Betty you will love our expensive rock.....a homeowner a few blocks over broke up and replaced his driveway....that is the broken up cement he put out to be hauled away....my mom and I knocked on the door and asked if we could haul it off for him... it cost us some sore muscles and three or four trips in mom's little station wagon. I would love to do a big in ground pond but don't think the landlord would go for that....
We had good news/bad news regarding Doris today. Good news, her doctor has insisted she be moved to assisted living where she can be monitored around the clock...the bad news is that it is because her congestive heart failure is getting worse. But at least now if she has problems there eill be someone there and we won't be finding her lying on the bathroom floor.
Went up to the garden center to get Algaecide for the pond...took Sage and Laura with me. Laura and I of course had to get a couple of tomato plants and a few flowers and Sage found the green house with the $1.69 Annuals....she found several flowers she needed for her garden so I got those too.....she and Laura are going to work on their flower garden tomorrow. Sage was so much fun to take to the Garden Center....we are turning her into a gardener! She also told me she needed some inside plants for her windows in her room...so we are repotting some of my houseplants for her before she goes home tomorrow. going to be a busy day!
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #106 visit with friends!
Morning all, brrrr its damp and cold, going to be one of those 'dress 3 times' kind of day..
Trisha, nothing like teachng them early..lol..so you also plant a veggie garden right? something I always had and enjoyed but since I'm on my own it's much easier to just pick up at the local market..
Does sound as though you've a big day planned .. don't overdo..do you attract frogs to your pond? I've a zillion tadpoles right now so won't be long I'll be hearing little froggie chant...
Darlene said she'd be here about 7:30 providing her mother doesn't need her, her mom Mae is the woman who just had the stroke..Darlene says her speach is returning so that's good news...
I'b best go get ready, will take photo of my purchases..let's hope they have some new plants otherwise I'll have to pass and that won't please me..lol
morning all,
trish going too get those off to you today cross your fingers they stay intact lol
love the pond! yep got the same issues here with mine we put rags soaked in ammonia along the fence.
the raccoons dont seem to like the smell so it keeps them out of the pond,
and besides it keeps me out of mischeif not having to be the raccoon police ask judy he he he..

omg this is funny two days ago i heard the lousest flapping of wings when i looked a duck was flying out of the yard i was so excited! well today getting trishas box togeather even snuck in some lemmons shhh dont tell steve!
i kept feeling as though i was being watched i looked up and started to laugh look who was watching me...
Liz you are just too funny,
I'm in for just 2 secs...
Things have been going according to hoil today..sun is shinning, time to change from winter clothing to spring clothing, but as I'm full of soil/mud think I'll wait until later today when I get ready to go to town and for tonights party..can tell you, won't be staying late..
Darlene and I made it to the plant sale, not a lot different but some, ended up coming home with 48 plants, a couple of hosta's bought to let float in the pond..12 flocks, have to check the tags, not sure what the others are, just sounded pretty..
No sooner were we taking the plants from Dar's jeep that a car pulled in, it was Shirley, good friend of Helen's that just passed away...she was here to tell me the were having a garage sale at Helen's but her children wanted us to come and get all her painting books and paint and paint pieces..we'll now that's just what I need, took 4 boxes inside and left the others in the back stairwell to go through later..
Then off I went up the concession for lilac trees..I
put several lilac sections together about 2' high making 12 of them..going to watch to see if they survive, just watered the heck out of them, if they do then I'll be going to get more, will put all along the neighbors half fallen fence..that ought to hide it providing they don't take 20 years to grow..
So that has been my morning...just as I was watering I sat and had a glass of juice on back patio, thought came to me, know Greg has forgotten about chairs..he'll be calling no doubt around 7 panicking .. I've 12 under the back deck enclosure as well as a table so going to wash them all down so at least I'll be ready when they call..they'll be clean..men probably don't think chairs have to be clean but we women do...so must run..
But I'll be back, going to try and make the post office to mail something out, so can't be sitting playing..lol
Hope it's sunshine in your neck of the woods and that you are enjoying your day....
