conference to the director, we'll see what he says, I'm sure he'll approve it but will pick it apart first, as he should since it's our budget in jeopardy here.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes these were started from seed outside in the fall of 07. I have some 1yr olds in a bed under the back awning and some 6 month olds in my aquarium. I do have some blue and every other color.

Is it something you are going to or have been to Crissy...think we're all in of funk of late...I'm sure Cathy would jump at the chance of going..I'll have to call her tonight..

Was doing my garden diary and while typing came up with an idea...

Kyle at 13 organized a fund raiser for 'cure for cancer', why not me as as well...so here's what I've been thinking OMG/OMG I DO have too much time on my hands, mind boggling, never stops thinking...

I put a lot of work into my gardens, why not one weekend in July have a 'garden tea' whatever funds are raised donate them to cancer society..without any effort I can sit 40..I'd make it on a Saturday with a rain day slated for the Sunday..give me something to do!!! what do you think?

Victoria Harbour, ON

So pretty Bev...didn't have many hostas' but since on this thread it seems I'm purchasing them more and more...what size do you leave them grow before you decide they need dividing and do you just cut them in half for do you dig out entire plant, remove soil, divide and replant?