Betty the problem with that is her work is my work, and when/if she leaves I get her position and her private office and part of her pay, so the more work I do the more I learn and the better off I am. It's extremely frustrating when she does that because I can't learn without her, and she didn't do anything that I asked her to and told her I needed help with it. She said she was going to figure out what's wrong with those reports and leave me instructions on finding the problem myself and how to fix it. She didn't do any of that, then she tells me that she was so slow she was bored! GGRRRRRR
You all have been busy busy today. We went to the store, went looking at 4-wheelers but every place was closed, on an 80 degree Saturday, and got a bunch of spark plugs for Dave's lawn equipment and a propane tank for the grill. Then got home and washed my car, now he's in the shower and has to work again tonight. Bum!
HEY HERE'S THE LINK TO MY CRUISE PICTURES: Remember you can click on a picture to enlarge it to almost screen size.

A fairy for a fairy, looks adorable, did it hurt Stacey??? bet it hurt like the dickens...
Did more edging and into town shopping this afternoon, now I'm bathed and have to push myself out the door in an hour or so...wouldn't you know, the entire day was perfect..now it's thundering, high winds and rain..wouldn't you know it..Greg spend so much time making the back yard perfect for this do and now everyone will be inside..
Mostly the young ones will be at the party, I'll stay a few hours but it won't be late before I'm home..even found a bottle of wine to take with me to look sociable..lol..about a glass should do me...
I finally opened my p.j. swap box from Cindy..omg the jammies are to die for..Cindy included a lavender candle...scent is so soothing..put lavender oil in my bath and now the candle sitting in the living room smells like heaven, thundering/lighting/rain, oh what a night it would be to cuddle in new jammies with a book and enjoy...
Drats, best go get dressed and head out...
Talk later...
Thanks Crissy, just heading out but will either go look before I go to bed or early a.m. - ohhh 4 wheeler..we had one at the farm, loved it until the young ones were on it and then I was terrified...so now you get to enjoy the evening all on your own..awe, wish you lived closer you could accompany me to the birthday party...
Betty-felt like a BAD sunburn and someone scraping their nail down it-not too bad really since they do it in short bursts-thanks;)
How is your Aunt-she was such a sweet lady??
Well the storm has passed us by, might still be too wet to be outside but the young ones I'm sure with a fire going won't mind...
Stacey thanks for asking, she still cannot walk without the walker and omg she's totally black and blue..you know how tiny she is, can't believe only chips came off her hip and that she did not break it...unbelievable and all because of a skunk..think if the man who told her to run hadn't done so she wouldn't have fallen...
My mom dropped in this afternoon, finally gave her the mother's day gift I had for her..a solar fairy..she loved it..told me between Thurs. night and today she won 9 jackpots at Casino Rama, no wonder the lady LOVES to go to casino's..told her it was my birthday and she forgot to leave a gift, she started to laugh and told me it would work this time...drats...thought it would..
I would have imagine Stacey that it really would have hurt..bet your were excited to get it done...
Well, can't put it off any longer, must get dressed and leave...
Poor Sailor, hope now that the storm has passed she can relax and stop panting ...
Talk later
I can't believe you tried to pull that on your mom again Betty-shame on you!!LOL
It didn't hurt that much really.....like I said, a nail scraping through a sunburn. I put on earphones and played some music of the net and sang along...right now though it itches like the dickens!!
Thanks, I will have to have Chris take a pic in a few days when it stops peeling-then I can see what it looks like now-LOL-it seems to have faded a bit....
I love that name, Sage, how adorable is that. I hope my little rug rats will love to have a garden like grandma and my grandma before me.
stacy, nice job on your tatoo, pretty colors
dawn, glad to hear plants taking off sent trisha the same
betty, oh what a nice swap gift and looks like you hit the bargains in plants
crissy, nice pictures looks like you had a wonderful time
Hello To All;
Just a quick note. DH got us a movie to watch tonight...just us 2. Girls still at visitation and DS off to the skating rink with friends...
Betty - Young! How often from the teens I hear how old I am! I'll be 44 this year. Nice to be called "young". :)Bernie's Trike looks a lot bigger than Dad's....I love the flames and I love your flower jumpsuit!
Trisha - It's so great that Sage is gardening. Does she just love planting and cooking with the herbs? Some pics I can't open...couldn't open yours...drats as Betty would say....Thanks for the recipe - I am planning to cook it tomorrow...
Hello Liz ! Well in Louisiana we usually boil crawfish as you know. :) Dad's friend did the shrimp boil similar, but MUCH less spicy....and they peeled the onions, the Cajuns here just throw the onions, garlic, etc. in the pot. It was good, but really I just wish Dad had ordered pizza so I could visit with him more than I did.
The Shrimp was good though! Great idea to keep raccoons out! I wasn't sure what was getting my petunia's but the critter seems to have gone away. (Probably ate his fill !)
My prayers to you Hope. Please let us know how you are doing!
Stacey got a "Tat". :) LOL!
Great pic's Crissy! Hey that's only an hour's drive from here (Baton Rouge).....please talk me into taking a cruise! Dad says they are not very expensive....What stops did you have? I've never been on a cruise....
Dh calling me in to watch the movie....Benjamin Buttons or something like that.....a little far fetched for me....but maybe I'll like it after all...
Hugs to all,
Mary
Mary, Go to http:\www.cruises.com and look at them, they are real cheap this year but you have to be careful of the money you spend on-ship. The amount you spend up front will usually cover dining in one or two dining rooms for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a buffet that has numerous choices of foods from all over the world. If there is a sushi bar/steakhouse, you will have to pay for it, and alcohol isn't cheap. The pizzaria is usually included in the cost. All in all, we spent about $150.00 off shore at the ports and $400.00 on ship, so if you think about it we spent $1066.00 for the cruise itself, given it was moved from a 5 day to a 7 day, that's less than $100.00 pp per day, and the amount you spend at ports is completely up to you, we spent $150.00 so probably came close to $150.00 pp per day, that's not bad. We had a day in Key West, Florida and 2 days 1 night in Nassau, Bahamas. It sounds expensive but when you break it down, we couldn't have drove to Florida and went to Universal Studios and Disneyworld for that cheap with the cost of the hotel added to it, and this way you can easily go out of the country!
Stacey I love that tattoo, I'm sorry I didn't have time to look at it earlier.
Betty I wish I lived closer to you too, but you might not ever get rid of me :o I think we should all live on the same block!
So funny, it takes all her time to talk to me, only does when I make sure to talk to her in front of people...Roger's sister Marguerite is a dear, she lives with her mom now that Roger's dad has passed on..
I said why don't you both come for early supper tomorrow ..Marg quickly said oh I'd love to, but you could see he MIL fumming, before I left she had Marg say they call and let me know..could make a bet on this one, I won't be cooking supper...lol...
Roger's sister Marg..
Cute Betty! I'm going to take a bath too, I'll yak at ya'll tomorrow.
Oh, Best of Today got a lot of things done
Worst of Today Dave is still wound up like an 8 day clock because of those layoffs. He's been going on about it since noon yesterday, went on about it all day today (or the part of today when he was awake) and just called me still going on about it. Good Grief!
Crissy, yep, wouldn't that be interesting-living on same block, tell you one thing, sure would have pretty gardens and friendly people...
That isn't bad at all, as you say, where could you go for $150 a day on a holiday..so you enjoyed the cruise how about DH???
Stacey, guess the tatoo will look totally different once it's healed...
Mary, 44 is young...funny, as I was leaving so was Melanie's adoptive parents and just behind them I'm sure Melanie's birth parents were leaving..omg, Noah was suppose to come home with me, but when Jan/Charlie (bio-parents) were leaving they said they had a room in Midland so Noah decided to go with them...not once but 3 times he came and said, 'but grandma, I'll come and sleep over next weekend ok' you could see he was torn between going with them and coming home with me..
The next photo is my DIL Melanie on the left, her adoptive mother Betty in the middle (imagine, mom and MIL both named Betty) and her sister Jennifer on the right....
Crissy, Melanie's adoptive mom and dad got in at 6pm tonight, took a cruise from Montreal to Boston and then flew home..they both enjoyed it...
Guess he can't help worry about what would happen if he got layed off...just have to have patience I guess...good start is with a leisurely bath...
Thought I'd add a photo of my BIL Paul..my boss...Greg (son) is on the right, Paul is on the left..
Mary enjoy the movies...
Tubby, where are you, going to send out the DG police if we don't here from you shortly..
Dawn...can picture you already outside gardening with those two darling angels...
OOOPS forgot my post..
Best of today...just everything, from p.j. pressie, plants, good company
Worse...feeling odd about going through Helen's things...
What did I learn today...coming down the back concession there was an entire field that someone had dumped rocks, big/med/small, guess who picked about 10 this morning and guess who'll be making daily stops on her way home..yep..need some rocks and I'm not paying $19.98 for them either...now let's hope I can lift some big ones..
Night / Night everyone
Talk tomorrow if the good Lord is Willing...
Have a good night everyone.....
Best the fun garden things and rocks and just the joy of a small child......
Worst.....knowing that they have not yet gotten Doris moved to assisted living...I worry about her being alone at night.
Learned........that the neighbor boy who ran over the mailboxes etc. was not on drug or alcohol....they have just found out he is diabetic and was passing out from diabetic episodes. Says it is going to mean some changes, but at least he knows what is going on now.
Betty -
Noah is precious....as all your DGK's! I don't see a cast so I suppose the bike injury is all okay now?
Crissy - Thank you for the info / website....seems very affordable...and the port so close...I almost have NO excuse not to go!
Trisha - well - I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as it seemed....my DS's best friend at 10 yrs old - we found out he had diabetes...I do remember him acting very very odd at a sleep-over....it's a very difficult thing to go through when they find out so late....
Good: Today was a day I've been dreading and now it is behind me.
Bad: At work today - I again witnessed a lazy co-worker that is causing me stress. I may need to leave this job if this doesn't improve.
What I learned: I hope I remember to never assume someone is doing their job. Because at my company....that should never be the assumption....sadly.....
Betty's grandson looks like her clone. What genes you have Aunt B.
Morning All
I've been reading most all..
Busy in shop & garden.. Family reunion in 2 weeks .Must get all the items made for raffle..I'll take a pic of it all when I'm done..
Off to shop "Burning daylight"...Not quite it's still dark...
Gotta go .
Barb/Norm hows it going...
Glad you are absent only because you are working hard, hate to think you weren't well...
Oh Mary, was it the anniversary of you mom's death? that surely can be traumatic...as for your work is there no one you can go and talk to about the situation? With economy being so bad it's hard to make the decison to quit but mental health comes first...
Trisha, how can they continue to charge this boy if it was because of health issues ? that doesn't sound right does it..he didn't hit the mailboxes on purpose..only thing I could see is they'd suspend his driving until they have him levelled with meds...can't believe they sent Doris home...overwhelming for you, am sure you want to continually go check up on her...
Not just little girls get enthused over rocks..you should have seen my face when I found a field of rocks..lol
Dawn, actually Noah is the one grandchild most like me...thank you for the compliment..
Can you believe it, I slept in until 8..listened at the howling of the wind for awhile before getting up, omg, if one didn't know it you'd think there was a blizzard going on...so, taking my time this morning before going outside, got to find some cotton balls and put in my ear if the wind stays up and I want to work..early yet, perhaps it will die down and all will be well in my world...
Thought about going into town, getting a turkey for supper just incase MIL and SIL decide to come but what a waste of money and time as I can't see it happening..so, I'll wait until they call then rush into local store and pick up something quick and easy...sounds like a plan right??
Thinking out my day, was tempted to drop into Home Depot for cement and do some leaves before the rhubbarb is done but that sounds ambitious, then I thought a bit more edging and all the back gardens will be done...then if the wind continues I could get my mactac, glass pieces and stepping stone mold out and do one of them...just wonder what the day will bring..lol
Do enjoy your day, will be back on my next break...
Hi all.
Just popping in..
had the most gorgeous Iris bloom yesterday.
Betty..was Melanie surprised by her birthday party last evening?
Very pretty tatto Stacey.
Liz thanks for the tip about the ammonia to keep the raccoons away. I am having a hard time with something that is coming on my deck and digging in the pots and one night the two hummingbird feeders had their spouts bitten off and broken.
Enjoy your day..it is cold outside here...but sunny.
Gorgeous Iris Starzz!
Thank goodness not that Betty (That would be November)! My biggest customer had a Car Giveaway yesterday - which is why my trip was cut short. The Promotions Manager does everything she can to foul things up for me...and she did yesterday as well. None of the managers in this city have any power nor do they want to take the time to change anything. All us salespeople complain but nothing gets done. We lost 2 salespeople last week, while I was out...so that must show how bad it is.
Anyway - I couldn't sleep this morning for thinking of it ...so had to get up....don't want to waste another minute of "My" short weekend thinking about work. :)
That's too bad that you can't know for sure if you'll have guests. If they can't call to let you know in a timely manner...I think they should just be happy with a delivered pizza or something. :)
Bless your heart for trying to mend everything though,.....
You should feel good just for inviting them.
Well I'm up early for me.....can't believe DH still in bed. Nothing planned today...just relax, make Trisha's Eggplant Parmesan.
Hugs to all,
Mary
Carol, beautiful iris, color is spectacular, bet your garden is starting to bloom like crazy...it's sunny here as well, just got back from town and had to go gather things all over the lawn, chairs/table/pots..sky is now clouding over but can't believe the wind...
Mary, you are so right, you get the weekend off and no sense worrying about work, enjoy the day and the family..DH must have needed the rest..good day here for it...did the same at the Township, not my department but the men in the public works dept. were all fed up with the boss, got me to type out a letter, request a meeting with the mayor and when the meeting came it was a total different story, everything was just dandy..taught me a lesson I'll tell you...
Headed out to town with the thoughts of purchasing 3 or 4 bags of cement...half way there I'm thinking do I really need more leaves, if I do, must they be done today, almost turned around, but another thought came to me...with it being so cold out there why not bring in the little backyard cafe set I found in the garbage last year and paint it so off to Home Depot, made sure I didn't look around, Lord knows what I'd have come home with, didn't even go to their outdoor plant..bought red paint and home I came...another thought came to mind, why not go up the concession to the rock pit I found and get some rock..so there I went, didn't fully fill the car, would do damage, some days you wish you had a truck right??? my thoughts is at the back shed it's hard to do the weeding so I'll place a few stones at the door entrance..figure by Friday if I pick about the same amount that project will be done....
Passed that bunch of lilac trees, of course no shovel with me this time but out I got and managed to pull and dig with my hands enough for 4 big clumps...I'll hide the neighbors yards if it kills me..lol
With not being sure they are coming I decided to purchase some pre seasoned chicken, a pork roast, Aunt Martha's apple pie (needs cooking) salad fixings, have my alarm set for noon to put on bread, if they come they come if not oh well...
Mary, I've tried a zillion times to mend fences with MIL..problem is, when Roger was dying she was out of the hospital from major surgery, FIL wasn't the best either...Roger was failing quickly but he kept saying he didn't want to see anyone in the condition that he was in, said when he saw family he could see something in their eyes, actually for the amount of pain he was in, wouldn't give him any pain meds as they said with the liver full of cancer it wouldn't break it down and he could die...helllllooo what was wrong with their heads, he was dying anyway..omg I even went to the drug store one day, couldn't stand it, looking for pain meds..couldn't bring myself to do it though, not to end his life, just to make him comfortable) so I asked as per his request NOT to visit..they did once and he was so upset...kept a journal through those 3 weeks, sent it to her to read in hopes that it would make her understand but NOT..don't think she even read it...so the fence is high, only way she'd break down is if Marguarite would kind of shame her into it...hurts, but I've gotten over worse...
You think when you drive and I thought why try so hard, obviously it's just too late, why not focus on someone who wants to be a friend...
Well, going to make a BLT, coffee and start painting, who knows maybe by noon it will have cleared...
